  • User`s reviews

Essay Jedi was launched in 2013, as a writing service with a business model that acts as a connection between students and freelance writers who are registered on its site. In its three years of business, there have been a number of customer reviews posted on other review sites and social media. We have used these as well as a number of other factors in providing this review for users of this site. Those factors include the information and content on the EssayJedi.com website, our communication with customer support, testimonials that customers have posted on the profiles of writers, and our own experience of ordering a college research paper from one of the company’s writers. This review is a summation of all that we have discovered.

Products and Services

EssayJedi promotes primarily academic writing products – essays, papers, coursework, reviews, case studies, presentations, theses, dissertations, admissions essays, and more. There is a complete detailed listing when a student begins the ordering process by filling out the order form.

Once the order is submitted, the student will begin to receive bids from site writers. Students can then access the writer profiles and see titles of works they have completed and a student testimonial and rating.

Website Quality

The Essay Jedi site is rather sparse. In fact, there is very little information provided to a visitor at all. There is a link for “how it works” and a short “FAQ” page. Beyond that, however, a visitor will not find any policies or samples of writing, only titles of writing pieces that have been recently completed, as examples of the types of writing a student can order.

There just is not enough information about the company, its writers or its policies to make us feel comfortable.

Quality of Products and Services

While the on-site testimonials are all complimentary, we did not find off-site reviews to be so. In fact, there are many complaints about the quality of writing that site writers provide, about resources used, and about the lack of responsiveness of both writers and customer service.

The paper we ordered was obviously produced by an ESL writer – numerous basic errors in composition and incorrect word usage. We would not consider the piece submission-ready.

There are two ways to contact customer support – via email or live chat. Unfortunately, after three attempts, we were still not able to find anyone available on the chat feature, only the comment that no one was available and to please send an email instead. This does not engender much confidence.

Our other major concern is the control that EssayJedi.com has over the quality of its writers. There is a link to become a writer for the company. There is absolutely no method of checking or verifying any educational or writing background on any of the writers – just submit your name and areas in which you would like to write. We actually applied to be a writer and were told just to submit our email address and we could begin to bid on orders. This is a huge red flag.

Because customers do order and receive their products, we will not say that EssayJedi is a fraud or scam. However, given the lack of quality control on writers, we are not very high on this company.

Prices and Discounts

If a visitor is look for prices, discounts, coupon codes, or any type of promo code for new customers, he will find nothing of the kind. When we placed our order, we received numerous bids for our 8-page paper that ranged from $132 - $168. We did negotiate a reduction in price from the writer we chose, so perhaps that can be considered a discount of sorts.

Extra Features

Just as there is not set pricing, there are also no extra features, unless, of course, they can be negotiated with a writer whose bid you select.

Looking at pros & cons of this writing service, we are hard-pressed to find any pros. There is not quality control of writer qualifications and backgrounds; it appears that writers are ESL and do not produce scholarly English language pieces. Further, the company does not have a BBB membership.

We cannot recommend Essay Jedi.

"At first I was like: Look at this awesome site! They are so creative to use Star Wars as their main idea! Probably they write the same way! - I was so, so, so awesomely wrong! After my deadline wasn`t met I started having bad feelings about my paper in general. Having no cell number I had an option of sending an e-mail or using live chat (that doesnt work by the way!). I was in panic! They delivered my paper only 15 hours after the deadline. To my complain about half money back they didnt react at all. Wrote something like: we warned you about the delay before you ordered. What? Liars! It was my first and LAST time working with EssayJedi!"

"If a grade -5 existed I would have given it to this service. Performing writing tasks is mission impossible for them! First, they make you look like a dumb because they ask thousands of unrelated to your order questions. Second, they can`t and even don`t try to fill in with the timing you give them. A question comes: Why should I waste my money on it??"

"The last place I will ever ask for help at is this one. No 24/7 support (although it is guaranteed on their web page). No free extra features (although, they are also illuminated on their web). I had to reach the support member first and place my questions to the writer through her. One more minus is that they require the whole payment at the very beginning without a chance to check the sample. Do not recommend. "

EssayJedi Review by Rated by Students

According to its site copyright, EssayJedi.com was established in 2013. Because our site has received comments and feedback from customers, we made the decision to conduct a full review of the company and its writing services. As is our normal practice, we looked at a number of factors – the information contained on the website, including Essay Jedi testimonials, writers’ information and samples, communications with the customer support department, pricing, Essay Jedi student reviews that we have found online, and the results of our order of a research paper. This EssayJedi review is the compilation of all that we have found and evaluation.

content essayjedi

Essay Jedi provides academic writing, the details of which are found in a drop-down menu on the order form. It offers the normal academic products from high school essays through doctoral dissertations.

It is difficult to judge the quality of products or services, because there are no samples on the site, no log, and the content on the only four landing pages is very short. As we read through the content, however, we noticed a number of grammatical errors, indicating that it was written by a non-ENL individual.

The paper we received, an 8-page piece with a 7-day deadline included the same types of errors; however, there were also structural issues and no thesis statement from which the author was working. The writing and the resources used were not at an acceptable level for college writing.

Comments and feedback on other review sites and social media was quite negative. Student were unhappy with their products and felt they had no recourse.

Our EssayJedi review in the area of quality is that the company does not produce writing products that meet customer expectations.

The first concern we had was that there was no contact information whatsoever – no phone number, no chat, and no company email. We were therefore unable to speak with any representative regarding products or services. This is a big red flag.

Writers bid on orders, and there is no way to tell if they are qualified to produce the piece of writing. While customers can certainly speak with the bidders directly and inquire about credentials, there appears to be no quality control from an administrative source.

EssayJedi prices are not published anywhere, because there is no set pricing schedule. Prices are determined as a result of negotiations between bidders and customers. While there are no EssayJedi.com discounts, we were able to negotiate a 10% drop in price from the writer we ultimately selected to write our paper. Obviously, there is no EssayJedi coupon code, nor are there Essay Jedi coupon codes for any types of discounts. Our paper cost was $118.00 which is in the low average range for the industry.

Simply put, there are no additional benefits or free services. As well, there is no EssayJedi.com BBB membership; however, there are a number of complaints registered with the organization.

The combined EssayJedi reviews from former customers and our own investigation of this company raise many concerns. Quality of writing is not high; there is no customer service and no method of contacting the company. We can say that Essay Jedi is safe in term of payment security, and that I about the only positive element. We would not recommend this company to students and our EsayJedi.com rating is “Poor.”

doesn't recommended this service

Positive: Fast and cheap.

Negative: Disgusting quality. My paper wasn`t accepted by my professor. Why? Because there were missing parts, no comments and no hints of quotations usage. Hm... I wonder, actually I do, what did I invest my money into?

Positive: Friendly support team.

Negative: For me it is still a complete mystery of where had my term paper spend five additional days and still had a poor quality?! To this question, I didn`t get a normal answer that could have explained or illuminated the situation. To add more, I expected the paper to have at least a summary page or conclusions - but none of those were found. Sadly, that was the last time of my partnership with Essay Jedi.

Positive: Seriously none.

Negative: Everything was perfect with this writing resource until I paid the money. After they had received the payment everything gone in the wrong direction. The writer stopped communicating with me and I had to message the support to get at least a single clue on what was going on with my order. Moreover, they skipped the due date and asked to wait for two days more. That was the first and the last time I worked with them.

Positive: Nice design of the website. Easy to find information.

Negative: Hard to be connected with the support department, no possibility of direct communication with the writer. Not the best paper quality. They almost failed to complete my essay within the established time frame. Yet, gave me an apology discount.

Positive: The design is fun and cool really

Negative: The quality is not good at all

Essayjedii.com review 2022

Our ultimate top 3 best essay writing services this month:.

Choosing a perfect academic writing service is usually not an easy task. When surfing online for another solution to get my assignment done, I found Essay Jedii. Its main web page looked modern and engaging, so I decided to learn more about the service. In this post, I would like to share my experience of using the service and provide you with the freshest info about its operating principles and quality of papers. Continue reading EssayJedii review to discover all its benefits and drawbacks.

About EssayJedii

Essay Jedi is not a traditional academic writing service with skilled and professional writers. It is a platform that is developed to connect students and freelance writers. What other peculiarities does it have? Let’s explore the service in detail.

The company’s website looked very welcoming at first glance. However, when you scroll the main web page, you will definitely notice that it has a broken design with outdated fonds, poor images, and loading issues. The EssayJedii website appeared to be unprofessional and low-quality. Moreover, it didn’t contain enough info about the service.

If you are looking for the prices for buying essays, you will not find this information on the website. The fact is that it has a bid system. It means that you need to place an order and wait for the writers to offer bids for completing your assignment. As for me, it is not convenient since I prefer to discover the cost of my essay beforehand.

When choosing a writing service that will fit your academic needs, it is always a good idea to find out the reviews of using the service shared by other students. There are tons of positive EssayJedii reviews available on its website.

But what about independent feedback services? Let’s discover the reviews of using the writing solution on more reliable sources like SiteJabber and TrustPilot. I was surprised to discover that none of these feedback giants contained any reviews of using

Jedi essay. It looked like the company was not popular among learners.

Prices, Deadlines and Discounts

According to the EssayJedii official website, the prices for getting your assignments done start from $8.48 per page. However, this is a price for a High school essay with a maximum delivery date. If you would like to buy a more complicated academic paper, get ready to pay from $50 to $170. By the way, the most urgent deadline available is 3 hours (but it is also the most expensive one.)

The process of placing the order is simple and understandable. You will need to fill in the form on the site.

