essay on india 2047

In 2021 Independence Day speech, the Hon’ble Prime Minister paid homage to the freedom fighters and shared his vision for Amrit Kaal and 2047, when the country would celebrate 100 years of independence. He mentioned that the goal of 'Amrit Kaal' is to create an India where the level of facilities is not dividing the village and the city; where the government does not interfere unnecessarily in the lives of citizens; where there is world’s every modern infrastructure. To achieve these goals, he gave the slogan, “SabkaSaath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, and SabkaPrayas.”

The PM, in his 2022 Independence Day speech, mentioned how the entire country celebrated Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and shared Panch Pran of Amrit Kaal: Goal of developed India, to remove any trace of the colonial mindset, take pride in our roots, unity and a sense of duty among citizens. He urged the citizens to nurture new possibilities, realize new resolutions and move ahead with confidence. He also underlined collective efforts and teamwork to take the country forward.

Roadmap

Expounding on the PM’s vision, the Union Finance Minister, in her Union Budget FY 2022-2023 speech , shared that during the Amrit Kaal (India at 75 to India at 100), the government aims to

  • Complement the macro-economic level growth focus with a micro-economic level all-inclusive welfare focus.
  • Promote digital economy & fintech, technology-enabled development, energy transition, and climate action.
  • Rely on virtuous cycle starting from private investment with public capital investment helping to crowd-in private investment.

Elaborating more on the goals for 2047, the union budget for 2023-2024, the first budget in the Amrit Kaal, envisioned India as a technology-driven and knowledge-based economy with strong public finances and a robust financial sector. It reemphasised that Jan Bhagidari through Sabka Saath, Sabka Prayas is essential and delineated the Saptarishi principles: Inclusive Development; Reaching the Last Mile; Infrastructure and Investment; Unleashing the Potential; Green Growth; Youth Power; Financial Sector.

In line with the above-mentioned futuristic and inclusive vision, the government has taken several steps, like focusing on women's development, health, education, skill development, science and technology advancement, infrastructure creation, employment, agriculture, increasing manufacturing, industrial production, innovation, boosting indigenous industry etc.

Keeping in mind the impact of climate change, special focus will be given to green growth as per the Panchamrit policy. The government is committed to increasing its non-fossil energy capacity to 500 GW by 2030; meeting 50% of its energy requirements from renewable energy by 2030; reducing the total projected carbon emissions by one billion tonnes by 2030; reducing the carbon intensity of its economy by less than 45%; achieving the target of Net Zero by 2070.  The government is already implementing various programs for green fuel, green energy, green farming, green mobility, green buildings, and green equipment, and policies for efficient use of energy across various economic sectors.  Similarly, the Government is also focussing on critical and emerging technologies like blockchain, AI, IoT etc.

To boost the economy, employment, innovation and industrial output, various policies on skill development, ease of doing business, and schemes like PM Gati-Shakti, PLI are already in place. Similarly, the Competitiveness Roadmap for India@100 emphasises productivity as a driver of sustained prosperity through sector-specific and region-specific policies based on the ‘ 4 S ’ principles. The 4S principles stress the need for prosperity growth to be matched by social progress , to be  shared across all regions within India, to be environmentally sustainable , and to be solid in the face of external shocks.

India is well on the path to becoming one of the two largest economies in the world by 2047.  Hon’ble Commerce and Industries Minister has also predicted that by 2047 India will be a global powerhouse with the size of economy around $ 35 trillion.  The vision document for the same is already being prepared in consultation with a wide-range of stakeholders across all sectors.

The seeds we sow today will define the fruits reaped in future. To achieve the above-mentioned transformational objectives of Viksit Bharat envisioned for 2047, the country must continue to focus on “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, and Sabka Prayas.” This Independence Day, let us pledge to make efforts, individually and collectively.

500 Words Essay on My Vision For India In 2047

In the year 2047, India will celebrate a century of independence, a significant milestone that prompts us to envision a future filled with progress and prosperity. My vision for India in 2047 is that of a superpower, which excels not just in economic growth, but also in social and human development.

Economic Prosperity

By 2047, I envision India as a thriving economic powerhouse, leading the world in various sectors. The Indian economy should be a blend of manufacturing prowess, technological innovation, and service industry dynamism. We should be at the forefront of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, harnessing the power of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and big data to drive economic growth.

However, economic growth should not come at the expense of the environment. The vision for India in 2047 should be rooted in sustainable development. We should aim to be a global leader in renewable energy, with a significant portion of our energy needs being met by solar and wind power. Our cities should be models of green urban planning, with efficient waste management systems, clean public transportation, and ample green spaces.

Social Equity

Our education system should foster creativity, critical thinking, and a spirit of inquiry, rather than rote learning.

Healthcare for All

Universal healthcare is another crucial aspect of my vision for India in 2047. We should have a robust healthcare infrastructure, with state-of-the-art facilities available even in the remotest corners of the country. Health insurance should be a right, not a privilege, ensuring that no Indian is denied medical care due to financial constraints.

Finally, by 2047, India should be a global leader, not just in terms of economic might, but also in terms of soft power. Our rich cultural heritage, democratic values, and commitment to peace and diplomacy should make us a beacon of hope in a fractured world.

The vision for India in 2047 is ambitious, but achievable. It requires concerted efforts from all sections of society, as well as visionary leadership. As we gear up to celebrate a century of independence, let us commit ourselves to building an India that is prosperous, sustainable, equitable, and a leader on the global stage. This is my vision for India in 2047, a vision that I believe we can turn into reality.

Essay on My Vision for India in 2047 for Class 9, 10

Essay on my vision for india in 2047 – 700 words.

INTRODUCTION

India is a developing country which needs many things for its development. India is going to complete its 100 years of independence and sovereignty, which leads Indians to think big and make them strong. My vision for India in 2047, after 100 years of independence, is to be as strong as those freedom fighters who fought for our nation and lost their lives in making India as an independent country.

My vision for India in 2047 to be self-reliant in every decision so that the shortcomings can be overcome in a way that no one has to struggle to find home and earn their livelihood. Every single person should be able to find their way to make money despite having a suitable degree to protect them and their family from starvation and malnutrition. India should have facilities of providing jobs to the people of different qualifications like graduates, illiterates etc. When we talk about illiterates, it’s again a problem which many people in India are facing like facilities of government schools in remote areas, unaffordable fee structure of private schools for many people, unable to attend school because of family pressure and responsibilities and many more. My vision for India to be able to provide schooling facilities for all the children who truly want to study and make their life better. India is planning to digitize everything possible to develop it in the technical sector and give services to many poor people.

