What's Your Question?
15 Tips to Help You Write a Stellar Essay
Essay-writing can be easier than you might think if you have a grasp of the basics and a willingness to engage with the subject matter. Here are 15 top tips for writing a stellar essay.
Do Your Research
This is one of the most important tips you’ll ever receive. Research thoroughly, even if it means you have too many notes. It’s better to have to leave stuff out than not have enough to write about.
Make an Outline
Without a properly structured outline (with an intro, a four- to five-point body and a conclusion), your essay may be hard to write and to follow.
While you might just be writing your essay for a teacher or professor that is paid to read it, it still pays to grab their attention. A “hook” like a quote or surprising statistic in your intro can make your reader want to read on.
Lay Out Your Thesis
The intro isn’t all about flair and grabbing attention. It’s also about laying out your thesis. Make your main argument clear in the first few sentences, setting up a question to answer or statement to prove.
Avoid Passive Voice
If you want your writing to be persuasive, passive voice should be avoided. (That sentence was full of it, by the way. For example, “You should avoid passive voice” is a more convincing way to say “passive voice should be avoided.”)
Avoid First-Person Voice
If you’re writing an academic essay, you should almost certainly avoid first-person voice. In other words, avoid saying “I” or “my.” Also restrict your use of the second-person voice (e.g., don’t use “you” unless it’s necessary).
Start With Your Strongest Point
In general, it’s a good idea to start with your strongest argument in your first body paragraph. This sets the scene nicely. However, this might not be appropriate if you are structuring your essay points chronologically.
Relate All Points Back to Your Thesis
Make it clear to your reader how each point you make relates back to your thesis (i.e., the question or statement in your introduction, and probably your title too). This helps them to follow your argument.
Contextualize Without Losing Focus
Add contextualizing information for a richer presentation of your topic. For example, it’s fine (or even desirable) to discuss the historical background for certain events. Just don’t get bogged down by irrelevant details.
Use Transition Phrases
Transition phrases, such as “furthermore,” “by contrast” and “on the other hand,” can also help your reader to follow your argument. But don’t overuse them at the cost of clarity. Read your essay aloud to gauge how it flows.
Conclude With a Return to Your Thesis
A conclusion can do many things, but it’s useful to think of it as an answer to the question or statement in your intro. It’s sensible to summarize your key points, but always relate back to your thesis.
Make Your Conclusion Seem Obvious
Restating your thesis in your conclusion (after having made all of your points and arguments in the body) can be persuasive. Aim to make your conclusion feel irrefutable (at least if it’s a persuasive essay).
If your spelling is sloppy, it’s natural for your reader to assume your approach to writing the essay was too. This could harm the strength of an otherwise persuasive essay.
Grammar is also important, for the same reason. It’s usually easy to pick up on dodgy grammar if you read your essay aloud. If you’re not a native English speaker, however, you might want to ask someone who is to check your essay.
To avoid harming your persuasiveness and authority, it’s fundamentally important to use the right words. Overly obscure language can detract from the clarity of your argument, but if you feel you have to use it, then you better know what it means.

The environment offers numerous benefits. It provides us with air to breathe, water to drink, food to eat, and materials for shelter. It also offers breathtaking natural beauty.
On the other hand, the environment can also bring harm. Natural disasters like hurricanes, earthquakes, and floods can cause destruction. Pollution can also harm our health and the planet.

