Motivation Letter Tips

motivation letter utrecht university

Here we will share with you some tips on writing a motivation letter.

While preparing your application profile, one of the essential tasks is to write a motivation letter to support your application for a job, University admission or internship. In order to achieve your goals, you should approach the matter responsibly. The letter of motivation is a crucial document in your application, so it must be tailored toward the particular program, job, scholarship, internship and ect., mentioning all important factors that differentiate you from the other candidates. You should clearly understand, in which way, you distinguish yourself from others with the same education and diploma.

To begin with, you have to make a list of the programs you are applying for, go into details about each of them and evaluate your professional compliance with the chosen programs. Prepare a list of deadlines and make sure you have enough time to collect all the necessary documents and write a motivation letter. You need at least 2-3 month.

Important, for each program you should write another motivation letter. Of course, you can leave the same basis of the letter, but you have to make it very specific for each program.

Start with a plan, take your time and write down all the necessary facts about your character trades, education, results of your professional and extracurricular activities and etc. Write down some of your main ideas, important points you would like to approach and then enrich their content. Providing a short preview of your letter, make your goal clear.

Ask yourself 10 questions:

  • Why this program, university, internship is interesting and suitable for you?
  • Which is your professional goal?
  • How this program will help you to reach your targets?
  • Which of the offered courses are particularly beneficial for you in purchasing your professional goals? Make sure you are well informed
  • Why do you think you are the right person for the chosen program?
  • What knowledge and skills gathered in your previous education will be useful?
  • Have you already gain any relevant professional experience?
  • Have you taken part in volunteer projects?
  • What do you estimate your personality? (emphasize your strong points but be realistic)
  • Why do you want to study/have internship/work in a chosen country?

Afterwards, think over the structure of your letter. The first impression always counts, it is important the way your letter looks, the way it is organized and structured in paragraphs, the font size and the length of the letter (usually 1 page). You can write several letters, then combine them or just choose the one. Present your letter in a professional format, style and grammar. Ask native speakers to check it for mistakes. Avoid all kind of platitudes, flowery phrases and flattery.

Quick tips:

  • Don’t repeat your CV
  • Make sure that you don’t mention new items in your motivation letter which are not mentioned in your CV
  • Be as concrete as possible
  • Don’t copy your motivation letter from others
  • Make sure you use a “serious” e-mail address
  • Formulate your letter positive and future-oriented
  • Ask your friends, a teacher or someone who has already done such an application for advice.

Always believe in yourself!

Despite the situation determined by the Covid19 pandemic, we are confirming some of the planned activities of the "King Hamad" Chair in Inter-religious dialogue and peaceful co-existence. The Summer school in Religions and peaceful coexistence will be held in the second week of February 2021: for those that will not be able to join us in person, the lessons will be registered and transmitted in streaming. It is possible to be admitted until the end of October 2020. Three preliminary meetings related to the "interactive workshops" are organized during the months of October, November, December (also as a functional and symbolical "bridge" between Summer and Winter!). As soon as possible Sapienza will publish the call for the Summer school of next year ("true" Summer 2021!)

young people according to working life needs and expectations, which are usually based on market economy requirements (Sahlberg 2006; Tervasmäki & Tomperi 2018). This is why the educational system needs reforming. According to the latest IPCC report (IPCC 2018), we have only 12 years to make changes in order to restrain the climate change remarkably. This raises the question whether there is still time to start changing education from day-care and primary schools, or should education be able to wake up the young people in secondary and higher education as soon as possible. This article aims to discuss how to embed the posthumanistic approach into higher education, its values, structures and processes, including its curricula. This involves changes on a strategic level, such as changes in strategic decision-making, commitment at the administrative level and the value basis, as well as changes on the operational level, such Introduction

Karen Barad’s (2007) concept of intra-action and Rosi Braidotti’s (2013) nomadic posthumanism are employed in this article to problematise the notion of educational research for sustainable futures. In rejecting the hierarchical dualism of Cartesian objectivism, which places the human above the non-human, I challenge the stable selfcontained subject that presuppose a dialectical relation to the other on which most educational research is premised. Instead, in drawing on the work of Barad and Braidotti, subjectivity is posited as always in the process of becoming-other through the actualisation of new relations. In light of such a subjectivity, I consider the implications for educational research for sustainable futures. Furthermore, four avenues of thought are proposed on how educational research informed by posthumanism could contribute towards sustainable futures.

