Eregion Spear

Crafted using an Elven technique, the Eregion Spear is an incredibly powerful Tier 2 weapon. It is unlocked when players repair the Great Forge of Narvi . This one-handed spear is good for rapid single-target attacks and is also relatively fast to swing during battle.

Last Alliance Maul

The Last Alliance Maul is a legendary one-handed bludgeoning weapon. It is the weapon of choice for battling the Bolgakh, one of Return to Moria ’s enemy bosses. Players can unlock the Last Alliance Maul by repairing the two Destroyed Statues in the Mines of Moria.

Belegost Halberd

The Belegost Halberd is said to be one of the most powerful Dwarven weapons ever created. It is a Tier 3 weapon, unlocked when players access the Great Belegost Forge. This two-handed slashing weapon is designed to cut and slice enemies with tough hides.

First Age Greatsword

Another Tier 3 weapon, the First Age Greatsword is a two-handed blade that can slash most enemies, even armored ones. It is unlocked by repairing Destroyed Statues in the Lower Deeps. 6 Best Weapons in The Finals

1. Flamethrower (Heavy)

The Finals best weapon Flamethrower

  • Class: Heavy
  • Clip Size: 30
  • Reload Time: 3.5 seconds

In one instance, I picked this gun and immediately rushed inside a building with four opponents, dealing so much AoE damage that at least two of them immediately died because of the cramped area. Hence, use the Flamethrower if you are in an enclosed place. So, if you want to enjoy playing a heavy build, consider unlocking this weapon.

2. SA1216 (Heavy)

The Finals best weapon SA1216

3. FCAR (Medium)

6 Best Weapons in The Finals

  • Class: Medium
  • Clip Size: 20
  • Reload Time: 2 seconds

Furthermore, unlike the AKM, the FCAR has a holo attachment. This means that you get a better range when shooting distant targets. The damage of FCAR is so good that you can almost one-clip mag a medium and take out 70-75% of health off a heavy. So, if you play medium and you want a gun that allows you to take care of enemies effortlessly, try this one.

4. SR-84 (Light)

SR-84

  • Class: Light

5. R .375 (Medium)

R .375

  • Reload Time: 2.15 seconds

6. V9S (Light)

V95

  • Clip Size: 24
  • Reload Speed: 1.3 seconds

The V9S is one of the most overpowered weapons in the Finals right now. Yes, this is one of my favorite weapons in the light class for, well, obvious reasons. For one, V9S is a jack-of-all-trades weapon. On close-range, you can take out your opponents without any problems like a sub-machine gun. At a distance, you can time your shots and take them out with some accurate shots. A well-placed headshot will only take out 30% of health. However, because of its fast rate of fire, consecutive shots will eat up most of the opponent’s health quickly.

More people are working multiple jobs, Labor Dept. says

(CNN) - A growing number of Americans are working multiple jobs, according to the October jobs report from the Labor Department.

The latest jobs report from the Labor Department shows nearly 8.4 million people had multiple jobs in October.

That’s the highest number since the start of the pandemic, and women appear to be leading that trend.

The federal data shows nearly 6% of women worked multiple jobs in October, compared to 4.7% of men.

“Everything has gotten so expensive in the last couple of years. Our cost of living has almost tripled since 2020,” said Angela Mangapane, community resource coordinator for United Way Horry County in South Carolina.

Experts said people may be taking on additional jobs to offset high inflation, which has been easing but is still painfully high for some households.

Nonprofits like the United Way said inflation is outpacing wage growth, and that’s making it harder for them to help families.

“Wages do not reflect how important they are to everyday living,” Mangapane said.

Remote work also offers more flexibilty and opportunities for workers to manage several jobs from home.

And there’s also fear that layoffs could have people looking for supplemental jobs. But one economist said layoffs are actually historically low right now.

“Companies are reluctant to, to lose their workers, and they’re willing to negotiate even higher salaries to keep them,” said Nela Richardson, ADP chief economist.

U.S. employers added only 150,000 jobs last month, the smallest gain since June signaling the economy is slowing and signaling that the Federal Reserve’s action to tame inflation may be working.

“The question is how quickly is it working? We’re still far from the 2% target. Um, but ... inflation has come down quite a bit,” Richardson said.

Overview [ ]

Unlike previous installments, weapons in Fallout 4 fall under three classifications, including normal, legendary, and unique. Normal weapons have no special bonuses on them whatsoever. Legendary weapons come with random bonuses applied to them and are only dropped by legendary enemies. Unique weapons are weapons that are already named and will always retain the same special bonuses. Uniques are typically either bought from merchants or are quest rewards. Normal and legendary weapons will change their name when mods are applied, unique weapons will not.

All stats are given with standard weapon modifications.

Weapon statistics [ ]

Ballistic weapons [ ], pistols [ ], shotguns [ ], pipe weapons [ ], heavy weapons [ ].

A quick note on damage types: The flamer and heavy incinerator do not deal fire damage like an Incendiary weapon does or ballistic damage like a Molotov cocktail, instead dealing energy (and, for the incinerator, ballistic) damage; the Cryolator deals neither cryo damage nor ballistic damage (like a cryo mine and cryogenic grenade do), instead dealing energy damage (and ballistic when crystallizing); the Fat Man does not deal any sort of radiation damage (like a nuke mine or Nuka-grenade do).

Energy weapons [ ]

All these weapons count as non-automatic weapons and thus work with either Gunslinger , Rifleman , or Sniper , except the Cryolator, which is counted as a heavy gun and thus works with Heavy Gunner .

Radiation weapons [ ]

These weapons produce radiation damage, including both direct damage from explosions and damage over time from exposure and poisoning. There is some variance in how damage is dealt within this class of weapon; please consult each weapon's page for specific details. See the radiation page for how radiation damage is handled by the game. These are affected by the perk Nuclear Physicist in terms of radiation damage.

Poison weapons [ ]

Poison weapons utilize the poison damage type to deal ongoing damage to targets.