Farmers are called the backbone of our nation, they provide food and basic needs of people to survive and make them capable of doing physical activities. Farmers should be protected by providing them facilities of coaching them about seeds, pesticides, and fertilizers so that they use their knowledge to grow more crops and give people a reason to rely heavily on products from agriculture. When we talk about agriculture, development in industries are also very important like high quality machines, modified equipment and industrial areas to be developed.

vision for india

India should be able to give education to everyone despite the fact of their different gender. This is still an issue which people not only in rural or remote areas but also in urban areas are facing of providing same education to both girl and boy or even transgender. India should be aware of striking out this issue and provide education to every child and make their career brighter and worth living. Providing basic training and development projects to students that can help in developing country’s economy as well as development rate because the youth has the responsibility to make India a better country.

My vision for India in 2047 is to be corruption free so that every single work can be done with full passion and dedication and not by depending upon the corrupt people.

I want India to be free from different kinds of pollution by following pollution control measures to make the environment clean and healthy for people as well as plants and animals.

My vision for India is to enlarge its infrastructure like buildings, roads and all physical systems which make it an interesting and useful place for people living there and make it easy to access in every field. I want India to be capable of providing the best infrastructure for agriculture, industrial as well as service sectors like transportation and communication technology. Child marriages in India are decreasing, but not vanishing. Some places in India like remote and rural areas where people of narrow-minded are there who keep on continuing the legacy despite having an idea of child marriage is illegal in India. India should be able to free children from marriages and give them power to study and make their future bright.

My vision for India in 2047 is to develop in all fields and sectors like Co-education, farmers, malnutrition, discrimination, pollution, corruption, infrastructure, poverty, unemployment and many more so that there will be harmony among people and a high chance to make it a developed country.

In 2047, India should be able to overcome its shortcomings and the things which are lacking to make India a developed, prosperous country.

Essay on My Vision for India in 2047 in 500 Words

India that is our motherland had gained Freedom from the British rule in 1947 .though it was colonialised for 900 years by the muslims and the British and used to be called a 3rd world country  literally gaining solvency in every field with our effort . After a long struggle by our countrymen, wheather by the Liberals and the extremist we gained independence. Now we looking for a new India after 70 years of liberation. It is our great concern how to activate ourselves for the development of our country.

The population of India is now 150 millions and we are very afraid how to tackle the mass of India from the curse of poverty, illiteracy, unemployment, Religious fanaticism and pollution. We should know that India is an agrarian country and there are lots of problems in Indian agriculture. Some years ago we came to know that the Indian government is trying to sell all the land to the corporate houses but by the struggle of the peasents of Hariana and punjub

The govt. was bound to condemen the krishi bill every year about 2000 people die out of hunger in 2047 we hope that the production of India will rise so much that can provide the whole lot of Indian population with food crops.

India, long ago was a spiritual country and was educated and cultured with religious teaching by our sages. but still now a mass of Indian population is uneducated . We hope that in recent years we can touch the level of international education until we educate the rural and urbun. India with modern modes of education, the India that we dream in 1947 will not be possible .

Unemployment that is the problem of the whole world is touching is us really. Our govt should concentrate to eradicate it like a developed nation.

Educated unemployed people having master degree or graduate degree are roaming in the streets in search of job.the young generation are losing faith on education as they know their education cannot give them any job .

We all know that religion is the basic foundation of our country.but when religion become fanatic and tries to condemn other religion the substance of a secular country become vague .so we should hope to spread the summum bonum of religion to every community .

About all the country is now connected by railways or airways or roadways . After Shershah who made the grand trunk road  the transportation system has developed so much that we can travel the whole country without any problem.

We the Indians worship women but in recent years rape cases have increased too much that the supreme court and administration should take drastic action to secure the women honour. We hope that in 2047 India could win victory over crimes on women in the entire subcontinent. And can share equal oppourtunity in govt jobs, to ensure women liberation.

The India of 2047 will be free from all kinds of social, religious, and political hegemony, and will rise as a super power as predicted by Nostradamus. India has an infinite source of natural vegetation and human resources which can be used properly to come first as a Nation in the international scenario. A new usher of hope could be created throughout the country to reach at that point where Spring can generate a new country of our dream in 2047.

Paragraph on My Vision for India in 2047:

India has recently celebrated her 75 th Republic Day and it will be our 77 th independent year from the colonial rule. We have travelled a difficult path for achieving all the successes in fields of education, health, science and technology. India will celebrate her 100 years of independence from the subjugation of the British rule after 23 years in 2047.The people of India have dreams of creating a nation which is democratically successful and progressive in all spheres. The country that all Indians want in 2047 is a nation which is completely based on equality and freedom for all genders irrespective of their caste, class and creed. There is still lot of discrimination and domination towards women in our society. We have a vision that India in 2047 would be safe for our women at home and outside. Each girl child should be welcomed and endeavors should be made to offer them education, sound health, independence from social evils. Strong and confident women are the foundation of powerful India. Our vision is that every individual is educated, healthy. No home should be indarkness of hunger and poverty. Each citizen must have the opportunity of employment and support to realize dreams. Corruption acts like termite in advancement of a nation. Unfortunately, our nation has not been able to penetrate through this evil. We envisage a nation which is free from all corruption and every citizen is engaged towards the advancement of India selflessly and unitedly.

India gained her independence from the tyranny of British colonial power in the year 1947.It will be 100 years of independence in 2047. I, as the young citizen of this great country have some visions for this great nation. I envisage a nation which has acquired 100% literacy, where each child has education and can fulfills his or her ambition. There are no discriminations on gender. Girl child is not being deprived from a healthy life and future. I dream that India in 2047 provides world class healthcare facilities, even the poorest can avail all treatments and everyone has the chance to lead a healthiest life. India is the second largest producer of food items like rice, wheat, sugarcane, vegetables etc, but I wish our country becomes self-dependent in food industry and starts off becomes self-sufficient in production of grains. India was always developed in science and technology from ancient time, invention of zero, Pythagoras theorem, techniques of surgery etc were gifts to the world from India.I want India to be more developed in 2047.The people of India must be free of all social evils, there should not be any discrimination on the basis of caste, birth and social strata. All Indians should be employed and no one should be poor and hungry. India of my dreams should be world champions in World Cups and Asian Games and be pioneers in the various sports like football, cricket etc. I envisage India assupreme in the world.

My Vision for India in 2047 Essay in English

My Vision for India in 2047 Essay in English : India is an ancient country, but the Republic of India as we know it is relatively new. Born on 15th August 1947, India was subjected to the tyrannical rule of the British , which was responsible for the death of crores of Indians and for looting hundreds of crores of rupees, making India a poor nation and Indians destitute. Thus, the day of Independence was a jubilant one, marking the end of the era of India’s subjugation.

The Government of India, on the eve of the 75th Independence Day of India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that the remaining 25 years to the 100th Independence Day will be observed as “Azadi ka Amrit Kaal”. This period will be characterised by the unprecedented growth of the nation. This makes the year 2047 an important year for India. Thus, we bring to you a My Vision for India in 2047 Essay in English.