The 2021 edition of the Summer School “Studies in Sufism” will take place in the form of online seminars, from 26th to 31st July, and will represent a unique opportunity to listen to different scholars and discuss with them the doctrine of al-insān al-kāmil. The “Universal Man” or, as some would translate it, the “Perfect Human” is one of the fundamental and main topics of Ibn ʻArabī’s teachings, if not the main one, and one which has influenced all subsequent generations of Muslim mystics and intellectuals.

The article devoted to methods, results and evaluation of Summer schools on teaching methods for students of textile specialities in the frame of German-Uzbek international scientific project Summer schools are academic sessions held during the summer, chiefly for supplementary study where the lecturers give presentations and hold seminars on advanced topics in a field. Summer schools are often organized at a national or international level. They offer a program for academic teachers or other professional workers wishing to round out their professional or general education. Summer school sessions usually take a couple of days during university vacations. The project " Modernity and tradition: Uzbek Textile Heritage as a Cultural and Economic Resource " funded by the Volkswagen foundation (director of the project: Prof. Dr. Gabriele Mentges, technische universitaet dortmund, Germany) included two summer schools (Bukhara, 2010; Tashkent, 2011). They were titled " Teaching via Research " (2010) and " Green Design: Fashion – Sustainability-Green Fashion " (2011). The main aim of the Schools was to give the Uzbek participants of the project 1 the opportunities to learn more about modern teaching methods and to gain new insights in their disciplines (Education, Engineering, technology, economics, design in Textiles field). These opportunities met with the participants' wishes to know more about specific instructional strategies that focused on practice as well as effectively based on research, to get further training and information on new developments in the field of textile engineering and design, to meet colleagues and to exchange ideas in multidisciplinary teams and to benefit from the international perspective of the teaching team. The idea of the teaching team was to offer programs with a conceptual content that can be applied to real-world classroom situations. (Pic.1) The invitation, the cooperation with and the support by the rectorates of the relevant universities, a serial of five days of teaching lessons, pleasant and well equipped classrooms formed the frame of each summer school. The beginning was marked by an official opening by the rectorate; at the end of the summer schools the participants were awarded a certificate of participation presented during the farewell dinners. The lessons themselves included theoretical inputs 2 , work phases, excursions, group discussions and presentations (Gross 2 Alternatives and supplements to lectures: e.g. self study, learning in groups, project-based learning Republican Scientific-technical Conference " Actual problems of development of light industry in Uzbekistan on the basis of innovations " Section " Problems of professional education in innovative prccesses " Tashkent institute for textile and light industry (TITLI)

Instructions:

If your transcript of records does not state your final/temporary CGPA and grading scale, we ask you to upload the following document(s). If your transcript of records does hold this information you can upload your transcript of records again.

  • An official document with the grading system of your university/college. This may also be a document written by yourself with a web link to your university's grading scale, as long as it is an official source. This information has to be in Dutch/English.
  • If your final/current CGPA is not mentioned on your transcript of records, please upload an official statement from the institution with your final/current CGPA.

Clinical Psychology

The internship is an essential component of the Master's programme in which you will make your first steps as a scientist practitioner. You will apply scientific knowledge in a professional environment and will further develop yourself into a clinical practitioner. During the internship you learn to relate theory to practice, acquire new skills, and learn how to reflect on yourself and your personal development.   We apply a 'bring your own' policy, which means that you are responsible for finding an internship placement yourself. It is essential that you start looking for a suitable internship in time. The following information may be helpful.

What are my options?

Before you start looking for an internship you need to know what your options are. Read the requirements and different options carefully.

Are there different kinds of internships?

There are two types of internships within the Clinical Master’s programme: a clinical internship and a research internship. If you want to become a clinical therapist you will have to do a clinical internship.

Clinical internship

The clinical internship concentrates on mental healthcare for adults. The internship work needs to consist of psychodiagnostic work and treatment. In a clinical internship you will learn to connect the scientific literature to treatment, diagnostics or psychopathology with clinical practice. Examples of eligible internship organisations include mental healthcare institutions, University clinics, hospitals (e.g. medical psychology departments) and rehabilitation centers. During your placement you will be supervised by a local supervisor for about one hour per week, such as a mental healthcare psychologist, psychotherapist, clinical psychologist or an experienced psychologist with clinical expertise.

