Essay on Winter Vacation in 150 Words

‘My winter vacation started right after Christmas, which was a two-week long vacation. Winter Vacation is my favourite time of the year, as we go New Year shopping, plan a trip to a hill station, and enjoy feasts like homemade cakes, cookies, pastries sweets, etc. On this winter vacation, I went to the city market to buy winter clothes with my parents. My father bought a denim jeans and a dungarees jacket for me, as were planning a trip to Mussoorie, the famous hill station.

Before me and my family left for our winter vacation trip, I completed all my winter homework and school assignments, so that I don’t have to worry about them after returning from our vacation. I took my brother’s help with mathematics homework and completed the remaining homework myself.

After that, we went on a 4-day family trip to Mussoorie, where we had quality time and played a lot. We were lucky enough to witness snowfall and my brother made a large snowman and snowballs and played for hours. Later, we went back to the hotel, where we had our tasty lunch and a bonfire. This was my this year’s winter vacation, which was full of excitement and surprises.’

‘Winter and summer vacations are my favourite time of the year, as we are free from academic pressure and don’t have to worry about school for the next couple of weeks. This year, my winter vacation started with an exciting activity, as I attended a wedding with my family in a different city. It was a short un-planned family trip where we had a lot of fun. Me and sister were excited to dine out at a highway restaurant, which was one of the memorable moments of my winter vacation. On our way to the wedding, I and my sister requested our father to stop at a highway restaurant, as were hungry.

Me and my sister ate a pizza and ice cream. After finishing our food, we were back on our way to the wedding. We greeted all our relatives and some of them gave us gifts. After returning from the wedding, I and my sister wanted to work on extracurricular activities, so our father enrolled us in dance classes. For the next 10 days, we were continuously working on our dancing skills, which was physically exhausting but interesting. As soon as we hit the dance floor, all we could do was wave our hands in the air and vibe with the music.

Another fun activity I did during this winter vacation was helping my mother with household chores. Our family has a custom of making Gajar ka Halwa every winter. I wanted to learn from my mother how it is prepared and the ingredients she uses to make it. Gajar ka halwa is one of my favourite sweets. Eating Gajar ka Halwa on a chilled January morning is one of my loving memories. I wish I could enjoy I little more of those family moments, where there is no school pressure, just fun and love. Now, I will plan for next year’s winter vacations, where me and my family can have a great time together.’

Many of us enjoy winter. Since it's my favourite season, I eagerly anticipate its arrival. The winter getaways offered during this season increase my enjoyment of winter. Since the winter break was so brief, my family had no travel plans. I adore spending my holiday at home. We can sleep in until the wee hours of the morning during holidays. We also like to eat a variety of hot wintertime foods.

Activities For Winter Vacation

Developing a new hobby | The youngster can plan to master new skills. Taekwondo, drawing, singing, picking up a musical instrument, taking a dancing class, or any other activity could qualify. Whatever you decide to do, make sure to understand it fully!

Do something that will change your life | During the break, insist that your child visit a nursing home or a school for people with disabilities. Let them go there and discover stuff. Your little child will ask you many questions. But do respond to each patient. Let's raise some extremely decent little people!

Go all out in your city | Learn about the city's must-see locations. Could you list everything? Make an effort to get there daily. Know the history and culture in your town.

Students usually await the winter vacations as it indulges them in a lot of fun stuff during the break. Although it is a time of holiday and the mood is relaxing, it is important to not skip studying during this time period.

My Winter Vacation

I make many plans for these vacations and make the most of them. Christmas, one of my favourite holidays, marks the traditional start of our winter vacations. I, therefore, begin my vacations by shopping for Christmas. My mother and I go to the neighbourhood markets to purchase ornaments and festive lights for my Christmas tree. My brother and I decorate the Christmas tree and enjoy seeing it light up.

We visit our cousins during the holidays so we can spend a few days together. I enjoy spending time with my cousins. Together, we had a terrific time. My mother also ensures that we study for at least two hours each day to prepare for the upcoming examinations.

