Article 45 of the Directive Principles of State Policy states free and compulsory primary education till the age of 14 years. It also stated that education should be provided for the minorities and the weaker sections of the society. The Indian constitution under the freedom of rights introduced the Right to Education Act in 2009. The RTE act states education to be a fundamental right for every child from the age of 6-14 years. Saakshar Bharat was formulated by the Indian government in 2009. Its aim was to reduce the male female gap pf literacy, encourage women literacy and achieve 80% literacy by 2012. Literacy is an essential parameter to measure the education level in the nation. A literate man should possess the values of education. The Indian government has come a long way in educating the masses by launching various campaigns and implementing it. The literacy level has immensely increased in the last few years. Education: The Early the Better – Essay 1 (250 Words)

Introduction

Education is the most significant requirement for an individual to grow and progress. It is also very important that education must be imparted from an early age to get the maximum advantage out of it.

Education – The Early the Better

Education is very essential for the overall development of a person. It never harms to get educated and whatever, stage of life you are going through, it always helps to educate yourself. Though, it is also true that early education is provided to an individual, the better it is. Therefore, governments throughout the world pay more importance to child education.

Children are the future of a nation and play a vital role in ascertaining their path to success and growth. Children of today are destined to become the pillars of society tomorrow, contributing productively to the growth of the nation.

Realizing the significance of early education in a child’s life, and also in the future growth prospects of a nation, many countries across the globe have mandated primary education for their children.

Moving a step ahead from others, India has made compulsory and free education a Fundamental Right under the Right to Education (RTE) Act 2009. The Act makes primary education mandatory for the children in the age group of 6 to 14 years.

It is very important that quality education is provided to everyone without any discrimination based on gender, caste, financial background or other divisions. A person, who missed the chance to go to a school during childhood, has all the rights to begin afresh and educate him/herself. However, the fact that an early start for education is much better than a later beginning cannot be denied.

Education and Society – Essay 2 (400 Words)

Education refers to a process of learning, acquiring skills and values. Education is essential for the holistic development of a child. Not only children, but quality education also benefits individuals of all age groups. Education is a powerful weapon that could transform an unproductive individual into a productive member of society.

Education and Growth

Education brings holistic growth, on several parameters, to an individual, society as well as the nation. On a personal level, it makes a child ready to take on the challenges of the world by making him/her educated and infusing confidence. An educated child or an adult has a clear chart out plan for growth and courage to tread on that path.

Moreover, an educated person is gainfully employed or is involved in any kind of self-employment, thereby bringing financial growth to his family. The majority of such, educated and well to do families mark the foundation of a progressive society, one that grows constantly with each passing day.

Educated and productive citizens are a valuable asset of any country and contribute immensely to its social and economic growth. A quality and compulsory education help in the growth of a nation by bringing down illiteracy, poverty and by generating overall harmony.

Education and Society

The wellness of society up to a large extent depends on the availability of education opportunities and also it’s quality. A society that gives due importance to education and keeps no stone unturned to make it accessible to its children and adults, without gender-based or other forms of discrimination, is destined to become a healthy, happy and productive society. Such a society is like a jewel in the crown of the nation.

Also, it wouldn’t be wrong to say that the true progress of a nation begins from its societies; on the other hand, the progress of a society depends on the level of its education and its ease of accessibility. Therefore, education is an integral part of a civilized society and the latter can’t progress without giving due credence to the former.

Education is the foremost prerequisite for the growth of a society and also the nation on a whole. Without education, there would only be widespread illiteracy, poverty and a broken, fragile and disturbed society. A nation cannot progress with such a society in the backdrop. Therefore, education is the light that turns a dark and unproductive society into a bright and productive one. The same goes for case of the nation as well.

Education Essay

Education: A Fundamental Right – Essay 3 (500 – 600 Words)

‘Education’ is the process of gaining knowledge on various subjects of human concern. In common perception, education refers to school education. Any child’s mental growth largely depends on the quality of education that he/she gets.

Importance of Education

Education is very important for the development of a child’s mental abilities. Not only education but the whole process of education, that a child goes through is essential for his/her mental, physical and social development.

Schools and colleges are an integral part of education. They offer education to everyone without any discrimination and equal treatment to all. It is only during early school education that a child gains very basic knowledge of essential subjects like – language, math, science, etc. Though small, nevertheless, the course marks the foundation for a child’s future growth.

Education provides a vision of the future and wings to achieve it. It is a lifelong process that develops a person mentally and also makes him/her a more sensible human being.

