Introduction

I have gone through various captivating episodes in my life but I do not think that there is any one that beats my wedding day. A wedding is a celebration that brings pleasure and joy to everyone involved including the family members and friends. My wedding took place on18 May, 2010. It was a delightful day and was characterized by the occasional peeking of the May sun. A cool breeze rustled in the atmosphere from the west giving a cooling effect to the wedding’s invitees as each took a seat on the gazebo walk’s on either side.

Cool classical music played in the background and I could not believe that I was finally getting married to the love of my life, Steven. What a memorable day it would turn out to be! Streamers and balloons fluttered in enclosed railings with the vibrant red, green, and blue colors radiating throughout the premises. Rows of luxurious cars stood parked on the far side of the venue’s left and the overhead sun made them glitter.

As I sat in the dressing room with the make up artist putting the final touches on my face, I could not stop thinking about how everything looked lovely and perfect. When she was through, I stood up and hugged her. I said to her, “I owe it to you for making me look so pretty on a day when I would like to look the best.” She smiled at me lovingly and gave me my bouquet of flowers. I headed towards where the groom and the entire audience were waiting. I clutched tightly to my dad’s hand as we slowly walked down the path leading to the gazebo. The background music started to fade slowly and was replaced by bridal choruses as heads abruptly turned towards the aisle’s far end where I was making my entrance. At the far end stood Steven, the best man, Geoffrey and the bishop who was to solemnize the wedding ceremony. As I slowly walked towards him, I could not help but grin widely at my soon to be husband. He had never looked so handsome in a black suit and I was simply blown away. I wore a white wedding gown that was strapless and my bodice was covered with embroidery. The gown was also sewn with pearl beads and rhinestones. In addition, I wore a golden veil with a matching headpiece. In my hand was the silk bouquet of French roses.

As we reached the last step of the walk, my dad who had been holding my hand the entire time let go and said o me, “You will always be my little girl and my love for you keeps growing each day.” This almost made me teary-eyed and I kissed him and stepped onto the gazebo. Steven gave me a stunning and reassuring smile and whispered to me about how beautiful I looked. I blushed and complemented him likewise. The bishop took the microphone and the ceremony officially commenced. He smiled at the audience as he made the opening remarks and welcomed everybody to the ceremony. The sound system had been very good and everything said was clearly audible to all who were present. The bishop conducted the opening prayer and all this time I could not wait to say “I do”.

After the ending of the prayer, the bishop then proceeded to the next step of leading us through our vows. My little nine-year-old cousin Johnnie who was holding the rings came over and handed them to Steven. As he placed the ring on my finger and uttered the magic words ‘I do’, I was still unable to comprehend how I had managed to land up with such a handsome gentleman as my husband. I took the other ring and put it on his finger as my love for him and also said ‘I do’. After exchanging the vows, the bishop then declared us as husband and wife. We then shared a passionate kiss as the entire audience applauded loudly with claps and cheers.

The solemnization of the wedding was followed by a popular Christian hymn ‘O Perfect Love’ and as the congregation sang it, I felt goose bumps all over my body. While everyone was singing the hymn, Steven held my hand once again and whispered to me “You have made this day so special for me and I can’t wait to see how our life together will be like. I love you!” It was a dream come true for me to be blessed with a life partner like Steven who’s not only a thorough gentleman but man immensely loving and caring person. He belongs to a close-knit family and is grounded in both family and Christian values. He treats me like the most special person in his life and I really believe no other man could have loved me so much. The bishop presented us our marriage certificate and prepared us to walk down the aisle. My chin went up and I felt so proud holding Steven. As we walked down the gazebo hand in hand, the bridesmaids and groomsmen followed suit and music took over once again. Everyone’s eyes were fixed on us and we received such admiration that I was absolutely carried away. There were many hugs and kisses as everyone congratulated my groom and me and wished us all the best for our married life.

Our families were so happy that the wedding solemnization ceremony went well and ending on time. My parents had planned a great reception for us and invited many guests. It was held in a lush green lawn with tons of flowers and balloons. The color scheme was decided by my mother and it was a mesmerizing combination of white and lavender purple. My cousins and friend together had planned a lot of things for the reception. They had games and an elaborate introduction of the families. The introduction was the most entertaining and hilarious part of the whole reception as my cousins mimicked all the members of the family and then we had to guess who they were introducing. Everyone laughed their hearts out and thoroughly enjoyed it.

After all the guests met us and blessed us with their good wishes my father announced our first dance. I was shy yet at the same time I was looking forward to it. Steven held my hand and took me slowly and gently to the dancing floor. He went down on his knees and in front of everyone asked me “May I have the pleasure of dancing with my wife?” I was so taken up by his loving gesture that I blushed even more than before. We had a beautiful dance and soon the dancing floor was filled by all the guests.

Weddings Essay Conclusion

It was so much fun and frolic at the reception party, including the cake cutting ceremony. We had a beautiful 5 tier cake with the same color scheme and I received a beautiful surprise by Steven’s mother. She presented me a beautiful pair of diamond ear rings at the cake cutting ceremony and gave me a huge hug. It was arguably the best day of my life and although it took place about two years ago, I still remember it like it was yesterday. Our love has grown so much in the last two years and Steven still continues to pamper and love me with all his heart.

The Best Day of My Life Essay

The best day of my life is my 16th birthday. It is a day I will never forget in my life. I consider it till now my best birthday. All my relatives and friends were present at my birthday party. The best part of the party was my grandmother was present there. For the last time, she prepared all the food items I loved eating. It is even more special as it was the last day that I spent with her, after which she passed away. I spent the most time with her and she also enjoyed herself a lot with me for the last time in her life. This birthday is even more special as it was my last birthday with my grandmother.

The best day of my life was when I went on a school outing with my friends. We ate delicious food and enjoyed the day to the fullest.

I woke up at 6 am and got ready for school. My mother dropped me to school. From there we went to a science park by bus. During the entire journey we danced, sang, played games, and did many more fun activities. We ate snacks and played games with our teacher also. When we arrived we visited the science city and enjoyed every bit of it.

Besides the science park, it was a water park, so we quickly changed our clothes and jumped into the pool. We enjoyed ourselves in the pool, and we kept on playing for an hour. After that, we took a bath and changed clothes. We had rice and chicken for our lunch. We loved the food. After the food, we returned by bus. During the whole bus journey, we sang and danced.

This day is memorable as I could spend it with my friends. The day was a day to be remembered. We had so much fun together. Everything is worth remembering from the beginning to the end of the journey.

Life is full of events - both good and bad. Some things will be forgotten over time, and some will stay in your heart forever. Life is full of surprises and shocks, good and bad news, and unexpected turns. Fortune can benefit some people in life, and help them to reach the pinnacle of glory and happiness.

The Best Day of My Life

Recently I received the best gift from my dad. Since childhood, I always wanted a dog, and recently he had brought me one. I was studying in my room, dad entered my room with a labrador in his hands. I jumped from my bed with happiness. I also started crying as I could not believe my eyes. My mom and dad were always against having a dog. But he brought it, and made it the best day of my life.

Significance of My Best Day

I still remember myself bursting into tears and happiness at the same time. That night I held Bruno the whole time. The next moment I saw myself buying stuff for the dog. I bought food, clothes, toys, and many more things which would make him happy. That night I held him tight and slept beside him. I could not sleep the whole night due to the excitement.

I looked at him throughout the entire night with utmost happiness and surprise. That day was the best day of my life as I got my best friend. A best friend who would never leave me. A best friend who will always be there for me whenever I need him.A best friend who will make me the happiest. A friend who will love me to the fullest. That dog gave me the ultimate happiness and, this is how the day became the best day of my life. I named the dog Bruno.

I am always looking for him whenever I come back from school. He always jumps, licks me, and wags his tail after seeing me. My friends come along with me to play with him. Bruno also became their friend.

What I Love about My Dog

The thing that I love about Bruno the most is that he can gel well with people. My sister was not that comfortable with dogs. But Bruno made her fall in love with him. They are now the best of friends. He would jump in happiness whenever he saw him. She would also run toward him and would pick him up. She feeds him food and always brings toys and treats for him. She loves her to the fullest and, at the same time he loves her to the fullest. This is how Bruno became everyone's favourite.

Every person has some happy days and some bad days in their life. Both help people learn different things from these different experiences. But the happy days are worth remembering. They help you cheer on your days of sadness and bring back all the memories that are worth cherishing. The best day has a great impact on our life.

my wedding day was the best day of my life essay

my wedding day was the best day of my life essay

My wedding was both the best and worst day of my life. Here's what I learned.

10 days before my wedding, my brother lost his fight with pediatric bone cancer., it was my wedding day..

I stood outside the doors to the chapel. My heart was racing, and I felt my eyes fill up with tears.

I can’t do this.

Before I could turn and run, the doors flung open. I was caught off guard as 80 expectant faces turned to look at me. I scanned the crowd. I saw my family and friends. I saw my dad and stepfather waiting in front of the altar to give me away. But I was going to have to walk down the aisle alone, and that was not how it was supposed to be.

I don’t know how long I paused there. I felt like I couldn’t move.

Then my eyes found my future husband, Joe. And right next to him, I saw a single candle burning on a tall candelabra. Gulp. I looked back at Joe and decided that if I could make it down the aisle to him, I’d be OK.

I felt as if my knees might buckle, but somehow I began walking. It was surreal. I felt as if I were floating, but I eventually made it down the aisle.

Me and my husband-to-be on my wedding day. All photos from the author and used with permission.