Explosives [ ]

Explosives have a maximum range of 93 and behave as if hitting an invisible wall at their maximum range. Explosives benefit from the Bloody Mess , Demolition Expert and SCAV! - Cautionary Crafts perks, but only for their "primary" damage effects (which also includes the "Explosive" legendary prefix .) This is why the pulse grenade and pulse mine are not affected by any of the three.

Grenade throwing distance is not affected by character strength. It is affected by the vertical throwing angle, and the height difference between the throwing point and the impact point.

Faction explosives [ ]

Melee weapons [ ].

Energy

Bladed weapons can dismember limbs of humanoid opponents, permanently damaging the limb and disarming the target. Like all melee weapons, bladed weapons benefit from Big Leagues and Strength . Bladed weapons can be Medium (attack speed 1 attack per 1.1180 seconds, equivalent to a ranged weapon with a fire rate of 8.94, which would display as 8), Fast (attack speed 1 attack per 0.7718 seconds, equivalent to a ranged weapon with a fire rate of 12.96, which would display as 12), or Very Fast; because all Very Fast weapons are also automatic, in practice they have an attack rate of 4.5364 attacks per second, which is equivalent to 1 attack per 0.2204 seconds, or a ranged weapon with an attack rate of 45.364, which would display as 45.

Blunt weapons tend to stagger opponents more frequently than bladed weapons. Like all melee weapons, blunt weapons benefit from Big Leagues and Strength . Blunt weapons are always Medium (attack speed 1 attack per 1.118 seconds, equivalent to a ranged weapon with a fire rate of 8.94, which would display as 8) or Slow (attack speed 1 attack per 1.7641 seconds, equivalent to a ranged weapon with a fire rate of 5.67, which would display as 5).

Unarmed weapons [ ]

Renaming weapons [ ].

In Fallout 4 the player is able to rename any weapon, including unique weapons, at any weapons workbench. However, the Silver submachine gun, the Survivor's Special, Ashmaker, and Grognak's axe cannot be renamed, nor will they pick up any prefixes from modding (if they can be modded). Renaming weapons does not affect any weapon stats. This primarily adds a level of personalization to weapons and can help avoid accidentally disassembling a favored weapon.

  • Special and accented characters (i.e. alt-codes) can be used when renaming a weapon, but some of those will be replaced with "?".
  • Since patch 1.3, HTML tags (e.g. <u>, <i>) can no longer be used to change the appearance of the weapon's name.

Weapons may be modified in Fallout 4 . Each weapon has modification "slots" (e.g. barrel, grip, magazine, sights) that may be modified with increasingly powerful or useful mods by the player character based on their perks. However, the player character may salvage useful mods that are not yet available via the player character's perk level by simply modifying any weapon that already has the mod of interest. [5] By replacing the mod of interest with any available mod the original mod goes into inventory and may then be used to alter the player character's chosen weapon without regard for their perk level. Unique weapons do not offer this capability; their special mods are 'reserved' and since they are unique, no other examples are available to be salvaged. However it is possible to do the reverse, that is, to transfer standard mods from standard weapons onto unique and legendary weapons.

If a player character puts any weapons, including unique and legendary weapons, in a container in a settlement, nearby NPCs, like settlers or even enemy attackers, can randomly take them and they may be irretrievable. This cannot be totally prevented by any form of barrier or obstacle. Store valuable weapons in an unpopulated settlement, in an interior cell, or on a weapon rack .

US plans $425 million Ukraine weapons aid announcement

The Scranton Army Ammunition Plant in Scranton, Pennsylvania

WASHINGTON, Nov 2 (Reuters) - The Biden administration plans to announce a $425 million military aid package for Ukraine on Friday including counter drone rockets and munitions, two U.S. officials said on Thursday.

The package is not expected to include additional ATACMS missiles. Senior congressional Republicans have urged President Joe Biden to send longer-range missiles to Ukraine , despite pushback from some conservative lawmakers against more aid.

The planned aid package for Ukraine includes about $300 million worth of laser-guided munitions to shoot down Russian drones, according to a document seen by Reuters and one of the officials. The funds for those munitions come from the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI) program, which allows the Biden administration to buy weapons from industry rather than pull from U.S. weapons stocks.

The remainder of the $125 million worth of weapons pledges include additional munitions for National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile Systems (NASAMS) air defenses, munitions for High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS), 105 and 155 millimeter artillery, TOW anti-tank weapons, Claymore anti-personnel mines, small arms, and a dozen trucks, according to the officials who spoke on condition of anonymity.

Those weapons pledges are made possible by utilizing Presidential Drawdown Authority (PDA), which authorizes Biden to transfer articles and services from U.S. stocks without congressional approval during an emergency. The material will come from excess U.S. inventory.

The Biden administration still has about $5 billion of congressionally granted presidential drawdown authority, after the Pentagon found in June it had overestimated the value of arms shipped to Ukraine due to a $6.2 billion accounting error .

The package was still being finalized and could change, the officials said.

Since the Russian invasion in February 2022 the U.S. has sent about $44 billion worth of security assistance to Ukraine.

What are Class 4 Weapons? (The Ultimate Guide)

help 4 weapon

What are Class 4 Weapons?

Class 4 weapons (also known as Class IV weapons) are identified by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) as Destructive Devices.

According to the National Firearms Act of 1934, a destructive device is defined as any explosive device, any weapon that launches a projectile through an explosive, or any firearm that sprays fire.

So, bombs, mortar launchers, and artillery pieces!

NFA Weapon Types

Before we get into all of the weapon classes, it’s helpful to define some terms that you’ll see later. After all, laws and regulations can vary greatly depending on the meaning of words.

The firearms below are regulated by the ATF under the NFA. Explosive devices are regulated under the Organized Crime Control Act.

What does this mean?

This means that ownership, transfer, and manufacturing of any of the firearms listed below will require an extensive background check, paying $200 excise tax, and submitting an ATF form.

Short Barreled Shotgun

help 4 weapon

A shotgun with a barrel shorter than 18 inches. This also includes a weapon made from a shotgun with a barrel that’s less than 18 inches long and an overall length less than 26 inches.