Education has the potential of elevating a society’s standard of living by helping it to fight poverty, unemployment and general unrest. An educated society often lives peacefully and contributes profitably to the growth of the nation.

Education – A Fundamental Right

Realizing the importance of education in the growth of an individual, society and the nation as well, the Government of India had passed an Act called “Right to Education”. The Act came into effect on 1st April 2010, mandating free and compulsory education to all the children between the age group of six to fourteen years, as a Fundamental Right.

The Act made education both free as well as compulsory. “Free Education” means that no child will be required to pay any fee for continuing education in schools supported by the government. This, however, doesn’t apply to the private schools, where a child is enrolled by his/her parents.

The term ‘compulsory education’ puts an obligation on the state and relevant agencies to ensure that no child in the defined age group is left without education. It aims for tackling the school dropout rate and illiteracy.

Education – A Global Concern

The World Community also recognizes the ‘Right to Education’ as a human right. World powers have come together to make primary and secondary education accessible to all.

The International Law of Right to Education doesn’t specifically apply to only children, but to all individuals of all age groups; though, children could be the main beneficiaries.

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) number 4 deals with education. SDG-4 enlists seven target objectives as given in the bulleted list below-

  • To ensure by 2030, that all the children get a free and quality education (primary and secondary).
  • To ensure pre-primary education by 2030 to every boy and girl.
  • To eliminate any existing gender disparity in high-level university education and also to make it accessible.
  • To increase the number of individuals with vocational skills and entrepreneurship abilities by 2030.
  • Eliminating gender inequality in education at all levels by 2030.
  • By 2030, to ensure that every youth and adult irrespective of men and women, get educated.
  • To skill all the individuals by 2030 to make them able to promote Sustainable Development Goals.

Education is a tool to tackle many fundamental problems like poverty, unemployment, crime rate, gender disparity, etc. An educated person is like a pillar that firmly supports his/her family as well as the society and the nation. Education in India has been made a Fundamental Right and it is undisputedly the most significant of all the Fundamental Rights enshrined in the Constitution.

Women's Education Essay

Essay on women's education -.

Education for women has been a global concern for many decades, with organisations and governments working towards providing equal opportunities and education for all genders. According to UNESCO, there are still significant disparities in education attainment between men and women, particularly in low-income countries.

100 Words Essay On Women's Education

Women's education is critical to empowering women and promoting gender equality. Education helps women break the cycle of poverty and provides them with opportunities for personal and professional growth. It also leads to better health outcomes and reduced population growth rates.

Women who are highly educated are more likely to be active participants in the political and social process and are better equipped to advocate for their rights and those of their families. Educated women are also more likely to prioritise their children's education, perpetuating a positive cycle of education and empowerment. The government has implemented several programs and policies to promote girls’ education, including the Right to Education Act, which ensures that all children between the ages of 6 and 14 have access to free and compulsory education.

200 Words Essay On Women's Education

Education is one of the most fundamental human rights essential for individuals and society's overall development and progress. Women's education is significant in this regard, as it has already been proven to be one of the most effective ways to empower our women and promote gender equality.

Why Women Education Is Necessary

Studies show that educating women leads to improved health, well-being for themselves and their families, and greater economic growth and stability. Women who are educated are more likely to participate in the workforce and have higher-paying jobs, which contributes to the overall prosperity of communities. In addition, educated women are more likely to make informed decisions for themselves and their families, leading to better health outcomes.

Challenges Faced

However, despite the numerous benefits, many girls and women worldwide still face significant educational barriers. Poverty, cultural norms, and lack of access to resources are just some challenges preventing girls from attending school. Governments, civil society organizations, and international bodies must work together to provide equal educational opportunities for all, regardless of gender.

In India, education for women has improved over the years. However, there are still challenges, such as socio-cultural barriers, poverty, and lack of access to education facilities that hinder the education of many girls. However, despite the numerous benefits of women's education, there are still many barriers to its attainment, including poverty, cultural norms, and limited access to educational resources. Despite the efforts, the literacy rate among women in India remains lower than that of men, and there is still much progress.

In conclusion, educating women is a basic human right and crucial for promoting gender equality, reducing poverty, and advancing economic development. We must work towards creating a world where every girl and woman has access to quality education and is empowered to reach their full potential.

500 Words Essay On Women's Education

Women's education is crucial to a society's development and growth. It is widely recognised that educating women can have many positive impacts not just on the women themselves but also on their families, communities, and even entire countries.

The Importance Of Women's Education

The importance of women's education cannot be overstated.