Research internship

The goal of a research internship is to become acquainted with as many phases of the research process as possible. You should have an active part in research currently conducted, partly on an independent basis. To that end, you actively participate in an ongoing research project within mental healthcare, at a research institute studying this area (e.g. Arq/ centrum 45, hospitals, rehabilitation centres), or at the university. You develop competencies connected to different phases of the empirical cycle, such as designing a study, collecting data, analysing data and communicating to the scientific community (e.g. a literature review) or patients (e.g. a patient folder for the acquisition of participants).

What are the requirements for an internship?

Requirements for a clinical internship.

  • The internship consists of 560 hours;
  • The organisation of the placement should have a primary focus on improving the mental health of adult individuals or groups;
  • The organisation offers evidence-based treatment and/or therapy according to validated psychotherapeutic approaches (e.g., CBT, CT, schema therapy) and/or standardized protocols based on the ICD-11/DSM-5;
  • The placement organisations should be relatively large, enabling the student to learn from different qualified academic professionals – mainly psychologists, but other disciplines as well. One-man practices are therefore not allowed;
  • Sufficient and expert supervision (one hour a week) should be available. The local supervisor should be an academically trained psychologist. Other backgrounds are possible but must be approved by the internship coordinator;
  • The activities should be on Master’s level (f.e. observing/ conducting intake sessions/ psychodiagnostics assessment and being involved in (parts of) treatment) and should enable students to make a connection between (academic) knowledge and practice;
  • The student has to perform clinical work as independently as possible. The student is not to simply tag along or just observe;
  • At least 60% of the student's activities should be client-related, including direct contact with the organisation's target group. The remaining 40% of the student's time should be devoted to activities such as reporting and studying literature.

Requirements for a research internship

  • The organisation of the placement should have a primary focus on improving or promoting the (mental) health of adult individuals or groups. It is also possible to do internships in organisations that conduct research related to biological, psychological or social factors affecting health;
  • The placement organisations should be relatively large, enabling the student to learn from different qualified academic professionals – mainly psychologists, but other disciplines as well. The student has to get the opportunity to make a contribution to multiple research projects ;
  • The research group consist of at least 3 researchers.
  • Sufficient and expert supervision (one hour a week) should be available. The local supervisor should be a professional with a PHD. Other backgrounds are possible but must be approved by the internship coordinator;
  • The activities should be practical as well as intellectual and should enable students to make a connection between (academic) knowledge and research practice;
  • Because research is the focus of the internship, the internship assignment should be substantial as well as diverse. Aim of this assignment is to connect theory and practice. Think of giving a presentation about a small literature review or writing a protocol for ethical approval.
  • Students will perform clinical and/or project-based work as independently as possible. They are not to simply tag along or just observe;

When do I start my internship?

Internship in the netherlands.

Preferably you start the internship at the beginning of the first semester (September) or the beginning of the second semester (February). However, we do not apply a deadline by which date you must have started your internship. This means that you are able to start your internship at any time. The exact start date depends on the internship organization and the position they offer.

If you have found an internship in the Netherlands, you can start at any given time throughout the year. You will have courses in block 1, 2 & 3, assuming you pick the courses of our programme (Loss and psychotrauma trauma, Anxiety and related disorders). This means that you will have to do your internship part time if you start between September - April. Preferably 3 days a week for 6 months. When you finish your courses, you will have more time and can decide to do your internship full time.

See also the schedule information .

Internship outside the Netherlands

you can start your internship as of block 4 (24 April 2023)* because you will have to finish your courses before you can move to the country of the internship. For this reason, most international students start around April with a full time internship in order to graduate within the year.

Another option is to pick other elective courses (outside our program) in the first semester in order to finish the courses before the start of the second semester (beginning of February). With this option you can start around February/March with your internship.

*assuming you pick the courses of our programme: Loss and psychotrauma trauma, Anxiety and related disorders. Also see the schedule information .

What are the possibilities for international students?

Clinical Internships in Dutch professional institutions are only available for students who sufficiently master the Dutch language (C2 level), because the clinical work and reporting has to be performed with Dutch speaking patients. International students lacking this ability, but wanting to do a clinical internship have to seek possibilities in their home countries or English speaking countries.