My Vision for India in 2047 Essay in English

A My Vision for India in 2047 Essay in English is as follows.

India is an ancient country, but the Republic of India as we know it is relatively new, born on 15th August 1947 after nearly 200 years of subjugation by the British. India’s freedom was hard to attain, mainly because the British possessed sophisticated weaponry and had a better political system. Thus, many Indians had given up their lives to make India free again. Every Independence Day, we celebrate this very spirit of our Freedom Fighters.

India became Independent after a long and arduous struggle. Before the British arrived in India, India was known as a Golden Bird because of the wealth it had and the prosperity it observed. But, for the period of 200 years under British rule, India was robbed of millions of rupees, crores of Indians were killed, millions became poor and malnourished, and multiple man-made famines took place. India’s progress was taken aback significantly. This makes the eve of Independence an important day for all Indians.

My Vision for India in 2047 is that India recovers itself to become the Golden Bird once again. It is also that India eliminates poverty, joblessness, caste-based discrimination, corruption, illiteracy, social ills, and social taboos and becomes inclusive, progressive, growth-oriented, etc. My vision for India in 2047 also includes it becoming a highly developed nation with clean roads, streets without garbage, high-rise buildings, and good public services such as education, medical facilities, social security, etc. It must also be free of crime, murder, discrimination between men and women, uneducated people, etc.

My Vision for India in 2047 is also that it must become a developed country. All Indians, by 2047, must have a decent income so that they can feed their families and children. Clean drinking water, which is not available in many places, must be available to all, since, without water, life cannot be sustained. It also includes the social discrimination that has plagued our country that must also go away. All persons, be it a man or a woman, a Hindu, Muslim, Christian, Jain, Buddhist, an Upper Caste or Lower Caste must be equal citizens contributing equally to the country.

My vision for India in 2047 also includes an India which is digitally more advanced. As per my vision, all Indian cities must become smart cities by 2047, which will include smart traffic management, walkable localities, Housing and inclusiveness, developed open spaces such as parks, recreational spaces and playgrounds, smart public transport, citizen-friendly & cost-effective governance, smart mobility, smart management of resources and much more.

The Village is the basic unit of India. But at this point, they are in a seriously bad condition. They lack basic infrastructure and facilities such as proper roads, public schools and hospitals, better management of resources, public institutions, lighted streets, or even pucca houses. Since the villages are abodes of traditional ideas and many regressive views, my vision for India in 2047 also includes such a village society that is progressive to accommodate modern ideas and ideals.

India is on the path to becoming one of the greatest countries in the world. It has been growing at high rates for many years. It has substantially reduced poverty, hunger, crime, corruption, social ills, malnutrition, infant mortality etc., and has increased the quality and quantity of public services such as schools, hospitals, vocational centres etc.

The twenty-first century is rightly described as the Asian Century. It has witnessed a huge deal of growth in many Asian countries and India is at its forefront. However, we lag behind many Asian countries which started off as poor but have progressed significantly to become one of the richest and most powerful countries in the world. Thus, Indians need to work hard to catch these countries and improve their social indicators. It is the duty of every Indian to make the twenty-first century not only the Asian Century but the Indian Century.

India in 2047 Global Power House Essay (250 words)

As we celebrate the 75th anniversary of our independence, we can see progress in areas such as infrastructure, technology, defence, healthcare, education, and so on. So far, India has made significant progress. India has become so self-sufficient that it is now exporting to other neighbouring countries. As a result, India has earned foreign cash over the years, which has boosted the country’s economy. India will celebrate its 100th year of independence in 2047, which will be a great and proud occasion for us. So, during the next 25 years, we may expect significant progress in all sectors that can help India improve its worldwide standing. For this, India must invest more in research and development in all policies and the worldwide emergence of power in the next years.

Since its independence, India has experienced rapid economic growth. In PPP terms, India’s GDP accounts for 7.5% of the global economy. According to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), India’s GDP would increase by 7% this year, making it the world’s fifth largest. A decade ago, it was the world’s 11th-largest economy. The pandemic disrupted trade in 2020, and India was the world’s 14th-largest importer and 21st-largest exporter. It is now ranked 37th in the Ease of Doing Business index and 28th in the Global Competitiveness Report.

In 2047, India will celebrate its 100th year of independence, which will be a momentous time. India in 2047 Global Power House Essay (300 words)

India is on the path to becoming a global growth powerhouse by 2047. Today, India is the world’s fifth-largest economy, having made enormous achievements in industrialization, infrastructure development, and military modernisation. India now exports goods and services to 75 countries across the world and has a strong domestic consumer demand base. It has gradually increased its global influence, as seen by our Prime Minister’s visits to 68 countries in the last eight years. It is therefore critical to comprehend where we envision India in the next three decades in terms of global geopolitics and emergence as a world power.

We will discuss the critical factors that will increase India’s global power.

Recognizing the strength of power

To develop favourable routes for India’s continuous growth, we must first examine what constitutes national power. India’s national might represents the embodiment of its defence power, economic strength, and political strategy. All of these characteristics are linked to the country’s strategic functions, such as industrial expansion, infrastructural development, technical progress, leadership qualities, and political stability.

Manufacturing and Industry

Manufacturing and industry employ 22% of the entire workforce and account for 26% of GDP. The government’s emphasis on manufacturing through programs like ‘Make in India ‘ and policies like the ‘National Policy for Advanced Manufacturing,’ Industry 4.0, has played a vital part in increasing the manufacturing sector’s contribution of the country’s GDP to 15%. This must increase to roughly 25% in the next years.

Increase in economic growth

India’s economic growth has been considerable since independence, paving the way for other emerging powers. According to the International Monetary Fund, India’s economy will increase by 7% this year, putting the country in fifth place globally. India’s economic growth rate is long-term, and it is improving over time due to increased globalization, a low dependency ratio, investment rates, healthy savings, and global economic integration.

As India recognizes 75 years of freedom, it is clear that much has been gained since 1947. Today, India is the world’s fifth-largest economy, and has made enormous achievements in industrialization, infrastructure development, and military modernization. In this essay, we will discuss the significant factors that will contribute to India’s increased global power.

India’s Economic Development

Since its independence, India has experienced rapid economic growth. In PPP terms, India’s GDP accounts for 7.5% of the global economy. According to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), India’s GDP would increase by 7% this year, making it the world’s fifth largest. A decade ago, it was the world’s 11th-largest economy. According to the IMF, India will have the world’s fourth-biggest GDP by 2027.

Manufacturing and industry

It employs 22% of the entire workforce and accounts for 26% of GDP. The government’s emphasis on manufacturing through programs like ‘Make in India’ and policies like the ‘National Policy for Advanced Manufacturing,’ Industry 4.0, has played a vital part in increasing the manufacturing sector’s contribution to the country’s GDP to 15%. This must increase to roughly 25% in the next years.