Education empowers women to make informed decisions, increases their employment opportunities, and improves their economic status.

Education also leads to better health outcomes for women and their families.

Women educated are more likely to seek medical care, use contraception, and vaccinate their children, resulting in improved health outcomes for both mothers and children.

Additionally, educated women are more likely to participate in the political process and advocate for their rights, leading to a more equitable and just society.

Challenges To Women Education

Despite the many benefits of women's education, numerous challenges still prevent women from accessing education. These challenges vary from country to country, but some of the most common obstacles include poverty, cultural attitudes, lack of infrastructure, and conflict. In many developing countries, families cannot afford to send their daughters to school, and girls are often forced to work instead of attending school. In addition, cultural attitudes that view women as inferior to men and discourage their education also significantly limit women's access to education.

Another major challenge is the need for more infrastructure in many rural and underdeveloped areas. Schools in these areas are often of poor quality and need more basic facilities like clean water, toilets, and electricity. This makes it difficult for girls to attend school, especially during their menstrual periods.

Initiatives

Several strategies can be implemented to overcome these challenges and ensure that women have access to education.

Firstly, governments and organisations can provide financial assistance to families so that they can afford to send their daughters to school. This can be done through scholarships, school fee subsidies, and other forms of financial support.

Secondly, efforts must be made to change cultural attitudes and challenge gender-based discrimination. This can be done through education campaigns, media, and community engagement.

Real-Life Examples On Women’s Education

These are some examples of organisations working towards promoting women's education in India.

Kasturba Gandhi National Memorial Trust | This was founded by Mahatma Gandhi. This organisation provides education and training programs for women in rural areas of India.

Women's education is crucial for promoting gender equality and ensuring the overall development of society. Despite significant progress made in the past few decades, there still exists a significant gender gap in education worldwide, particularly in developing countries. It is important to address the cultural, social, and economic barriers that prevent women from accessing education.

However, everyone needs a broad effort to make a proper education system possible in every corner of the country.

Essay on Education in 400 words

Education is the most important factor which plays a great role in the development of an individual and a country. Now a day, it has become a vital factor for the future brightness of the new generations of any society. The government has made education compulsory for all children aged 5 to 15. Education influences the lives of everyone in positive ways and teaches us to tackle any big or small problems in life. Even after a big awareness in the society towards the necessity of education for everyone, the percentage of education is still not the same in different areas of the country.

People living in the backward areas are not getting the proper benefits of a good education as they lack money and other resources. However, the government has planned and implemented new and effective strategies to resolve the problems in such areas. Education improves the mental status and changes the way of thinking of a person. It brings confidence and helps to convert the thinking into action to go ahead and get success and experience.

Without education, life becomes aimless and tough. So we should understand the importance of education and its involvement in our daily lives. We should encourage education in the backward areas by letting them know the benefits of education. Disabled and poor people are equally required and have equal rights to get educated like rich and common people to develop globally. We should try our best to get higher education and make a good education accessible for everyone globally, particularly the poor and disabled.

Some people are completely uneducated and live very painful life because of a lack of knowledge and skill. Some people are educated but do not have enough skills to earn money for their daily routine just because of the lack of a proper education system in the backward areas. Thus we should try to have equal opportunities and a good education system for everyone, whether in rich or poor regions. A country cannot grow and develop without its citizens’ individual growth and development. Thus the development of any country depends hugely on the education standard available to its citizens. A good education system must have common goals in every country to provide suitable and proper learning to its citizens.

Frequently Asked Questions on Essay writing Essay

How should students practise essay writing.

The following points should be remembered while practising essay writing: 1. Constant written practice is required for honing essay writing skills. Writing alone tests the competency of the students to ideate and execute a proper essay within a specified time. 2. In-depth knowledge on various topics is a prerequisite for students preparing to write essays in school exams and competitive examinations. Such knowledge can be acquired by regularly developing a habit of reading extensively — especially newspapers and magazines — and following other news sources on various media available to them. 3. Developing a good vocabulary is another important factor students should focus on. Essay writing demands a more formal and extensive vocabulary as the range of topics asked are so wide-ranging. Every topic will demand familiarity with words and phrases pertaining to it. Use of good idiomatic English rich with apt vocabulary will help students pen memorable essays.

How to write an essay on an unknown or unfamiliar topic?

If an essay topic is unfamiliar then students can try to write in general about topics which are related to the main topic. Reading magazines and books can help in acquisition of knowledge in various subject matters.

How to score high marks in essay writing?