Short Barreled Rifle

help 4 weapon

A rifle with a barrel shorter than 16 inches. This also includes a weapon made from a rifle with a barrel that’s less than 16 inches long and an overall length less than 26 inches.

help 4 weapon

Suppressors or silencers are regulated by the ATF because they can be used by criminals to get away with shooting someone . . . maybe . . . I honestly don’t understand it.

Machine Gun

help 4 weapon

A machine gun is a fully automatic firearm that’s loaded with rifle cartridges and is designed for sustained direct fire. These firearms can be dangerous when in the hands of criminals.

Destructive Devices

help 4 weapon

Examples of destructive devices are bombs, mines, grenades, dynamite, grenade launchers, rocket launchers, missiles, artillery, poison gas weapons, and any weapon (and tactical gear ) with a bore over one half of an inch. This excludes rifles and shotguns used for sporting purposes.

Any Other Weapons

help 4 weapon

Any Other Weapons or AOWs are devices that can discreetly discharge shots through an explosive, any handgun with a smooth-bored barrel that can fire fixed shotgun shells, firearms with shotgun/rifle barrels 12 to 18 inches long “from which only a single discharge can be made from either barrel without manual reloading.”

AOWs are mostly disguised devices such as umbrella guns, cane guns, pens, knives, and cigarette lighters.

Weapon Classifications

help 4 weapon

Class 1 Weapons

Examples of class 1 weapons are rifles with barrels 16 inches or more in length and shotguns with barrels 18 inches or more in length. These include bolt actions, semi-automatic actions, lever-actions, pump-actions, and break or hinge actions.

Class 1 weapons are designated under the Gun Controls Act of 1968 as Title 1 firearms.

Class 2 Weapons

Class 2 weapons include any semi-automatic rifles, handguns, and shotguns. These firearms can only expel one round with every pull of the trigger.

Class 3 Weapons

Class 3 weapons or Title 2 firearms are fully automatic firearms. These weapons have a high burst fire rate because they can fire shots continuously while the trigger is pressed or pulled.

Class 3 weapons include short barreled rifles and shotguns, Any Other Weapons (AOW), and suppressors.

Class 4 Weapons

help 4 weapon

Finally, we arrive at today’s main attraction – the class 4 weapons or destructive devices. Rocket launchers, grenades, dynamite, tanks, are just a few examples. But as awesome as these weapons are, they also (as the name implies) bring destruction.

Classes of Weapons: A Guide to the Different Types

Classes of Weapons:

There are many different classes of weapons in the world, each with their own unique set of requirements for possession and uses.

Some classes of weapons are more heavily regulated than others, while others are completely legal with no restrictions.

Some classes of weapons are more common than others, but all of them can be deadly if used incorrectly.

In this guide, we will explore the different classes of weapons and provide examples of each type.

We will also talk about the requirements for possessing these weapons and how they can be used safely and effectively.

Keep in mind that this is not an exhaustive list, but it will give you a good understanding of the different classes of weapons and what they are used for.

If you are interested in learning more about weapon classes, this is post for you!

So, let’s get started!

What are the classes of weapons?

In the United States, there are three classes of weapons:

  • destructive devices,
  • other dangerous weapons.

Each class has different requirements for gun ownership.

How are weapons classified?

weapons

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) is responsible for classifying weapons.

They use a number of factors to determine which class a weapon falls into, including:

  • The weapon’s intended use
  • Its size and weight
  • Whether it is designed to be concealed or not
  • The amount of damage it can cause
  • Whether it is considered a military weapon or not

What are class 1 weapons ? Ownership Requirements.

Class 1 weapons are firearms.

They include handguns, shotguns, and rifles.

To own a class 1 weapon, you must be a federally licensed firearms dealer, manufacturer, or importer.

weapons class 1

Firearms are the most restricted class of weapons.

To purchase a firearm, you must first pass a background check.

This check includes questions about your criminal history, mental health, and drug use.

You will also need to provide proof of residency in the state in which you wish to purchase the weapon.

You must also be at least 21 years old to purchase a handgun, and 18 years old to purchase a long gun.

It should be noted that Class 1 Weapons don’t exceed semi-automatic weapons (one pull of the trigger fires one projectile)

Which weapons are class 2? Ownership Requirements

weapons are class 2

Class II weapons are destructive devices.

This class includes bombs, grenades, rockets, missiles and any other device designed to explode or release harmful substances.

To own a class II weapon, you must be a federally licensed firearms dealer, manufacturer, or importer.

You must also register the weapon with the ATF and pay a tax.

Destructive devices are heavily regulated and there is a limited market for them.

As such, they are not commonly owned by private citizens.

You must also pass a background check and provide proof of residency in the state in which you wish to purchase the weapon.

You will also be required to fill out paperwork detailing the purpose for which you intend to use the explosives.

There is no minimum age requirement to purchase a class II weapon.

However, you must be 21 years old to purchase explosives such as dynamite or blasting caps.

You must also have a license to transport these types of explosives.

Examples of class 2 weapons

Grenades

A few examples of class II weapons are:

  • Grenades: Devices that are designed to explode and cause damage to people or property.
  • Molotov cocktails: Glass bottles filled with flammable liquid and a cloth wick.

They are typically used as improvised explosive devices.

Molotov cocktails

  • Rockets: Devices that are propelled through the air by a rocket engine.

They can be either armed with explosives or designed to carry payloads such as satellites.

  • Missiles: Devices that are guided through the air by a system of fins or wings.

They can be armed with explosives or designed to carry payloads such as nuclear weapons.

Cluster bombs

  • Mines: Devices that are designed to explode when someone steps on them or they come into contact with a vehicle.

Anti-tank mines are one type of mine that is designed to destroy vehicles.

  • Cluster bombs: Devices that release multiple smaller explosives, or bomblets, over a wide area.

They are typically used against ground targets such as troops or vehicles.

Which weapons belong to class 3? Ownership Requirements

weapons class 3

Other dangerous weapons include knives, brass knuckles, truncheons, and any other weapon that is not classified as a firearm or destructive weapon.

There are no federal regulations for these weapons, but some states have laws governing their acquisition and possession.

There are no age restrictions on purchasing knives, and you do not have to undergo a background check.

However, there are some restrictions on what types of knives you can carry in certain states.