Military Modernization in India

The lessons learnt from previous battles, the changing regional and international environment, and the attitude and ambition of key decision-makers were the primary drivers of India’s military development. During the Bangladesh crisis, the United States and China acted aggressively toward India. During the war, the presence of the US aircraft carrier Enterprise in the Indian Ocean alarmed Indian officials, shaping their strategic vision and outlook. This prompted a significant modernization effort to secure our marine borders, which spanned about 7500 kilometres.

In 2047, India will celebrate its 100th year of independence, which will be a happy event. All Indian citizens are looking forward to seeing substantial improvements within a short period of time before the final day of India’s celebration as a developed nation. Everyone in the country wants to see India rise to the top, which is attainable with progress in key areas over time. For this, the Indian government needs to concentrate on adopting policies and reviewing their effectiveness over time.

India in 2047 Global Power House Essay (700 words)

Assessing the impact of recent foundational changes and structural transformations, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) anticipated that India will be a USD 35-45 Trillion economy by 2047, putting the country in the league of industrialized nations. Today, India is the world’s fifth-largest economy, and has made enormous achievements in industrialization, infrastructure development, and military modernisation.

For the next few years, India must prioritize research and development in all policies and the worldwide emergence of power. In this essay, we will discuss the critical factors that will contribute to India’s increased global power.

To develop favourable pathways for India’s continuous growth, we must first examine what constitutes national power. India’s national might represents the embodiment of its defense power, economic strength, and political strategy. All of these characteristics are linked to the country’s strategic functions, such as industrial expansion, infrastructural development, technical progress, leadership qualities, and political stability. So, before taking any more action for India’s developing power, we should examine all of the crucial factors relating to its total expansion.

India’s Foreign Policy Excessiveness

In recent years, India has pursued a very mature and realistic foreign policy that is totally focused on its own national interests. It has refrained from identifying itself with any power bloc. Despite the Ukraine crisis, we have maintained strong diplomatic and trade connections with both the US and Russia. We have recently had regular engagements with France, Germany, and the United Kingdom, which has helped enhance our connections with the West.

We made strategic changes in the Indo-Pacific region, and QUAD was resurrected. We have also formed a considerable number of Memorandums of Understanding and strategic agreements with both Australia and Japan, providing the required teeth to our combined power. India has also made significant overtures to the Gulf countries, engaging countries such as the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, and Bahrain on a regular basis.

This prompted a significant modernization effort to secure our marine borders, which covered about 7500 kilometres. Over the years, the Indian Armed Forces have undergone significant modernization. In response to our threat perceptions, we have gradually upgraded our armament systems and platforms.

In a multipolar world, India is a responsible power. Currently a prominent force in the Indian Ocean and South Asian region, it is expected to be the second-largest economy by 2050, according to Price Waterhouse Cooper. Based on these perceptions, India has been allocated a role.

Manufacturing and industries

Over time, India has gained recognition in the manufacturing business. We can witness growth in industries such as coal, gas, iron, and petroleum, as well as steel, which will create enough for domestic and international export use. Aside from that, we will see progress in major infrastructure development, which will strengthen India’s basic needs. According to the World Bank, India’s industrial manufacturing GDP production in 2022 will rank fifth in the world in terms of current US dollars. From 2011 to 2022, GDP from Manufacturing in India averaged 4938.56 INR Billion, with a peak of 6778.59 INR Billion in the first quarter of 2021 and a low of 3331.04 INR Billion in the third quarter of 2011.

Today, we must recognize that a nation that controls commodities may rule the world. As a result, being self-sufficient in gas, oil, coal, iron, steel, petroleum products, and food grains will have a significant impact on our global significance.

Economic Growth

India’s economic growth has been considerable since independence, opening the way for other emerging powers. According to the International Monetary Fund, India’s economy will increase by 7% this year, putting the country in fifth place globally. India’s economic growth rate is long-term, and it is improving over time due to increased globalization, a low dependency ratio, investment rates, healthy savings, and global economic integration. Except for individual consumption, India’s GDP will improve to a greater extent due to government contributions, exports, and investment values.

In 2047, India will celebrate its 100th year of independence, which will be a joyous occasion.

My Vision For India in 2047 150 Words

It is my goal for India to become a powerful nation both internally and externally in the next 25 years by providing the necessary education to everyone and the opportunity to find a good job.

My vision for India of 2047 is a fully developed country where everyone has employment and no one goes hungry or needy. I also envision an India without corruption.

As I imagine India in 2047, I see it as a clean, healthy, and environment-friendly nation free of corruption and pollution. I envision it as the perfect nation for all others.

A powerful India within and outside of the country is what I envision in the next five years. This is an India where women have access to safe food and can safely walk along the streets. It is an India in which everyone has access to proper shelter and clothes.

In 2047, the government would be able to provide sufficient food for the entire population and women would be able to exercise the same rights as men, regardless of their employment status.

Toward the year 2047, my goal is for India to become the world’s most established and developed economy.

India should always be well and peaceful, regardless of whether one is rich or poor.

Essay On My Vision For India In 2047

My Vision For India in 2047 Essay 250 Words

It is known that in 2047 our country will celebrate 100 years of independence from India, and during this remaining time, I want to see the country overcome its problems such as corruption, unemployment, illiteracy and hunger. After finishing my studies in India, I intend to return whenever possible. It would be fantastic to see a high point in the region reached.

Everyone dreams of making their country great and democratic. Whatever we dream of doing, we become exactly that. In the same way, how we envision the future India will determine what it is like in 2047. Our efforts need to be combined in order to make India a better place in the future.

In order for India to move from being one of developing countries to one of developed countries, we have to make it self-sufficient. 2047 will mark 100 years of Indian independence, so it is a very important year for India.

The country we build now will be our country in 2047. In the next few years, we expect India to become a powerful country both internally and externally, free from poverty, unemployment, malnutrition, corruption, terrorism, and other evils. Our main objective as a developing country should be to strengthen our economy through radical economic reforms.

It is still common for women to experience discrimination in many places but they are still making their way out of their homes, and I envision India in 2047 as an empowered nation where women are empowered.

We need to change the mindset of the people now, so that women have as much freedom as men. In my opinion, we need to make India a country that gives women equal rights.

Women are now making their mark in different fields outside the home. Nevertheless, they remain behind men in some places even today. I envision India in 2047 as one in which women are empowered more and more. Not only do men contribute to the country’s development, but also women.

The poor children of 2047 should also receive adequate education and there should be no difference between the rich and the poor. This will make us appear as a powerful nation to everyone, making us the most powerful country in the world by 2047.