It is worth mentioning that the company offers some additional services available at extra cost:

  • Featured order. If you pick up this feature, your order will have the highest priority. Feel free to book it for $21.99;
  • VIP support. If you need some extra help from a personal support agent, get ready to pay $5.99 per page;
  • Proofread by an editor. This feature is available for $2.99 per page.

Please note that extra features are not refundable.

Some students might be looking for an Essay jedi promo code to get the most affordable price for their essay. However, the company doesn’t offer any coupon or discount codes.

Is Essayjedii Worth It?

I placed an order to get my essay on Advertisement done within 10 days. My paper was delivered on time. I looked through my essay, and it seemed to have good quality. There were no mistakes. Moreover, the writer picked up excellent arguments for my essay. I paid for my order and was feeling happy because of having a nice and polished essay.

Fortunately, I decided to double-check the originality of my paper before passing it to the professor. The results made me feel furious! The originality of my paper was only 23%! To put it short, the writer just copied and pasted data from different sources! The paper appeared to be real garbage!

I decided to ask the service to give me my money back. However, they didn’t refund me a cent for my order! Go on reading this Essay jedi review to know why.

Terms of Use

According to the Terms of Use of EssayJedii, you can’t ask for any refund after approving and paying for your order. I tried to explain my issue to the support manager, but they just ignored my letters. I was treated badly and had no chance to get my money back.

As for the revision policy, you need to reach an agreement about revision with your writer. You are lucky if your writer agrees to modify and polish your essay. However, if your expert refuses to make any edits, that is solely your problem. In this case, the only thing you can do is leave negative feedback on the writer’s page and find another professional to complete your assignment. The service has no responsibility for the quality of their essays.

The support system of EssayJedii is very limited. There are no phone numbers or emails available. The only source of communication is online chat. Unfortunately, the manager in online chat was incredibly low to reply. I was forced to wait for over 30 minutes to start communication!

Is EssayJedii legit?

I don’t think that it is a legit service. There is no info about the company’s registration available.

Is EssayJedii safe?

I believe using EssayJedii is not safe. You can easily get a poorly written paper. Moreover, the company’s guarantees are miserable.

essay jedi reviews

Now streaming on:

Writer/director Rian Johnson ’s “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” is a sprawling, incident- and character-packed extravaganza that picks up at the end of “ Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens ” and guides the series into unfamiliar territory. It’s everything a fan could want from a “ Star Wars ” film and then some. Even the sorts of viewers who spend the entire running time of movies anticipating every plot twist and crowing “ called it!” when they get one right are likely to come up short here. But the surprises usually don’t violate the (admittedly loose) internal logic of the universe George Lucas invented, and when they seem to, it’s because the movie has expanded the mythology in a small but significant way, or imported a sliver of something from another variant of Lucas’ creation (Genddy Tartakovsky’s magnificent TV series “Clone Wars” seems to have influenced the last act).

The first part of “The Last Jedi” cross-cuts between the remnants of our heroes’ ragtag fleet (led by the late Carrie Fisher ’s Leia) running away from the First Order, aka the next-generation version of the Empire; and Rey ( Daisy Ridley ) on the aquatic planet Ahch-To ( gesundheit !) trying to convince the self-exiled Jedi master Luke Skywalker ( Mark Hamill , whose sandblasted face becomes truly iconic in close-ups) to overcome his grief at failing a group of young Jedi trainees and rejoin the Resistance. The New Order's Supreme Leader Snoke ( Andy Serkis plus CGI) has grand plans for both Rey and his Darth Vader-obsessed apprentice Kylo Ren ( Adam Driver ). The leathery old coot may not be a great bad guy—he’s too much of a standard-issue deep-voiced sadist, in a Marvel mode—but he is quite the chess player, and so is Johnson.

I’m being vague here on purpose. Suffice to say that, despite being comprised of variations on things we’ve been experiencing directly (in “Star Wars” films) and indirectly (in “Star Wars”-inspired entertainment) since 1977, “The Last Jedi” still manages to maneuver in unexpected ways, starting with the decision to build a whole film around a retreat where the goal is not to win but to avoid being wiped out. Along that narrative backbone “The Last Jedi” strings what amount to several tight, often hastily devised mini-missions, each of which either moves the heroes (or villains) closer to their goals or blows up in their faces. The story resolves in lengthy, consecutive climaxes which, refreshingly, don’t play like a cynical attempt to pad things out. Old business is resolved, new business introduced.

And from scene to scene, Johnson gives veteran characters (Chewbacca and R2-D2 especially) and those who debuted in “The Force Awakens” enough screen time to showcase them at their best while also introducing compelling new faces (including a heroic maintenance worker, Kelly Marie Tran ’s Rose Tico; a serene and tough vice admiral in the Resistance, played by Laura Dern ; a sort of “safecracker” character played by Benicio Del Toro ).

“Jedi” does a better job than most sequels of giving the audience both what it wants and what it didn’t know it wanted. The movie leans hard into sentiment, most of it planted in the previous installment, some related to the unexpected passing of one of its leads (Fisher—thank goodness they gave her a lot of screen time here, and thrilling things to do). But whenever it allows a character to cry (or invites us to) the catharsis feels earned. It happens rather often—this being a film preoccupied with grieving for the past and transcending it, populated by hounded and broken people who are afraid hope will be snuffed out.

Rey’s anguish at not knowing who her parents are and Kylo Ren’s trauma at killing his own father to advance toward his "destiny" literally as well as figuratively mirror each other. Lifting a bit of business glimpsed briefly in “ The Empire Strikes Back ” and " Return of the Jedi ," Johnson lets these all-powerful characters telepathically “speak” to each other across space as easily as you or I might Skype with a friend. This gimmick offers so much potential for drama and wry humor that you might wonder why nobody did it earlier.

Sometimes "The Last Jedi" violates our expectations in a cheeky way that stops short of telling super-fans to get over themselves. There’s a touch of “ Spaceballs ” and “Robot Chicken” to some of the jokes. Snoke orders Kylo to “take off that ridiculous helmet,” Luke chastises an old friend for showing a nostalgic video by muttering “That was a cheap move,” and an early gag finds one of the heroes calling the bridge of a star destroyer and pretending to be stuck on hold. This aspect adds a much-needed dash of self-deprecating humor (“The Force Awakens” was often a stitch as well, especially when Han Solo, Chewbacca, BB-8 and John Boyega ’s James Garner-like hero/coward Finn were onscreen), but without going so meta that "The Last Jedi" turns into a smart-alecky thesis paper on itself.

The movie works equally well as an earnest adventure full of passionate heroes and villains and a meditation on sequels and franchise properties. Like “The Force Awakens,” only more so, this one is preoccupied with questions of legacy, legitimacy and succession, and includes multiple debates over whether one should replicate or reject the stories and symbols of the past. Among its many valuable lessons is that objects have no worth save for the feelings we invest in them, and that no individual is greater than a noble idea.

Johnson has made some very good theatrical features, but the storytelling here owes the most to his work on TV’s “Breaking Bad,” a playfully convoluted crime drama that approached each new installment with the street illusionist’s panache: the source of delight was always in the hand you weren’t looking at. There are points where the film appears to have miscalculated or made an outright lame choice (this becomes worrisome in the middle, when Dern’s Admiral Holdo and Oscar Isaac ’s hotshot pilot Poe Dameron are at loggerheads), but then you realize that it was a setup for another payoff that lands harder because you briefly doubted that “The Last Jedi” does, in fact, know what it’s doing.

This determination to split the difference between surprise and inevitability is encoded in “The Last Jedi” down to the level of scenes and shots. How many Star Destroyers, TIE fighters, Imperial walkers, lightsabers, escape pods, and discussions of the nature of The Force have we seen by now? Oodles. But Johnson manages to find a way to present the technology, mythology and imagery in a way that makes it feel new, or at least new-ish, starting with a shot of Star Destroyers materializing from hyperspace in the sky over a planet (as seen from ground level) and continuing through images of Rebel ships being raked apart by Imperial cannon fire like cans on a shooting range and, hilariously, a blurry video conference in which the goggle-eyed warrior-philosopher Maz Kanata (voiced by Lupita Nyong'o ) delivers important information while engaging in a shootout with unseen foes. (She calls it a “union matter.”)

There’s greater attention paid here to color and composition than in any entry since “The Empire Strikes Back.” Particularly dazzling are Snoke’s throne room, with its Dario Argento-red walls and red-armored guards, and the final battle, set on a salt planet whose flat white surfaces get ripped up to reveal shades of crimson. (Seen from a distance, the battlefield itself seems to be bleeding.) The architecture of the action sequences is something to behold. A self-enclosed setpiece in the opening space battle is more emotionally powerful than any action sequence in any blockbuster this year, save the "No Man's Land" sequence of " Wonder Woman ," and it's centered on a character we just met.

There are spots where the film can’t figure out how to get the characters to where it needs them to be and just sort of shrugs and says, “And then this happened, now let’s get on with it.” But there are fewer such moments than you might have gone in prepared to forgive—and really, if that sort of thing were a cinematic crime, Howard Hawks would have gotten the chair. Most importantly, the damned thing moves, both in a plot sense and in the sense of a skilled choreographer-dancer who has visualized every millisecond of his routine and practiced it to the point where grace seems to come as easily as breathing. Or skywalking.

Hey, want to make the most of writting services?

Here's our this month's best picks

SpeedyPaper

Writepaperforme, service overview.

Are you a fan of the Star Wars media franchise? Then you will enjoy the EssayJedii.com site! It uses the pics of characters from the Star Wars movie on promotion banners to attract visitors. Unfortunately, it's hard to take them seriously since it looks like a fun-club, not like a paper writing service.