Given below are some of the points to be considered to ensure that students can score high marks in essay writing. 1. Maintain flow of text in essay: Ensure that the essay follows a natural progression from introduction to conclusion. Make sure that each paragraph is thematically or logically connected to successive paragraphs. Only then will the essay be evocative and easy to read and comprehend. 2. Phrase the essay is a relatable way: Keep the target audience in mind while drafting the essay and use images and language that resonate with them. Otherwise it would fail to connect with the reader, even if you have come up with a decent essay. 3. Be creative: Show the audacity to think out of the box and to deviate from traditional ways of writing essays while coming up with ideas to present your viewpoints in the essay. Readers will be immediately drawn to a piece of writing that gives them a fresh perspective, even if you are writing on a very common topic. But too much creativity and idiosyncratic writing will only mar an otherwise well-researched essay. 4. Present the essay in a better manner: Always think of new ways and strategies to present your ideas which you may have drawn from multiple sources. Doing background research is definitely essential. But that does not mean that you have to present the content you found in the same way. A fresh approach can turn a boring essay into a very engaging one. 5. Do not be over confident: Essays usually require students to state personal opinions as well as facts. Be prudent in voicing your opinions as well as in stating facts – make sure you don’t hurt the sentiments of readers when writing on sensitive and controversial topics. Practice diligence, not overconfidence, while writing essays as a best practice.

The Beginner's Guide to Writing an Essay | Steps & Examples

An academic essay is a focused piece of writing that develops an idea or argument using evidence, analysis, and interpretation.

There are many types of essays you might write as a student. The content and length of an essay depends on your level, subject of study, and course requirements. However, most essays at university level are argumentative — they aim to persuade the reader of a particular position or perspective on a topic.

The essay writing process consists of three main stages:

  • Preparation: Decide on your topic, do your research, and create an essay outline.
  • Writing : Set out your argument in the introduction, develop it with evidence in the main body, and wrap it up with a conclusion.
  • Revision:  Check your essay on the content, organization, grammar, spelling, and formatting of your essay.

The writing process of preparation, writing, and revisions applies to every essay or paper, but the time and effort spent on each stage depends on the type of essay .

For example, if you’ve been assigned a five-paragraph expository essay for a high school class, you’ll probably spend the most time on the writing stage; for a college-level argumentative essay , on the other hand, you’ll need to spend more time researching your topic and developing an original argument before you start writing.

Prevent plagiarism. Run a free check.

Before you start writing, you should make sure you have a clear idea of what you want to say and how you’re going to say it. There are a few key steps you can follow to make sure you’re prepared:

  • Understand your assignment: What is the goal of this essay? What is the length and deadline of the assignment? Is there anything you need to clarify with your teacher or professor?
  • Define a topic: If you’re allowed to choose your own topic , try to pick something that you already know a bit about and that will hold your interest.
  • Do your research: Read  primary and secondary sources and take notes to help you work out your position and angle on the topic. You’ll use these as evidence for your points.
  • Come up with a thesis:  The thesis is the central point or argument that you want to make. A clear thesis is essential for a focused essay—you should keep referring back to it as you write.
  • Create an outline: Map out the rough structure of your essay in an outline . This makes it easier to start writing and keeps you on track as you go.

Once you’ve got a clear idea of what you want to discuss, in what order, and what evidence you’ll use, you’re ready to start writing.

The introduction sets the tone for your essay. It should grab the reader’s interest and inform them of what to expect. The introduction generally comprises 10–20% of the text.

1. Hook your reader

The first sentence of the introduction should pique your reader’s interest and curiosity. This sentence is sometimes called the hook. It might be an intriguing question, a surprising fact, or a bold statement emphasizing the relevance of the topic.

Let’s say we’re writing an essay about the development of Braille (the raised-dot reading and writing system used by visually impaired people). Our hook can make a strong statement about the topic:

The invention of Braille was a major turning point in the history of disability.

2. Provide background on your topic

Next, it’s important to give context that will help your reader understand your argument. This might involve providing background information, giving an overview of important academic work or debates on the topic, and explaining difficult terms. Don’t provide too much detail in the introduction—you can elaborate in the body of your essay.

3. Present the thesis statement

Next, you should formulate your thesis statement— the central argument you’re going to make. The thesis statement provides focus and signals your position on the topic. It is usually one or two sentences long. The thesis statement for our essay on Braille could look like this:

As the first writing system designed for blind people’s needs, Braille was a groundbreaking new accessibility tool. It not only provided practical benefits, but also helped change the cultural status of blindness.