New Year's also falls during the winter break. We are having a little gathering and inviting our close friends and family. Overall, winter break is a time for gatherings with friends, family, and relatives and many festivities. I merely adore it.

I want to go back there every winter vacation because it has become a permanent memory in my head. I liked being around my uncle's kids. Even now, the memory of the place and the flavour of the cuisine still makes me happy.

Because I adore this time of year, I eagerly anticipate this vacation every year . Furthermore, I am overjoyed that during the holidays, I can eat a variety of foods prepared by my mother and served hot.

Exam Preparation:

I needed to study for my final exam, which is coming up soon. That’s why I established a study routine and brought a few books with me. That routine helped me finish the syllabus, and I was mostly successful in sticking to the routine during the vacation. My mother deserves full credit. She was very strict about my homework. However, I also thought to take a break for a few days and therefore tried to complete most of the syllabus in the early days of my vacation.

We planned a trip

We had planned to spend some days at our uncle’s house during my winter vacation. Because my uncle lives in a small village in Uttrakhand, this was a very special journey for me . I’d heard that people visit mountainous areas in the winter to enjoy the snowfall . They also enjoy sports such as cycling, ice hockey, and skating. My uncle’s house was in a small village, but I was glad that I would be able to see the beauty of winters in the mountains that I had read about in books.

So here we go, my father purchased the tickets earlier because the chances of getting confirmed seats were decreasing. On the scheduled date, we began packing and headed to the station to board our train. It took us 13 hours to get to Uttrakhand from where we were . I was very excited to get there and see the undulating beauty. We finally arrived, and my uncle was waiting for us. I was overjoyed to see that place, which appeared to be a mini-paradise for someone like me who lived in the plains.

We made it to the village and then home. My uncle’s house wasn’t particularly large, but I adored it. I brought my cousin brothers and sister with me , making a total of five children. This was going to be the most interesting vacation for me. My aunt cooked the food over an open fire. We sat around the fire, enjoying its warmth. The food there tasted delicious as if I had never tasted anything like it before.

Explored the mountains:

We made plans to explore the surrounding areas in the morning. The pleasant weather and views of snow-capped mountain peaks all around made it a charming location. I spent a lot of time walking and admiring nature’s ardent beauty. There was very little pollution in the air over there. I had also seen snow-covered mountains and thoroughly enjoyed the snowfall. It was the best location for taking beautiful pictures, so we took several of my uncle’s family together.

The next day, we planned to visit various temples in the valley. It was incredible that such a small valley had so many temples. I also noticed that the people in that area were very friendly. A bonfire was lit in the verandah area of the house during the evening , and we used to sit around it and play games. Only in the evening would the dinner preparations begin. People used to sleep and wake up early in the morning because it was a village. We returned after three days. Despite the fact that the trip was short, it allowed me to refresh my mind and focus more on my studies.

It became an unmistakable memory in my mind, and I wish to return every winter vacation. I enjoyed spending time with my uncle’s children . Even today, the thought of the beauty of that place and the taste of the food served makes me happy on the inside.

My uncle lives in a small village of Uttrakhand as therefore it was a very special journey for me.

On the expected date we started packing and left for the station to board our train. It took a total of 13 hours from our place to reach Uttrakhand. I was very curious to reach that place and observe the undulating beauty. Finally, we arrived and my uncle was there to receive us. I was very happy to see that place that was appearing like a mini paradise for a person like me living in the plains.

We arrived in the village and finally home. My uncle’s place was not very big but I loved that place very much. I got the company of my cousin brothers and sister over there and we were a total of five children. This vacation was going to be the most interesting one for me. The food was prepared there on fire by my aunt. We sat around the fire and enjoyed the warmth of it. The taste of food there was delicious as if I never have tasted this type of food earlier in my life.