Anyway, their main goal is to provide assignment writing services. Everything looks simple from the first sight. You need to place an order and specify your requirements.

After this, you'll be able to find a writer who is the most qualified to complete your assignment. Then, you can chat with your writer to negotiate the details and later, even control the progress.

It sounds like a perfect plan, but I can assure you that this company will disappoint you. Read my Essay Jedi review to find out what to expect from this writing service.

Quality of Services

These guys state that they have a team of writers and each of them is an expert in a few academic fields. Sounds great! Unfortunately, there is no guarantee that you will get an essay that is free of grammar mistakes and plagiarism. Moreover, there are no guarantees that your essay will be done at all.

After placing an order on the site, I've received a message that writers are reviewing my order, and I need to wait up to 10 mins. I didn't receive any messages even in two hours! I've never used such a terrible essay writing service! I decided to leave my laptop for a night on the bidding page, giving the last chance to this service.

The next day, as I expected, my inbox was empty, not a single bid. I also didn't receive any messages from the customer support team with explanations of why there are no writers to do my order. Still, I am going to finish this EssayJedii review and highlight other details you should know about this service.

Prices and Deadlines

The main banner informs that you can get an essay for $8.49. Let's try to check if it is true. According to other EssayJedii reviews, it is a piece of enormous luck when at least one writer sends you a reply.

Since there is no competition among the experts on the site, writers place very high bids. That's why the average price for a one-page essay may be twice higher than you have expected.

Will the Jedi power help me to keep my money safe? Unfortunately, no! The refund paragraph on the terms of use page informs that there are no refunds at all.

In other words, all their products and services come with no returns and warranties. Hence, even if you have a lightsaber, you won't be able to get a chargeback in case of …. in any case, NO REFUNDS at all.

Online Reputation

The service rating is 9.7 out of 10! It looks promising until you decide to see what people say about this company elsewhere on the web. Almost in each and every EssayJedii review, you'll face the same problem that I had - no bids at all.

Those, the lucky ones who could see at least one bid and got the writing assistance from EssayJedi were not satisfied either. That's why the real rating of this company on the web is much lower. For some reason, I could not even find at least one review on SiteJabber and TrustPilot.

Customer Support

It's the third day when I am writing this Essay Jedi review. Unfortunately, the live chat is still inactive. I received no bids from writers and I cannot contact the customer support to clarify the issue. Excellent! No wonder it is hard to find a detailed Essay Jedi review when the company ignores its users and you have nothing to say about it because you cannot even try this service.

There is nothing to say about this service, nothing good, that's for sure. I placed an order but didn't receive even a single bid, even a day after. My attempts to contact customer support failed since the live chat never works.

Finally, the last argument why it is not the best idea to use this service, even if you could hire a writer is that there are no refunds. I think all these facts are enough to leave this site and find a better one, at least the one which has live chat and writers.

1. Is EssayJedii scam?

Their live chat never works and it is almost impossible to find an available writer. You are all alone on this site.

2. Is EssayJedii reliable?

It is the worst place to order essay writing services. No writers, no customer support, no refunds.

3. Is EssayJedii legit?

There is no information about the company's physical address and registration and they provide no refunds. Make conclusions yourself.

Critical Opinion: Return of the Jedi Original Reviews

Critical opinion: return of the jedi original reviews.

Mark Newbold

Look back at what critics, from Roger Ebert to the New York Times , had to say about Return of the Jedi in 1983.

Thankfully for fans of Star Wars everywhere, The Empire Strikes Back proved that you could go back to the well a second time (not counting the Holiday Special , of course) and recreate the magic of the Star Wars galaxy in a very different way. As 1983 rolled around the world held its breath as Return of the Jedi arrived in North American cinemas nationwide on May 25, 1983, (2nd June here in the UK) and fans played Wookiee hookey and flocked in their droves to see the film. Commercially, Jedi was a monster success, breaking single day and opening weekend records with ease and catapulting the film swiftly up the all time charts. Indeed, by the end of the year the all time domestic top 3 read:

2: Star Wars

3: Return of the Jedi

But box office success, as welcome and indeed required as it was, wasn't the only marker by which the film was judged. Star Wars had won over the public, and many of the critics, as the harder, more serious overtones of Empire   equally divided opinions  across the globe. But how would Jedi , a film more visibly pitched at a younger, toy hungry audience but loaded with serious undertones, fare with the critics?

Writing in the Chicago Tribune , Roger Ebert was  certainly captivated  by the second sequel, citing the swashbuckling spirit of the trilogy and the slew of imaginative ideas littering the screen.

"From the moment that the familiar ‘ Star Wars ’ introduction words begin to crawl up the screen, ‘ Return of the Jedi ’ is a childlike delight. It’s the best video game around. And for the professional moviegoers, it is particularly enjoyable to watch every facet of filmmaking at its best. It is that extra level of detail that makes the Star Wars pictures much more than just space operas. Other movies might approach the special effects. Other action pictures might approximate the sense of swashbuckling adventure. But in " Return of the Jedi ," as in " Star Wars " and " The Empire Strikes Back ," there's such a wonderful density to the canvas. Things are happening all over. They're pouring forth from imaginations so fertile that, yes, we do halfway believe in this crazy Galactic Empire long ago and far, far away."

" Return of the Jedi " is fun, magnificent fun. The movie is a complete entertainment, a feast for the eyes and a delight for the fancy. It's a little amazing how Lucas and his associates keep topping themselves."

And he celebrated the skill and inventiveness with which the saga was brought to the screen.

"From the point of view of simple movie-making logistics, there is an awesome amount of work on the screen in "Jedi" (twice as many visual effects as "Star Wars" in the space battles, Lucas claims). The fact that the makers of "Jedi" are able to emerge intact from their task, having created a very special work of the imagination, is the sort of miracle that perhaps Obi-Wan would know something about."

Indeed he would, and Ebert was not alone in his praise for the film. Leonard Maltin of Entertainment Tonight was similarly ebullient about the third entry into the saga, while ringing a note of concern about the performances.

“Third installment in the ‘Star Wars’ saga is a sheer delight. Some routine performances are compensated for by ingenious new characters and special effects.”

"His “ The Empire Strikes Back ” of three years later was the expected sequel, of comparable technical efficiency but no longer seeming so original; and it is with some alarm that I read now that Return of the Jedi , which completes the trilogy, by no means brings the series to an end. For in the new film the former flair and invention are lacking, making the prospect of the two more trilogies planned on the same lines very daunting.

"While a certain amount of drama is found in these revealing scenes, it is somewhat dissipated in the romantic relations between Leia and Solo (which result from Luke disclosing that Leia is his sister). The dialogue given to the lovers is laughable, and their performances match it. So what is presumably intended as a great romantic finale comes to little, which might equally be said of the film as a whole.

"The appeal, perhaps, will be strongest to the young. The invited audience at the Press show was predominantly juvenile."

Clearly no love for the film or of the series there. Writing in the Washington Post  on 22nd May 1983 Gary Arnold was  far more engaged by the material , discussing the impact on contemporary culture the three films had had, a point worth mentioning thirty plus years later as we still revel in today.

" Return Of the Jedi ," a feat of mass enchantment, puts the happy finishing touches on George Lucas' " Star Wars " saga. It was worth the wait, and the work is now an imposing landmark in contemporary popular culture -- a three-part, 6 ¼-hour science-fiction epic of unabashed heroic proclivities.

To put it another way, " Return Of the Jedi ," which opens Wednesday at area theaters, is rather obviously (but irresistibly) calculated to permit a reunited " Star Wars " family -- filmmakers and spectators alike -- to have their cake and eat it. If the confection appealed to you in the first place, there's certainly no reason for rejecting this lavish climax. But you may also find yourself reflecting that it's not only the jubilant culmination of a good thing but also enough of a good thing.

A poster for Return of the Jedi features Leia, Luke, Han, Lando, Wicket, Jabba, and Bib Fortuna with Darth Vader looming large behind them.

Arnold also broaches the matter of 'happy endings', a worthwhile discussion given that originally a number of the lead characters and beloved vehicles were to meet their fates during the climax of the film.

"Lucas' apparent reluctance to take any big chances with the scenario in " Jedi ," which shies away from the darker, tangled implications of the unanswered questions in "Empire," is easy to comprehend. He's so protective of the public attachment to his dream world that he resists taking many fresh risks or unfamiliar paths. The stakes are so huge that he'd be foolish to deny the audience a 100 percent reassuring wrap-up.

If Lucas had been merely 80 percent reassuring, he might have broken millions of young hearts, and he's obviously loathe to break a single one. "Jedi" couldn't end the " Star Wars " trilogy on a happier note, so I hope the movie going public will return the generosity and assure George Lucas that he's done it and can now move on to something different."

Writing in the Chicago Reader , Dave Fehr  compared the film unfavourably  -- and today quite ironically -- to Disney and to raiders of the Lost Ark, which he also seemed less than impressed by.

"With its feints at horror and pathos, the third Star Wars film (1983) is the most Disney-esque in its emotional outline, yet that outline is buried beneath an obnoxiously hyped-up pace (a la Raiders of the Lost Ark ) that reduces the emotions to rubble. There is hardly any point in discussing the direction of a picture like this, in which almost every shot has been predetermined by the requirements of the special effects, yet director Richard Marquand (Eye of the Needle) fluffs the two or three real opportunities he has, rendering the long-delayed character climaxes with a chilly indifference. Interestingly, the advent of sexuality in the Star Wars universe (with the revelation of Carrie Fisher's navel) is coupled with a resurgence of infantile imagery (with the swarms of teddy-bear Ewoks). If the trilogy has grown at all over its course, it's in terms of commercial calculation—even the confusions of the narrative seem deliberately planted to encourage repeat viewings."