18 months earlier, my 16-year-old brother was diagnosed with a rare pediatric bone cancer.

The diagnosis was grim. The prognosis was not good. He was quick to rally. He was going to be fine. He was going to live his life. He was still planning a future. He packed a lot of living in a short time.

10 days before my wedding, he lost his fight.

Now, I look back and I don’t know how my family and I made it through both a funeral and a wedding in such a short span of time, but we did. There would be no postponing of the wedding as I’d suggested. E very single member of my family told me in no uncertain terms that my brother would never want me to put it off. He always said he "didn’t have time for cancer." He didn’t let it stop him from doing the things he wanted to do, and he would be highly pissed if I let cancer stop my wedding.

So, even though we were still in a state of shock, we had a wedding. There were tributes to my brother throughout the wedding, including the single candle that stood where he was supposed to stand as a groomsman. We read a beautiful poem in his memory during the ceremony. We played his favorite song at the reception. And we danced. And we drank. And, i nexplicably, we had fun.

15 years have passed since that day.

15 years and I’m still trying to figure out how to move through life without him. 15 years and I’m still learning about how this "after part" works.

A school picture of my brother.

I would gladly trade the things I’ve learned to have my brother back, but I learned a long time ago that bargaining doesn’t work. So usually, I choose to appreciate the lessons I’ve learned instead.

1. I’ve learned to cut people some extra slack.

You really don’t know what people are going through. You don’t know what they have endured. You don’t know what battles they may be fighting.

There were the times during my brother’s illness when I would find myself driving 15 mph in the left lane. I’d be lost somewhere between grief and exhaustion, and I would arrive home with no idea how I got there. There were times when I’d look up distractedly at the grocery store, only to realize that I’d been standing in the middle of the aisle, lost in thought, for 10 minutes.

I used to be the person who honked impatiently and threw dirty looks as I zoomed past a slow driver, but not anymore.

Now I know what it's like to really have a bad day, to be so lost in a world turned on its head that you’re completely unaware of your surroundings. I learned that we all have bad days. Some of us have really bad days. Most of us are just trying to make it to tomorrow.

2. I’ve learned that true compassion and grace are about suspending judgment.

Over and over, I saw that real compassion is giving people the benefit of the doubt: granting them access, assisting them when you don’t know them, being patient and kind even when you don’t know what they're actually going through.

If you have to know the behind the scenes? If you have to know their story in order to be kind? If your kindness is based on an assessment of their pain and if it is conditional? Then it’s not truly kindness; it’s just judgment.

I didn’t get this before. I wasn’t cruel, and I wasn’t mean-spirited, but I was impatient and I was easily irritated. That was before I realized the depths in which people can be trapped while still looking completely normal to the rest of the world.

3. I’ve learned that comfort sometimes comes from unexpected places.

There are people who had a huge impact on me, who helped me through difficult times, and they probably don’t even know the significance of their actions.

Sometimes, for me, it was the soft-spoken coworker who offered me a hug as I was leaving to meet my family at the hospital. He was shy and reserved, but he wrapped me in a big bear hug when I was overcome with emotion. I knew this small gesture was not easy for him to give, but his effort to offered me solace.

In another moment, that solace came from my brash, loud, jokester boss who let me take off as much time as I needed to be with my brother at the hospital. Another time, it was my friend from work who calmly assured me that I would feel joy again after I tearfully confided my fear and pain to her. And often, solace came from my husband’s brother and my sister-in-law, who drove 12 hours to attend my brother’s memorial service.

I learned that an act of kindness, no matter how small, is never wrong. Sometimes it’s the thing that can help someone put one foot in front of the other.

4. I’ve learned that I can still, even 15 years later, be blindsided by the cruel reality of it all.

Sometimes I’ll be sitting at my kid’s swim practice when a memory knocks the wind out of me. The next thing I know, I’m wiping away tears and hoping no one notices.

Sometimes I’ll be eating dinner at a restaurant and the waiter might look just like my brother. I’ll feel the loss and pain take over and overwhelm me. And in these moments, I’m always surprised at the cruel force of grief’s ability to blindside me.

Sometimes I'll see him when my kids do something especially mischievous, and my thoughts unwillingly flicker to images of my brother, to memories of the antics of a little boy long ago.

Me and my brother as young children.

Then, I start imagining what could have been: him egging them on, encouraging their exasperating behavior. And I can almost hear him laughing, enjoying every second of finding a way to torture me as an adult like he did as a little kid.

You can bottle yourself up and try to insulate yourself from it, but let me tell you: It’s not going away, so you might as well let it happen. Y ou’ll feel it, you’ll hurt, but I’ve learned that you’ll also be OK. You will be OK.

5. I’ve learned that I’ll probably feel my brother’s presence forever.

I'll still see him in each of my children, in their personalities, in their senses of humor, which is what my brother was known for.

I'll still feel him when my family is together and my sister and my parents are laughing and we’re giving each other a hard time. I often feel the hair on the back of my neck stand up. I feel a warmth come over me, a warmth hard to describe because it’s unlike any sensation I’ve felt before.

And I hope I'll still feel him, forever, kicking me in the ass when I’m about to chicken out on doing something that scares me. I can almost hear what he would say to me in those situations: Don’t give up. You’re better than that.

I’ve learned to recognize these moments, when I feel him with me. They are bittersweet. They are welcome. And they tug at my heart because they will never be enough.

6. What I’ve realized most of all, after all of these years, is that there didn’t need to be a replacement for my brother.

When we knew, in those last weeks, that it would not be possible for him to walk me down the aisle, I contemplated other options. But in the end, I decided there was no understudy, and there would be no last minute stand-in. I couldn’t imagine replacing him in that role.

And as always, even though my brother wasn't physically there, he showed up. He kicked me in the ass a little and told me not to be scared. He reminded me that I didn’t have time to let my pain stand in the way of my wedding, my happiness.

Me and my husband walking down the aisle after our marriage ceremony.

In the end, my brother was still there with me on one of the best days of my life because he always has been.

The evolution of candles from lighting necessity to scented ambience creator is kind of funny. For thousands of years , people relied on candles and oil lamps for light, but with the invention of the light bulb in 1879 , fire was no longer needed for light. At that time, people were probably relieved to not have to set something on fire every time they wanted to see in the dark, and now here we are spending tons of money to do it just for funsies.

We love lighting candles for coziness and romance, relishing their warm, soft light as we shrink from the fluorescent bulb craze of the early 2000s. Many people use candles for adding scent to a room, and there are entire candle companies just for this purpose (Yankee Candles, anyone?). As of 2022, candles were an $11 billion business.

With their widespread use, you'd think we'd know a thing or two about candles, but as a thread on X makes clear, a whole bunch of us have been burning candles wrong our entire lives without knowing it.

A post from @kktweetshaha started the education session: "Just learned that my fiancé, who buys candles all the time and we literally always have candles burning, did not actually know how they work and blew out a medium first burn candle 30 minutes after I lit it when I wasn’t paying attention and ruined it."

Many people had no idea what she was talking about, so she explained.

"If a candle is not burned for long enough on first burn to melt edge to edge it will create a 'memory ring.' Once a candle has a memory ring, it will continue to tunnel and never burn all the way across."

This is why you should not light a large candle at night, which is unlikely to burn all the way across before you need to blow out to go to bed. Allow at least one hour per inch of candle width — (@)

"This is why you should not light a large candle at night, which is unlikely to burn all the way across before you need to blow out to go to bed. Allow at least one hour per inch of candle width," she went on.

So that's why candles always end up with a hole in the middle, making us think the candle companies are just running a scam to make us go through candles faster. Nope. It's user error, and many people were flabbergasted by this realization.

"This is the most useful information I’ve been given my entire adult life," wrote one person.

"This skill should be taught in schools," shared another. "The amount I’ve wasted on half burnt candles is outrageous, the amount of times I’ve used Algebra since leaving school = 0."

"When I worked at Pier 1 in the 90s I got to go to some candle workshop that taught us the correct way to use (and therefore sell) candles and that is probably some of the most useful knowledge I've carried in my head this long life," shared another.

Some people suggested wrapping aluminum foil around the rim of the candle to help recover a candle that's been tunneled or to speed the process of melting the wax across the entire candle. Other suggested melting the candle down in the oven to even it back out again. The original poster pointed out that sometimes candles aren't wicked properly. According to Lone Star Candle Supply, if a candle is more than 4 inches in diameter it may become necessary to have two wicks.

@CompostTraining There are a few things you can try to improve it even if not fixing entirely. The popular fix is wrapping the candle in tin foil to increase the temperature across the surface. — (@)

The candle posts also prompted a separate discussion about candles and indoor air quality and the volatile organic compounds that are released when they are burned. Some people equated burning candles with having a small engine running in your living room, though according to the Cleveland Clinic, there's scant evidence that the amount of toxins released by burning candles is actually hazardous to your health, especially if you use high quality candles in a well-ventilated area.

How do you know if a candle is "high quality"? First, check the wick for metal . Lead in wicks is not nearly as common as it used to be, but best not to risk it if you find metal in the wick. Second, choose soy, beeswax, palm or coconut wax candles instead of paraffin, which is petroleum-based product and more likely to put off soot and smoke particles . Everyone reacts differently to different amounts of particulates in the air, so if you find yourself getting headaches or respiratory symptoms when using candles , it's probably best to avoid them. But if you tolerate them, feel free to enjoy as recommended,—just make sure that first burn melts the wax all the way to the edges to avoid the dreaded tunneling.