The Beauty of the Place – We made plans for visiting the nearby areas in the morning. The pleasant weather conditions, view of snow-clad mountainous peaks all around made it an adorable place. I spent a lot of time walking and viewing the earnest beauty of nature. The atmosphere over there was very clean and least polluted. I also had seen snow-covered mountains and enjoyed the snowfall. It was the best destination for clicking beautiful pictures and therefore we clicked several pictures of my and uncles family together.

The next day we had a plan to visit different temples in the valley. It was astonishing that a small valley had so many temples there. I also noticed that people of that region were very good-natured. During the evening in the verandah area of the house, a bonfire was lit and we used to sit around the bonfire and play games. The preparation for the dinner would begin there in the evening only. Since it was a village so people used to sleep early and wake up early in the morning.

We stayed there for a week and every day we had plans to visit the beauty of areas nearby the village. We went to different places and clicked our beautiful pictures as a memory. I could not realize how the days passed so quickly and now it was time to get back home. I returned home with a sad heart but was satisfied with the thought that I had a great time during my last winter vacation.

People during the winter vacation make plans to visit these places with their family and friends to enjoy the beauty of winters and snowfalls. There are also many games that are played in the making of snowballs and snowman, ice skating, ice hockey, etc. These things are enjoyed by people worldwide. Many of us are eagerly waiting for the arrival of winters to enjoy these amazing things in winters.

I also wish to indulge in some of my favourite activities during my winter vacations. I have already booked two classes a week for pottery. I will be going to the classes with my sister. I am also planning to go for evening walk regularly during my vacations. I love the weather during the winter evenings. A stroll in the park during this time is simply refreshing. New Year celebrations are all the more special. This is because we are either invited to some friends’ or relatives’ place or we host a party. It is time to meet our family friends and cousins. I enjoy the good food and good company on this day.

Family Trip

We also plan a family trip to a hill station during winter vacations. If we are lucky enough we get to witness snow fall on such trips. It is usually a short trip of two-three days. Most of the times, we book the tickets almost a month in advance. We are all excited about the trip and start packing our stuff days before the same.

My father plans everything in advance to ensure a smooth trip. The hotel booking is done, sight-seeing list is prepared and the budget for everything is set. We mostly travel by train and it is fun. Last year, we travelled to Shimla during the winter vacations. It was a three day trip.

The mall road was the main attraction during this trip. It was covered with snow and we just love walking on it. Our hotel was near the mall road and we spent our mornings and evenings on the road. We enjoyed the weather, played with the snow and had piping hot momos as we sat on the benches placed on the mall road.

There was a Tibetan market near-by. I and my mother went shopping to the market. I just loved the variety of winter clothing items available there. I bought jackets and sweatshirts. I also bought a pair of boots and some accessories. My mother bought a shawl for herself and a lot of other stuff for the entire family. We also went for site seeing to other places. The best part of the trip was the snowfall that we witnessed on the last day of our trip. It added to the overall experience and made the trip completely worth it.

A Strict Routine

Though, we are in a holiday mood throughout the winter vacations and enjoy them to the fullest, our mother makes sure that we do not skip studying. She prepares a schedule to ensure that we make the most of the time we have to prepare for the final exams and have fun at the same time.

The schedule includes two hours of study in the morning and an hour during late afternoon. She also makes sure we wake up early and go for walk or cycling. We are free to choose what we want to do during the rest of the day. However, we can watch TV only for two hours a day.

I just love winter vacations. They have given me some wonderful memories to cherish for a lifetime. These vacations are truly full of fun, frolic and warmth.

So the Northern hemisphere receives little sunrise and grows cold. During that time winter arrives on the earth. Simultaneously summer arrives in the Southern hemisphere of the earth.

Winter is associated with harsh and tough weather conditions. It is terrific to easily get accustomed to the winter season. Excessive snowfall takes place in the mountains and hilly regions and the temperature falls below the freezing point. Even on plain lands like Kolkata, the winter is quite sickening. Continuous snowfall and drizzle cause landslides in hilly regions. Winters are often unfavourable for tourism in hilly regions. However coastal places can be beautiful.