Not a fan, but Nick Cramp of BBC Movies was as he  praised all aspects of the film , including the performances of the lead actors.

"" Return of the Jedi " (originally called " Revenge of the Jedi " before creator George Lucas decided that revenge was not Jedi-like) completes the initial Star Wars film trilogy.

The Rebel Alliance must destroy a new Death Star built by a resurgent Empire, while Luke Skywalker faces the evil lord Darth Vader. But first he must rescue his friend Han Solo from the clutches of vile gangster Jabba the Hutt. This film marks a return to the heroics of "Star Wars". The sombre, complex tone of "The Empire Strikes Back" is discarded in favour of a simpler, episodic approach. The action is aided by the stunning effects work of Lucas' ILM company. Set-pieces abound, the assault on Jabba's sail barge and the final attack on the Death Star are particularly noteworthy.

However, the episodic plot and abundant spectacle do not drown out the human interest. Such is the strength of the characters Lucas has created that their dilemmas remain centre stage. The conflict between Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader, which forms the core of the film, is particularly powerful.

Strong, albeit simply drawn characters are well realised by the actors, who all acquit themselves perfectly. The Emperor, when he finally makes his appearance, is memorably grotesque and menacing. Special praise must go to Darth Vader, voiced superbly by James Earl Jones; this character has the charisma of true villainy.

The " Star Wars " phenomenon has been seen as timeless modern myth-making; it has also been seen as the triumph of infantilism and a knockout blow to serious film-making. Whatever the verdict, "Return of the Jedi" is a fitting climax to the most successful space adventure of all time."

Writing in Variety on 18th May 1983 James Harwood was  not blown away  by the conclusion, feeling that the finale of the second trilogy lacked heart but noting that its success financially was assured.

"There is good news, bad news and no news about “ Return of the Jedi .” The good news is that George Lucas and Co. have perfected the technical magic to a point where almost anything and everything — no matter how bizarre — is believable. The bad news is the human dramatic dimensions have been sorely sacrificed. The no news is the picture will take in millions regardless of the pluses and minuses."

Over at the New York Times on 25th May 1983 Vincent Canby  laced his review with sarcasm  (and a neat allusion to the then-hit show Soap) as he asked a number of questions about the plot and the characters.

"Will Han Solo ever fly again or is he forever doomed to remain a wall decoration in the pleasure palace of Jabba the Hutt? Does Princess Leia do her own hair or does she pay someone to make it look that way? Who, or perhaps what, is Salacious Crumb? When will Luke Skywalker become a true Jedi knight? Where does Yoda do his shopping? Will Darth Vader sacrifice his only begotten son so that evil might triumph? And, speaking of Vader, when he takes off his mask, what is underneath? James Earl Jones? David Prowse? A cantaloupe?

"All but two of these questions - plus dozens more you never thought to ask - are answered in Return of the Jedi , the concluding film in George Lucas's phenomenally popular space-fantasy trilogy that began triumphantly with Star Wars (1977) but slowed down a good deal with The Empire Strikes Back (1980).

"The movie also introduces a number of new animated creatures, which are probably already in your corner toy store and will make a mint in subsidiary rights for Lucasfilm Ltd., the Star Wars parent company. The most attractive of these are some small, teddy-bear-like creatures called Ewoks, which serve the functions once left to friendly pygmies in old Tarzan movies.

“ Return of the Jedi doesn’t really end the trilogy as much as it brings it to a dead stop. The film is by far the dimmest of the lot. Let’s face it, Luke, the magic’s gone.”

Standing where we are in 2014, the magic most definitely has NOT gone, but to be fair back in 1983 that was effectively - as far as the public was concerned - the end of the road, at least for the foreseeable future.

A theatrical marquee displays showtimes for Return of the Jedi.

Legendary film critic Pauline Kael, writing in The New Yorker on 30th May 1983, had once described Empire as the most beautiful film of the year. But her appreciation for Empire failed to reach out to Jedi as she bemoaned a lack of character and noted film makers desires to tie-in their movies to video games. A criticism more relevant than ever in 2014, but back in the 8-bit days of the Atari in 1983 it seems a touch harsh.

“If a producer wants backing for a new project, there’d better be a video game in it. Producers are putting so much action and so little character or point into their movies that there’s nothing for a viewer to latch on to. The battle between good and evil, which is the theme of just about every big fantasy adventure film, has become a flabby excuse for a lot of dumb tricks and noise.”

Around the world media outlets commented on the film. Jimmy Summers over at Box Office saw Jedi as “An exciting, technically astounding wrap-up to the ‘Star Wars’ trilogy. The probability of success is about as definite as death and taxes.” while Steve White of The Worcester Telegram said “‘ Return of the Jedi ’ is a triumph of movie wizardry; a snappy, dazzling celluloid comic book, capturing our emotions between its magical pages and holding them within a prison of wonderment. It’s a virtual toy box of dreams and surprises for children and adults of all ages.”

Sheila Benson of the Los Angeles Times gave perhaps the most complimentary comment of them all when she stated that “With ‘ Jedi ’, George Lucas may have pulled off the first triple crown of motion pictures.” High praise indeed (and quite correct of course).

Scott Cain at The Atlanta Constitution made a less than complimentary comment regarding the music of John Williams, missing somewhat the nature of recurring themes both in the soundtrack to the films and the nature of Lucas' writing which purposefully laid down themes which play out not only through the three films but- over time - the prequel trilogy as well "John Williams’ music consists almost entirely of themes and variations on themes he composed for the two earlier movies. This, unfortunately, will be a complaint that many people will make against ‘ Return of the Jedi ’. They will feel that they have seen and heard it all before.”

Perhaps the most insightful comments come via Stephen Hunter writing in The Baltimore Sun as he identifies the backbone of what makes Star Wars work as a modern mythical tale.

“The ‘ Star Wars ’ films have a mystic allure. They are clearly designed to appeal to the best in all of us and to exemplify universally admirable virtues—courage, the strength to fight against evil, romance, belief. They are built around the notion of a magic force in the universe which might be God or might be gravity; this force, in turn, is serviced by a knights’ order that is almost a clergy. The entire cosmology is rent by a titanic conflict between good and evil.”

essay jedi reviews

Of course, there was to be a happy ending as Jedi would roll on to take $252,583,617 at the US box office on it's initial run (a lifetime North American gross of $309,306,177, making it the 41st most successful film in the States and adjusted for inflation the 15th with what would be in todays numbers a staggering $748,712,900 compared to Empire's adjusted figure of $781,517,900 and Star Wars $1,417,832,000.

It also took a glut of awards, winning a Special Achievement Oscar for Visual Effects, while at the Saturn Awards it took honours for Best Actor for Mark Hamill, Best Costumes, Best Make-Up, Best Science-Fiction Film, and Best Special Effects. BAFTA awarded it the Best Special Visual Effects award, it won a HUGO for Best Dramatic Presentation and perhaps most importantly it won Favorite Motion Picture at the People’s Choice Awards.

There's no getting away from it, more than either Star Wars or Empire before it, Return of the Jedi divided critical opinion. Ending the saga after the cliffhangar drama that was Empire was always going to be tough, and with the advent of superior visual effects the spectacle always threatened to overtake the story. Indeed, Jedi would turn out to be the pinnacle of optical visual effects, never challenged in the 8 years until ILM turned their efforts fully over to the digital domain. But there's no doubt that in the Star Wars galaxy, Jedi has had a HUGE effect, giving us a menagerie of characters which are among the most beloved in the saga, classic moments, THAT bikini, a classic soundtrack and our first true ending with the closure of the original trilogy. That it would return 14 years later in the Special Edition and be tinkered with once more for the Blu-ray release only shows the strength with which the film holds up today.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi - Review

Tour de force..

Star Wars: The Last Jedi Review

Author's Note: This is an advanced, spoiler-free review of Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

In Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) tells Rey (Daisy Ridley), “This is not going to go the way you think.” That line proves to be true for just about every plot thread, every scene, every moment in the entire movie. Writer/director Rian Johnson packs the eighth episode in the Skywalker saga with genuine surprises of all kinds, which all amount to a thrilling, emotional, and funny film that is easily the best Star Wars movie since The Empire Strikes Back.

J.J. Abrams’ The Force Awakens got dinged for borrowing too much from A New Hope, but recycling old material isn’t an issue in The Last Jedi. It’s evident that Johnson understands the criticisms about every preceding film and predicted the assumptions about this one (to the point where some dialogue sounds as if it was lifted right from fans’ mouths), and that he used that knowledge to absolutely shatter expectations. There are fan-pleasing moments, for sure, but nothing is included without a purpose. Johnson plays with all the toys Star Wars has to offer, and he’s not afraid to change – or break – a few along the way.

The story picks up right after the events of the Force Awakens, with the First Order setting out to conquer a Republic-less galaxy by destroying the Resistance (natch). Meanwhile, Rey tries her best to convince an ornery Luke to leave his secluded, Porg-infested island and rejoin the fight. The story wastes no time setting the stakes astronomically high, and things only get more dire from there. It’s by far the most tense and exciting Star Wars adventure, and surprisingly, it’s also the funniest.

Johnson manages to tell a deeply personal yet large-scale tale that gives every character a moment to shine. The film moves at a brisk pace, covering an impressive amount of ground while still finding time for slower, more methodical scenes, not to mention well-placed moments of levity. The first half is so exciting and involved that Johnson is able to hide the fact he’s setting up the truly stunning moments still to come. By the time The Last Jedi ends, the Star Wars universe feels like it’s been through an entire trilogy’s worth of revelations. That’s why it’s so satisfying to watch: it feels more like a complete story than your typical installment of Star Wars.