For example, it is illegal to carry a switchblade knife in California.

Examples of class 3 weapons

Brass knuckles

A few examples of class III weapons are:

  • Knives: A sharpened piece of metal that is used as a cutting tool.
  • Brass knuckles: A metal device that is worn over the knuckles to increase the damage inflicted by a punch.
  • Truncheons: A club or baton that is used as a weapon.
  • Nunchaku: Two sticks connected by a chain or rope, often used in martial arts.
  • Sai: A three-pronged sword, often used in martial arts.
  • Tonfa: A wooden stick with a handle, often used in martial arts.
  • Kama: A sickle-like weapon, often used in martial arts.

What weapons are class 4 weapons? Ownership Requirements

rocket launchers

The last and highest class of Weapons, sometimes referred to as Class 4, covers what the NFA (National Firearms Act) calls, Destructive Devices or DD’s.

Destructive Devices are bombs, grenades, dynamite, rocket launchers.

Class 4 Weapons or DD’s cover anything that explodes, or launches an exploding device.

Class IV weapons are illegal to own, manufacture, sell, trade, import, export, or own parts for, by any American citizen other than properly licensed LEO’s, Military, and government officials.

Examples of class 4 weapons

rocket launchers

A few examples of class IV weapons are:

rocket launchers

  • Bombs: An explosive device that is designed to cause damage to people or property.
  • Grenades: A small explosive device that is thrown by hand or launched from a grenade launcher.
  • Dynamite: A high-explosive that is used in demolition and mining.
  • Rocket Launchers: A device that launches a rocket-propelled projectile.
  • Mortars: A weapon that fires projectiles at a high angle, typically used in indirect fire support.
  • Howitzers: A cannon that is capable of firing shells at a high angle, typically used in indirect fire support.

What are class 5 weapons? Ownership Requirements

Nuclear weapons

Class five would be considered experimental weapons, or weapons of mass destruction, which are illegal for civilians to own.

What classes of weapons are regulated by the National Firearms Act?

The National Firearms Act (NFA) regulates the sale and transfer of certain classes of weapons.

These include machine guns, silencers, short-barreled rifles, and shotguns.

The NFA was enacted in 1934 in response to the rise of gang violence in the United States.

The NFA imposes a tax on the manufacture and sale of these weapons, and requires that they be registered with the federal government.

The NFA also prohibits the transfer of these weapons to certain classes of people, such as felons and minors.

In order to purchase a weapon regulated by the NFA, you must submit an application to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).

You will also be required to pay a tax on the weapon. The ATF will conduct a background check on you before approving your application.

There is no minimum age requirement to purchase a weapon regulated by the NFA. However, you must be 21 years old to purchase a machine gun.

You will also be required to fill out paperwork detailing the purpose for which you intend to use the weapon.

The three main groups into which classes of firearms are divided:

weapons

Unrestricted

Unrestricted weapons are those that any person can buy and use without a license or permit.

Restricted weapons are those that require a license or permit to purchase or use.

Prohibited weapons are those that no one is allowed to own or use.

In Canada, prohibited weapons include automatic firearms, sawed-off shotguns and rifles, handguns with a barrel length shorter than 105 mm, certain types of ammunition.

weapons

So, that’s a brief overview of the classes of weapons and some of the requirements for possessing them.

Remember, if you’re ever unsure about whether or not you’re allowed to carry a particular type of weapon, it’s always best to err on the side of caution and check with your local law enforcement agency.

Now that you know the classes of weapons, you can start your search for the perfect one for you!

Just remember to follow all the laws and regulations regarding gun ownership in your state. Stay safe!

Nuclear Talks With China Are Essential and Long Overdue

A photo illustration of a telephone with a nuclear missile as the receiver. The flag of China is at the center of the phone's rotary dial.

After months of troubled relations, and then some tentative steps to bridge the gap between the United States and China, there is one glaring omission: American and Chinese military leaders still don’t communicate with one another directly. That’s important because those lines of communication are the best way to avoid the kind of misunderstandings or overreactions that can lead to actual conflict. That’s why it’s encouraging that the countries plan to meet on Monday to discuss arms control.

The talks come at a perilous moment for the systems of global controls, painstakingly built over decades, to avoid nuclear conflict. The landmark Cold War-era treaties between the United States and Russia have fallen by the wayside, one by one, with few meaningful restraints remaining and even less good will to negotiate successor agreements. The last major agreement, New START, expires in February 2026 .

This week , the Russian government said it was formally withdrawing from the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty, though it said it would continue to abide by the terms of that agreement. The United States, for its part, is in the midst of upgrading its own nuclear weapons.

As the United States and Russia lose their safeguards, the Chinese government is expanding its nuclear arsenal. For decades, the People’s Liberation Army has felt secure with a few hundred nuclear weapons. But over the past few years, the government began a building spree that, if it continues, would leave China with an arsenal of 1,500 nuclear weapons by 2035, according to an estimate released last month by the Pentagon. Currently, the United States and Russia have about 1,670 deployed weapons each, with thousands more in storage.

Arms races tend to acquire a self-sustaining momentum. The danger of the Chinese expansion is that the United States and Russia may each feel that they then need to expand their own arsenals to match the combined total of the other two powers. That’s a formula for the construction and maintenance of arsenals without end.

Such competition would be alarming even if the relations between these three superpowers were otherwise harmonious. Throw in unpredictable points of tension around trade, the military buildup in the South China Sea, the future of Taiwan, the war in Ukraine, espionage in cyberspace and a dozen other fault lines, and the nuclear buildup risks triggering a global crisis with little margin for error and few offramps.

The world has faced such peril before. Some of the most alarming moments of the Cold War came as a result of misunderstandings. That was the rationale for establishing a hotline between Washington and Moscow in the wake of the Cuban missile crisis, to give leaders immediate access to each other, day or night. One such line of communication exists between the United States and China but is not in use, despite years of quiet pressure on Beijing to answer calls.