The most important characteristic of winter is many animals hibernate. Birds from the end of autumn start migrating toward warmer places. Insects also gather food and hibernate during this time. Yet this is a festive season for Christmas and New year. The whole world rejoices during this time. Cakes, sweets, and gifts are shared with people. Even in the face of severe disturbances, people still get their own opportunities to celebrate the winter season.

Earth has its own ways of creating life forms and nonliving creatures. It flows in its own rhythm and is a cycle that controls the birth and death of even the smallest of all beings. The cycle of seasons falls into the natural flow where one season automatically accompanies the other. Summer, winter, spring, and autumn are the four major seasons on earth. They create a chain or system where the end of the death of a year happens through winter and rebirth takes place through spring.

Winter is a symbol of the dead and old. The trees are bare without any leaves, the plants and flowers do not bloom, and animals and insects hibernate while birds leave their nests and migrate to warmer continents. The environment becomes white with snow and fog and human beings prefer to reside within their houses. Winter is essentially the death of life on earth.

From a geographical point of view, winter can be best understood through the mountainous and hilly regions. The altitude of those places causes extreme cold temperatures which are unbearable. Snowfall, landslides, drizzles, and snowstorms are common weather conditions in these regions. Many human lives get at stake due to this harsh weather. Thus winter is not at all romantic to enjoy with hot tea. Even on plain lands like Kolkata winter below 10 degrees Celsius becomes quite unbearable. Only the southern part of India which is the coast enjoys pleasurable weather conditions.

The winter season, however, is not entirely a dangerous situation. People honestly wait for this time so that the old year can end and the New year can arrive with new hopes and happiness. Winter in the seasonal cycle marks the end of all that is bad and unrequired. The two biggest celebrations of the winter season are Christmas and New year.

The entire world gets into the mood of vacation with the start of Christmas. Jesus, the saviour of the world was born during this harsh weather as if to give the world warmth of his virtue. People bake cakes, prepare sweets, and share goodwill and gifts with others.

While the year ends in rebirth, in Bengal the arrival of winter is celebrated through the worship of nature and its fruits. Poush Parbon is famous in different parts of Bengal where the women prepare several delicacies of sweets such as assorted pitha and payesh. Although the winter is a moment of cold and sickness the festivals make it full of life. It is one of the reasons why people await winter.

Sorry that I haven’t been in touch for a while. I hope you had great winter holidays. As for me, I spent almost all of my winter holidays at home. Only once I went out with my friends to hang out together.

As for New Year celebration, it wasn’t very special this year. I spent it with my family at home where we had festive dinner with a lot of delicious dishes. On the eve of the celebration we decorated our Christmas tree all together. I also decorated my room with garlands and lights. We have a family tradition to exchange gifts on New Year’s Eve. My brother and I always look forward to our presents. I got a bottle of perfume with pleasant aroma this year.

You know that Christmas is celebrated on the seventh of January in Ukraine. We visited my granny on Christmas Eve and had traditional Christmas dinner consisting of twelve dishes of Ukrainian cuisine .

I enjoyed relaxing, watching films and reading books. I read a really interesting book “Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children”. I recommend this book to everyone who is interested in fantasy and detective stories. The book is worth reading.

It was a great surprise to have real winter weather with snow and frost. I wish we had had such weather on Christmas holidays. A lot of children went sledding, skiing and tobogganing. My brother was so excited but I don’t like such activities that’s why I just enjoyed the amazing views of winter fairytale from my window.

Time flew by very quickly and the winter holidays are over. The second semester has already started and it means that school keeps me very busy again.

Along with many good sides, there are a few disadvantages too of this season. A huge number of people are poor and homeless in our country. They can’t afford proper clothes, food, and shelter in the time of too cold.

That’s why they have to face different diseases at that time. The farmers can’t work and they can’t maintain their family. It is very difficult to work in that type of cold environment. Most of the day labor faces a huge work problem.

There are many diseases also seen in this season. Because of the cold nature, most of the plants die at that time. You will see all the old leaves are falling from the tree.