One of the major changes is that Hamill is no longer playing Luke as the archetypal hero – he’s now a conflicted, deeply damaged Jedi master. He rises to the occasion with his finest performance as Luke, using the timbre of his voice and the pain in his eyes to express Luke’s reluctance to confront his past, let alone help Rey mold her future. There’s a frankly brilliant sense of poetry to Luke’s story in this movie, with elements that harken all the way back to the start of his journey in beautiful fashion.

Ridley and Hamill play off each other well, expressing a strange mix of frustration and empathy for one another, resulting in something vastly more interesting than the expected master-student relationship. The big questions from The Force Awakens regarding Rey’s family are the same ones that drive her throughout The Last Jedi, and Ridley is utterly captivating as Rey uses her strengthening relationship with the Force to explore them. Her narrative isn’t unlike that of Kylo Ren, who is played with a tortured psyche and haunted demeanor by Adam Driver as he strives to please his own mentor, Supreme Leader Snoke (Andy Serkis). They’re both struggling with their parental figures and want to shape their destinies, and how the story addresses that proves to be the most memorable and undoubtedly polarizing part of the film. No one will ever say Johnson didn’t take any risks.

Elsewhere in the galaxy, even though the Resistance is in quite the pickle, its members can’t decide on the best course of action to combat the First Order. Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) is still the hotshot pilot you remember, but his brashness soon gets him into hot water with the leadership, General Organa (Carrie Fisher) and Vice Admiral Holdo (Laura Dern). Meanwhile, Finn (John Boyega) and Resistance maintenance worker Rose (Kelly Marie Tran) have their own plan to save the day which takes them to the casino city of Canto Bight, where people and aliens of all shapes and sizes live in excess. This new locale is overflowing with weird and wondrous alien designs, like a Mos Eisley cantina for the galaxy’s one-percenters, and it serves to demonstrate a different kind of evil than the militaristic First Order while also showing the disenfranchised people worth fighting a star war for. That’s also where we meet Benicio del Toro’s unscrupulous hacker character, DJ, who, with his small but effective part, makes a slimy yet profound impression by sharing a morally gray worldview that isn’t usually expressed in the black-and-white world of Star Wars.

Both of these storylines have their merits, but are also what cause The Last Jedi to lose a bit of its momentum in the middle. The Canto Bight setting provides some resonant material for Finn, who struggles with his position as a cog in the war machine; and Rose is a compelling new addition to the Star Wars family thanks to Tran’s energetic and determined characterization, but their subplot feels a bit unwieldy at times. Isaac and Dern have an electric chemistry as their characters butt heads, but that drama bogs down an already dense story. None of these elements are inherently bad, mind you, there’s just so much going on already that things can get a tad cumbersome. However, it is to Johnson’s credit that the movie is so powerful and engaging overall that it succeeds wildly anyway.

Fisher passed away last year after completing her work on The Last Jedi, leaving us with her final performance, which proves to be the best part of the Resistance scenes. She’s a wizened leader with the weight of the galaxy on her shoulders, having to deal with young upstarts like Poe who aren’t too dissimilar from her in her princess years. Yet for all of her responsibility, she exudes a compassionate warmth and isn’t above a bit of wry humor. Some of her lines have her ruminate on purpose and loss, lines that now evoke a special double meaning.

John Williams once again delivers a soul-stirring Star Wars score – a feat that must be second nature to him by now. Thundering arrangements turn skirmishes into epic battles, new compositions emphasize the sense of adventure, and old themes make appearances for a touch of nostalgia. There’s a reason George Lucas calls Williams’ music the “secret sauce” of Star Wars.

What’s most impressive about The Last Jedi is that Johnson managed to make an incredibly faithful Star Wars movie that embraces the franchise’s most beloved elements while also giving it a tone and style all his own. He’s brought a modernity to the film, from the glib and self-aware jokes right down to the way he chose to film it. Johnson takes Rey’s Force learnings as an opportunity to shoot scenes unlike anything we’ve seen before in a Star Wars entry, resulting in a gorgeous audio-visual treat in one scene and a trippy mind-bender in another. The space dogfights and ground battles borrow elements from real-world war movies to make them all the more harrowing, not unlike the Vietnam-inspired Rogue One.

The Verdict

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is the quintessential Star Wars movie. It embraces everything in the franchise that came before while taking big risks to push the story into new and unexpected places. While there are a few subplots that weigh it down in the middle, everything ultimately works toward delivering an absolutely stunning sequence of events that make its emotionally rich ending a possibility. It’s dramatic, it’s exciting, it’s heartfelt, it’s heartbreaking, and it’s funnier than any Star Wars movie has any right to be. It doesn’t answer every lingering fan question but it darn well delivers on the ones it chooses to address, ending things on a satisfying note even though there’s one more chapter in this trilogy. And on top of all that, the final scene bucks all Star Wars trends, yet it works because it’s reflective of what makes the saga as a whole so special.

Essay Jedi Review

There are thousands of online writing services from which students may choose when they are pressed for time or when they simply not able or motivated to complete a writing assignment that has been given them. When they turn to an online writing company for help, they often do now know who to judge quality and trustworthiness. It is important, then, that they do some research, but, often, there is not adequate time to do so. Fortunately, there are reviewers who have begun to evaluate these sites, in order to help students out. EssayJedii.com is the subject of this review, which will focus on both the benefits and the concerns/drawbacks related to quality, customer service, and overall business policies and practices.

Opening Comments

Essay Jedii features academic writing services that seem to be geared toward college and graduate school students. It offers a wide variety of writing genres, from basic essays to help with graduate projects, such as theses and dissertations. The following lists have been developed from Essay Jedii reviews that appear both on its site and on a number of other spots on the Internet.

Essay Jedii Benefits

  • The website is relatively “clean” without a lot of clutter to distract from the purpose of the service.
  • The company is very straightforward about how the process works. Customers complete the order form and submit it on the site. Writers scan through the orders and place bids on those they wish to fulfill. The customer reviews the bids and, if desired, speaks directly with those who have placed bids, before selecting a writer for the task. This process can be overridden, if the customer chooses for the company to automatically select a writer.
  • The customer is able to designate the desired degree of any potential writer
  • Some Essay Jedii ratings, indicate that the customer can negotiate on price with a writer, in order to lower costs a bit.
  • Customers appreciate the ability to have a personal account page which they may use to speak with their writers at all times during production.
  • The company has published policies on Privacy and Terms of Use. These policies are very straightforward.
  • Essay Jedii testimonials are published on the site for customer review.

Concerns/Potential Drawbacks

  • The company is very new, and its reputation has not been fully established.
  • There is some concern that there may not be a fully staffed administrative feature to address big issues and concerns
  • There is sparse information about the company itself, and there is no address of phone number for contact
  • Essay Jedii alternative fee-based options are expensive and are those things for which other services do not charge (e.g., a review and edit or a check for plagiarism)
  • EssayJedii.com prices are not standard, as is the case with many other services. Writer bids vary widely, and it is difficult to know what an appropriate price for the work that has been ordered really should be.

End Result Comments

As a new company, EssayJedii.com may have some “kinks” to work out as it continues in this business. Customers do want to know about the company itself and would definitely like to see some company-based guarantees regarding quality and recourse when there is dissatisfaction with a produced piece of writing. Leaving everything up to negotiations between the customer and writer can create some negative situations and the ultimate loss of customers. Lack of standard quality control measures also leads to suspicion on the part of potential clients.

It is also recommended that the company put in place some type of discount program in order to attract students whose budgets may be quite tight.

essayjedii reviews

Short overview

My EssayJedii review should leave you with mixed feelings because the company has an equal number of strengths and weaknesses. This is reflected in its overall rating. It uses a writers’ bidding system, letting customers make writer selections independently. That said, the origins and ownership of EssayJedii are murky. No address is indicated as part of the contact information, which makes me think it is based outside English-speaking countries. That’s what happens when services use ESL writers and are willing to disguise their base. There is virtually no refund policy. Once you make a payment, you can’t recuperate your money no matter what. So, think twice before placing your order.

  • Easy ordering process
  • Writers bidding system
  • Good range of services
  • No refund policy
  • Poorly designed website and low usability
  • Low-quality customer service

Essay Jedii Review of Website Interface

The website design looks fine, but its content and usability are far from perfect. The list of services customers normally get to see on the homepage is not easy to find. All that is offered is a bold statement that essayjedii.com provides high-quality paper writing services for research purposes. There is a drop-down menu with services.

While the layout looks simple and easy to navigate, the website suffers from a lack of content. Additionally, it looks like EssayJedii does not offer any revisions. Nor does it care to provide refunds should students be unsatisfied with the end products. You would need to create a personal account to access additional information. This is extremely frustrating, and it must be putting off hundreds of potential customers.

Is EssayJedii the best website to buy an essay ? Maybe not as per my EssayJedii.com review. Judging by copyright year, EssayJedii has been in business since 2017. As a relatively young company, it has a lot of ground to cover before it can start competing with successful rivals effectively. On a positive note, EssayJedii operated a bidding system. This means that once you place your order, writers can start bidding on it, letting you find and choose the best fit for your needs. You can also stay in touch with the selected author to provide additional instructions and request revisions. However, customer service does not look reliable.

essayjedii website

Types of Services Offered

EssayJedii reviews find it unusual for a customer-oriented online writing website not to include a detailed description of services upfront. I figured this out myself. For that, I had to open a drop-down menu of the order box on the homepage. This is not very handy.