China’s apparent willingness to now consider an arrangement to open lines of military-to-military communication is welcome news. In addition to a hotline, the United States and China should also agree to provide each other with basic information about test missile launches, as America and Russia have done for years. This kind of visibility and sharing of information is critical for all nations to distinguish between routine tests and potential first strikes, to avoid catastrophe by accident. A terrifying secret of the Cold War was that nuclear war was avoided, on several occasions, by chance.

That helps explain why the Biden administration has placed a high priority on restarting international cooperation on arms control, even as the world seems more chaotic than ever. “We’re under no illusions that reaching risk reduction and arms control measures will be easy,” Jake Sullivan, the national security adviser, said in a speech this summer . “But we do believe it is possible.”

Mr. Sullivan also launched a pre-emptive strike against hawks in the United States, noting in that speech that the current arsenal of nuclear weapons is sufficient to deter both Russia and China, even if the number of their weapons grows. In the cold logic of nuclear game theory, having enough nuclear weapons to launch a devastating counter strike is sufficient to deter a first strike.

That’s important to keep in mind when politicians begin to fearmonger about a new missile gap as a justification for more weapons. Americans are rightly worried about the possibility that today’s existing conflicts will turn into even worse regional or global conflagrations. Ukraine is defending itself against Russia, a country that has not ruled out the use of nuclear weapons. Israel’s war against Hamas risks drawing in Iran, a rogue state that is close to recognizing its nuclear ambitions. And North Korea continues to improve its rogue nuclear weapons program , now possibly capable of striking the United States. Yes, these are all destabilizing. But against that backdrop, adding more nuclear weapons to the mix only raises the stakes even further, and will not make the United States safer.

It is also in the best interests of both the Americans and Chinese to begin talks on how to integrate artificial intelligence into national defense. The Biden administration took an early step in understanding the challenges the new technology will pose in an executive order issued this week . At the bare minimum, nations should require that humans do — and always will — make the ultimate call to launch nuclear weapons. “The prospects that the unconstrained advance of A.I. will create catastrophic consequences for the United States and the world are so compelling that leaders in governments must act now,” as Henry Kissinger and Graham Allison wrote last month in Foreign Affairs.

Expectations for the low-level talks are modest. But any dialogue between nuclear armed powers is welcome and, if history is a guide, progress often begets progress when managing the world’s most destructive weapons. It is far easier to head off an arms race before it starts than to do so after it has spun out of control.

Chosen weapon expertise does not level up

Yes i chose the weapon and clicked it… it was working a while ago it just isnt leveling any of the weapons i choose anymore…

Thank goodness, i noticed mine stopped gaining experience about 3 days ago, been trying everything to get them to go up, but nothing works. Really sucks too considering the amount of enemies ive killed while not gaining experience.

To the rescue - barbarian skills auto pick the weapons he’s gonna use for skills (when that choice is available, some skills can only use the 2h bludgeon for example) and the way it picks that weapon is based on max damage output. So if you are trying to level up a 2h axe passive, but the 2h bludgeoning weapon is stronger and you didn’t MANUALLY select the 2h axe for said skill, the 2h axe expertise will not go up, as it’s not actively being used.

Open your skill tab and look for the command that bring you to slotting skills (L3 trigger on ps5) and then go to the skills you are using and scroll them down to see what weapon they are auto using. pressing square (on ps5 still) will move them along the different choices for that skill and you will be able to pick what you want manually.

Sorry i dont think you understand how the weapon expertise actually works thanks though… even though you dont actually use said weapon the chosen expertise should level up the unused weapon

LOL ? I know YOU don’t get how the weapon expertise. Expertise comes from using the weapon, not wearing it, using 2 skills + basic skill with only the dual wield option selected will level your 2 1-handed weapon every few minutes and is very noticable. The only thing I could possibly be overlooking is that a weapon you are wearing but not using is gaining a minimal % of the exp gained still, but beyond level 4-5, this gain is so small it wouldn’t even be remotely close to sufficient to rely upon, that I know for a fact. But i’m preeeetty sure this isn’t the case. You posted in here because of a situation you have an issue with, i’m providing you a detailed explanation and answer to how to fix this but I don’t understand how it works ? You have some nerves.

I’m a 69 barbarian, with every expertise maxed besides 2h axes and havent played any other class since launch, i know almost exactly how it works.

Try my method or wait for a dev to answer this (pro tip, it WON’T happen) but once you realise I’m exactly on the money, you don’t have to thank me. I don’t expect it from you anyways.

Here, don’t listen to me, use this official source instead - from diablo tavern barbarian expertise system page : At level 5, barbarian gain access to Weapon Expertise, which can be viewed in the Expertise tab. Every weapon type has a Technique , which goes into effect whenever the Barbarian ----------)))))uses(((((---------- that specific weapon. Every Technique starts at Rank 0, and can be raised up to Rank 10 simply by using the weapon in battle . At Rank 10, these Techniques will gain an additional bonus. It’s important to keep in mind that the weapon you wish to rank up needs to be used in combat — simply equipping it will not raise its Technique.

Sorry i think you are right i thought i read that the weapon would still level up while the expertise was selected thank you

SUPER helpful! Thank you SO much for this… didn’t realize this was a thing.

Super super helpful and exactly correct. My 2h sword technique was stuck at ZERO through level 15, when I wanted to slot it. I went into the skill assignment menu, scrolled down to weapon select for the attack skills, and cycled it to the 2H sword. Was leveled up in 5 minutes. THANK YOU!

You sir are a superstar, I would never have worked that out, I was stuck at lvl6 for 2 handed sword now I can carry on levelling

Thanks again

Man in Hamburg airport hostage drama used a rental car and had no weapons permit

BERLIN (AP) — A man who drove onto the tarmac at Hamburg Airport with his 4-year-old daughter, starting an 18-hour standoff with police that ended with his arrest, was using a rental car and lacked a weapons permit, authorities said Monday.

Operations at the airport returned to normal on Monday after the lengthy closure caused by the hostage situation , and the airport operator signaled that it would strengthen security.

The 35-year-old Turkish citizen broke through an airport gate on Saturday evening, fired into the air and threw two incendiary devices out of the car, according to witnesses, before parking the vehicle under a plane just outside a terminal building.

He had reportedly taken his daughter from her mother in Stade, some 52 kilometers (32 miles) from Hamburg, in an ongoing custody battle.