When a newborn lamb was rejected by her mother, the family dog stepped in to nurture her

A mother's urge to care for a baby is one of the strongest instincts in the animal kingdom.

Max took over when Beau's mom refused to care for her.

A mother's urge to care for a baby is one of the strongest instincts in the animal kingdom , but sometimes something somewhere along the line goes haywire. Occasionally, a mom will reject its offspring, refusing to nurture or feed or care for it in any way.

That's what happened to baby Beau, a lamb born to a sheep on Olivia Akers' farm.

"Beau’s mom didn’t want to be a mom. I don’t have an exact answer as to why," Akers shared on Instagram . "I tried EVERYTHING under the sun to get her to accept Beau. Rubbing the placenta for scent, also tried with her milk, giving them time in close quarters. She got progressively more violent, telling me she didn’t want to do this. So I listened."

While Beau had to be bottle-fed by humans, she wasn't left completely unnurtured by her four-legged counterparts. The family dog , Max, took an immediate liking to her, and according to Akers, it was like "love at first sight."

"The second Max laid eyes on Beau, it was HER baby," Akers wrote. "She protected her, cleaned her, played with her…and most importantly, Max loved her."

The two became inseparable, romping around in the pasture together, grooming and snuggling with one another. Beau spent so much time with Max that she started developing dog-like traits. People love Max and Beau's story.

"Beau is no longer sheep, Beau is now a good dog," wrote one commenter.

"I had a dog when I was really little that was taken from his mom too early and our rabbit adopted him and they always snuggled at night," shared another.

"This is so cool! I have a week old black sheep and my black dog Maxine aka max does this same thing!!! Her mother died in child birth," shared another.

"Yay Max!!!!!! Beau is so lucky to have you!" wrote another.

Sometimes mothers in nature will reject babies when there's something wrong with them, but sometimes there's not a clear reason. No one knows why Beau's mom refused to care for her, but everyone is so happy that Max stepped into her place.

Max and Beau still play together, and it's pure joy to see them frolicking around on the farm. Max & Beau Part 2 has more footage of Beau all grown up and still pouncing around with her high energy friend, Max.

She got a nasty note on her car for parking in a disabled spot. Her response is a vital read.

Not all disabilities are visible..

A nasty note gets a strong response.

We've all seen it while cruising for spots in a busy parking lot: A person parks their whip in a disabled spot, then they walk out of their car and look totally fine. It's enough to make you want to vomit out of anger, especially because you've been driving around for what feels like a million years trying to find a parking spot.

You're obviously not going to confront them about it because that's all sorts of uncomfortable, so you think of a better, way less ballsy approach: leaving a passive aggressive note on their car's windshield.

Satisfied, you walk back to your car feeling proud of yourself for telling that liar off and even more satisfied as you walk the additional 100 steps to get to the store from your lame parking spot all the way at the back of the lot. But did you ever stop and wonder if you told off the wrong person?

What if that person on the receiving end of the note had a perfectly good explanation for why they're driving car with a disabled sticker and tag?

That's exactly what happened to Emma Doherty, who was surprised to see someone pen such vitriolic words to her in this letter she found on her car.

The language in the note is pretty harsh:

"You lazy conning b-tch. You did not have a disabled person with you! These spaces are reserved for people who need them!!!"

I get that avoiding conflict is something that's been trained into us, but maybe if whoever wrote this note decided to say something to Emma, this entire thing could've been cleared up entirely.

Instead, she had to take to Facebook to pick apart the anonymous grouch and explain her situation to the rest of us. And hopefully whoever wrote the note (if they see her post) understands why they were terribly wrong.

Emma is the mother of a terminally ill child, Bobby. Her ruthless and powerful message sheds light on the misconceptions associated with disabilities and helps to break the stigma that all impairments are visible, because they're not.

"To the person who put this on my car, which I had put my disabled badge fully on, I'm not angry at your pure ignorance, I'm actually upset with it. How dare you ever accuse anyone of not needing a disabled badge without knowing. I wish you had the balls to say this to my face and I would have told you (even tho I don't need to explain myself to the likes of you) but I'd have happily said why I have a badge. " "I promise to get the stigma away from people with disabled badges who don't "look disabled." I hope this gets shared and back to you and you will see my son is terminally ill, he's had over 15 operations, 3 open hearts, 2 stomach, lung and diaphragm and countless artery stenting operations and spent half his life on intensive care."

Emma Doherty and her son Bobby.

SOURCE: FACEBOOK

In her post, she delineates the severity of Bobby's illness, which has put the young man through multiple surgeries and procedures that are no walks in the park.

"He's had 2 strokes and was paralyzed, brain damaged and has a spine and hip condition as well as a massive heart condition. The reason I didn't get his wheelchair out was because I was running late because my son, who had a MRI scan, CTSCAN and a dye for heart function yesterday, only got discharged late and was back in this morning so carried him in. " "But for your information not everyone who holds a blue badge needs to have a wheelchair! I've told ... security and broke down, I've sat through things nobody should see but why did your note break me? Because it's your pure ignorance towards others. I'm a single mom trying my best to hold it together for my son who's in and out if hospital. NOT ALL DISABILITIES ARE VISIBLE and I hope you regret doing this and learn your lesson!”

Throughout her post, Emma simultaneously castigates the person and drives one important point home: Just because someone isn't in a wheelchair or crutches, doesn't mean they aren't disabled or in need of physical care or assistance.

I knew something would be said one day as every day I get looks and stares and see people whispering to each other about me and Bobby walking from the car. Everyone needs to stop and think before acting. I hardly ever let anything upset me but this did. How aggressive as well, and as for conning my son's disabled pass... [It] is not a con, he's actually seriously ill. I've added a picture of him to prove not everyone looks ill or disabled but can be seriously ill.

The mother clarifies at the end of the message that she's sure it wouldn't be a hospital staff member who wrote the message, because those who work in healthcare are well aware of the various reasons someone would have a disabled tag on their vehicle.

"I'd like to point out this has nothing to do with the hospital itself. They were lovely with me when I was upset and they treat us with every respect, always have [in our] 3 long years with them. They've saved my son's life many times. It [was] just somebody who was parked [there].”

Her post quickly went viral, with many people echoing her sentiments and thanking her for helping to clear up that tons of people suffer from different disabilities and that not all of them are so readily apparent.

And as it turns out, Emma isn't the only parent who's dealt with judgmental individuals who gave them flack for having a disabled sticker on their car. As if having to deal with a sick child isn't enough, they also have to suffer through getting guff from randos on the street over a measly parking spot.

Bobby's condition has left him without pulmonary artery function, which means that blood will not pump throughout his body. As you can imagine, walking long distances — or performing many physical tasks otherwise healthy individuals take for granted — are out of the question for the 3-year-old.

As a result of her son's condition, Emma has to take him to the hospital for treatments throughout the week, and seeing the note on her car while having to deal with that ultimately set her off. Thankfully, she used her anger to send a positive message.

Floored by the positive response to her message, Emma went back online to thank people for being so receptive and helping to spread awareness that disabilities come in many forms.

"My inbox is full of people who have told me they have been stared at or even spat at. This is a serious problem and I just want it to change. I am hoping by sharing what I went through people will start to think before acting."

How much money do you need to retire? Experts answer the question and explain what went wrong.

"that also means there's quite a few people that haven't saved anything.".

Experts answer how much money you need to retire, we're behind

If you're like many middle class Millennials then you've likely resigned yourself to never being able to retire. It's a running joke amongst people entering middle-age that their retirement age is death. Meaning they've accepted that they'll likely work until they die of old age because there's no way they'll be able to put away enough money in the next 20 plus years to be able to retire.

This isn't even just a Millennial issue, it's simply more wide spread for this particular generation as wages stagnate while the cost of existing continues to skyrocket. But we've seen adolescents open up GoFundMe pages for elderly workers at their local Walmart or McDonald's who were well past the age of retirement trying to make ends meet.

Millennials have been told since they were in middle school that social security would likely not be around when they were old enough to retire. But how did it come to this and exactly how much do you need in order to retire?

Vox conducted an interview with a couple of financial experts and people who would be considered middle class. The video opens up with Teresa Ghilarducci, a labor economist, that gives some staggering figures if you're one of those Americans already feeling behind on retirement.

"If you want to maintain your living standards that you have now or you'll have throughout your life, in the American system by the time you're 30 you should have about one times your current salary. By the time you're 40 you should have about two and a half or three times your salary. In your 60s you should have eight to ten times your annual salary," Ghilarducci reveals to Vox.

Those numbers seem unrealistic, even to the expert interviewed when looking at today's economy. She later explains why retirement is becoming an unachievable dream for many working Americans.

"The reason why a coal miner and a lawyer could expect to retire is because of the design of our pension system, which we don't have anymore. Your employer would put money aside for your retirement and that money couldn't be accessed by you. So the dollar that the employer put in on your behalf was put into a big pool of money and it was professionally invested and at the end of your working life, that money would be translated into a lifetime benefit."

According to both of the financial experts interviewed, the laws changed about 40 years ago switching things over to more of the system we recognize today. The entire video is extremely eye opening. Check it out below.

Surprise finish in Savannah Bananas 'baby race' is the most adorable sports moment ever

No one predicted how this race was going to end..

Imagine trying to calculate the odds on this one.

If you want to see the most hilarious race in the world, line up a group of crawling babies across from a parent and say "Ready, set, go!"

That's exactly the scenario that played out at a Savannah Bananas baseball game , and the result was one for the record books.