Their services include high school, college, university, PhD papers, essays, admission essays, coursework, article reviews, book reviews, movie reviews, annotated bibliographies, presentations and speeches, case studies, business plans, research papers or proposals, theses, dissertations, term papers, and capstone projects. The range of subjects covered is impressive. It’s hard to think of academic disciplines not included in the spectrum of services.

EssayJedii does not offer any samples, so I cannot provide a review of the completed work. As per Essay Jedii reviews, that is a missed opportunity.

As a customer, you are on your own as soon as you place an order. It is unfair of EssayJedii to leave students to their own devices without offering clear policies on revisions or refunds. It depends on you and the writer to sort everything out. If no solution is found, your money will be lost. No payments you make to this provider are refundable. Honestly, I find it amazing how EssayJedii attracts clients looking for coursework help with such poor policies. Who would want to risk money without any chance of recuperating it if things go south?

Customer Support

Is EssayJedii good in terms of customer support? Email is the only mode of communication. There is a chat box, but it does not mean you can talk to agents directly. All it allows you to do is leave a message and email address and wait for someone to respond.

I tested the system by sending a message. It took EssayJedii two days before someone got back to me. This is unacceptable in the 21st century. No one should be expected to wait two days for a response to simple questions. No alternative means of communication were available to me. Rival companies add phone numbers and live chat boxes to facilitate effective and efficient communication. Some go so far as to designate special departments for grievances or disputes. You get none of that with EssayJedii.

My Experience and Paper Quality

Is EssayJedii reliable regarding quality? To find out, I placed an order for a three-page essay with a 7-day deadline. But first, I had to create my account to be able to get my order registered with a unique ID number. Once my order was through, writers started bidding. I got several offers. But there was no way for me to differentiate between them. How can you decide who is better when you know nothing about writers’ backgrounds and past performances?

Writer reviews and numbers of finished orders do not help because they can be easily made up. I do not think there are any real facts and figures behind those profile images. Anyway, I had to make some decisions, so I chose the one with the lowest price. With some additional instruction, we negotiated the total cost at $37.8. Not a bad deal, one would say.

What can I say about the end product? In a nutshell, there was no way I would submit it to my tutor without additional revising, editing, and proofreading. EssayJedii reviews corroborate my conclusion. The essay was not too bad, it definitely had a proper structure and style. It was also substantive. My request for revisions was ignored, however. So, I spent a few extra hours finalizing it.

essayjedii ordering process

Ordering Process

Ordering was not too onerous. Here is how it goes:

  • Find an intuitive order box in the top right corner of the website.
  • Enter order details and personal data.
  • Place an order.
  • The bidding process starts.
  • Pick a writer and await the completion of your order.

You can also pick your deadline and number of pages.

The range of paper types is impressively broad to include nearly all sorts of college assignments. Unfortunately, EssayJedii is less impressive when it comes to additional services. EssayJedii reviews bemoan the lack of extra features or free tools. Remember that payments are non-refundable, so once you accept your paper, there is no turning back.

essayjedii my experience

Pricing and Discounts

Pricing looks extremely competitive. $8.49 per page is a real bargain if you compare it with the competitors’ prices. EssayJedii really needs a price calculator, helping customers estimate the cost of papers based on various factors. $8.49 seems enticing, but we all know that the end price is always higher. Following my detailed EssayJedii review, the company uses a writers’ bidding system, which means you get offers from numerous authors, and their prices can range from cheap to exorbitant.

According to the best dissertation writing services review , top companies usually offer lots of discounts. However, with EssayJedii, there are no discounts on offer.

If you scroll down to the bottom of the homepage, you will see an intriguing ‘20% Off’ phrase in the bottom right corner. What is this? A discount for first-time users? Some kind of promotion? I tried customer support to find out, but it didn’t work.

essayjedii discount

Writer's Proficiency as per EssayJedii reviews

Writer proficiency is a matter of personal judgment with EssayJedii. Given that it operates a bidding system, you should expect anything from top-notch to mediocre quality from writers. You have no means to validate their credentials, qualifications, or previous work. When you get offers from various authors, there is no objective basis for decisions. Obviously, you do not want to go against the grain and pick a more expensive one, hoping for higher quality. If EssayJedii provided samples of past work, I would be in a better position to assess quality, but unfortunately, there are none. My experience shows that overall quality must be acceptable, but you must set aside a couple of hours to finalize the paper yourself.

Reviews of EssayJedii show there are no free revisions. This is a shame because most competitors allow clients a few rounds of free revisions upon receipt of ordered papers. All you can do is request them from your writer. But there is no guarantee you will get a response or a reaction. In my case, the paper quality was not too bad, but I still had several comments and requests for revision and editing, and my writer did not respond. So, all I could do was act on my own concerns.

EssayJedii could make up for this by providing free tools. For instance, if it were offering the best paraphrasing tool online , a lot of time could be saved. Customers could then use the tool to reword sections they are not happy with. Reviews of EssayJedii also show that many other reviewers and customers point to a lack of extra features and tools.

Loyalty Program, Offers, and Extra Services

As noted, EssayJedii offers no loyalty program, discounts, or a good range of extra services and features. There are some you can request when placing an order, but they look expensive, and you have no means to verify if it is worth it.

Online Reputation

Curiously, EssayJedii has no reviews on both SiteJabber and TrustPilot. This is inconvenient as internet users will have difficulty finding trustworthy information about this provider. However, it makes the need for my unbiased review more pressing.

I was able to find some details about this service on ScamFighter. It gives EssayJedii a rating of 2.5 out of a possible 5. A review of EssayJedii shows it is not the best choice regarding top custom essay writing services. Some customers seem satisfied, but there is a healthy degree of skepticism about the overall quality.

essayjedii scamfighter

Reviews also point to gaps in communication, poor customer support, and a slow response rate. However, you might get an experienced writer who can complete your paper to the best academic standards.

Social Media

My essayjedii.com reviews led me to their Facebook account, but the most recent post is dated back to 2014. With only 32 people following, it is hardly worth maintaining a presence.

essayjedii facebook

It’s not much different on Twitter either. The last Tweet is dated 2013, and as few as 3 people are following. EssayJedii is not active on YouTube or Instagram.

Is EssayJedii legit?

Is EssayJedii legit? I really doubt that. No information is provided about ownership.

Is EssayJedii safe?

It looks safe, but as soon as you make payment, it’s gone for good. No matter what happens afterwards, no payments are refundable.

Is EssayJedii reliable?

It really depends on the kind of writer you get via bidding. If you are lucky, you might get an experienced and honest writer.

Is EssayJedii a scam?

I don’t believe EssayJedii is a scam. It is not designed to steal your money. It can definitely rip you off, though.

essay jedi reviews

Searching for a helpful custom essay writing service, I came across Essay Jedii, which seemed beneficial and easy to cooperate with. However, these were only my illusions that were dispelled right after I placed an order.

Essayjedii.com: Company Analysis

Essayjedii.com is the essay writing service that claims to provide students with quality papers at competitive costs. Is the company worth attention? Check out the detailed review of its key features and specifications.

Advantages and Real Drawbacks

  • Fast communication via live chat
  • An opportunity to choose the writer to accomplish your task
  • Customers are charged extra fees
  • No plagiarism report is provided
  • Little information is presented

Overall Reputation

Although the platform is comparatively new on the market, there are many EssayJedii.com reviews already. The comments are controversial, as some users are satisfied with the quality of the assignments, while others are critical of every single stage of cooperation.

Essayjedii: Company Guarantees

Surfing the Essay Jedii website, you will find information about the highly qualified and experienced writers working on your assignments. However, a plethora of mistakes and inaccuracies in the delivered papers say the opposite.

Service Categories

Dealing with Essay Jedii, you may get any of your college assignments accomplished. As mentioned on the website, the writers will help you create:

  • Any type of the essay
  • Annotated bibliography
  • Article, book, or movie review
  • Dissertation and others

Process of Ordering

The process of paper ordering is quite easy, even though some of its stages require ultimate attention and concern. First of all, you need to place an order, specifying the details and requirements of the paper. Then, you will get numerous bids from writers so that you accept the one you like the most. Talk to the executor to make sure none of the order details will be skipped. Pay for the assignment and get it accomplished within the specified time. Finally, when the work is done, you may leave feedback about the writer.

Essay Jedii: Price Overview

As mentioned on the website main page, the cost of the essay starts at $8.49 per page. Nonetheless, you may be charged extra for additional fee-based services.

Quality of Uploaded Papers

Before writing a comprehensive EssayJedii.com review, I have tested all the features and services provided by the team. When I faced the first challenges, I got confused, thinking about the coincidence, but later they became the norm. To tell the truth, the discussion of the paper details was easy, but the result was difficult, difficult to accept. The essay I got was filled with plagiarism, grammar and punctuation mistakes, as well as data inaccuracies. After several reviews, the evident errors were eliminated, but it didn’t significantly improve the quality of the work.

Support for Students

There are two ways customers can potentially contact the representatives of the support team, using an email or live chat option. Sending an email, you may forget the question faster than you will get an answer while contacting the team through live chat seems to be a much more beneficial alternative.