4. Map the structure

In longer essays, you can end the introduction by briefly describing what will be covered in each part of the essay. This guides the reader through your structure and gives a preview of how your argument will develop.

The invention of Braille marked a major turning point in the history of disability. The writing system of raised dots used by blind and visually impaired people was developed by Louis Braille in nineteenth-century France. In a society that did not value disabled people in general, blindness was particularly stigmatized, and lack of access to reading and writing was a significant barrier to social participation. The idea of tactile reading was not entirely new, but existing methods based on sighted systems were difficult to learn and use. As the first writing system designed for blind people’s needs, Braille was a groundbreaking new accessibility tool. It not only provided practical benefits, but also helped change the cultural status of blindness. This essay begins by discussing the situation of blind people in nineteenth-century Europe. It then describes the invention of Braille and the gradual process of its acceptance within blind education. Subsequently, it explores the wide-ranging effects of this invention on blind people’s social and cultural lives.

Write your essay introduction

The body of your essay is where you make arguments supporting your thesis, provide evidence, and develop your ideas. Its purpose is to present, interpret, and analyze the information and sources you have gathered to support your argument.

Length of the body text

The length of the body depends on the type of essay. On average, the body comprises 60–80% of your essay. For a high school essay, this could be just three paragraphs, but for a graduate school essay of 6,000 words, the body could take up 8–10 pages.

Paragraph structure

To give your essay a clear structure , it is important to organize it into paragraphs . Each paragraph should be centered around one main point or idea.

That idea is introduced in a  topic sentence . The topic sentence should generally lead on from the previous paragraph and introduce the point to be made in this paragraph. Transition words can be used to create clear connections between sentences.

After the topic sentence, present evidence such as data, examples, or quotes from relevant sources. Be sure to interpret and explain the evidence, and show how it helps develop your overall argument.

Lack of access to reading and writing put blind people at a serious disadvantage in nineteenth-century society. Text was one of the primary methods through which people engaged with culture, communicated with others, and accessed information; without a well-developed reading system that did not rely on sight, blind people were excluded from social participation (Weygand, 2009). While disabled people in general suffered from discrimination, blindness was widely viewed as the worst disability, and it was commonly believed that blind people were incapable of pursuing a profession or improving themselves through culture (Weygand, 2009). This demonstrates the importance of reading and writing to social status at the time: without access to text, it was considered impossible to fully participate in society. Blind people were excluded from the sighted world, but also entirely dependent on sighted people for information and education.

The conclusion is the final paragraph of an essay. It should generally take up no more than 10–15% of the text . A strong essay conclusion :

  • Returns to your thesis
  • Ties together your main points
  • Shows why your argument matters

A great conclusion should finish with a memorable or impactful sentence that leaves the reader with a strong final impression.

What not to include in a conclusion

To make your essay’s conclusion as strong as possible, there are a few things you should avoid. The most common mistakes are:

  • Including new arguments or evidence
  • Undermining your arguments (e.g. “This is just one approach of many”)
  • Using concluding phrases like “To sum up…” or “In conclusion…”

Braille paved the way for dramatic cultural changes in the way blind people were treated and the opportunities available to them. Louis Braille’s innovation was to reimagine existing reading systems from a blind perspective, and the success of this invention required sighted teachers to adapt to their students’ reality instead of the other way around. In this sense, Braille helped drive broader social changes in the status of blindness. New accessibility tools provide practical advantages to those who need them, but they can also change the perspectives and attitudes of those who do not.

An essay is a focused piece of writing that explains, argues, describes, or narrates.

In high school, you may have to write many different types of essays to develop your writing skills.

Academic essays at college level are usually argumentative : you develop a clear thesis about your topic and make a case for your position using evidence, analysis and interpretation.

The structure of an essay is divided into an introduction that presents your topic and thesis statement , a body containing your in-depth analysis and arguments, and a conclusion wrapping up your ideas.

The structure of the body is flexible, but you should always spend some time thinking about how you can organize your essay to best serve your ideas.

Your essay introduction should include three main things, in this order:

  • An opening hook to catch the reader’s attention.
  • Relevant background information that the reader needs to know.
  • A thesis statement that presents your main point or argument.

The length of each part depends on the length and complexity of your essay .

A thesis statement is a sentence that sums up the central point of your paper or essay . Everything else you write should relate to this key idea.

The thesis statement is essential in any academic essay or research paper for two main reasons:

  • It gives your writing direction and focus.
  • It gives the reader a concise summary of your main point.

Without a clear thesis statement, an essay can end up rambling and unfocused, leaving your reader unsure of exactly what you want to say.