If you're unfamiliar with the Savannah Bananas, you're in for a treat. Think Harlem Globetrotters, but with baseball instead of basketball and with even more silliness and shenanigans. The athletic skill is there, make no mistake, but the primary goal is to entertain. And goodness, do they win on that front every time.

The players dress up. They dance . They sing. They play baseball. And in between all of that, they have whacky contests like this baby race.

Who knew a minute of babies crawling could be so riveting…and with such an unexpected outcome?

@thesavbananas Is this the greatest comeback of all time?! 📸: @Austin Usher #savannahbananas #bananaball #funny #foryou #cute

"The race was the most unexpected highlight amongst all of the other wacky Banana highlights," the man behind the camera, Austin Usher, told Upworthy, "We laughed from the moments the babies sat without moving until the very end. No one expected the come from behind win like that, it was the loudest crowd pop of the night for sure."

People loved the surprise win that no one saw coming, especially from the babe who seemed to spend most of the race trying to help out a buddy.

"Me explaining to my wife that we lost the house because I bet on a baby race," wrote one commenter.

"This baby race is a life lesson. Success will come to those who remain focused even if you are a late starter," wrote another.

"The baby that won spent half the race encouraging his lil friend to run:)) gave up on him and still won," offered another.

"That baby was so sure he wanted to help his friend out. He tried twice. TWICE!!! Very intentional child," shared another.

The Savannah Bananas have as unlikely an origin story as that baby's odds of winning the baby race. The team was founded in the fall of 2015 as an attempt at bringing baseball fans back to Historic Grayson Stadium after minor league baseball had left Savannah. At that time, they struggled to sell any tickets and the owners even had to sell their house to keep from going under.

After they named the team the Savannah Bananas in February of 2016, they made national news. But local folks weren't sold on the silly name and told them they'd never sell a ticket.

Not only did they end up selling out their first game, but they've sold out every game since—over 200 of them. They have also grown in popularity immensely, boasting over 8 million followers on TIkTok alone. And with "kenergetic" at-bats like this one, it's not hard to see why:

@thesavbananas Baton Rouge, your Kenergy is 10/10 💛🙌 #savannahbananas #kenergy #imjustken #oscars #kenough #ryangosling #geauxtigers

Is it really baseball, though? Yes and no. It's definitely baseball, but with a few twists. Here are the 11 rules of "Banana Ball" that set it apart from a traditional baseball game (besides the costumes and dancing and acrobatics).

Jeeps have 'easter eggs' hidden on the vehicle and people are sharing theirs

Well, this is fun..

Little secrets to be found.

Today, half of the Internet learned that Jeep vehicles have hidden 'Easter eggs' on them. Apparently, the other half already knew but didn't bother to tell us.

As Joel Feder of Motor Authority explains, Jeep vehicles have had these little surprises since the 90s. Michael Santoro, hired as a designer in 1989, decided to slip an Easter egg into the Wrangler TJ. Since then, pretty much every vehicle has included at least one Easter Egg. According to Mopar Insiders , the Easter eggs can be found on each of the brand's cars.

Not everyone was aware of this fact, though, as a TikTok by jackiefoster40 recently revealed. The user discovered a spider hidden in his fuel tank and decided to share the Easter egg in a video.

"So I bought my first car, and a fun fact about Jeeps is that they have a hidden animal which is called an Easter egg," the user said. "I couldn't find my Easter egg for the longest time, and one day I was pumping my gas, and I saw this spider coming at me, and I thought 'oh my god', and then I realized it was my Easter egg."

Now, TikTok users have been looking a little closer at their jeeps to discover the Easter eggs hidden in their cars. Most of them posted jackiefoster40's original narration over their videos to explain what was going on.

my wedding day was the best day of my life essay

SARAH PROUT

My Wedding: The Happiest Day of My Life

The 21st of September, 2013 was a day that will stay in my heart for the rest of my life. I finally got to marry my best friend, Mr. Sean Patrick Simpson and we had the best time ever surrounded by friends and family present to celebrate our union. We got married at a place called The Rumor Boutique Hotel in Las Vegas. The decor was pink, I got ready in a pink room called ‘The Diva Suite’, the food was Vegan, the weather was perfect and the energy was outstandingly fun and vibrant. What’s also interesting to note is that when I created my vision board a few months ago I wanted a specific floral bouquet for the wedding which I couldn’t have because peonies aren’t in season in America right now. However, a happy accident occurred because the flowers that turned up on my wedding day were exactly the same as on my vision board and were not what I ordered. Love it when things like this manifest.

The night before the wedding was full of amazing surprises too. We had the rehearsal dinner, followed by a ‘meet and greet’ with the other guests, a beautiful performance by our dear friend and very talented  John Stringer   and then we went out to the strip in Vegas in a stretch Hummer! (Special thanks to my wonderful bridesmaid Bron). However while taking a walk, my Dad had a bad fall and couldn’t walk properly. We didn’t know if he’d be okay to walk me down the aisle since he’s been having some health issues recently. I just remember Sean and I holding my Dad’s feet giving him an energetic healing. My Mum was there too and I have never been more in love with my parents than during our stay in Vegas. The love and support they showed me was phenomenal and I have never so proud to be a Prout. Long story short, Dad had a good night sleep and was okay the next day to give me away. We were so relieved! However…

I received my dress back from the dry-cleaning concierge and the zipper was entirely broken! My Dad and my beautiful Lady of Honor (Dallyce) spent over an hour sewing me into my dress! Everything was perfect!  Even, (and especially) the seeming imperfections were fabulous additions to the overall experience.

Here are some of the first photos that have been released from our amazing photographer ( Steven Joseph Photography ) – there will be more to come! And our official wedding video will be available in the near future too. We had the pleasure of working with videographer  Lightfield Lewis  who got an up-close snap shot of our blissful and eccentric time during and leading up to the wedding. I’m pretty sure the footage he captured is going to be awesome.  I can’t wait to share it.

The best day of my life essay

The best day of my life essay 21 models

Last updated Saturday , 16-03-2024 on 10:51 am

The best day of my life essay , contains many beautiful feelings and joy that always be in the heart and the soul when you experience a beautiful experience in your life, such as the experience of success and move from stage to stage and you are all proud of what you achieved  and what you earn in this day the fruits of your tiredness and effort . All this will be known here in The best day of my life essay .

The best day of my life essay

Everyone passed through sad and happy times , but you have to have a day that is the best day of your life and that is what we will know here in The best day of my life essay.

The best day of my life

Our lives are full of many days and events, some days will be happy full of good and joy that will bring joy to our hearts, and remain firmly in the heart forever. The memories of the happy days remain present in the heart and spirit.

And the happiest day is  the day of graduation from each stage of study. It is a day full of mixed feelings that can not be explained or separated.

Despite the great joy of success and graduation, the heart feels for a moment the great emptiness that will surround it after the farewell of the friends of study, and at the same time, the joy remains the master of the situation, there is no greater joy than the joy of graduation.

No matter how many happy days in life there is no nicer than the day I get the fruits of fatigue and diligence,  Success in study is the basis of the future, the key to life, something we are entitled to be proud of; because it is an achievement for ourselves, and the realization of many dreams and aspirations, and the transition from one stage to another.

And because it is a happy day we must see the expressions of joy and pleasure on the faces of all friends and family who come to congratulate us on success,  But that joy on the faces of parents is the most beautiful and most expensive at all.

The best day of my life was when  my father surprised me with a gift on my birthday. When I opened it, I found a very cool bike. I couldn’t prevent myself from jumping because of joy.

I remember urging him to teach me how to drive it daily until I could learn to drive. How happy I was when I found him seeing me driving alone. And I liked a lot when he smiles after I perform one of the simple movements such as driving with one hand or doing any other movements. This day was one of the best days of my life.

I remember very well that I still have this bike even though it no longer fits me. But my memories with it are wonderful, I raced by it with my friends, and I also enjoyed a lot when driving it at sunset and the weather was humid and beautiful, and the air caressed my face and body.

It was such a great feeling, I might get to ride the bike again to get back this feelings from time to time.

The best day of my life : (Short story)

The best day of my life when the doctors managed to cure me of cancer. After a struggle that lasted for two and a half years, I can’t describe the many feelings I’ve had for two and a half years. Whether clinging to hope and trying to raise morale and ignoring all feelings of fear and anxiety, and certainly pain is one of the things that if it gets stuck in your head, it is not a simple matter to get it out.

Therefore, after a journey of struggle that its beginning was ” be optimistic” to a congratulations from the doctor after telling me that I had gotten rid of any traces of tumor in my digestive system.

Of course I am very grateful to hear this now. I can make up for what I missed from activities and studies. I was trying as much as possible to maintain my educational progress. But because of my long-term hospitalization, I missed a lot of classes.

I would like to thank all my friends who supported me in raising my spirits and visiting me continuously.

The best day of my life essay 300 words

There are many beautiful days in my life, but I recently had a very serious disease, Corona disease (Covid-19). And I was about to die. Therefore, I consider the day that I recovered from Corona disease (Covid-19) as the best and most beautiful day of my life, I even decided to celebrate this day like I celebrated my birthday, it is like a new birth for me.

The story of my infection with the dreaded virus began when I attended the wedding of one of my friends. I was very happy for my friend, and after I gave him a valuable gift on the occasion of his marriage, I participated in singing and dancing,

Everyone in attendance was happy, singing cheerful songs and dancing and at the end of the party I congratulated my friend and his bride and left.