This time, in the winters, our small family planned for a holiday in the hills of Darjeeling. This was a much-needed break for the members of this family to remain quite busy in their daily scheduled life. They remain occupied in the strictly disciplined life of either work or study. My little sister and I study in grades 8 and 4, respectively, my father is a deputy manager in his reputed company, and my mother is a working lady and also a housewife. We started our journey on the 1st of December, 2019. On the way, we played a variety of games. The view over the hills was quite pleasant to watch. When we were on the top of the summits, we looked down at our town, which seemed like a toy town; how small that was from the top!

We clicked pretty snaps of the places, clicked pictures of us, of the local residents there, after which we went to a famous restaurant to eat our afternoon meal. We had the most delightful dumplings and noodles, which were cooked and served to us when still on steam.

As dusk dawned on us, the jungles over the hills seemed to tell us another story of spirits and supernaturals. My sister and I were quite fantasized about this view. We preferred to keep our eyes shut till we reached our destination. It was half-past 8 when we reached the hotel where we would spend the night. The hotel staff was kind people who welcomed us with great warmth. We freshened up and went downstairs to watch their cultural program. The tribes danced to the music of one of their traditional songs, which was quite amazing for us to watch. After this, dinner was served. The dinner was quite rich and they served us in a sophisticated manner. After the tiring day, we decided to call it off and went to sleep.

The next day, we went hiking in the mountains. When we reached the peak of the mountains, it was a very delightful view. We decided to camp for the rest of the day there in the hills. The scenario and being on the lap of nature were quite peaceful and serene.

After the trip, we came down to our town and normalized our lives.

This trip had ushered a sense of great peace and calmness in my mind, which was to be instilled. The memories of the trip were to remain fresh in my mind like the fresh droplets on the leaves.

Winter vacation is a very short holiday for all of us but it is important for all. I love this weather very much so I eagerly wait for this winter season. Apart from this, it is a matter of happiness for me that in this winter season, I and my family get to eat different types of hot food prepared by my mother. Last year we all had planned to go to our uncle's place. My uncle lives in a small village in Uttarakhand on the mountains, so this trip was very special for me.

I often hear that people go to hilly areas during winters to enjoy snowfall. That's why I was very eager to go to my uncle's place. In the snowy places in the mountains, people enjoy various sports like cycling, ice skating, ice hockey, etc. with snowfall. My uncle's house was in a small village in the mountains, but I was more than happy that this time I would get to spend the winter season in the mountains. For this I was very curious and thrilled.

My father had booked the tickets in advance as last time the chances of getting the seats confirmed were less. According to the scheduled day we started doing our packing and with all the goods we reached the station for our train on the scheduled day. It took us a total of 13 hours to reach Uttarakhand. I was very curious to reach that place and see the panoramic view there. Finally we reached Uttarakhand and my uncle had come to the station to pick us up. A person like me living in the plains was very happy to see that place. That place looked like a little heaven to me.

We along with uncle reached his village at his house. My uncle's house was not very big but I like that place very much. I met my cousins and sisters there and we became five people in total. This holiday was going to be the most interesting and memorable one for me. Later my aunt cooked food for us. Uncle lit a fire for us and we all sat around him enjoying the heat of the fire. Then aunty served food for us and the food prepared by aunty was very tasty.

We planned to visit the nearby areas the next day. The pleasant weather conditions there and the view of the mountain peaks covered with snow all around were making the place more attractive. I spent a lot of time looking at the natural beauty of the place, and there was a strange feeling of relaxation at the sight of it. The environment there was very clean and pollution was also a lot more work than in cities. I also saw those snow-capped mountains and also enjoyed the snowfall there. It was a perfect and clean place to take beautiful and picturesque pictures so we took many pictures together with the whole family which became memorable for me.

The next day we planned to visit various temples in the valley. It was very surprising that there were so many temples in that small place. I saw that the nature of the people there was very simple. A bonfire was lit in the verandah of the house in the evening and we all used to sit around it and play.