Essay On My Vision For India In 2047

Essay on My Vision For India in 2047 500 Words

We will celebrate the 100th anniversary of our independence in 2047. How can we maintain our attitude toward India when 100 years of independence will define the India of 2047? I will share my vision for India in 2047 today. In 2047, we want our India to be one of the strongest countries in the world where women are safe and everyone enjoys equal freedom. There should be a sense of brotherhood and love throughout India. There should be no distinctions based on caste, color, economic status, or race.

Education has been promoted by the government ever since independence, but some people fail to understand the importance of it. By 2047, I hope that India will become a country where education is important for everyone, so that every person can get an education. Education is an essential part of any country’s economic and social development.

In the present day, women are making a mark in a variety of fields outside the home. However, there are still some places where women lag behind men. In 2047, I envision an empowered and empowered India for women. The development of the country is not solely a men’s responsibility, but also a woman’s responsibility.

The mindset of the society needs to be changed now. As a result, women can contribute fully to the country’s development.

The number of educated people in India has increased in recent years, but they do not get good jobs because of corruption and many other factors. With today’s unemployment rate at an all-time high, getting a job as qualified becomes more and more difficult.

Despite having a high diploma, he cannot find a job today. The right person will get the job first and according to his merit in the India of 2047, not because it is reserved. Towards a better future for India. On their own.

The partition of the country in 1947 resulted in independence, but we were not able to be free from racism, religion, and belief. In some parts of the country, there is still discrimination against people of different races and religions. By elevating religion, we can contribute to the building of the India of 2047 based on a nondiscriminatory policy.

Providing people with good health facilities is my vision for India in 2047 in order to improve the health care system. In order to make India independent and healthy, we need to be stress-free and disease-free.

The corruption problem is one of the major obstacles to the country’s development. The corruption problem is one of the major obstacles to the country’s development. A country’s development is hindered by corruption. However, I would like to see India free of corruption by 2047 so that the country can advance.

Hard work and honesty can make our dreams for our country, India, come true. There are so many things we can do to make our country a better place to live in.

To make our nation great before 2047, every individual in the country needs to contribute their visions, thoughts, and reactions to make our country a great country.

Twenty-five years from now, India could exceed a per capita income of USD 26,000 – almost 13 times the current level – by unlocking some key areas that demand both investments and policy interventions .

By Ranen Banerjee

India has made significant progress over a span of three-quarters of a century since its independence. From a primarily agrarian economy in which agriculture contributes 56% 1  of the GDP, the world’s largest democracy has transformed into a predominantly services sector economy . The services sector contributes to over 50% 2  of the country’s GDP, while the share of agriculture stands at less than 20%. 3  The nation has also strengthened its physical and social infrastructure over the last 75 years; that has resulted in life expectancy increasing to 69.4 years 4  from 32.1 5  years, and maternal and infant mortality rates improving to 1.03 6  from 20, 7  and 30 8  from 133- 9  respectively.

India has created a strong economic base and is poised to achieve the status of a developed country over the next 25 years. Our projections indicate that India@2047 can exceed a per capita income of USD 26,000 – almost 13 times the current level. This is both possible and plausible in USD terms and not on purchasing power parity (PPP) terms. Such increased per capita income may be achieved on the basis of:

  • a realistic assumption of a nominal GDP growth rate of 12%
  • a modest deceleration of 0.01% in the population growth rate in a block of every five years
  • INR/USD depreciation of 2% per annum up to 2025 and thereafter appreciating 0.5% in a block of every five years.

India’s growth potential therefore makes it an attractive destination for all three types of investors – resource seekers, efficiency seekers and especially market seekers.

Destination India

For market seekers, the scale and emerging consumption patterns that India could offer over the next quarter of the century are immense. With a large domestic consumption base, seventh-highest final consumption expenditure in the world, 10  private consumption and government consumption making up over 70% of the GDP, and per capita income poised to grow at rapid rates, there are potential opportunities for market seekers. As per the World Economic Forum’s report on the Future of Consumption (2019), India will add around 140 million middle-income and 21 million high-income households by 2030. Upper middle-income and high-income households will drive 61% of the consumption in 2030 compared to 37% in 2018. 11  While there may be some undershoot of these numbers owing to disruptions caused by the pandemic, the trajectory is likely to be similar.

The median age of the Indian population is projected to be 31 in 2030 compared to 42 in China and 40 in the US, thereby making India a country with the largest working-age population in the world. 12  And by 2030, 90 million new households will be headed by millennials. These digital natives will have a vastly different approach to consumption and expectations regarding service delivery by both the Government and private sectors. With growing per capita incomes, India@2047 will be comparable to current day economies such as Spain and Portugal that currently have a per capita income of around USD 25,000. 13  However, the catchup needed to meet the aspirations of young and upwardly mobile Indians is immense. For instance, life expectancy in Spain and Portugal is around 80 years, while maternal mortality is under 0.10.

Both the Government of India (GoI) and India Inc. could aspire to achieve the economic and social outcomes for India @2047 by destressing the economic and social fault lines and reimagining the future of a committed India. To harvest the gains from the economy, India will need to unlock the following key focus areas that demand both investments and policy interventions:

Skills unlock

Education unlock, healthcare services unlock, gender unlock, logistics unlock, manufacturing unlock, regulatory unlock.

Debates around India’s demographic dividend are common. Efforts are needed to upskill millions of our working-age youth nationwide to make them industry ready and future fit for the new sets of jobs that are being created owing to the disruption of existing business models. This will also put to rest arguments about the young population being a boon or a bane.

The country stands to benefit if we are able to skill/upskill the working-age youth to make them employable not only in sectors in which India will consolidate and strengthen its manufacturing capabilities, but also in the services sectors witnessing strong growth. Acquiring relevant skill sets aligned to futuristic goods and services such as servicing of robots, repair of augmented reality (AR)/virtual reality (VR) devices, and manufacturing of chips would also be useful going forward.

Skilling India, therefore, is an urgent imperative if we are to avoid converting the demographic boon to a bane. This goal may be achieved through close cooperation between private, public and civil society organisations. One district one skill (ODOS) could be a starting point, mirroring the one district one product (ODOP) scheme. This will help build a local economy around a product with efficiencies of scale kicking in, and prevent internal migration that puts pressure on urban centres.

The Government spend in the education sector in India has been under 3.5% 14  of the GDP, compared to a global mean of about 4.5% of the GDP. We need a calibrated ramp-up of the education sector’s budget from the current levels to match global levels with a focus on spend efficiency. However, it may be noted that the Government has been cognisant of the rigidities in the Indian education system and the need to align it with present-day requirements. The new National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 is an effort in this direction, and the implementation of this policy in all earnestness is the need of the hour. The Government has also taken some steps to move away from rote learning and make education more application based. For example, the announcement of the Combined University Entrance Test (CUET) for admission to central universities instead of students’ admissions only on the basis of the marks is a step in the right direction.