After that I felt a little tired but I thought I had the flu. I didn’t care about it, and at two o’clock at night my temperature rose and I felt severe pain in my back. My whole body was in pain, I could hardly move and feel very weak.

Then I remembered that I was not wearing a mask at my friend’s wedding, so I suspected that what I was feeling from the pain were the symptoms of Corona (Covid-19).

So I immediately went to the hospital, I was alone and could not tell any of my family members what I was suffering from.

In the hospital, I was examined by the specialized doctor, and the doctor told me that there is a suspicion that you have been infected with the Corona virus (Covid-19), and some tests and x-rays must be done to confirm this matter.

I tried to be consistent, and went to the lab to do the tests and then to the x-ray room, and after I took the x-ray, I got dizzy. I fell to the ground and could not move, and the doctor and nurses rushed towards me to save me.

I did not feel anything after that, my health condition deteriorated very quickly and I was transferred to the intensive care room. I stayed in the intensive care unit 14 days.

It was proven by analyzes and x-rays that I was infected with the Corona virus (Covid-19), and the doctors and nurses took great care of me, until my health improved and I recovered completely from the disease.

I considered the day I got rid of this dangerous disease as the best day of my life and decided to celebrate that day every year.

The best day of my life paragraph

My name is (..). I am (..) years old. I have been swimming since class (..). This year I was able to join the school team. This is the best day of my life. I love very much to be part of a team and follow instructions, I love such a life so much.

I really like to train with my friends and do some competitive work. I always like to dazzle others around me. I also use my training at school to join the national swimming team in the future when I grow up. I would very much like to represent my country in the sport of swimming in the Olympics.

Now I’m competing in the 20m races. In some competitions, I get first place. I feel very happy when this happens, so I love this sport very much. It makes me feel victorious and achieving the goal.

The best day of my life short essay

The best day of my life was last vacation. My father and mother talked to us that there is a social duty on us towards cancer patients. And  that we should support children and adults, but especially children.

So we actually started asking what we’re going to do there. My father began to tell us about the importance of knowing the psychological state of the patient. Therefore, we must take care of  the psychological state of patients without notifying them that you pity them.

You should treat them cheerfully and work to support them happily. Then he told us not to worry about this disease is not contagious.

He also cautioned not to take too long with patients and to respect time. So we actually went to the hospital. After wearing protective clothing so as not to transmit any diseases to patients, we were prepared to enter the first patient’s room, who was a small child at the age of 14 years.

I was a little afraid of my actions but after a short time I managed to make him smile a lot. Only then I felt  happy and understood what I should do.

This moment was indeed the most beautiful moment in my life when I was able to support him and make him a happy person.

Describe the best day of your life

The best day of my life was very interesting, I don’t know how it happened but I felt a strange optimism as soon as I woke up that day. I felt very strong and energetic. I went to school and attended some normal classes,

When I finished, I went to the gym by chance to find the coach talking that he wanted to test some new students in basketball. I said to myself “this is the time to put your fear aside, either now or forget about it forever”.

I went to the coach and told him that I wanted to apply with them, he said why not, and asked me to come so that he can see some of my skills.

I went to change my clothes and participated in training and warm-up with them, and it was time for individual work.

I’ve never felt like this before, so high concentration with more energy , and I didn’t feel any fear. Just me and the ball and scoring.

Everyone was amazed at my skill and how I had not joined the team before, and the coach asked me to join immediately and he is happy that I asked to join. This day represents the best day of my life.

A day in my life essay 200 words

The most beautiful day of my life was so amazing and wonderful. I still remember that wonderful feeling I had as soon as I saw the gift my father brought me.

I woke up to my mother’s voice asking me to go down because my father wanted me to do something important. I went to the living room where my father is standing and hiding a big box in it, and he told me what you think about opening this box to see what’s inside.

I felt strange and some different feelings such as confusion and longing, I went to open the box and there was a sound of something moving inside, I said, Oh my God, Dad, there is something alive inside. What is this?. He replied, “Why don’t you open it up and see for yourself, my dear?.

I actually quickly opened the box to find inside a puppy with beautiful and soft golden hair. Oh my God, how beautiful I immediately hugged him and looked for a few minutes at my father and mother and found them filming the moment.

I can’t describe the feelings of happiness I had, I wish I could fly or jump higher to express how happy I am at this moment. This is my first pet and I loved it so much, I have never had any pet to be responsible for it and I can teach it some manners and enjoy playing with it.

I watched many movies on YouTube or TV, and I saw such a moment, but nothing really describes it as it should. This is a very wonderful gift, especially when you are of the right age. It was a really great gift.

Undoubtedly, there are situations or days that pass by us that make us appreciate the value of the things around us. The best day of my life when I miraculously survived a car accident.

Last year I was cycling in the roads around the park, which is close to my house, and decided to get out on the highway for a bit and try cruising among the cars.

Suddenly, a terrifyingly fast car appeared and I did not notice it, and the driver was talking on the mobile as well. I didn’t notice the car because it was coming from behind all I could hear was the sound of the brakes and I felt a collision from behind that made me jump in the air. I fall to the ground next to another car that almost passed over me.

I was very scared and can’t believe that I managed to survive this accident, of course this day taught me a lot like not taking risks and it made me mature a lot. It made me feel responsible and self-esteem and that I must maintain my safety.

I went through several other situations that some of my friends tried to lure me into, but witch saved me was sticking to my decision not to take risks and stick to safety first.

After that, I learned that they were exposed to some dangers and accidents, so I felt grateful that I stuck to my decision and didn’t perform some dangerous games or dangerous movements.

I felt that this day was a huge difference in my life, and helped me to mature and appreciate the good things in my life.

The best day of my life essay 100 words

The best day of my life when my aunt  was cured of cancer. My father was very worried about his sister and her children.

That year, my father took my cousins to live with us temporarily until their mother recovered. In addition to that their father is always accompanying the mother in the hospital.

It was a very harsh period when you lived with your family members and you find them suffering in front of your eyes. This does not leave time for you to rest and you live your life to check on them only. It somehow brings you closer to the pain they feel.

So I found that the happiest day of my life was when we got the news of my aunt’s recovery and we all went to pick her up from the hospital and go home.

The best day of my life essay 150 words

Undoubtedly, I am fortunate because I am healthy and in good health and do not have any serious diseases. In the past months, my best friend was suffering from cancer and was in a lot of pain due to chemotherapy.

He faced it with strength and I supported him a lot on a daily basis. I could see him every day losing weight, losing all the hair on his head. Completely changed and became thin and suffers from severe pain in all of his body.

It was a very painful experience for him and certainly for me as well because I was going through it with him and I did not give up on him.

I learned a lot through this experience like that people can handle pain when there is someone to support them and always raise their moral and psychological side.

I also learned that we may face disappointments in people close to us, and that they may stay away from us because we suffer a lot and they have nothing to offer in their belief.

As I learned from this experience the most important lesson, that life is changeable, and as with a severe fall, it is also possible to rise again. That’s why it was the best day of my life when my friend was cured.

Speech on the best day of my life

Certainly the past two years were the most difficult for many around the world, we went through a global epidemic, many were infected, so the best day of my life was because of overcoming this crisis with all my family members.

All my family members have contracted this disease, and we have all been isolated in different places. There were fears and great anxiety from each individual about himself and his family members, about whom nothing was known.

And the more severe the disease, the more fearful we became for our safety. We went through some bad days, but because of my young age and my strong immunity, the infection was not as strong as my father, he is a smoker, and he suffers from some diseases that affect immunity. So he suffers more from this disease.

I am the first to recover in my family members, I thank God for that, but really the most difficult period I went through when I was waiting for news about my family and the development of their condition.

So I really see it as the best day of my life when all my family members are healed and we are reunited under one roof. We were quite lucky. Many families went through such an experience and lost many of their family members.

Paragraph about the best day in my life

The best day of my life when I was able to recover from my foot injury and get back to playing football again. This is the best day of my life, because I was so afraid of losing my skills and not being able to play enough like I used to do before the injury and my broken leg.

But after training and physiotherapy, I was able to go back and play again, and I feel full of energy and vitality and there is no effect because of my feet.

This makes me very happy because my dreams and future ambitions are related to this sport that I practice and I would very much like to continue playing it and become professional in it, achieving great successes and gaining fame and money.

So it’s great that I can continue and still have the opportunity to do so.

Best day of my life essay for class 5

The best day of my life was last year when I caught a fish with my dad. My father took me fishing with him and prepared everything for this trip.

A long time ago, my father told me that he would take me fishing soon, and when the moment came, I was very happy.

We went to the lake and sat in the place where my father used to fish, and my father prepared everything and taught me how to fish and throw baits in the water.

I had some problems at first and my string got stuck in some rocks and tree branches, but in the end I was able to understand the cause and dealt well.

I was watching the hook well, as my father told me, and I found something that attracted me strongly, I felt a great shock and pulled it in my direction, I found great resistance and the fish jumped everywhere. At this moment I felt a feeling that I had never felt in all my life, an absolute happiness when I looked at the fish that I managed to catch.

A day in my life essay 100 words

The best day of my life was when I could draw my mom. Recently, I have been trying to learn which hobby I can do at home due to the global pandemic that prevents us from leaving the house, accompanying friends, playing sports or gatherings in general.

So for a while I have been watching many videos that teach drawing skills. I have already been able to apply the explanations to many famous personalities. But one day I woke up and wanted to try drawing a family member, and follow the instructions I learned.

I brought all the tools and sat in front of my mother without telling her what I’m doing. And when I showed her the drawing, she was amazed at how wonderful the drawing was, which encouraged me to color the picture to become more realistic.