Essayjedii Review: Extra Offers

Browsing the Essay Jedii website, I didn’t find any information about extra services or free options provided by the writers. At the same time, as claimed in numerous Essay Jedii reviews, you should be just fortunate to receive your ordinary text written and proofread within the specific time.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt Writes Essay Passionately Defending Luke Skywalker’s Controversial ‘The Last Jedi’ Arc

Joseph Gordon-Levitt has come to the rescue of his friend and collaborator Rian Johnson, who just happens to be the writer and director of “ Star Wars: The Last Jedi .” The actor was Johnson’s leading man in both “Brick” and “Looper” and had small cameo appearances in “The Brothers Bloom” and “The Last Jedi,” and now he’s penned an essay in which he passionately defends the decisions Johnson made for Luke Skywalker in the polarizing “Star Wars” sequel.

Gordon-Levitt’s essay is titled “A New Old Skywalker” and weighs in on Luke’s controversial story arc, which has been pinpointed as one of the reasons the film has received so much backlash. The Skywalker we meet in “The Last Jedi” is a Skywalker we’ve never experienced on film before. As Gordon-Levitt explains, “Luke was hopeful, an idealist, deeply driven to venture out into the galaxy, find his destiny, and do the right thing, no matter the cost. Now he’s apathetic, cynical even, hunkered down on an island and seemingly passionate about nothing but his own isolation.”

Related Stories ‘Flora and Son’ Trailer: Eve Hewson and Joseph Gordon-Levitt Lead John Carney’s Musical Romance Joseph Gordon-Levitt: A.I. Should Pay Out Residuals — and Not Just to Actors

Johnson completely subverts are notion of who Luke Skywalker is and what he stands for when we first meet him in “The Last Jedi,” which has caused numerous fans to be upset. But Gordon-Levitt praises his former director’s decision with the character, saying it would have been far too easy and safe to depict Luke like we’ve always seen him.

“A flawed main character is one of the main distinctions between a story with substance and a gratuitous spectacle,” Gordon-Levitt writes. “It’s often through a character overcoming their flaws that a movie can really say something. Yes, when the movie begins, Luke has grown cynical. He’s lost faith in what it means to be a Jedi. He’s let fear of the Dark Side of the Force corner him into isolation and inaction. But he needs to start there, so that he can overcome this grave deficit.”

Luke’s arc in “The Last Jedi” has been the center of much debate since the movie opened December 15. Even Mark Hamill admitted when he first read Johnson’s script that he didn’t recognize the character anymore and was a bit worried how the world would perceive his more bitter version of the iconic hero. Gordon-Levitt calls the decision a “provocative challenge” to “Star Wars” fans and praises a major studio for letting Johnson get away with it in an age where blockbusters have become mind-numbingly safe.

“That a big Hollywood studio would take such risks on such a big property — again, to present their central hero in a drastically different light than ever before, to unflinchingly deliver the ominous message that even the most pure-hearted idealists can struggle through darkness and doubt — these are not the kinds of decisions that get made when short-term profitability is prioritized above all else,” the actor argues. “These are risks taken in the interest of building a world that is not only good for selling popcorn and action figures this year, but that thrives in the long-run on a bed of literary substance and artistic dignity.”

“Star Wars: The Last Jedi” is now playing in theaters. Head over to Median to read Gordon-Levitt’s essay in its entirety.

First and foremost, this website is a paradise for all Star Wars admirers! I must admit that the design of the site is really cool and original. It is unlike any other site of custom writing I’ve ever seen. Everything is unusual, starting from laconic information concerning their service to Darth Vader with a pencil. You can look through the profiles of top writers, however, the information is rather strange – where have you ever seen a top writer with only one accomplished project?

However, I had no title to give no chances to this service – the Star Wars is my favorite movie since childhood and I’m a true fan of Jedi knights!

Services provided

The thing is, there are no organized lists of services provided at EssayJedi.com . Rules of the game at this service are really interesting because here you can order anything from article to PhD dissertation; you just have to find the writer who would be able to do such work for you. Honestly speaking, I would not recommend choosing this service for such important and voluminous assignments, because you have no guarantees of writers’ professionalism. However, here you can order essay or book review , as I did.

The situation with pricing is even more interesting than the working principles of the service. On the one hand, the lowest price is set and it starts from $7.5 per page and this is really cheap. On the other hand, there are no fixed prices at all because of the bidding –writers make bids to work for you and they decide how much you will have to pay for the paper.

Discounts and free features

There are no discounts or free features – you are free to choose the price you want. If you want to retrench, just select the writer who proposes the lowest price. However, it is foolhardily, because the cheapest writer is definitely not the best you can find. And the chances to get well-written paper in this case are minimal. Still here you pay only after you get the paper and that is really convenient.

Ordering process

When you place an order, you have to wait for biddings from writers. I looked through the samples of book reviews provided by several writers that seemed qualified and contacted with the best one. On the How It Works page it is clearly stated that you can watch writer typing your paper live – none of that. I had to wait for answers for several hours!

To my indescribable surprise, my writer met the stated deadline. However, the paper needed several revisions until I was satisfied with the quality of it. I must admit that my writer doesn’t deserve a title of Jedi writer – he is not that fast and professional.

The work I got

This service knocked seven bells out of me; however, I got the paper I needed. A cheapskate pays twice – the prices here are affordable, right, but the quality of papers is poor. Hopefully, my essay service review will help others.

As a consumption, EssayJedi.com deserves to have no less no more than 2,5 star rating.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi Review

Every (Major) Character in Star Wars: The Last Jedi

Here's every major character that we know of in Star Wars: The Last Jedi...

All the Major New Aliens in the Modern Star Wars Movies

Here are all the major Star Wars aliens introduced on the big screen since The Force Awakens.

10 books to add to your reading list in April

montage of 10 book covers

Critic Bethanne Patrick recommends 10 promising titles, fiction and nonfiction, to consider for your April reading list.

April’s book releases cover some difficult topics, including Salman Rushdie discussing his 2022 maiming, Leigh Bardugo’s fiction about the dark arts and Ada Limón’s poetry anthology about our fragile world. However, like April, there is also sunshine: Leif Enger’s wild Great Lakes love story, Helen Tworkov’s beautiful memoir of Buddhism and a collection of the inimitable Maggie Nelson’s essays. Happy reading, happy spring!

I Cheerfully Refuse: A Novel By Leif Enger Grove Press: 336 pages, $28 (April 2)

Cover of "I Cheerfully Refuse"

An unusual and meaningful surprise awaits readers of Enger’s latest, which takes place largely on Lake Superior, as a man named Rainy tries to reunite with his beloved wife, Lark. While the world around this couple, a dystopian near-future American where billionaires control everything, could not be bleaker, the author’s retelling of the myth of Orpheus (who went to the underworld to rescue his wife) contains the authentic hope of a born optimist.

The Familiar: A Novel By Leigh Bardugo Flatiron Books: 400 pages, $30 (April 9)

Cover of "The Familiar"

Bardugo departs from novels of dark academia in a standalone to make the hairs on your neck stand up, set in 16th century Spain. A hidden Sephardic Jew and scullery maid named Luzia Cotado matches wits with fellow servant Guillén Santángel. Luzia discovers a secret of Guillén’s, but she’s already fallen in love with him. And because he knows hers, too, they might both avoid the Spanish Inquisition. It’s a gorgeous tale of enchantments both supernatural and earthly.

The Sleepwalkers: A Novel By Scarlett Thomas Simon & Schuster: 304 pages, $28 (April 9)

Cover of "The Sleepwalkers"

A couple honeymoons at a Greek resort. What could go wrong? In Thomas’ hands, plenty – especially as the author has never written a comfortable story; her books, from “PopCo ” to “Oligarchy,” crackle with unreliable characters, as well as big philosophical ideas. In this case, the new marriage’s breakdown is chronicled through letters between the spouses, and sometimes bits of ephemera, that ultimately untangle a dark mystery relating to the title.

The Garden: A Novel By Clare Beams Doubleday: 304 pages, $28 (April 10)

Cover of "The Garden"

Few novels of literary fiction are written as well as “The Garden,” let alone given its sadly relevant retro setting, a 1940s country-estate obstetrical program. Irene Willard walks through its gates having endured five miscarriages; pregnant again, she and her war-veteran husband George desperately hope for a live birth. But as Irene discovers more about the woman who controls all here, Dr. Bishop, she fears carrying to term as much as she once feared pregnancy loss.

Reboot: A Novel By Justin Taylor Pantheon: 304 pages, $28 (April 23)

Cover of "Reboot"

David Crader, former teen TV heartthrob, just wants to reboot his career when his old show “Rev Beach” has a moment. His life has devolved through substance abuse, divorce and underemployment. But when he and colleagues launch a remake, devolution continues: The protagonist’s struggles are mirrored by climate-change issues, from flooding to wildfires. Despite that darkness, Taylor’s gift for satire might make this a must-read for 2024 beach bags.

You Are Here: Poetry in the Natural World By Ada Limón (Editor) Milkweed Editions: 176 pages, $25 (April 2)

Cover of "You Are Here"

A wondrous artist herself, Limón is currently poet laureate of the United States, and this anthology is part of her signature project, “You Are Here,” which will also feature poetry as public art in seven national parks. Released in conjunction with the Library of Congress, the collection features 50 previously unpublished poems by luminaries including Jericho Brown, Joy Harjo, Carl Phillips and Diane Seuss, each focusing on a piece of regional landscape.

Like Love: Essays and Conversations By Maggie Nelson Graywolf Press: 336 pages, $32 (April 2)

Cover of "Like Love"

While all of the pieces in Nelson’s new book have previously been published elsewhere, they’re made fresh here both through being collected and through their chronological placement. Readers can practically watch Nelson’s incisive mind growing and changing as she speaks with colleagues such as Hilton Als and Judith Butler, or as she writes about queerness, motherhood, violence, the lyrics of Prince and the devastating loss of a friend.