(Hart Van Denburg/Colorado Public Radio via AP)

Stade police spokesperson Rainer Bohmbach said that the vehicle used at the airport was a rental car, German news agency dpa reported. He said it wasn’t known whether he worked for a car rental company, but that was unlikely.

The suspect has no weapons permit, said Liddy Oechtering, a spokesperson for Hamburg prosecutors. She said they would seek to have him kept in custody on suspicion of hostage-taking, removal of a minor and offenses under weapons laws.

The man was fined 3,600 euros ($3,860) early this year for removal of a minor over a previous incident, Stade prosecutor Kai Thomas Breas said.

He had taken his daughter to Turkey in March 2022. In July last year, a German court withdrew parental custody from him and gave his ex-wife sole custody. She filed a complaint in September 2022, Breas said, and later that month brought their daughter back from Turkey.

The airport operator said that it will “implement further construction measures to strengthen possible entry points to the security area,” dpa reported. It didn’t give details.

“German airports are fundamentally very safe,” Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s spokesperson, Steffen Hebestreit, told reporters in Berlin. But “what we have now seen in Hamburg shows that time and again there are gaps in the concept, and that someone with high criminal energy who apparently is also very desperate can manage to use such gaps.”

“It is also clear that no concept is so good that it can’t be made even better,” he said.

Hamas Has Deadlier Weapons Than the Last Time Israel Invaded Gaza

Posted: November 4, 2023 | Last updated: November 4, 2023

The last time Israel invaded the Gaza Strip nearly a decade ago, its troops pummeled an overmatched Hamas fighting force. They destroyed tunnel systems and sealed off smuggling routes, costing the Islamist group two-thirds of its missiles by the time they withdrew.

Now, as Israel steps up a new invasion, it faces a more-potent enemy that has rebuilt its arsenal with help from Iran. Since the operation started on Oct. 27, Hamas has attacked the Israeli army with explosive-laden drones, anti-tank missiles and high-impact rockets—the sorts of weapons that have transformed the battlefield in Ukraine.

With 26 fatalities in a week of operation, Israelis are dying at more than twice the rate as in 2014, when 67 lost their lives during a seven-week campaign.

At the heart of Hamas’ ability to respond to the invasion is the group’s longstanding relationship with Iran, which has continued to support the Palestinian militants with money and technical expertise. In the months leading up to the Oct. 7 attack, hundreds of Hamas fighters went to Iran for military training, The Wall Street Journal has reported.

Avi Melamed, a former Israeli intelligence official, said that while he expects Israel to ultimately triumph, the sophisticated arsenal meant Israel would have to brace for a long-haul struggle. “Hamas is a military power that is significant thanks to Iran,” said Melamed. “They are armed to the teeth.”

The Islamist group has used the expertise to develop local skills in arms manufacturing, cobbling together weapons from materials available in the Gaza Strip, despite an Israeli and Egyptian blockade of the territory, weapons it is now using to fight the Israeli army.

Some analysts say that even if Israel manages to deplete Hamas’ military capabilities, the destruction wrought to achieve that goal may prompt a lengthy insurgency once the campaign is over.

The U.S. fought several wars against militant groups, including al-Qaeda and the Taliban, only to face lengthy and stubborn insurgencies. Eradicating Hamas will perhaps be even harder, analysts say.

“Hamas has very, very deep roots, and that’s different from al Qaeda, which was smaller,” said Dan Byman, senior fellow and expert in counterterrorism with the Center for Strategic and International Studies think tank.

Even if a defeat for Hamas deters Palestinians from joining the group, the Israeli offensive will fuel anger among Palestinians, who might join other armed groups. Israel hasn’t offered any indication of what comes after the military operation. It likely won’t maintain a permanent ground troop presence in the strip, and there are no settler communities that appear willing to live there. Crucially, Byman said, even the U.S. had tangible support in the populations where it fought insurgencies.

“The U.S. had advantages, a lot of Iraqis and Afghans who wanted to work with them,” he said. “There are no Palestinians eager to work with Israelis in Gaza.”

Marwan Abdel-Al, a senior official in the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, a Syria-based secular armed group with operations in Lebanon, Gaza and the West Bank, said in an interview in Lebanon that Hamas and its allies are better equipped to respond to an Israeli ground invasion than in the past.

“Today, it’s totally different from 2014,” he said, pointing to drones, as well as the type of advanced guerrilla methods developed by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and the Russian Wagner mercenary group.

The Front said it participated in the Oct. 7 attacks and that it continues to lob missiles into Israel from Gaza.

Abdel-Al warned Israel will get bogged down, like Germany did in Russia during World War II or the U.S. in Vietnam. “The guys there, on the ground,” he said, “they are ready.”

Hamas has been manufacturing rockets for more than two decades. The first generation of Qassam rockets, cheap sugar-fueled rockets that Hamas began producing during the Palestinian uprising known as the Second Intifada, around 2001, had a range of 2 to 3 miles. The third generation, Qassam 3, had a range of about 10. Now, Hamas has shown missiles with a range of up to 150 miles, covering basically all of Israel.

In the past, Iran produced rockets in Sudan and smuggled them into Gaza via tunnels from Sinai with the help of Egyptian Bedouins. That has largely been stopped now, since Egypt flooded the tunnels and Sudan initiated a rapprochement with Israel and distanced itself from Iran. Instead, Hamas and Islamic Jihad have moved to indigenous production and are manufacturing both explosives and the weapon from raw materials, according to analysts.

To manufacture rockets, Hamas has used steel piping for metal in motors and warhead casings. It has used unexploded Israeli artillery heads for explosives. Other elements, like the fusion system and fins are easy to build and weld together, and fuel for the rocket’s propellant can be smuggled in.

Hamas’ most-potent defense may be its extensive tunnel network that runs beneath Gaza like an underground city, storing fighters, fuel, weapons and, since Oct. 7., hostages.

“The tunnels really change everything,” said Daphné Richemond-Barak, professor at Reichman University in Herzliya, Israel, and author of a book on underground warfare. “The tunnels neutralize any military advantage.”