I waited until evening, and when my father returned I made him see the painting. He did not believe that I was the one who drew it and he told me what I used, did I use a program that converts the image into a drawing, so we told him that I drew it. He was very happy and told me many nice words, and encouraged me to continue this hobby.

This day was very nice for me and made me feel that I can achieve something interesting and beautiful that makes others happy, especially that my mother asked me to photograph this drawing and published it on her own account, and it got many positive comments, all of which are encouragement and amazement.

I love this day so much and would like to learn more because of this day.

my wedding day was the best day of my life essay

My Wedding Day: The Best Day of My Life

Our wedding day finally arrived!  The day my wife (that STILL is strange to write) and I had been planning and eagerly awaiting for over one and a half years finally arrived.  A few weekends ago, we looked each other in the eyes, exchanged our vows, and began this amazing new chapter of our lives.   The two-day celebration flew by and to be honest, a lot of it is still a blur (which we were told by everyone would happen).   I am still honored that so many friends and family members took the time to celebrate with us.  Man, what an awesome few days.

My wedding day, wedding day essay, my wedding day essay, wedding day, love

I don’t want to use this article to detail every single minute of the wedding, every single detail, etc.  There are so many specific details and the commentary about each detail would turn that into one long/boring article. I’ll be happy to share that with you privately if interested though haha  So instead of describing every moment that occurred, I wanted to just tell you about my favorite moment of the day.   The  best moment of the wedding was the 30 minute time frame that began right before the ceremony at the church and ended with me breaking a glass and walking down the aisle for the first time as a married couple.  My wife and I decided a long time ago that the first time we wanted to see each other on the wedding day was when she was walking down the center aisle of the church towards the altar.   A little traditional, I know; but for us, there was something special about waiting until the ceremony to see each other for the first time.  In fact, she was so strict about it that I was banned from accessing her phone for the last 9 months because it had pictures of her wedding dress on it.

The church design did not make this easy.  To help all of you visualize the next few sentences, picture a semi-circle in your mind.  Instead of walking down right down the center aisle, we all had to enter the church from the far right  corner and walk towards the center aisle.  Once you reached the center aisle, you turned left and walked down the main aisle to the altar.   Does that make sense?  What made it difficult was that my wife walked for quiet some time before reaching the center aisle.   Both her and the priest told me that I was not allowed to look right and watch her approach the center aisle.  No, my head was locked looking forward because as she “quietly” reminded me the night before,  I WAS NOT allowed to see her before she began walking down that aisle.  Those were the longest couple of minutes of my life, especially because I could see everyone else turned towards her watching her approach the altar. But you know what, it was all worth it when she turned left and began walking towards the altar.  I finally got to see my beautiful bride, in her beautiful dress walking towards me, on the most important day of our lives.  It is impossible to describe, but that was the best feeling I have ever experienced/ Period. I just can’t put into words how excited I was at that moment in time.   For those of you who are married, I’m sure you know the feeling I am talking about.  That right there, that feeling, was my favorite part of the wedding day.  Everything else about the day was icing on the cake!

I was engaged for 18 months and the planning phase of the wedding required an insane amount of detail.   Why did it take me so long to finally write about the wedding then?  To be honest, I wasn’t exactly sure how to write about the wedding or our planning strategy.  Sure, there are a ton of financial topics to cover during the wedding.  If Lanny thinks he can write a lot about his house expenses , I can’t wait for his reality check when he one day gets engaged and starts planning a wedding.   I could tell you that we did X, Y, and Z during the planning phase of our wedding to save money.  Heck, I could have written that article 10 different times.  But it wouldn’t have meant anything if the plan to save money delivered poor results on the wedding day.   Now that the wedding is over and I have had some time to reflect, I finally figured out the strategy on how I wanted to share my experiences on this blog .  So here is a preview.  Think of the next paragraph as the back cover of a book.

The wedding process taught me a lot and I had many financial reality checks during the process.  In my head, I was going to come in, show the vendors who was boss, and negotiate every quote to the lowest price possible and squeeze those corporate suckers dry.   Then…I learned who really has the leverage in the wedding process. Trust me, it wasn’t us…one of the hundreds of couples that were getting married in Cleveland in the month of May.   But that doesn’t mean we quit trying to keep the costs of the wedding as low as possible. We found other ways.  In the end,  I learned a lot during this process and cannot wait to share my experiences with all of you and hope that it will benefit you one day.  Over the next few months, I will post a few different articles about a variety of topics.   I know there will be at least two articles that I am going to start writing soon.  One article will be titled something like “Why We Didn’t Use a Budget for our Wedding” and one will be titled something like “5 Ways We Reduced the Costs of Our Wedding.”  Lanny and I love “Top 5” list articles and it was only natural that a wedding produces at least one Top 5 list for the page haha  So everyone, stay tuned!  And please, if you think of better titles, do not be afraid to let me know in the comments section.

One other quick thing. I was hoping to keep all of this a surprise until this article.  I tried to be vague in my monthly dividend income; however, Investment Hunting cracked the case and was the first to figure out that I got married!  Thanks everyone for taking the time to read my story today.  I’m really looking forward to sharing more of my experiences with you about this special day in the coming months.

Congrats to you both! Good times ahead … D4s

Thanks D4s! Looking forward to the next chapter and can’t wait for it to get rolling.

Regardless of what articles you do or don’t write regarding your wedding, congratulations! Best to you and your wife!

Sincerely, ARB–Angry Retail Banker

Thanks ARB, much appreciated!! I’m really looking forward to writing about our experiences. It was quite the journey after all. Looking forward to the days ahead and what the rest of life has in store for us.

Congrats to you and your wife Bert! Our wedding was one of the happiest times in my life and things have only gotten better over the last 4 years.

Thias! Thank you very much. Glad to hear things are only looking up from here and my feeling on the day was shared among so many others out there. It truly is a one of a kind day and I wouldn’t have changed one thing about it. Hopefully our next four years will be as great as yours.

Congratulations Bert! All the best to you and your wife.

Thank you very much! I’ll your wishes along to her as well 🙂

I’m sorry for letting the cat out of the bag. Congratulations Bert on you marriage. My 20th anniversary is coming up next April. My advice, don’t go to bed angry, always say sorry even if it’s not your fault, and don’t fight to win arguments just to win. These three secrets have helped me out the past 20 years. And lastly, enjoy each other. Travel, entertain, live life together. Best of luck to you sir.

I was excited that you let the cat out of the bag, are you freaking kidding me. I couldn’t believe that you remembered my wedding was coming up and I was pumped you did. I’d like to say happy early 20th anniversary to you and your wife. That advice is amazing and I couldn’t agree more. Life is too short and honestly, who wants to spend it arguing with others. Especially when that other is the person closest to you. I love that your focus is living a happy life that makes sure you are enjoying as much of it as possible with the ones you love the most. Hopefully our first 20 years will be as great as yours have sounded and the next 20 years for you are even better than the first.

Take care!!

Congrats Bert! Should we get ready for a baby announcement soon too? 😀 😉 :p

Thanks Tawcan! and haha no. There won’t be any baby Diplomats any time soon. We want to have a couple of years of fun, a little traveling, and enjoyment before we settle down and start our family.

Congrats!!!! 😀

Thanks Stalfare!!

Congrats to you and your new wife. This is the best time as a newlywed though after seven years for me I still feel very fresh and happy in my marriage. Enjoy one another, learn from one another and just have fun. All the small stuff that inevitably comes up in any union will always pass. Just remember that. Happy times!!! Go Warriors!

Thanks Keith! It is amazing to hear that you feel that way after 7 years. It really gives me something to look forward to as we continue to grow our marriage and family one day. Thanks for the advice. I’ve tried to subscribe myself to the “Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff” mentality. IT just isn’t worth it, not at all.

I loved everything about this comment but the last couple of words. There, I must respectfully disagree. Go Cavs! Looks like we have ourselves a series here and hopefully it will continue to be a great battle and epic series. I guess we will know soon enough. We will have to put our heads together and think of a friendly wager for the rest of the series.

Thanks again for stopping by!

Congrats, bro! The bride looks so beautiful.

Best wishes to the two of you!

Thank you very much Vivianne! I’ll let her know 🙂

Congratulations on the wedding! What is in store for the honeymoon?

Thanks! We went away to a cabin in Chautauqua for a few days after the wedding. However, we are heading to Cabo Mexico for about 10 days in August. Can’t wait to get to the beach and relax! It will be much needed by then, that’s for sure. Thanks for asking.

Enjoy it! If I have any advice (married 8 years today) – it would be to spend that extra money, whether that is more days, an extra excursion, nicer place etc. I have 2 kids now and can’t imagine when I’ll have the opportunity to get back to Greece (where we ent)…I’d pay double for another 10 days.

Happy Belated Anniversary BII! I really appreciate the advice, especially as we start planning our honeymoon in August. You are absolutely right, make this the most memorable trip possible and make sure we check off everything we want to from the list. Because of you we are going to buy that extra excursion or go into town for that extra meal that we weren’t planning on it.

Congrats! May your marriage be as wonderful as your wedding. I hope that you continue to grow in love and regard for one another & that your net worth heads where you desire.

Thank you very much. That’s very kind of you.

Good for you guys! Have fun!

Congrats on the wedding, Bert. Wishing you and the Mrs the best.