Indian companies would also need to demonstrate agility by moving to skill-based hiring rather than qualification-based hiring. This will allow students to explore skill development rather than pursue degrees over longer time periods. It would also enhance quality as skill-based courses will focus on improving workforce excellence. The standard of teachers and their remuneration would also need specific interventions from the Central and state governments.

The WHO/UNICEF Joint Monitoring Programme  estimated that India incurred a loss of USD 189 billion (7.9% of the GDP) 15  in 2015 owing to households with poor sanitation facilities. A year prior to that the GoI launched the Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) to make India Open Defecation Free (ODF) and improve sanitation facilities in households. The WHO/UNICEF report also estimated that if SBM achieved its intended objectives, the amount of losses incurred would be reduced to USD 64 billion or 2.7% of the GDP. These numbers show the importance of improving health services and access to healthcare facilities.

The Government has done well in strengthening the primary health centre (PHC) network. The next stage of the PHC evolution will be the introduction of  telemedicine in these centres. The proliferation of  smartphones in the country may be leveraged to spread awareness on health and hygiene, and that could help reduce the unproductive days of the workforce owing to illnesses and health issues.

The National Health Insurance scheme could be a game changer in the development of secondary and tertiary healthcare infrastructure. Quality checks and incentivisation can be introduced through this insurance scheme to prompt the health facilities to deliver quality health services. For example, a health facility delivering better quality of service could be given monetary recognition, and district-level competitions between health service providers based on patient feedback could also be organised.

India was spending an average of less than 1.5% of its GDP on health before increasing it to over 2% 16  during the pandemic. Spain and Portugal spend around 6% and 8% of their GDP respectively on public health. India, therefore, needs to not only prioritise its spending on public health but also increase it significantly over the coming years to yield rich dividends for the economy.

The labour force participation rate (LFPR) in India is around 40% 17  compared to over 74% in Spain and around 75% in Portugal. 18  The primary reason for this low LFPR is the absence of women from the workforce in India with a female LFPR of around 20%. 19  The female LFPR in Portugal is 72% while for Spain, it is 69%. 20

If we are to increase our numbers we would need to  ensure that girls complete their education and find jobs. The ODOS scheme suggested earlier could have a sub-component such as one district one women skill (ODOWS) to provide skilling opportunities to women and make them more locally employable. Women earning and proactively participating in the workforce positively impact a family’s prosperity, can help eradicate poverty and strengthen the journey  towards building a prosperous, safe and healthy India@2047.

The logistics cost incurred by India is estimated to be 14% of its GDP. According to a NITI Aayog RMI India report, the target is to reduce this to 10%. There are huge inefficiencies in the logistics chain owing to which there are several negative consequences such as sub-optimal use of logistics assets, inefficient fuel consumption, environmental pollution and loss of economic growth opportunities.

The GoI has launched Gati Shakti with a stated vision of incorporating infrastructure schemes of various ministries and state governments such as Bharatmala, Sagarmala, inland waterways, dry/land ports, and Ude Desh ka Aam Nagarik (UDAN). Economic zones such as textile clusters, pharmaceutical clusters, defence corridors, electronic parks, industrial corridors, fishing clusters and agri zones will also be covered to improve connectivity and make Indian businesses more competitive. India will also leverage technology extensively, including spatial planning tools. This is an important initiative and is likely to unlock the logistics bottlenecks currently faced by the Indian economy.

India has been aspiring to grow its manufacturing sector to account for 25% of the economy from the current levels of around 15%. 21  The recent supply chain shocks experienced by companies and countries owing to the pandemic and fractured geopolitics present a unique opportunity to India to dominate this space.

The GoI’s Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme has been launched at an opportune time to ride this growth wave. Simultaneously, India needs to focus on new-age manufacturing in the areas of space, telecom, renewables and metaverse devices. The National Skill Development Mission should also work towards making such skills available for the new-age manufacturing sector.

There has been an enhanced focus on improving ease of doing business (EoDB) in India, with states competing to secure the top EoDB rank. There have also been significant improvements in the processes for setting up a business, obtaining approvals and conducting various inspections related to the running of a business.

However, sharper focus is needed in the challenging areas of contract enforcement, payments and dispute resolution. It may help to get all parties to adhere to the contractual terms. Judiciary support will be required to this end, by way of raising the bar for entertaining appeals on the outcome of arbitration proceedings. Similarly, the Government being the largest procurer should generally accept arbitration outcomes and go for further litigation in exceptional circumstances, improve its payment cycle for reducing the working capital requirements of businesses and free up locked capital for further sweating. Fast Track Commercial Dispute courts for enforcement of contracts could be another mechanism for the Government to explore.

Future-fit India

These unlock measures will require significant financial resources from the Government. The tax-to-GDP ratio for India has inched up to around 12%. 22  Spain and Portugal have a tax-to-GDP ratio of over 35%. 23  In the years to come, progressive formalisation and digitalisation of the Indian economy are likely to continue to provide buoyancy in the tax revenues, and the Government should have adequate resources to finance India’s journey towards becoming a developed country.

The Government has also embarked upon an asset monetisation scheme to mobilise resources and subsequently enhance its ability to advance infrastructure investments needed without negatively impacting fiscal health. It could also consider unlocking the logistics jam through infrastructure projects having cash flows and securitising those future cash flows instead of funding such projects from its annual budget. This could help the Government undertake more infrastructure projects without negatively impacting the budget deficits, much to the satisfaction of sovereign ratings agencies that frown upon higher deficits. The intent for the same has already been demonstrated through significantly higher allocation towards capital expenditure in the Union Budget for FY 2022-23.

The Indian economy, with its natural shock absorbers, has strong fundamentals built over 75 years and is highly resilient, as has been proved time and again. It owes its financial markets resilience to the growth of domestic institutional investors (DIIs) that stepped in when foreign institutional investors (FIIs) began exiting with the US Fed taper. It owes its tax revenue resilience to the increasing digitalisation and formalisation of the economy. India’s energy resilience emanates from the growth of renewables and ethanol in the energy mix. And last but not the least, its demand resilience arises from the large consumer base responsible for making India’s medium- and long-term economic outlook very strong.

India holds out hope of putting forward its best thinking to unlock these key areas. If all stakeholders come together as a community of solvers to put their might behind it, India@2047 will be firmly gliding through the expressway of a developed economy.

Essay on My Vision for India in 2047 for Class 9 Students

The essay on “My Vision for India in 2047” for the 9th-class students is as follows:

Our beloved Country India will achieve 100 years of Independence from the Britishers in the year 2047. Now the coming next 25 years will play a significant role in the success of India globally. The government of India has also termed the coming 25 years of India as the “Azadi ka Amrit Kaal”. These coming 25 years have been seen by the government as well as the citizens of our country as the game-changing era for our country. The government of India has come up with multiple policies that will change the face of our country globally in the coming years. These policies will surely make India a developed and most importantly a nation which is independent with respect to all needs in the year 2047.