A topic sentence is a sentence that expresses the main point of a paragraph . Everything else in the paragraph should relate to the topic sentence.

At college level, you must properly cite your sources in all essays , research papers , and other academic texts (except exams and in-class exercises).

Add a citation whenever you quote , paraphrase , or summarize information or ideas from a source. You should also give full source details in a bibliography or reference list at the end of your text.

The exact format of your citations depends on which citation style you are instructed to use. The most common styles are APA , MLA , and Chicago .

Wrap Up of 2023 BMW Ts safari A Newbie’s View

AdvRiderEditor

“I’d really like to do that one day!” An email hit my inbox for the 2023 BMW TS Safari, riding the Victorian and NSW high country. I have been riding BMW adventure bikes only for about 6 years (F800GS and currently R1250GS Rallye X), and I’d always thought the GS Safari was something for my bucket list. Wrap Up of 2023 BMW Ts safari A Newbie’s View

But what about the TS – I was always concerned that I wasn’t a good enough rider to handle the stamina needed for the GS Safari, but what’s the TS Safari about?

It looked a whole lot more cruisy, bitumen the whole way, but taking back roads and seeing a whole lot of country.

Questions popped in my head as I tried to decide if I would or could, do this event: What if I had to share a room with a big hairy biker who snored?

Mmmm…. Well, that means I probably should take the Grand Tourer option for a room on my own.

What if there weren’t any other ladies on the tour? I scoured the YouTube videos of previous BMW TS Safaris, and was a bit more reassured that at least there should be ladies riding pillion, if not on-bike themselves.

I clicked the link…

Geez, there wasn’t any of the premium spots left!

I decided a snoring, big hairy biker was a deal-breaker, so emailed the support email to go on the waiting list for the Grand Tourer option, not really expecting a reply.

A couple of days later, the lovely Anthea responded to say that they had a cancellation, and there was a Grand Tourer spot with my name on it.

Boom! I was going! Excitement hit. My first BMW safari. Woop woop!

This is my experience as a newbie to BMW Safari.

Welcome Dinner and Rider’s Briefing

Wow – exceptionally well organised! Registration, getting your event bag of goodies, and the first, welcome dinner appeared to run seamlessly, but was fun and laidback, meeting lots of new people. This was where we met all the team – tour owners and organisers, lead riders, sweep riders, tour doctor (riding too), tech specialist, luggage support, and weather girl.

After a pretty flash meal – thank you RACV Country Club Healesville – the first rider briefing kicked off. Lots of info to assimilate:

  •  Maps of the first day’s route
  • GPS files for those with Garmins
  • Route marking put out by the lead riders
  • How to stay in front of the sweep rider on route
  • And what to do if you needed help.

Daily Riding

The tour ran for 5 days (6 nights) heading to Bright for 2 days, then Jindabyne, Canberra and Sydney. It was exceptional country and beautiful riding. Every day! And there weren’t any hairy bikers, that I was hoping wouldn’t be there. In fact, the average age was around 60, predominantly gentlemanly fellas, and nine ladies with two on-bike (myself included). It was a lovely group. And there were many exceptional riders. So, the event wasn’t just a great tour, there were lots of lessons learnt riding with more experienced people.

Clearly, I lot of effort had gone in to making the route, and therefore the riding, special. Lots of alpine twisties and sweepers, some technical riding, and other areas just taking in the stunning scenery. Epic views, beautiful high- country rivers, high alpine plains, winding national park roads. There was a huge variety in the type of roads that seemed to tick everyone’s ‘best road’ boxes.

In the high alpine areas above the tree line, we had some gnarly cross-winds on Day 2 that I found difficult, but most other riders didn’t seem too affected. Given that I hadn’t ridden any of the roads from Day 2 onwards, it truly was an adventure.

Every day had its challenging sections and it certainly wasn’t just a cruisy route.

On Day 4, the temperature leaving Jindabyne was a barmy two degrees and there had been a dusting of snow over- night on the higher areas we were riding through to start with. It was super cold! An hour into the route, Adaminaby became the stop for a coffee by what seemed like half the tour. There were about 30 bikes in the tiny main street.

Goodness knows what the locals thought! But the café did a brisk trade of coffees, muffins and cakes, warming up all the BMW icicles. And the group was having fun, regardless of the temperature.

What Didn’t Go Well?

There wasn’t much that didn’t go well. The whole event was professionally organised and I felt like I could just concentrate on riding and enjoying myself.