Congratulations Bert! Please enjoy these great moments ahead 🙂

Congrats Bert! I’m happy for you 2. It’s gonna be awesome bro. You’re married now and I know you 2 are gonna just do it up! Have some fun, while building wealth… 🙂 Wishing you 2 many years of happiness. I’m in my 10 year now and I still love my wife more than anyone will ever know. Cheers!

Congrats to the both of you! MrsSLM and I tied the knot about 3 years ago, and we still think it’s weird to refer to each other as “husband” or “wife” haha!

haha Thank you! It is very strange using those terms. We were just getting used to using Fiance versus boyfriend/girlfriend and now we have to adjust again.

Congrats Bert! Wishing you and your wife every success and happiness! -DL

Congrats, guys!

Thanks No More Waffles!

congratulations! Best to you and your wife!

Thank you very much Pollie!

Congratulations! I always enjoy reading you and Lanny’s articles regardless of topic!

12 couples share their favourite wedding day memories

Naomi Ben Wedding

Your wedding day is one filled with highlights – even if it goes so fast, you can barely remember them all, but, at every wedding, there are one or two truly special moments, ones you’ll never, ever forget and, every time you recall them, your heart beats a little faster and your eyes shine.

Here are 12 favourite wedding day memories from real brides and grooms that will melt your heart.

"One of the most memorable moments from my wedding day was when my new husband and I ordered pizza at the hotel room after the wedding. We just ate pizza and laughed and talked about the events of the whole day. I'll never forget it – and pizza has never tasted as good as it did on the night of my wedding!" - Annabelle, Penrith

“Since we were ‘taking the plunge’ we decided to kick off our wedding day by doing it symbolically, too. We woke at 5am and headed to the beach to watch the sunrise and then we went for a swim. We knew that by sunset, we’d be husband and wife – and that the next time we watched a sunset, we’d do it as a married couple.” - Jess, Broadbeach

"One of the most memorable moments from my wedding day was when my husband and I were standing nervously at the altar during our very traditional and very serious ceremony. The priest put our hands together so we could hold hands and we instantly relaxed and felt at ease knowing that we were both going through this amazing experience together."

- Natalie, Coburg

“My mother passed away shortly before my wedding, but she left a letter with my sister and told her to give it to me on the morning of my wedding. It was a complete surprise and the best wedding gift I received. Her letter, which she hand wrote before her eyesight failed, was filled with loving words and the kind of advice only a mother can give and, though my mum wasn’t physically with me on my wedding day, I knew that she was standing right beside me throughout the day.” - Amanda, Griffith

“During the ceremony, I could see my wife starting to tear up. We had a bet that whoever cried first on our wedding day would have to wash the dishes for the first month of our marriage. I was so happy I won that bet!” - Rob, Dubbo

“I was really worried about our vows. My hubby-to-be insisted on writing his own and he refused to show them to me beforehand. He can be a bit goofy – and loves a Dad joke, so I was terrified of what he might say in front of everyone we knew. But he took them very seriously and wrote the most beautiful and heartfelt words.” - Krystal, Brisbane

“I was finally ready, and was looking at my dress and hair in the mirror when I could see something out of the corner of my eye. It was my Dad, standing quietly in the doorway, wiping away tears. He looked happy and sad and proud – all at the same time.” - Maria, North Adelaide

“I remember waking up on my wedding day and jumping out of bed. I was so excited to marry bursting with joy and excitement and the day couldn’t go fast enough because I knew that at the end of it all, I’d go to bed married to the love of my life and my best friend that evening.” - Sara, Tamworth

"I didn't have one specific favourite moment, but what I remember most was how much fun we had. Nobody, including my husband and myself, took anything too seriously and we didn't get too stressed about very much at all, even when, the night before, our son decided to use our wedding cake as a track for his toy cars! We just added it to the cake topper." - Kate, Victor Harbor

“That first moment the MC introduced us as Mr and Mrs was pretty amazing. We both tried to be serious – like a married couple – but we couldn’t help ourselves and couldn't stop laughing as we walked into the reception !” - Jennifer, Hobart

“There were so many memorable moments on my wedding day, but one of my favourites was putting on my wedding dress. I’d tried it on before, but there was something special about slipping it on on the day of the wedding. I’ve worn it several times since then – just for fun when I’m alone at home and reminiscing – but there’s no more specially feeling like putting on your wedding dress on your wedding day .” - Erin, Mildura

“My heart was racing so fast before I walked down the aisle, I thought I would faint. I was so nervous, I was shaking. Every single person in the Church was looking at me, but then my Dad took my arm in his and everyone suddenly disappeared. It was literally like a scene from a movie. Everything slowed down and went quiet, and all I could see was Rob at the top of the aisle and, somehow, magically, I just floated up the aisle - without tripping, which was my greatest fear. Once he took my hand from my father’s, I felt completely at ease." - Lara, Daylesford

Why My Wedding Day Wasn’t The Happiest Day Of My Life

Why My Wedding Day Wasn’t The Happiest Day of My Life

They say that your wedding day is the best day of your life. That brides are so blissfully happy they don’t notice the small details, the little things that don't go to plan. But, I did notice and I wasn't blissfully happy. Instead, I felt guilty.

I felt guilty for having negative thoughts on what was supposed to be the happiest day of our lives. I felt guilty for wanting to complain on the day to the suppliers who hadn’t done as we had requested, especially after saving for three years to afford their services. Most of all, I felt guilty for not seeming happy and obviously worrying. It was not that I wasn’t present on the day, it was more that I was too present.

Weeks before the day itself I knew things weren't right. I had started to worry about what could and would go wrong, about forgetting something and panicking that the wedding wouldn’t be unique and creative enough to stand out from others.

I blame Pinterest. I knew the emphasis should be on celebrating with your loved ones but, Pinterest blurred my vision. For all its helpful inspiration it offered so many overwhelming choices and showcased so many beautiful ceremonies that I began to question all of my decisions. I felt that couldn’t afford to recreate everything that we loved.

I also felt acutely aware of how much money we and our families were contributing towards the wedding. Despite wanting to keep it as affordable as possible our elusive dream of an English country garden celebration demanded a lot of money from us all.

Why My Wedding Day Wasn’t The Happiest Day of My Life

My anxiety soared two days before the wedding when three people pulled out. One was a +1 so that was more of a seating-plan annoyance than anything but the other two were our friends that we had wanted to be there. They both had understandable reasons for not making it and though we knew it wasn’t their fault, I couldn’t help feeling sad and disappointed, emotions that I didn’t expect to feel before our big day.

This feeling rapidly intensified, I began panicking that more people would drop out on the day and that our already modest wedding (of about 90 people) would start to look embarrassingly small for the venue. At the time, my (logical) other-half reminded me that it was quality over quantity and why did it matter if we had a small wedding anyway? Irrationally, an image of me walking out to a pathetic looking audience in a grand room kept playing in my mind.

On the morning of the wedding, problems started trundling towards us thick and fast. I woke up groggy after being kept awake into the early hours by a noisy family in the hotel room upstairs. Then we were late getting to the venue for our hair and makeup thanks to slow-moving family members and a confused SatNav. Then the makeup bags disappeared, once these had been located (in the groom’s car), the florist arrived to deliver the bad news that we hadn’t ordered enough centrepieces for the tables. Those previous worries of mine rushed back but so as not to dampen the day or upset my bridesmaids I tried to stay calm and work out a solution. In the end, we made new centrepieces using elements from the others, making everything much smaller than originally planned. I told myself it was a disappointment but not a huge issue in the grand scheme of things.

The ceremony was a nervous blur but went well (no jilting), as did the photographs in the sunny weather. In fact, that part of the day, with the sun-drenched drinks reception and lawn games in the walled garden, was one of my favourite moments. But this glee was short-lived as when the food was served I noticed some of the dishes weren't what we had ordered. The meal looked so cheap and lacklustre, which made me feel embarrassed. I still resent paying as much as we did for it. Against my new husband’s wishes, I complained to the head waiter who seemed shocked but tried his best to rectify the situation.

After dinner, I realised we'd unknowingly booked an incredibly amateur DJ. He played one song three times and tripped the sound fuse box three times, sending the place into a power cut each time. Looking back it is quite funny but at the time I felt mortified. There is nothing more tragic than seeing your guests leave the quiet dancefloor when moments before they were laughing and joking as they swayed to Sean Paul.

Ultimately, I believe it was the expectations that screwed me over. I think I put too much pressure on it to be a perfect day and myself to be the perfect, happy bride when actually, in reality, an event of this magnitude rarely runs smoothly and people feel all sorts of emotions at weddings. Some would say the disappointment I felt when things went wrong is a completely understandable emotion when you have worked and saved so hard for something and certainly not something to feel guilty about.

Really we were lucky that it was never anything too major that went wrong. We had no massive dramas or family issues and mostly it was just frustration over smaller details that guests didn’t notice anyway. Looking back, there were so many happy moments that I just wish I could do it all over again knowing what to expect and to relax, ignore the problems and enjoy it more.

And to perhaps sack the DJ for a Spotify playlist.

I got engaged to my Grubhub driver after he delivered my lunch

  • Hannah Bullerman rarely used food delivery services but ordered GrubHub when she was sick one day.
  • She went to the lobby to pick up her lunch and was instantly attracted to the Grubhub driver.
  • The couple is now engaged and has booked the wedding for next year.

Insider Today

This as-told-to essay is based on a conversation with Hannah Bullerman. It has been edited for length and clarity.

I woke with a migraine one day in March of 2022. I have a strong work ethic, but felt too sick to do my job as an X-ray technician.

