It is stated that it is my second year in the university, and I am a day scholar who lives an hour away. I am writing this letter to please allot me the hostel. According to your definition of applying for the hostel, I am not eligible but I live an hour away, and as being an engineering student my schedule is very tough. My classes begin at almost 8 am, and end at 6:30 pm in the evening.

Having said that, it means that I will have to get up for my classes by around 5 am and leave the house almost by 6:30 am. Last year, my semester was a mess. I was such a bright student in my college times but this travelling is very tiresome. As it is already in your notice, that attendance has around 10-15% weightage in the final grade, and that is a lot to be honest. Having failed to reach the class by 8 am sharp due to unpredictable traffic, and have to drop my brother on the way home lead to loss of straight 15% of my final grade.

 Not only this, I reach back home by around 9pm and after that I have zero energy left to study, or do the assignments. I hardly eat, and go back to sleep, and then get up the next day at 5am totally tired. This cycle continued for about eight months. I am sorry to say but this has not only affected my GPA but also my mental health, and I can not function properly with so much stress, burden, and less sleep, and it makes coming to university a nightmare.

I hope you will understand my position. I also hope that you will try to accommodate me so that I do not ruin my another semester (which is going to be way tougher than last year). I am looking forward towards your cooperation. I am anxiously waiting for your positive reply.

It is stated that it is my second semester as a freshmen in your university. I am a resident of Saudia Arabia, and I used to live in the hostel in my first semester.