Clinical Skills Lab

Clinical Skills Lab (CSL) is a clinical internship opportunity within the faculty for international students. In the CSL, under the supervision of faculty members, you practice clinical skills such as conducting intakes, psychodiagnostic assessment, and CBT techniques. The skills are mainly practiced on each other or on someone from your own social environment. Please note, there are a limited number of places available for the Clinical Skills Lab. Not every international student will be able to do their clinical internship at the CSL. If you want more information about the CSL, please send an email to the internship coordinator who will refer you to the coordinator of the CSL.

We have a limited number of opportunities for students who want to do a research internship at our faculty. They will join our research skills lab. Of course, it is also possible to find a research internship externally. To join our research skills lab, you don’t have to speak Dutch. English will be the language of communication.

When should I start looking for an internship?

Dutch students can start their internship either in the first or second semester. We strongly advise Dutch students to begin the internship immediately in September (the first semester). You can also start in the second semester, but from experience we know that placements at that time are scarce and the competition is fierce. Internships abroad should be scheduled in the second semester, after the coursework has been completed.

It is vital that you start orientating for an internship position in time; preferably as early as February or March before the start of the programme. Unfortunately, you don't know whether you will be admitted to the master's until the beginning of June. The admission process to the master cannot be accelerated. Therefore, in case you have an interview for a potential internship before you know whether you are admitted to the master, we advise you to discuss this matter with the organisation. The Dutch organisations with whom we have a partnership will start recruiting new interns after the beginning of June.

International students should start looking for an internship while they are still in their home country as this makes the search considerably easier.

How do I find an internship?

 As mentioned before, you are responsible for obtaining a suitable place to conduct your internship. English-language internships are very scarce in the Netherlands and if you do not master the Dutch language sufficiently you are urged to find a suitable place for doing your clinical internship in the country you speak the language of.

The following steps may be helpful in the search for an internship:

Step 1. Think carefully about what you want

To find out, you can ask yourself a few questions:

  • What do I want to do and learn during an internship? Do you want to gain clinical work experience or maybe gain more experience in research?
  • Which kind of challenges would I like to work on? Think of the courses in your study that you found very interesting and explore your options.
  • In what kind of organisation within this workfield would I like to work later? What kind of target group would you like to work with? For example would you like to work in a (mental) hospital or in an addiction center?

Step 2. Select internship possibilities that match your personal preferences

There are various ways to find an internship placement. You can use your own network or look for interesting organisations online. When you are conditionally accepted to the master, you will get access to Blackboard. Here you will find the login details for our internship database. Unfortunately, almost all our vacancies for clinical internships on our database are for Dutch-speaking students. Please be aware that the internship positions on our internship database are not sufficient for the number of students looking for an internship. We therefore advise you to also try other ways to find an internship.

You can also take a look at the general page of the UU about internships  for some extra tips.

If you are student member you can also use the database of SPS-NIP .

Use online search sites such as 'Indeed'.

Step 3. Write your motivation letter and CV

You can apply for an internship with your curriculum vitae (CV) and motivation letter. Remember that an internship institution will base its response on your letter and CV, so pay a lot of attention to that. If you want to use LinkedIn, make sure your personal page is up to date.   Do you not have a CV yet, and have you never written an application/motivation letter? Take a look at the (online) workshops of Career Services .

Step 4. Distribute and follow- up on your motivation letter and CV

Dream big. Send letters to different organisations. Email again if you don't get a response. Or call the organisation and try to organise a personal meeting. Finding an internship takes time and a bit of guts. But you can do this!

Step 5. Prepare for a job interview

You can come for an interview, that’s good news! Prepare yourself well. Make sure you can tell why you are interested in this internship in this specific organisation and what your added value is. For extra tips, take a look at the (online) workshops of Career Services about this subject.

Step 6. And then…?

If you found an internship (great!), approval of the Internship Coordinator is required. Send an e-mail to [email protected] . If you have already access to blackboard, you can fill in the ‘checklist new internship’ you will find on blackboard.

If you are rejected after the job interview, ask for feedback and incorporate this in your preparation for the next interview. You may be more successful next time!

Academic Program and Curriculum

What is the difference between ucr and traditional dutch bachelor programs.

Traditional programs often take a monodisciplinary route that teach you to specialize in one field, such as biology, history, or economics. At UCR, we find this too restrictive. We offer a broad program with an international outlook, fully taught in English, where you can combine various disciplines that you may not have been able to combine elsewhere. As you gain knowledge from several disciplines, and build a foundation in writing, presenting, and researching skills, you will be able to approach a problem from many different sides. This is combined with small-scale and intensive classes, a close-knit community, and close contact with Faculty, which allows you to develop as a student, as a professional, and as a person.

