My Best Friend

The most influential relationship I’ve had in my life has been with my best friend of the last seven years, Karsyn. She was one of the first people I got to know after moving to West Virginia. When I first met her, we could not have been more different. There was nothing we had in common besides the fact that we were on the same volleyball team. Even though we are not the same people we were in sixth grade, that statement still holds true to this day.

The fact that I actually met my best friend is somewhat of a miracle; it almost never happened. When I was in the seventh grade, my sisters and me were going to different churches. I had been going to the same church since I was in the second grade, while at the time my sisters had been going to a different church for over a year. My mother decided it was time that I went to their church instead of the one I was currently attending. I, of course, hated this idea. I had never felt so strongly about something in my entire life. All my friends were at that church and I had no reason to want to leave. However, I didn’t have a choice, and had to go to Sunday service the next day at a completely new church.

It was 1923 when a dog named Hachiko was adopted by Eizaburo Ueno. Hachiko would go to the train station everyday with Eizaburo, and come back to the train station when Eizaburo’s train would return. When Eizaburo died at work, Hachiko would still go to the train station everyday to wait for him. Hachiko died of old age, waiting at the trainstation for his master's return. The story of Hachiko is a story of true friendship between man and animal. It reminds me of the friendship I have with my cat, Sami. Sami is always there for me,she my family and my best friend.

Time really doesn’t heal; it just blurs things. It will never pull a cover over my best friends face or hide the fact that I hurt him in the worst way. Joseph was a quirky guy with thick, brown, curly hair who wore glasses that were too big for his face. His pants didn't fit him right, he always tucked in his shirts, and he smelled like fresh laundry.

Aletha C. Middleton once stated, “God picks the perfect flowers and lets the others grow, He takes the sweetest blossoms for they are ready to go.” My best friend, Stephanie Elysse Inman, suddenly and unexpectedly passed away on Friday, October 28th, at 11:48AM. Not a day goes by that Stephanie is not on my mind. Her death has taught me many life lessons, but the most important lesson was to live each day to the fullest.

June 9, the day my best friend Abby, had gotten her first boyfriend. Don’t get me wrong, at the time I was more than happy for her but little did I know that this would change everything, and I mean everything. I can't pinpoint the exact reason that lead to our friendship ending but it all comes down to the fact that it no longer exists. It was a warm, crisp day; with red and yellow leaves scattered down the path. I was alone, which isn't a surprise because I don't have many friends. Leah would have loved this I thought. Leah was a talll, blond haired, blue eyed girl with the brightest smile.Leah just happened to be my best and only true friend. You know what they say, every brunette needs a blonde best friend. Even though I didn't have much I had a loving family and a best friend, what else would I need. Our lives were perfect, until the morning of October 12. October 12, the day he showed up. He was a new kid named Gage. Gage was a junior just like us and had the first class of the day with Leah and I. We gave him a tour of the school and told him the basic new kid story. Ya know, if you need anything, just ask and i'll help, that kinda spill. Everything was normal, then Leah and Gage started hanging out more, just like we use to. As time went on they got closer and me and Leah got farther apart. I would sit with them at lunch, but that was basically it after Gage showed up. I was happy for her, she found someone who loved her for who she was.

Throughout my seventeen years of living my life there had been major issues that I didn’t think I would be able to get through. Dealing with all the enemies and troubled people I experienced in my lifetime already. One relationship I can say that was difficult and sometimes still is to maintain is my best friend Anna. Usually best friends would be similar, and that is why they are best friends from all the similarities. Anna and I are actually completely different people and that what made us stronger. From her being my opposite helped me to become the person I am today, which is being more wise , enthusiastic, and creative. Sometimes our opposites make us stronger than we were before.

I knew something was wrong the summer my best friend walked through me. Katie was like any other normal eight year old. She loved princesses, castles, and had an imagination like I had never experienced. Katie and I had been friends since she was two years old and had always been inseparable. Everywhere Katie went, I went. Our friendship was one of perfection, filled with elegant tea parties, heroic missions, and sleepy bedtime ballads. Katie was my everything and I was hers, at least until that day on the playground.

At the start of our sophomore year, everything seemed so promising. We were the closest we had ever been, and we had so many plans. I was getting my license, we were going to get to drive ourselves to snowflake, and we were going to be best friends all year. Within a few months, however, our harmony began to decline. She and I both began going down different paths. I missed her. I missed her a lot. I missed the times when we would do everything together, and I missed the times when we would walk to class together. I never thought those moments would come to an end but at least we were still friends. The end of sophomore year was an utter tragedy. Everything around me began to crumble as our friendship ended. I had been a terrible friend to her, and she couldn't deal with it anymore. I knew it was all my fault, but I acted like I didn’t care and like I had done nothing. Everything felt exceptionally sad all the time, but I knew I could live without her. I was wrong.

If you don’t celebrate those, they can pass you by.” One of my best memories was with my mother, my mother’s best friend Tonia, Tonia's daughter Sophia, my mother’s other friend Tina, and her daughter Danielle. It was the occasion when we stayed in a beautiful cabin located at the Mountain Air Golf Resort in Burnsville, NC. This memory stays forever lively in my mind, something unforgettable, still to this day.

I remember it like it was yesterday. Standing in front of the camera with a dirty white rag around my neck. Wearing the all-orange jumpsuit and the uncomfortable orange slippers. "Stand up straight and look forward." The only thing that was going through my head while the officer was instructing me as he took my mug shots was how everybody was going to know. "Now, turn to your right." Not only was I embarrassed but I was scared and I had this mega hatred towards my best friend.

Gorham, Maine, was a large town, surrounded by boring history from pilgrims and greasy pizzerias that stunk of moldy tomato sauce. I was in 4th grade, and I had a lot of friends. My best friend’s name was Christian, he would do every bad thing you could imagine from cussing out kids on the playground to getting in random fights. I’m not really sure how we became friends, but we did anyway. Even though the area where I grew up was rough. I liked it a lot. I had awesome friends and an awesome neighborhood were I was able to ride my bike everywhere and go down to the pond to catch some frogs. I had my mind set and I didn’t want to move. At the time I played multiple sports, and soccer was my favorite. I loved playing defense, and laying people out when they would come onto my side of the field. I also liked it because I started every game and was never subbed off. Anyway after a long day at school I would take the bus home with my only brother who was always annoying and frustrating because he never liked to try anything new. Like that time when we were at my grandmas house and he wouldn’t even try to eat a piece of salad. God he was frustrating, another time we went skiing and he was afraid of going down the hill. Everyday we entered Ms.Linda’s creeky, bacteria filled bus that was coated in sticky sugar juice from the other kids.

It is remarkable how much a single person can influence another's life. Since November 25, 2001 you have always been by my side and been there when I needed you. To this day you are still my largest role model and I still look up to you.