Today the whole world is watching us and can see how India is prospering in various fields. India can be seen moving forward in the fields such as Defence, Information Technology, Space and many Foreign Policies. In 2047, I envision India as one of the top nations which have the best technology and a major participant in contributing to the world in every field.

India @2047

In the year 2047, I visualize India as one of the top countries in the world. I especially want pollution to be eradicated from India as pollution is one of the major problems in our country today. Today the pollution level of Delhi, which is the capital city of our Country, is the worst among many countries. This is basically caused by diesel and petrol cars. Pollution is rising day by day. Therefore, the one and only solution to this problem is replacing them with electric cars. I want these petrol and diesel cars to be replaced by electric cars in India in the year 2047. In addition to this, the government can also use CNG cars instead of them.

Pollution in India

Poverty is another issue which will be completely eradicated from every society in India in the year 2047. The current situation in India is not good with respect to poverty. Poverty can be seen in every part of India. Many people and children are dying due to this. Furthermore, poverty is due to many reasons. One of the reasons is that the people are not educated. Due to the lack of education, people are not getting jobs and the result of this is poverty.

I see India as poverty free in the year 2047 as the current government has taken massive steps to reduce poverty in India. The government has initiated many courses to teach the skills to the students so that they can join the manufacturing industries. In the year 2047, India would be free of poverty due to the current policies initiated by the government of India.

Poverty in India

In the 100th year of independence, I see India as a country which is full of opportunities for the young people of India. In addition to this, I see India as the most prosperous country where every citizen is poverty free. I want to see my country in 2047 as a country which provides equal opportunity to male and female citizens of the nation. My vision for India in 2047 is a country where its citizens can breathe clean air. A country which does not rely on any other country to fulfil the basic needs of its citizens.

Essay on My Vision for India in 2047 for Class 10 Students

The Essay for the 10 th class students on ” My Vision for India in 2047″ has been provided below:

Since its Independence, India has seen many changes in the terms of technology, science, Space programs or when we talk about defence establishments. We are already in the 75th year of Independence and are looking forward to the 25 years ahead. We are in the phase of continuous development. India has gone through a famous economic depression in the year 1991. Afterwards, we reached the stage in which we have become the world’s 5th largest economy in the world. There is no doubt about us that we have achieved many goals in the span of 15 years only. In addition to this, the current government of India under the leadership of honourable Prime Minister Mr Nareandra Modi has set the goal to make India one of the most developed countries in the coming 25 Years.

In the year 2047, I see India as a country which is one of the most developed nations in the world. My vision for India in the year 2047 is that it has completely neutralised air pollution all over our country. I see Indian citizens in 2047 using public transport as their conveyance used to travel to their work and back home. I visualize Indian cities completely free of petrol and diesel vehicles. I see people using bicycles as a substitute for visiting the places near them. In 2047, people will completely switch to electric vehicles and CNG vehicles. As a result, we will see fewer diseases related to air pollution. There will be fewer citizens who will die of strokes and lung cancer which are caused by Air Pollution.

Women Empowerment

One of my visions for India in 2047 is that there we will see women empowered. We have currently experienced that most Indian women are not independent in terms of finance and many other important aspects. They are not included in making a decision whether we see this in the workplace or in our home. They are just limited to household chores. But the current Indian government has taken many impressive steps to empower the woman of our nation. Today, women are taking initiative by joining many multinational companies and getting paid a decent salary. Therefore, if we talk about the year 2047, then I am sure that we will see Indian women who will be definitely financially empowered and independent. They will surely overtake the men in building our nation in the year 2047.

Above all, I want India to be independent in all fields in the year 2047. I envision India as the world’s most developed nation. In the 100th year of Independence, I see India as the largest economy in the whole world. Furthermore, I visualize my country as a superpower. I see it as the nation which is there to support each and every nation which is in mid of a crisis. India in 2047 is also the nation which will completely abolish cast discrimination. Cast Discrimination is also one of the problems of today’s India. Many people are exploited due to this and are not given equal opportunities in various fields. However, the cases have come down drastically in recent years.

On this Independence day, the honourable PM addressed the nation from the Red Fort and laid the base for the coming 25 years. As we have seen our developments in recent years India is destined to be the superpower in the year 2047.

Vision for India @ 2047

Apart from the above points of Pollution and women’s empowerment, the students referring to the above essay can also include the following points:

  • Information Technology -India will lead all the other countries in the field of Information Technology in the year 2047.
  • Manufacturing of Defence Equipment -In the field of defence, India is not self-reliant and is dependent on many foreign countries. In 2047, India will be an independent country and manufacture its own defence equipment.
  • Digitising the remote areas of the country. In 2047, India will be covered by the Internet even to the farthest villages.
  • Space Programme -ISRO has been making endeavours to launch various satellites and land on the moon. India will surely be ahead of Developed countries in the space program in the year 2047.
  • Vaccines and Medicine Manufacture r-In the 100th year of Independence, India will also be seen as the largest producer of Medicines and vaccines across the world.

Why India’s Political Opposition Is So Weak

India-Opposition

W hen more than two dozen opposition parties in India announced they would band together as the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (or INDIA) last June, critics of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party were hopeful they could pose a formidable challenge to the widely popular incumbent government. But weeks before voting in the country’s general election gets underway, the big-tent alliance is fractured from infighting, clashes, and competing interests. Worse still, a crackdown on the opposition by the Indian government has now reached what Amnesty describes as “a crisis point.”

“We are seeing a situation where opposition parties are very, very weakened as we approach elections,” says Anjali Bhardwaj, the founder of Satark Nagrik Sangathan, a Delhi-based citizens’ group working to promote transparency and accountability in government. “They have been attacked, their leaders are either under arrest or being seriously investigated, and their homes and offices are being raided.”

The latest—and perhaps most historic—blow to the opposition occurred on March 21, when Delhi’s chief minister Arvind Kejriwal was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), a federal economic law enforcement agency, for bribery in awarding liquor licenses to contractors in the national capital nearly two years prior—allegations that he denies. Several others connected to the case are also in jail on graft charges.

Kejriwal’s arrest sparked mass outrage in Delhi, with protestors taking to the streets to demand the release of one of the country’s most influential and outspoken critics of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. As the leader of the Aam Aadmi Party, or AAP, which currently controls state governments in the national capital region and Punjab, he is considered a thorn in the side of the government.