What is the difference between UCR and UCU/other University Colleges?

UCR is one of the few University Colleges in the Netherlands that still offers a traditional Liberal Arts & Sciences program, now with an added element of Engineering. You will not have to commit to following a specific theme, and are left relatively free in choosing your courses from our four different departments. UCR is among the more affordable of UCs, and offers guaranteed housing for your entire study period on an inner-city campus. However, we believe the easiest way to tell if UCR is the place for you is visiting our campus.

Your program is very broad, will I learn enough to continue my studies?

Yes, you can construct your program in such a way that it will allow you entrance to some of the best Master programs in the world, both monodisciplinary and interdisciplinary. Furthermore, since UCR also focuses on teaching you the proper academic skills, you will always be able to quickly and efficiently gain the necessary knowledge you may not have. As one of our Alumni says:

“Even though at times I do not possess the same background knowledge as my fellow students, for example, this has never stopped me from mastering the subject at hand.”

What is the teaching style used at UCR?

We like to give our professors the freedom to develop their courses in the way they prefer, allowing them to combine several ways of teaching and creating a unique learning environment in the process. One class you may follow a general lecture, the next class you may participate in a student-led discussion, and another class you might peer-review a fellow student’s paper. This allows for a diverse and interactive way of learning.

What is the workload of your program?

UCR is an intensive program – where regular programs state a workload of 40 hours a week, UCR indicates a workload of 56 hours. This is divided in class time, which is 16 hours a week, and self-study hours, which amounts to 10 hours per course. These hours are not always reached, and depends on the time of year (finals are busier than the first few weeks), type of course (some people are more skilled in art history than calculus and vice versa), and the effort you put in (you may spend more time on your Major courses than on your requirements).

What if I have dyslexia/any learning difficulties?

If you struggle with dyslexia or another learning difficulty, and you can prove this to UCR, then we will make individual arrangements with you.

What happens if I fail a course? Do you allow resits of assignments?

We do not allow resits of assignments. We use a system called continuous assessment, where rather than taking one large exam that counts for 100% at the end of the semester, you will have at least 5 different assignments ranging from papers to exams to presentations. This means you can always make up for a lower grade with another assignment, and it allows for your professors and Tutor to monitor your progress and provide the necessary support.

Should you fail a course, you will have to make up for the missing credits. This can be done by doing a Summer or Winter course. If the course you failed was a requirement, such as Statistics, you will have to redo the course. You will also be put on academic probation – this means you discuss with your Tutor and the Senior Tutor what happened, you set up a plan to improve your academic standing, and sign a contract that you will follow that plan. Throughout the semester, you will regularly meet with your Tutor to discuss your progress.

What are the steps I need to take to apply?

In order to apply for University College Roosevelt, you will first have to register in Studielink, after which you can access OSIRIS. Here, you can fill out the official application form and hand in the necessary documents. Afterwards, your documents will be reviewed, and based on that result, you might be invited for an interview. Based on this interview, which is done online, UCR decides whether to invite you to study here. This whole process, from registering in Studielink up to the decision, usually takes under two months.

For more details on the documents you need to provide and specific steps, please look at our Applying page.

Do you require certain grades or courses?

Because we are an English-speaking institution, we require a certain level of English. If you are a native speaker or did an English-based high school program such as the IB, then you will not have to provide extra proof of proficiency such as English proficiency exams or certain grades.

We also require every student to have done at least some Math during high school, especially for Science and Engineering Majors. Other than that, our introductory courses do not require any previous knowledge, meaning we do not look for specific profiles.

Is my diploma from this country admissible?

Your diploma has to be equal to the Dutch pre-university level diploma (vwo) for you to be admissible. You can find a specific list of International Diplomas here . If you cannot find your diploma on the list, please send an email to [email protected] .

What are the application deadlines?

For Fall applicants, the deadline is April 1 st for non-EEA students, and May 1 st for Dutch, EU, and EEA students. Note that if you are applying for a scholarship, the application deadline is March 1 st   regardless of your passport.

For Spring applicants, the deadline is October 1 st for non-EEA students, and November 1 st for Dutch, EU, and EEA students. Note that if you are applying for a scholarship, the application deadline is September 1 st   regardless of your passport. *Spring applications are open to those who graduate in or before January.

