This is a very competitive board. The board members see over 200 packets and majority of the board are not Army Aviators. They are Warrant Officers of other specialties and they are evaluating your potential as a future Warrant Officer. I kept my essay to three paragraphs.
All WOFT (Civilian) applicants must meet the following standard. USAREC G-3 Special Programs will process exceptions (waivers) to AR 135-100, AR 601-100, AR 611-110, and Army Directives. Request for waivers are not routinely granted. Requests for waivers must be fully documented and must be clearly in the best interest of the Army.

I'm working on getting my packet together to go into the WOFT program. I've typed my essay and would like some critiques. Essay: When asked, "Why do you want to be an Army WOFT Aviator," I know my answer is because I want the challenge of leading others, keeping myself disciplined, and having a lasting impact on those around me.

My major, Marine Engineering Technologies, covered a wide scope of engineering subjects from electrical concepts and thermodynamics to engines and turbines. "Giving me a good look" is a weak way of describing a significant accomplishment.
Explain why you think you're an ideal candidate without being cocky and use brief events to strengthen your points. But don't undersell yourself either. The Army's mission is focused on land warfare, everything goes to support that mission. Perhaps move your current experience (SCUBA, leadership) to a separate small paragraph. Being a Warrant Officer appeals to me because it provides the opportunity to refine my leadership skills and test them by setting the best example for my men.

Then in the body back up your statement with what makes you qualified (make it sound like you shit gold). Summarize any leadership experience you have. Finally sim everything up with how you decided to do this.
You're not writing a novella; you need to write a terse, to-the-point, reason on why you're qualified to be an Army Aviation Warrant Officer. Candidate's entire packets are only given a few minutes for reviewal. The first three sentences in your essay could be removed entirely, as they give no concrete evidence that you'd make a good candidate.