The buck doesn’t stop at Kejriwal and his party. India’s biggest and main opposition party, the Indian National Congress, has accused the government of hampering its ability to campaign by freezing its bank accounts over a tax dispute from 2018. That’s after Congress leader and party scion Rahul Gandhi was given a two-year jail sentence last March on defamation charges that were later suspended by the Indian Supreme Court. Gandhi united with other opposition party leaders to protest in the nation’s capital on Sunday, where he told the crowd that Modi was “trying match-fixing in this election.”

Though Kejriwal’s arrest is not exactly a surprise, it nevertheless raises eyebrows when one considers that Modi has little to fear in this election. The Indian leader has seen a surge in popularity following the Ram Temple inauguration in the city of Ayodhya earlier this year, a capstone for a powerful leader who has built a mass following on religious nationalism. A recent survey found that 78% of those polled approved of Modi. Pundits predict an easy win for the BJP.

“Mr. Modi is a popular leader who has garnered a lot of support amongst people in the Hindu majority,” contends Bhardwaj, “but we are also seeing a complete crackdown on political opposition and the capture of institutions.” The result is a situation where “someone who is portraying himself as a strong leader is popular, and then using the machinery to stay in power,” she says.

With the election a mere 17 days away, all eyes are now on India’s opposition to see if it can successfully sound the alarm on the prospect of a constitutional crisis. The big question, says Bhardwaj, is “how free and fair the elections are likely to be with these kinds of challenges.”

The weaponization of institutions

Political experts say the key reason behind the decline in India’s opposition is that many of the important institutions essential to the functioning of democracy—such as independent media or the judiciary—have been captured by those in power.

For example, in the 2014 elections, corruption was a prominent theme in the BJP’s platform, helping create a wave against the incumbent Congress party at the time. “Thousands of people gathered on the streets in Delhi to protest against corruption, and it was reported very extensively by the mainstream media,” recalls Bhardwaj.

But over the last decade, India’s mainstream media has largely come under the control of large corporations whose CEOs often rub shoulders with the prime minister. “Since mainstream media is effectively an echo chamber celebrating the Modi government, it is unsurprising that the opposition struggles,” says Maya Tudor, an associate professor at Oxford’s Blavatnik School of Government.

Even when the media covers issues of importance to the Indian electorate, Bhardwaj says it fails to question the timing or manner in which certain events occur. For example, Kejriwal’s arrest has been portrayed in the mainstream media as though “the party in power is really serious about fighting corruption,” Bhardwaj says, while little attention has been given to the timing of the arrest, which occurred mere weeks before the election.

Space for civil society has also shrunk through the use of various laws and institutions, leading to a chilling effect on protest. Police have quelled peaceful protests and thrown activists and dissidents into jail using draconian anti-terrorism laws. The courts have mostly refrained from granting bail to many of these individuals.

Federal investigating bodies like the ED and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) have worked to strengthen the government's policies or actions by going after their critics. According to an investigation by the national outlet Indian Express , some 95% of the agencies’ investigations since 2014 have focused on the opposition. Under the previous government, that number was much lower, with 54% of ED and 60% of CBI investigations probing the opposition.

As a result, Bhardwaj says that many of the issues that would “ordinarily bother voters and capture their imagination”—such as unemployment, inflation, corruption, or the incarceration of civil society leaders—“are not finding prominence” among the Indian public.

AAP, Congress Announce Alliance In Delhi, Four Other States

A united front, but fractured alliances

The BJP has denied political meddling to stifle the opposition, arguing that Congress is “conveniently blaming their irrelevance on ‘financial troubles.’” Yet, several opposition leaders mired in corruption investigations have usually seen those charges get dropped when they joined the ruling party. “All cases against them seem to go into cold storage,” says Bhardwaj.

The Wire, an Indian outlet, recently published a report that found at least 12 opposition leaders across Indian states joined the BJP while facing criminal charges in the past several months. This is also what happened with Nitish Kumar, the chief minister of Bihar, who earlier this year jumped ship to the BJP just before the ED planned to arrest him on charges of money laundering.

There’s even a term coined for this phenomenon. “We have started referring to it as the ‘washing machine effect,’” says Bhardwaj, which has in turn lent credence to the idea that opposition leaders are more interested in power over political ideology in serving their electorate.

The INDIA alliance has made little headway in presenting itself as a united front in challenging Modi, thanks to factional infighting and conflicts in seat-sharing negotiations. The Congress Party, which dominated politics after India’s independence in 1947, has increasingly fielded its own candidates to fill seats in a majority of the states, alienating regional parties, many of whom were already at loggerheads with each other across state lines. This has also contributed to the loss of another critical figurehead, Mamata Banerjee—the head of the All India Trinamool Congress—who in January declared that her party would run independently.

All this has amounted to, at best, a weak attempt to challenge Modi’s popularity. “Oppositions turn out incumbent governments most effectively when they coordinate a single opposition candidate per district and when they are ideologically unified,” says Tudor, whose research looks at what electoral conditions must be met to succeed in India’s elections.

Put simply, “the opposition has not done a great job meeting these criteria,” she says.

essay on india 2047

Bhopal, Apr 4 (PTI) BJP leader Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Thursday said that being a visionary leader, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is not thinking of today but preparing a roadmap for India in 2047.

The former Madhya Pradesh chief minister was here to meet the BJP’s Hoshangabad candidate Darshan Choudhry who would be filing his nomination papers during the day.

“Our prime minister is a visionary leader and he does not think of today. How India will be in 2047…. Modi is planning this today. Not just (next) five years,” Chouhan told reporters in Hoshangabad district, now known as Narmadapuram.

“On the one hand, the 100 days agenda after the new government is formed is already prepared as this government is coming back, there is no doubt about it. It will cross the 370- as well as 400-mark. But how India will be in 2047, its roadmap is being prepared,” he said, when asked about the BJP’s manifesto committee meeting in Delhi which he will be attending.

“Developed India is our resolve, and the BJP and the prime minister have invited suggestions from the people. Based on them, the manifesto will be finalized,” he said.

The BJP has decided to make women in the country ‘Lakhpati Didi’, Chouhan said, adding, “There will not be any tears in the eyes of our sisters and they will have smiles on their faces. We have to support their economic, social, educational and political empowerment.” Later, speaking at a public meeting, Chouhan said nobody can stop India from becoming a “Vishwa Guru” (world’s teacher) in the days to come.

Targeting Congress and the opposition’s “INDI alliance”, Chouhan said not only they do not have a leader, but they also lack policy and intentions.

After Independence, Mahatma Gandhi had called for Congress’s dissolution, but then prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru did not heed the advice, the BJP leader said.

“But Rahul Gandhi has resolved that he would not stop till he finishes the Congress,” he said on a sarcastic note.

He also criticized the Congress for turning down invitation for the consecration ceremony at the Ram temple in Ayodhya, saying the party had lost its senses.

“Today, there is an exodus of leaders from the party and nobody can save it,” Chouhan added. PTI MAS KRK