What are the tuition fees?

The most up to date tuition fees can be found here and are dependent on nationality. These fees change every year. Next to the tuition, students also have other costs to account for, such as residence permits, rent, books, and food. An overview of these extra costs, and more information about the tuition fees, can be found here .

Do you have any financial support options?

To study University College Roosevelt, there are several options for financial support. For all students, we offer a tuition payment plan, so you can pay your tuition fee in up to nine parts rather than at once.

UCR also offers a limited number of need-based scholarships.

Additionally, there are external sources (such as the Dutch government) which offer various forms of financial support for students at Dutch Higher Education Institutions.

For more information, please refer to our Financial Support page.

What should I write in my motivation letter?

Your letter of motivation is a very important part of your application. University College Roosevelt uses your statement to learn more about you as an individual – your talents, experiences, achievements and points of view. It provides us with a way to distinguish between candidates with similar academic records. It also gives you with the opportunity to provide the Admissions Office with information that may not be evident in other parts of your application. Think of the letter as your opportunity to introduce yourself to those who will be evaluating your application. The letter will later be used as a basis for the interview.

It is important that you compose your letter carefully, and think about what you want to write. We do not evaluate your writing ability, but correct grammar, spelling and sentence structure contribute to an effective letter. A successful letter tells us more about you than what is already in the application form.

The letter must be written in English. Elaborate on, for example, the following topics:

  • Why would you like to study at University College Roosevelt?
  • What field(s) of studies do you find most interesting and why?
  • How would you contribute to our community?
  • What are your plans after finishing University College Roosevelt?
  • Are there any circumstances not evident in your application that may have affected your academic performance?

Your motivation letter should reflect your own ideas and be written by you alone. Present your information and ideas in a focused, in-depth, thoughtful and meaningful manner. Use no more than two pages.

What can I expect from my interview?

The online interview lasts approximately 30 to 45 minutes and is conducted in English. A member of the Admissions Committee will interview you and use your application and supporting documents, such as your letter of motivation, as the starting point. As such, you may assume that reference to any mentioned academic interests in your application documents will be part of this interview. Therefore we recommend that you review your application forms prior to your interview. Naturally, we will also ask you about your motivation to study at a Liberal Arts and Science college, and at UCR specifically.

Lastly, we would like to point out that the interview is a two-way conversation, not a test. So feel free to arrive with some questions of your own.

Life at UCR

Do you offer students help in terms of housing.

Because we want all of our students to live on campus and truly create a sense of community, we offer every student guaranteed housing for their entire UCR career. Our inner-city campus consists of four residential buildings, three of which contain studio apartments where you have your own bedroom, bathroom, and kitchen (some rooms are shared, where you have your own bedroom but share a bathroom and kitchen with one other person). Our fourth location consists of houses, where students have their own bedroom but share all the common spaces like bathroom and kitchen with 9 to 15 other students.

More information on each campus location can be found here or on the website of the housing agency Gapph Student Housing . You can also contact the Housing Affairs Council for more information.

How much does housing cost?

On average, housing at UCR costs between €350 and €500 per month, depending on your campus location and the size of your room. EU students living in studio apartments can apply for rent allowance.

Can I choose accommodation myself?

During your application process, you will be asked to indicate a housing preference. Though this is not guaranteed, we will try to keep your preference into account. If you end up not enjoying your housing location, you can move after a semester, a year, or whenever you want.

What is there to do in Middelburg?

Though Middelburg is a small city, there is plenty to do when it comes to sports, hobbies, dining, and creativity. Firstly, Roosevelt’s All Student Association (RASA) and its many societies and teams organize many activities, sports, and lectures for you to enjoy, usually for free. There is also Elliott, the student run Common House where students can study, have some food or coffee, or party twice a week. But Middelburg and Zeeland also have plenty to offer. It is nearby many beaches that are easily reachable by bike or bus, there is a cinema, a theater, and concert venues, there are gyms and swimming pools, and many cafes, bars, and restaurants. Find more information here .

What kind of support does UCR offer students?

Throughout their time at UCR, students are supported by their tutor, who helps with course selection. Students struggling with academic work or planning can turn to the Study Skills Support Team who give workshops and provide individual support. Find more information here .

If the struggles are more psychological in nature, students can turn to the counselor, make use of online tools to improve their mental health or get assistance from the well-being team. Find more information here .