Hotel and food options in the smaller places we stayed was naturally more difficult, and if there were any areas that could improve, it might be around these. It meant that a couple of breakfasts and a dinner wasn’t provided as part of the tour cost. However, I cannot think of an alternative option when we were staying in smaller towns and the group spread across several locations. The accommodation and meals in the larger towns was top-notch and on target for the money.

I think there were a couple of ‘offs, a couple of riders overcooking corners, but nobody was hurt. And one tyre puncture that was plugged on the route and then replaced that evening by the techie. So quite different from the GS Safari. My 2022 R1250 GS Rallye X did not miss a beat, it ate up the kilometres and seemed to come alive on some of those twisties near Omeo!

What Did I Learn?

As a newbie to BMW Safari, I was originally a bit anxious about navigating, staying in front of the sweep rider, and whether I would have enough stamina to ride for five full days. And like so many things we get worried about, all of these were, in the end, absolutely fine.

I found that I navigated using the placed arrows and the GPS file, so it didn’t matter ifIwasridinginagrouporonmyown.I didn’t really use the map provided during the day, but did like to study it the night before, so I understood the route we were taking. Other riders relied entirely on the arrows on the route, particularly if they didn’t have a GPS. It was very doable without relying on the Garmin.

Even though I wasn’t remotely one of the fastest riders (and the tour wasn’t about speed anyway), I think I spotted our sweep riders only once, when I was leaving a town after lunch, and they were pulling in. It just wasn’t an issue and the group seemed to find its natural rhythm – who liked to be out front and who liked to take it easy and stop to see the sights. And there was plenty of time to stop where you wanted to.

And what about energy levels?

That wasn’t a problem either. Six to eight hours in the saddle every day turned out to be doable. It was tiring and you needed to pace yourself. And I needed a couple of days to recover once home again, so if you plan to do one of these events, don’t go back to work the next working day!

Would I Do It Again?

Absolutely, yes! I had a ball and thoroughly enjoyed meeting lots of new, likeminded riders. And even if it turned out that I was the only girl on another BMW safari or tour, it just wouldn’t be a problem.

So, perhaps I will see you on the next one?

                                                                                                                        Value Of Education Essay

Importance of Education

Education makes people independent. Furthermore, it increases knowledge, strengthens the mind, and forms character. Moreover, education enables people to put their potentials to optimum use.

Education is also a type of reform for the human mind. Without education, the training of the human mind would always remain incomplete.

Education makes a person an efficient decision-maker and a right thinker. Moreover, this is possible only with the help of education. This is because education acquaints an individual with knowledge of the world around him and beyond, besides teaching the individual to be a better judge of the present.

A person that receives education shall have more avenues for the life of his choice. Moreover, an educated person will be able to make decisions in the best possible manner. This is why there is such a high demand for educated people over uneducated people for the purpose of employment .

Negative Impact of Lack of Education

Without education, a person would feel trapped. One can understand this by the example of a man who is confined to a closed room, completely shut from the outside world, with no way to exit it. Most noteworthy, an uneducated person can be compared to this confined man.

Education enables a person to access the open world. Furthermore, a person without education is unable to read and write. Consequently, a person without education would remain closed to all the knowledge and wisdom an educated person can gain from books and other mediums.

The literacy rate of India stands at around 60% in comparison to more than 80% literacy rate of the rest of the world. Moreover, the female literacy rate is 54.16% in accordance with the 2001 population census. These figures certainly highlight the massive problem of lack of education in India.

To promote education, the government of India takes it as a national policy. The intention of the government is to target the very cause of illiteracy. As such, the government endeavours to eradicate illiteracy, which in turn would lead to the eradication of poverty .

The government is running various literacy programmes like the free-education programme, weekend and part-time study programme, continuing education programme, mid-day meal programme, adult literacy programme, etc. With the consistent success rate of these programmes, hopefully, things will better.

Education For All

Essay No. 01

India has a democratic form of government. The people elect their representative by votes. But the people are not very much aware of the rights to vote. It is because they are illiterate. They are easily moved by appeals made in the name of religions , caste and language. Illiteracy is a curse. Have we ever thought that 50 % of the world’s illiterates are Indians? Population – wise out of every 20 people in the world, there are three Indians. Out of these three Indians , only one is literate while two are illiterate. In India illiteracy rate is 64% in which 56% are men and 76% are women. The political power is directly related to the amount of education to change the social structure and social backward condition. States with higher literacy rates have large portion of people taking interest in voting. Education mother’s have a small family of two healthier children at an average while the illiterate mother have six or more children.