250 Words Essay on Advantages and Disadvantages of Environment
The environment, our planet’s life-support system, plays a pivotal role in our survival and well-being. Its complexity and interdependence make it both a source of numerous benefits and a target of various threats.
Advantages of the Environment
The environment provides essential services, including clean air, water, food, and raw materials. It is the cradle of biodiversity, hosting millions of species that contribute to the balance of ecosystems. The environment also offers recreational and spiritual benefits, enhancing our mental health and overall quality of life. Moreover, it plays a crucial role in climate regulation and disaster mitigation.
Disadvantages of the Environment
Despite its advantages, the environment also presents challenges. Natural disasters, such as earthquakes, hurricanes, and floods, can cause widespread destruction. The environment can also host disease vectors, contributing to the spread of illnesses like malaria and Lyme disease. Furthermore, the environment’s vulnerability to human-induced changes, such as pollution, deforestation, and climate change, poses significant threats to human health and socioeconomic stability.
Understanding the environment’s dual role as a provider and a potential threat is critical for sustainable development. Balancing the benefits we derive from the environment against the risks it poses requires informed decisions, responsible behavior, and proactive measures. Ultimately, the environment’s advantages and disadvantages reflect our relationship with it, underscoring the need for harmonious coexistence and stewardship.
500 Words Essay on Advantages and Disadvantages of Environment
The environment plays a crucial role in the functioning of life on earth. It provides essential resources and services, while also posing challenges to human survival and development. This essay will explore the advantages and disadvantages of the environment, providing a nuanced understanding of its complex role.
The environment offers several advantages that are integral to our existence. Firstly, it provides essential resources such as water, air, soil, minerals, and energy sources vital for human survival. It also offers an array of biodiversity, contributing to the balance of ecosystems and the provision of food, medicine, and raw materials.
The environment also plays a significant role in climate regulation. Forests act as carbon sinks, absorbing CO2 and mitigating the impacts of climate change. Wetlands and oceans regulate temperature and weather patterns, while the ozone layer protects us from harmful solar radiation.
Moreover, the environment contributes to human well-being beyond physical needs. It offers aesthetic beauty and recreational opportunities, enhancing mental health and quality of life. It also holds cultural and spiritual significance for many societies.
Despite its numerous benefits, the environment also poses challenges. Natural hazards such as earthquakes, floods, hurricanes, and volcanic eruptions can cause widespread destruction, loss of life, and economic damage. These events are part of the earth’s dynamic processes and are beyond human control.
Secondly, the environment can harbor harmful organisms and diseases. Pathogens can spread through air, water, or soil, causing illnesses like malaria, cholera, and Lyme disease. Some environmental features, such as stagnant water or dense vegetation, can create ideal conditions for these pathogens to thrive.
Thirdly, the environment can also limit human development. Harsh climates, rugged terrains, or resource scarcity can hinder agricultural productivity, infrastructure development, and economic growth. These challenges often disproportionately affect developing countries and vulnerable populations.
In conclusion, the environment plays a dual role, offering both advantages and disadvantages. It provides essential resources and services, contributes to climate regulation and human well-being, but also poses challenges through natural hazards, diseases, and developmental limitations. Understanding this complexity is crucial for developing sustainable practices that maximize the benefits and minimize the disadvantages of the environment. This balance is not only key to our survival but also to the well-being of future generations.

Environmental Protection Essay
Essay on Environmental Protection
Environmental protection is improving, defending, and maintaining the quality of the environment. The main methods of environmental protection are recycling, reusing, and reducing; however, some other methods such as Green Energy production, green transportation development, and eco-friendly industrialization also exist. Not only residents but also businesses and industries should play their basic roles to improve the environment.
The History of Environmental Protection
Humankind has always been concerned about the environment. The ancient Greeks were the first to develop environmental philosophy, and they were followed by other major civilizations such as India and China. In more recent times, the concern for the environment has increased because of growing awareness of the ecological crisis. The Club of Rome, a think tank, was among the first to warn the world about the dangers of overpopulation and pollution in its report "The Limits to Growth" (1972).
In the early days of environmentalism, people thought that the best way to protect nature was to set aside areas where humans would not disturb the environment. This approach, which is known as preservation, was given a major boost in the United States with the establishment of the National Park Service in 1916.
The modern environmental movement began in the 1960s when concerns about the negative impact of humans on the environment began to increase. In response to these concerns, governments around the world began to pass legislation to protect the environment. In the United States, for example, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) was established in 1970.
The Principles of Environmental Protection
There are three fundamental principles of environmental protection:
The precautionary principle: This principle states that if an activity has the potential to cause harm to the environment, then steps should be taken to prevent that harm even if there is no clear evidence that the activity is damaging.
The polluter pays principle: This states that the party responsible for causing pollution should be held responsible for cleaning it up.
The public right to know the principle: This principle states that the public has a right to know about any potential threats to the environment and what is being done to address them.
The goals of Environmental Protection
There are three main goals of environmental protection:
To protect human health: This is the most important goal of environmental protection because humans cannot survive without a healthy environment.
To protect ecosystems: Ecosystems are the foundation of life on Earth, and they provide many benefits to humans, such as clean air and water, food, and fiber.
To promote sustainable development: Sustainable development is a development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.