Hamas’ tunnels have been extended and reinforced since the 2014 war, likely with counsel from Iran, which keeps some of its own military facilities underground, Richemond-Barak said, adding that Hamas has also been inspired by Islamic State’s use of similar tunnels.

“This is probably the most sophisticated network of tunnels seen in any type of war,” she said.

The tunnels also run to the sea, which can be used for smuggling, to launch unmanned underwater vehicles and as conduits for Hamas frogmen, according to Lenny Ben-David, an expert in Hamas weaponry with the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs, a think tank.

The central role of the tunnels partly explains the scale of the Israeli bombardments. Israel says Hamas stores weapons and command centers under civilian buildings, including hospitals. Israel has also deployed a special-forces unit specialized in searching and destroying tunnels, called Yahalom.

To get to Hamas’ weapons, the Israeli military must “peel off the top layer of Gaza,” Ben-David said.

Israel says it has hit more than 11,000 targets in Gaza, population two million, using missiles, bombs and artillery.

The campaign has taken a tremendous toll on Palestinians in the Strip, killing more than 9,200, the majority women and children, according to health authorities in Hamas-controlled Gaza. The toll, which couldn’t be independently verified, doesn’t distinguish between militants and civilians. An estimated 1.5 million people have been displaced, many of them fleeing south or taking shelter in schools, hospitals and international aid facilities.

Earlier this week, repeated Israeli airstrikes targeted Jabalia, a refugee camp that has become a warren of permanent homes. Gaza hospital officials said hundreds of people were killed and injured in the strike. The Israeli military said it had struck an underground bunker killing dozens of militants, including a senior Hamas commander who played a key role in the Oct. 7 massacre.

Privately, Hamas has expressed confidence it can sustain a long-term campaign before it runs out of arms, according to officials in the region. A few days after the Oct. 7 attack, Hamas told Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian the militants “can continue for months on their own,” Lebanese Foreign Minister Abdallah Bou Habib said in an interview.

Back in 2014,  Hamas mostly relied on Soviet-era projectiles with no guidance system that dated as far back as 1969, according to a United Nations report published the following year.  Drones were a rarity in Hamas’ hands and were generally crude models with limited strike capabilities.

In this war, Hamas has published videos of targeting Israeli troops with munitions dropped from drones, a Ukraine-style battlefield innovation, and damaged two tanks and several military vehicles.

Israeli forces have also faced attackers equipped with North Korea-made F-7 High-Explosive Fragmentation rockets; Kornet man-portable anti-tank guided missile, a model developed in Russia but often copied by Iran; and locally-produced “Al-Yassin” Tandem anti-tank rockets.

A new addition to the battlefield has been paragliders, which Hamas used to penetrate Israel on Oct. 7 as a form of airborne infantry. To avoid detection in Gaza, Hamas fighters received training in paragliding in Iran, according to people familiar with the matter.

This week, Hamas published a video displaying a guided underwater vehicle called Al-Asef described by Hamas as a “torpedo,” which appears similar to an underwater drone that Israel in 2021 said the militant group had tried to fire at one of its vessels.

Hamas has acquired these weapons despite attempts by Israel and Egypt in the aftermath of the 2014 war to reduce the flow of weapons going through tunnels connected to Gaza with the Sinai. Over time, some of those routes were rebuilt and smuggling resumed, according to Middle-East security officials.

More importantly, Israel failed to seal off access by sea to Gaza’s 25 miles of coastline. Smuggling by sea, especially via fishing boats used by local Gazans, has been much more difficult to monitor for the Israeli military.

The sea route may explain the presence of specialty assault rifles that turned up on the bodies of dead militants on Oct. 7. The AK-103-2 were initially manufactured by a Russian government factory and exclusively bought by Libyan strongman Moammar Gadhafi following the lifting of an arms embargo in 2003, said Adam Rousselle, a researcher at the Militant Wire, a network of experts that examines weapons used by non-state actors.

A team of Hamas operatives exported large amounts of weapons sent from Libya to Gaza possibly as recently as 2017, according to a Libyan prosecutor’s file reviewed by the Journal. The group received the assistance of the two former leaders of the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group, an al-Qaeda affiliate, said a Libyan security official.

During its rampage at Kibbutz Holit, a rural settlement 1.2 miles from the Gaza Strip, Hamas used Iranian made man-portable surface-to-air missiles, according to Calibre Obscura, an open source analyst that specializes in identifying weapons used by non-state actors. The armed branch of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad posted a video of an attack on the settlement with anti-tank guided missiles. Both weapons were produced by subsidiaries of the Iranian ministry of defense in the 1990s.

Hamas has also developed a robust domestic weapons-manufacturing capability that partly relies on Iranian technology transfers.

It has built a drone called Ababil, developed after Iranian design. Hamas also has a domestically produced drone called the Zouari, named after a Tunisian engineer, Mohammed al-Zawari, who helped develop the weapons and was assassinated in Tunisia in 2016, a killing Hamas blamed on Israeli intelligence.

“We have to destroy these places and not allow them to be built again,” said Yaakov Amidror, a former Israeli national security adviser and now senior fellow at the conservative Jerusalem Institute for Strategic Studies think tank, referring to Hamas’ military infrastructure. “That’s why the IDF after the war will maintain freedom of action in Gaza, whether with airstrikes or troops on the ground.”

Halo 4 Weapons List Detailed

Posted by GAMERANX STAFF on June 5th, 2012:

Halo 4 Weapons Guide: Here’s a list of all the Halo 4 weapons and armaments you’ll have to play with in the game’s single and multiplayer modes. Halo 4 is one of the biggest games to come out this year. It offers both a singleplayer campaign that’s almost certain to satisfy fans of the lore, and two major multiplayer modes—co-op and competitive.

The singleplayer campaign is getting a huge overhaul over its predecessors, taking place in an all new environment and offering players numerous new challenges to overcome, mysteries to uncover, and most importantly—foes to kill.

Likewise, the game allows players to participate in a cooperative multiplayer campaign called Spartan Ops, which is set to be doled out to players on a weekly basis in the months after the release of Halo 4.