A few hours later, I didn't want to make lunch because I wasn't feeling well. I rarely used food delivery services but ordered chicken wings and fried pickles because I had a Grubhub coupon on my phone.

The simple decision to order comfort food changed my life.

I live in an apartment building where deliveries can be tricky because of the security system . So, when the driver arrived, he called to let me know he was there.

I was embarrassed because I didn't look my best

I walked down the stairs, wearing a T-shirt, sweatpants, and a pair of sloth slippers. It was not a fabulous look.

Two thoughts entered my mind when the delivery guy handed over my lunch. "This man is handsome and cute," I told myself.

Next, I thought, "You're not looking very cute right now." I was rather embarrassed.

The moment I saw his face, I thought he looked sweet, with a warm smile and kind eyes.

I apologized for the confusion over the security system and gave him a good tip. I retrieved my food and scurried upstairs. I didn't need this handsome guy to see me any longer than necessary.

The moment I got into my apartment, the food became an afterthought. I was taken aback. I had a visceral feeling in my stomach that I should reach out to the driver.

Related stories

I had his number. "Maybe I should text him," I thought. "Or maybe I shouldn't." Then I thought, "What's the harm in doing it? But what should I say?" I didn't want to come off as headstrong or creepy. I wanted to avoid anything that could be offensive if he had a girlfriend or wasn't interested.

Alec's work as a delivery driver was a side gig

It took a bit of brain power and I was pacing. But I came up with something I hoped might be quirky and cute. "I hope you have a day as nice as your face," I texted.

I flung the phone on my bed, not wanting to look at it. But he replied. He introduced himself as Alec Hoffman and asked if looking me up on social media was OK.

"I think it's only appropriate to grab your Snapchat or Instagram," he wrote.

It was thoughtful because most people would go right ahead anyway.

We communicated on Snapchat . Alec, two years older than me at 27, said he worked in home care for veterans . Grubhub was a side gig.

Our first date was at a bar and grill . Then we went bowling. We chatted about everything and nothing, all at the same time. There was a connection because we like similar music. We also love card games like cribbage.

Soon, we spent time with each other three or four times a week. We started to develop this little life together.

It feels as if meeting Alec was divine intervention

Alec proposed on October 18, 2023. He went down on one knee while strolling along a boardwalk before dinner. We're getting married in May next year.

I feel as if meeting Alec was divine intervention. As we were getting to know each other, we would talk about concerts we'd been to on the same date. He lived 10 minutes away from me, but we'd never run into each other.

We met at the time when we were supposed to. I'm so glad he brought my delivery that day.

The Spectacle of the Ambani Wedding Event Reveals India’s Inequality

Nine people in fancy clothing stand on a stage, clapping, while spotlights shine down.

By Sonia Faleiro

Ms. Faleiro is an author from India.

Rihanna, Mark Zuckerberg, bejeweled elephants and 5,500 drones. Those were some of the highlights of what is likely the most ostentatious pre-wedding ceremony the modern world has ever seen.

On a long weekend in early March, members of the global elite gathered to celebrate the impending nuptials of the billionaire business titan Mukesh Ambani’s youngest son, Anant, and Radhika Merchant. Monarchs, politicians and the ultrawealthy, including Bill Gates and Ivanka Trump, descended on an oil refinery city in the western Indian state of Gujarat for an event so extravagant, you’d be forgiven for thinking it was, well, a wedding. But that will take place in July. For the long windup to the big day, some of Bollywood’s biggest stars, though invited as guests, took to the stage to sing and dance in what amounted to a bending of the knee to India’s most powerful family.

Watching the event, I couldn’t help thinking of the 1911 durbar, or royal reception, when King George V was proclaimed emperor of India. Once India won its independence from Britain in 1947, it committed itself to becoming a democratic welfare state — an audacious experiment that resulted in what is now the world’s largest democracy. But in advance of this year’s general election, expected to begin in April, the Ambani-Merchant matrimonial extravaganza shows us where true power in India now lies: with a handful of people whose untrammeled wealth and influence have elevated them to the position of India’s shadow leaders.

It’s difficult to imagine the Ambani-Merchant wedding event in an India that isn’t ruled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It’s true that the Ambanis have been wealthy for years now and that accusations of favorable treatment from government authorities are not unique to this family or the Modi government. But no other prime minister in India’s history has been so openly aligned with big business, and never before has the concentration of wealth been more apparent. India’s richest 1 percent now own more than 40 percent of the country’s wealth, according to Oxfam. The country has the world’s largest number of poor, at 228.9 million . And according to a newly published study looking at 92 low- and middle-income countries, India had the third-highest percentage of “zero food” children — babies between 6 months and 23 months old who had gone a day or more without food other than breast milk at the time they were surveyed. Oxfam has described this new India as the “survival of the richest.”

For the uberwealthy, this presents a no-holds-barred opportunity to exert their power and influence. In 2017, Mr. Modi introduced a fund-raising mechanism called electoral bonds to allow unlimited anonymous donations to political parties. In the five years that followed, the prime minister’s Bharatiya Janata Party received $635 million in contributions through such bonds, 5.5 times as much as its closest rival, the Congress Party. The 2019 Indian general elections cost $8.6 billion, surpassing the estimated $6.5 billion spent on the 2016 U.S. presidential and congressional elections.

Analysis by three independent media organizations in India published on March 14 revealed that a company called Qwik Supply Chains purchased bonds in the scheme worth $50 million. One of the company’s three directors, reporters later uncovered, is also a director at several subsidiaries of Reliance, Mukesh Ambani’s megacompany. A spokesperson for Reliance said that Qwik is not a Reliance subsidiary and did not respond to further questioning from Reuters . The Indian Supreme Court has since struck down the electoral bond mechanism, calling it unconstitutional , but the delay in addressing the matter has most likely come too late to change the outcome of the forthcoming election, which is widely considered all but certain to go in Mr. Modi’s favor.

And judging by the omnipresence of Mr. Modi’s image — the state-funded publicity exercises focused on exalting him, the constant advertisements in newspapers and on TV, his image plastered on billboards and life-size cutouts everywhere from train stations to public parks — even those who wish to vote for other candidates might be forgiven for thinking there are none. With the help of a small group of business tycoons, led by Mr. Ambani, the prime minister has dominated the Indian media landscape. Since Mr. Modi came to power, Mr. Ambani has invested heavily in the media and now owns more than 70 outlets, including India’s biggest media conglomerate, which are followed by 800 million weekly viewers. Many of these outlets have been trumpeting Mr. Modi’s credentials and heaping praise on him.

Mr. Ambani has been relentless in expressing his gratitude to Mr. Modi for working in step with Reliance. In January, Mr. Ambani hailed Mr. Modi as the “most successful prime minister in India’s history.” Later that month, the tycoon’s family traveled to Ayodhya for the inauguration of the Ram Mandir temple complex, which is being built on the highly contentious grounds of a functioning mosque that was destroyed by a Hindu mob in 1992. The construction of the Ram Mandir is the epitome of Mr. Modi’s tenure, which has been defined by a violent and divisive Hindu majoritarianism. Mr. Ambani donated $300,000 toward the temple costs.

Mr. Modi was reportedly not present during the Ambani wedding event, leading to speculation on social media that he wanted to avoid further accusations of cronyism in an election year. But his hand was evident. Anant Ambani told the press that he in part chose his family’s hometown Jamnagar as his pre-wedding venue to honor the prime minister’s “Wed in India” call for young Indians to marry at home rather than abroad. Jamnagar is the location of Mukesh Ambani’s oil refinery, which is the largest in the world. And in a brazen misuse of public resources, the government temporarily turned the city’s small domestic airport into a designated international airport, clearing the way for guests to land their private aircraft. The government airport was expanded, staff numbers were increased , and the Indian Air Force deployed additional military personnel — all in the service of one event for one family.

Some Indians viewed the arrival of the world’s elite on their shores as a sign of their country’s growing prominence in the world. The occasion was treated as a national event, with “breaking news” and live feeds of the arrival and then departure of every celebrity, of the more than 1,000 guests who stayed in luxury tents and were provided with makeup artists and sari drapers and were reportedly served 2,500 dishes and of the lion-shaped diamond brooch on Anant Ambani’s suit and his Richard Mille wristwatch, worth an estimated $1 million, which even Mr. Zuckerberg appeared to covet .

But what viewers saw that long weekend in March wasn’t India at all but the playground of an oligarch. The festivities took place weeks before a national election, at a time when India’s democracy is teetering on an edge. Violence against Muslims, Christians and Dalits has been normalized. The harassment of journalists, the incarceration of human rights activists and police violence against protesters have all but wrenched the country from the path chosen by its founding leaders, who wished the people of India to enjoy a “sovereign, socialist, secular, democratic republic.” In 2022, Freedom House, the nonprofit organization that tracks democratic governance, downgraded India from “free” to “partly free.” This status remains unchanged.

The Ambanis are entitled to spend their money on whatever they want (except, perhaps, on electoral bonds). And this latest celebration, while lavish, wasn’t entirely atypical in India, where weddings are viewed as an opportunity to demonstrate status. The giddy young couple at the center of the spectacle are charming: Ms. Merchant is a trained classical dancer; her fiancé is fond of animals. It would be churlish not to celebrate their happiness.

But if the 1911 Delhi durbar was a symbol of British imperial power, then the Ambani pre-wedding event in Jamnagar symbolized the rise of Mr. Modi’s oligarchs. And if these few are thriving in their symbiotic relationship with the Indian prime minister, it comes at the cost of the nation’s experiment with building a democratic welfare state. That’s nothing to celebrate.