Illiterate people have certain expectations from literary programmes. The meaning of literacy should enable them to lead a better kind of life. The behaviour of literacy teaches fails to treat them as adults. The teachers act in superior manner as we find in case of primary school teachers coaching children. Illiterate people should be involved actively in all learning process. The method of teaching and behavior in class both should be different according to need and experience of adults. The teacher should keep in mind that our learners have

had a rich experience of life, energy and enthusiasm played an active role society maturity and wisdom, organized and planned their activities. Creative abilities with varied skills. Besides it, the teacher should keep in mind the aim of adult literacy.  Literacy : Promotes self- respect of the individual. Results in better health awareness and care. Helps raise the status of women. Increases participation in the democratic process. Brings about an awareness of rights Helps prevent exploitation and improves earnings. Give the individual  greater control over their own lives. Promotes environmental awareness.

For the purpose of education adults may be divided into two classes – the illiterate and the partially literates. The adult education is based on the idea that no one can be completely happy unless he or she is educated. After all education opens the eye of mind. The minimum that is expected by adult education is the ability to read the daily newspaper and to follow the current events of the world.

Generally almost all the work of adults education is done free. It is done  in spirit of social service. The importance of this adult education has now been fully known all over the country. Students of colleges and schools are taking keen interest in these programmes such as ‘Each one Teach one’ and ‘the National Literacy Mission’. Adult education is   a noble work in which everybody can take part. It is a work of great donation- “Vidya Dan is Maha Dan.”

Essay No. 02

Education of all

Every child has the right to free primary education, says Article 28 of the UN convention on the rights of the child.

In 1986, the National Policy on Education had vowed to provide free and compulsory education to all children upto 14 years of age before the 21 st century. India has the largest number of illiterates in the world. Of the 130 million out-of-school children in the world, more than 100 million are in India (60 percent girls), of these (6-14 age group) 30 million have never enrolled in a school. For millions of children, who do not know where their next meal will come from, education is perhaps a luxury. With 150 million children enrolled and an army of 30 lakh teachers, we can boast of the world’s largest elementary education system. The national literacy rate has increased from 15 percent in 1951 to 64 percent in 1998. All state governments have abolished tuition fees in government schools upto the upper primary level. Of 25 states, 15 states and four UTs have passed legislative acts making primary education compulsory. Though access to primary education, retention of students and quality of education have improved, the task of universalisation of elementary education is far from complete.

There have been several milestones marking India’s commitment to elementary education. In 1992, the Supreme Court held. “The citizens of  the country have a fundamental right to education. The government introduced the 83 rd Constitutional Amendment Bill in the Parliament, making right to education from 6-14 years a fundamental right. But the bill which was sent to the Rajya Sabha for discussions may die a natural death, unsung. But laws alone are not enough. Some 60 millions girls between 6-14 years of age are out of school. Girls face discrimination, and may not attend school for reasons like distance or their “better utility” at home. It is the social attitude that discourages girls from becoming educated in the belief that they will no longer remain meek and submissive, qualities essential to make them ideal housewives. To make universal elementary education a reality, local communities and Panchayats have to be mobilized. If there is political will, an initiative such as this will find ready support from the community.

Essay No. 03

Education for All

Education is a tool that can play a vital role in improving the   socio-economic condition of the nation. It empowers citizens with analytical abilities, leads to better confidence levels and fortifies one with will power and goal setting competencies.

Education involves not only textbook learning but also a growth of values, skills and capacities. This helps individuals to plan for their career as well as play a useful part in building a new society with progressive values. Hence, education results in changing both individual lives as well as that of the entire community for the better. The education sector has been of vital importance to the Indian Government which has been regularly formulating provisions and schemes for promoting elementary education.

The Right to Education has also been enshrined as a Fundamental Right by the Constitution of India. It states that “The State shall provide free and compulsory education to all children of the age of six to fourteen years in such a manner as the State may, by law, determine.”

To promote literacy among its citizens, the Government of India has launched several schemes such as the Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya Scheme, Mid-day Meal Scheme and the National Program for Education of Girls at Elementary Level (NPEGEL). One of the most fundamental and promising of these schemes is the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan. The Sarva Shiksha Abhiyaan is also known as the Education for All movement or ‘Each One Teach One’. It was introduced in 2000-2001 as the flagship programme run by the Government of India. This scheme is framed to provide useful and relevant elementary education for all children in the age group of six to fourteen. The Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan aims to bridge social, regional and gender gaps, with the active participation of the community in the management of schools.