Knife: Meditations After an Attempted Murder By Salman Rushdie Random House: 204 pages, $28 (April 16)

Cover of "Knife"

On Aug. 12, 2022, the author Salman Rushdie was speaking at upstate New York’s Chautauqua festival when a man rushed the stage and attempted to murder him. Rushdie, a target of Iranian religious leaders since 1989, was permanently injured. In this book, he shares his experience for the first time, having said that this was essential for him to write. In this way, he answers violence with art, once again reminding us all that freedom of expression must be protected.

Lotus Girl: My Life at the Crossroads of Buddhism and America By Helen Tworkov St. Martin’s Essentials: 336 pages, $29 (April 16)

Cover of "Lotus Girl"

Dworkov, founder of the magazine Tricycle, chronicles her move from a 1960s young-adult interest in Buddhism to travels through Asia and deep study in the United States of the different strands that follow the Buddha’s teachings. Tworkov mentions luminaries such as the artist Richard Serra, the composer Charles Mingus and the Dalai Lama, but she’s not name dropping. Instead, she’s strewing fragrant petals from her singular path to mindfulness that may help us find ours.

The Demon of Unrest: A Saga of Hubris, Heartbreak, and Heroism at the Dawn of the Civil War By Erik Larson Crown: 592 pages, $35 (April 30)

Cover of "The Demon of Unrest"

Even diehard Civil War aficionados will learn from Larson’s look at the six months between Lincoln’s 1860 election and the surrender of Union troops under Maj. Robert Anderson at Charleston’s Ft. Sumter. Larson details Anderson’s secret Christmas redeployment and explores this individual’s contradictions as a former slave owner who loyally follows Lincoln’s orders. The author also shares first-person perspective from the famous diaries of the upper-class Southerner Mary Chesnut. All together, the book provides a riveting reexamination of a nation in tumult.

A.I.-Generated Garbage Is Polluting Our Culture

A colorful illustration of a series of blue figures lined up on a bright pink floor with a red background. The farthest-left figure is that of a robot; every subsequent figure is slightly more mutated until the final figure at the right is strangely disfigured.

By Erik Hoel

Mr. Hoel is a neuroscientist and novelist and the author of The Intrinsic Perspective newsletter.

Increasingly, mounds of synthetic A.I.-generated outputs drift across our feeds and our searches. The stakes go far beyond what’s on our screens. The entire culture is becoming affected by A.I.’s runoff, an insidious creep into our most important institutions.

Consider science. Right after the blockbuster release of GPT-4, the latest artificial intelligence model from OpenAI and one of the most advanced in existence, the language of scientific research began to mutate. Especially within the field of A.I. itself.

essay jedi reviews

Adjectives associated with A.I.-generated text have increased in peer reviews of scientific papers about A.I.

Frequency of adjectives per one million words

Commendable

essay jedi reviews

A study published this month examined scientists’ peer reviews — researchers’ official pronouncements on others’ work that form the bedrock of scientific progress — across a number of high-profile and prestigious scientific conferences studying A.I. At one such conference, those peer reviews used the word “meticulous” more than 34 times as often as reviews did the previous year. Use of “commendable” was around 10 times as frequent, and “intricate,” 11 times. Other major conferences showed similar patterns.

Such phrasings are, of course, some of the favorite buzzwords of modern large language models like ChatGPT. In other words, significant numbers of researchers at A.I. conferences were caught handing their peer review of others’ work over to A.I. — or, at minimum, writing them with lots of A.I. assistance. And the closer to the deadline the submitted reviews were received, the more A.I. usage was found in them.

If this makes you uncomfortable — especially given A.I.’s current unreliability — or if you think that maybe it shouldn’t be A.I.s reviewing science but the scientists themselves, those feelings highlight the paradox at the core of this technology: It’s unclear what the ethical line is between scam and regular usage. Some A.I.-generated scams are easy to identify, like the medical journal paper featuring a cartoon rat sporting enormous genitalia. Many others are more insidious, like the mislabeled and hallucinated regulatory pathway described in that same paper — a paper that was peer reviewed as well (perhaps, one might speculate, by another A.I.?).

What about when A.I. is used in one of its intended ways — to assist with writing? Recently, there was an uproar when it became obvious that simple searches of scientific databases returned phrases like “As an A.I. language model” in places where authors relying on A.I. had forgotten to cover their tracks. If the same authors had simply deleted those accidental watermarks, would their use of A.I. to write their papers have been fine?

What’s going on in science is a microcosm of a much bigger problem. Post on social media? Any viral post on X now almost certainly includes A.I.-generated replies, from summaries of the original post to reactions written in ChatGPT’s bland Wikipedia-voice, all to farm for follows. Instagram is filling up with A.I.-generated models, Spotify with A.I.-generated songs. Publish a book? Soon after, on Amazon there will often appear A.I.-generated “workbooks” for sale that supposedly accompany your book (which are incorrect in their content; I know because this happened to me). Top Google search results are now often A.I.-generated images or articles. Major media outlets like Sports Illustrated have been creating A.I.-generated articles attributed to equally fake author profiles. Marketers who sell search engine optimization methods openly brag about using A.I. to create thousands of spammed articles to steal traffic from competitors.

Then there is the growing use of generative A.I. to scale the creation of cheap synthetic videos for children on YouTube. Some example outputs are Lovecraftian horrors, like music videos about parrots in which the birds have eyes within eyes, beaks within beaks, morphing unfathomably while singing in an artificial voice, “The parrot in the tree says hello, hello!” The narratives make no sense, characters appear and disappear randomly, and basic facts like the names of shapes are wrong. After I identified a number of such suspicious channels on my newsletter, The Intrinsic Perspective, Wired found evidence of generative A.I. use in the production pipelines of some accounts with hundreds of thousands or even millions of subscribers.

As a neuroscientist, this worries me. Isn’t it possible that human culture contains within it cognitive micronutrients — things like cohesive sentences, narrations and character continuity — that developing brains need? Einstein supposedly said : “If you want your children to be intelligent, read them fairy tales. If you want them to be very intelligent, read them more fairy tales.” But what happens when a toddler is consuming mostly A.I.-generated dream-slop? We find ourselves in the midst of a vast developmental experiment.

There’s so much synthetic garbage on the internet now that A.I. companies and researchers are themselves worried, not about the health of the culture, but about what’s going to happen with their models. As A.I. capabilities ramped up in 2022, I wrote on the risk of culture’s becoming so inundated with A.I. creations that when future A.I.s are trained, the previous A.I. output will leak into the training set, leading to a future of copies of copies of copies, as content became ever more stereotyped and predictable. In 2023 researchers introduced a technical term for how this risk affected A.I. training: model collapse . In a way, we and these companies are in the same boat, paddling through the same sludge streaming into our cultural ocean.

With that unpleasant analogy in mind, it’s worth looking to what is arguably the clearest historical analogy for our current situation: the environmental movement and climate change. For just as companies and individuals were driven to pollute by the inexorable economics of it, so, too, is A.I.’s cultural pollution driven by a rational decision to fill the internet’s voracious appetite for content as cheaply as possible. While environmental problems are nowhere near solved, there has been undeniable progress that has kept our cities mostly free of smog and our lakes mostly free of sewage. How?

Before any specific policy solution was the acknowledgment that environmental pollution was a problem in need of outside legislation. Influential to this view was a perspective developed in 1968 by Garrett Hardin, a biologist and ecologist. Dr. Hardin emphasized that the problem of pollution was driven by people acting in their own interest, and that therefore “we are locked into a system of ‘fouling our own nest,’ so long as we behave only as independent, rational, free-enterprisers.” He summed up the problem as a “tragedy of the commons.” This framing was instrumental for the environmental movement, which would come to rely on government regulation to do what companies alone could or would not.

Once again we find ourselves enacting a tragedy of the commons: short-term economic self-interest encourages using cheap A.I. content to maximize clicks and views, which in turn pollutes our culture and even weakens our grasp on reality. And so far, major A.I. companies are refusing to pursue advanced ways to identify A.I.’s handiwork — which they could do by adding subtle statistical patterns hidden in word use or in the pixels of images.

A common justification for inaction is that human editors can always fiddle around with whatever patterns are used if they know enough. Yet many of the issues we’re experiencing are not caused by motivated and technically skilled malicious actors; they’re caused mostly by regular users’ not adhering to a line of ethical use so fine as to be nigh nonexistent. Most would be uninterested in advanced countermeasures to statistical patterns enforced into outputs that should, ideally, mark them as A.I.-generated.

That’s why the independent researchers were able to detect A.I. outputs in the peer review system with surprisingly high accuracy: They actually tried. Similarly, right now teachers across the nation have created home-brewed output-side detection methods , like adding hidden requests for patterns of word use to essay prompts that appear only when copied and pasted.

In particular, A.I. companies appear opposed to any patterns baked into their output that can improve A.I.-detection efforts to reasonable levels, perhaps because they fear that enforcing such patterns might interfere with the model’s performance by constraining its outputs too much — although there is no current evidence this is a risk. Despite public pledges to develop more advanced watermarking, it’s increasingly clear that the companies are dragging their feet because it goes against the A.I. industry’s bottom line to have detectable products.

To deal with this corporate refusal to act we need the equivalent of a Clean Air Act: a Clean Internet Act. Perhaps the simplest solution would be to legislatively force advanced watermarking intrinsic to generated outputs, like patterns not easily removable. Just as the 20th century required extensive interventions to protect the shared environment, the 21st century is going to require extensive interventions to protect a different, but equally critical, common resource, one we haven’t noticed up until now since it was never under threat: our shared human culture.