Not to be neglected, competitive gaming is also making a huge return with Halo 4’s new War Games setting, which contains numerous competitive modes and suitable environments in which players can hone their skills.

One of the biggest, and most important details about each of these modes—and the one thing they have most in common—are the armaments and guns you’ll be able to equip yourself with as you frag your enemies. For that reason, we’ve put together this list of all the Halo 4 weapons and armaments you’ll have to play with.

This list will be updated with more gear as the information becomes available.

halo 4 assault rifle

Halo 4: Assault Rifle

DESIGNATION: MA5D Individual Combat Weapon System

MANUFACTURER: Misriah Armory

The MA5D ICWS is an exceptionally resilient gas-operated, magazine-fed, automatic rifle designed to execute close-quarters combat with lethal efficiency, regardless of hostile counter-op environmental conditions or duration of use in the field.

halo 4 battle rifle

Halo 4: Battle Rifle

DESIGNATION: BR85 Heavy-Barrel Service Rifle

The BR85HB Service Rifle is a gas-operated, magazine-fed, semi-automatic rifle optimized for three-round burst firing, and proven to be an extraordinarily versatile weapon at a wide variety of ranges in the hands of a capable marksman.

halo 4 sticky detonator

Halo 4: Stick Detonator

DESIGNATION: M363 Remote Projectile Detonator

MANUFACTURER: Acheron Security

The M363 RPD is a low-profile single-shot weapon that launches a magnetically latched explosive, which the operator can remotely detonate when at a safe distance. Although previously manufactured in low quantities, this weapon’s size and ease-of-transportability has made it ubiquitous in the years which followed the Covenant War.

Halo 4: DMR

DESIGNATION: Designated Marksman Rifle

The M395 DMR is a gas-operated magazine-fed marksman rifle that maintains a smart-linked, telescopic, rail-mounted sight for scout personnel. This rifle favors mid-range to long-range combat, offering impressive stopping power.

halo 4 magnum

Halo 4: Magnum

DESIGNATION: M6H Personal Defense Weapon System

The M6H Magnum is a semi-automatic, recoil-operated, magazine-fed handgun and the standard personal sidearm of all branches of the UNSC post-2555. This weapon is surprisingly effective at reasonably long distances, proving its universal value in the field.

halo 4 rocket launcher

Halo 4: Rocket Launcher

DESIGNATION: M41 SSR Medium Anti-Vehicle/Assault Weapon

The M41 SSR MAV/AW is a portable, twin-tube, shoulder-fired rocket launcher, capable of firing two 102mm rockets with incredibly destructive potency. It is easily one of the most pervasive explosive weapons within the UNSC’s arsenal, largely due to its transportability and firepower.

halo 4 sniper rifle

Halo 4: Sniper Rifle

DESIGNATION: Sniper Rifle System 99-Series 5 Anti-Materiel

The SRS99-S5 AM is a gas-operated, magazine-fed, semi-automatic sniper rifle with exceptional accuracy and the ability to simultaneously breach both energy-shielding and high-density armor, making immediate kills nearly effortless when this weapon is properly utilized.

halo 4 spartan laser

Halo 4: Spartan Laser

DESIGNATION: Weapon/Anti-Vehicle M6 Grindell/Galileian Nonlinear Rifle

The M6 G/GNR is a semi-automatic, shoulder-fired, smart-linked nonlinear rifle that projects a superheated beam of energy which is undeniably effective at destroying both enemy personnel and vehicles. Design for this weapon occurred in parallel with the GUNGNIR-class of Mjolnir GEN1 armor, resulting in the informal name ‘Spartan Laser.’

halo 4 plasma pistol

Halo 4: Plasma Pistol

DESIGNATION: T-25 Directed Energy Pistol

MANUFACTURER: Iruiru Armory

The T-25 Plasma Pistol is the standard sidearm for most Covenant infantry. Typically used as a semi-automatic, directed energy pistol, this weapon’s scaled burst functionality allows it to fire an overcharged collection of plasma, temporarily incapacitating the power systems on both armor and vehicles.

halo 4 storm rifle

Halo 4: Storm Rifle

DESIGNATION: T-55 Directed Energy Rifle/Advanced

MANUFACTURER: Lodam Armory

The T-55 Storm Rifle is the evolution of the standard Plasma Rifle and served various infantry during the violent Sangheili civil conflicts that followed the Covenant War. The weapon now includes a modular coil set, a high-mounted cooling shroud, and an extended barrel, all contributing to greater overall performance in the field than its predecessor.

halo 4 needler

Halo 4 Needler

DESIGNATION: T-33 Guided Munitions Launcher

The T-33 Needler is a compact, fully automatic guided munitions launcher that breaks off shards of chemically-charged crystalline. The shards home-in on sighted targets with specific heat signatures, impaling the targets just prior to simultaneously and violently detonating.

halo 4 energy sword

Halo 4 Energy Sword

DESIGNATION: T-1 Energy Weapon/Sword

MANUFACTURER: Merchants of Qikost

The T-1 Energy Sword, exclusively wielded by Sangheili, is a close-engagement weapon intended to express its owner’s personal skill, clerical honor, and combat viability. The blade is composed of superheated plasma and folded against magnetic lines extending from its hilt, effectively creating a razor-sharp martial weapon with lethal functionality.

halo 4 covenant carbine

Halo 4 Covenant Carbine

DESIGNATION: T-51 Carbine

The T-51 Carbine is a recoil-operated, semi-automatic, charger-fed marksman rifle capable of firing ballistic rounds at significant range. It is somewhat unique among Covenant weapons in that it is not dependent on superheated plasma or other energy-based material, but rather fires radioactively charged ballistic projectiles.

halo 4 scattershot

Halo 4 Scattershot

DESIGNATION: Z-180 Close Combat Rifle/Asymmetric Engagement Mitigator

MANUFACTURER: Unknown

The Z-180 Scattershot is a prominent Forerunner channel weapon that was used for close-range defense toward the end of their war with the Flood. While practically unstoppable up close, the most remarkable attribute of the Scattershot is its schismatic dispersal effect, drowning confined hard-surfaced interiors with brutal, ricocheting beams of energy.
