Essay on My Favorite Book (1000 Words)

The true companion of humans in this world is a book. Without the book, the life of humans remains incomplete.

It is a book that teaches us how to be wonderful humans with positive thoughts and shows us the path to wisdom. I would gladly announce my dipper feelings that books have always been there for me.

In the time of trouble, in the time of loneliness, a book can revive you from all these in the time of stress . Humans are complicated to judge, but the books are not. That is why many philosophers have quoted that –

Books are the true friend of a human.

Books have a special quality that can help the readers travel through their words without moving from the actual destinations. Otherwise, we can infer that books enhance our imagination. One book that gave me inspiration is Harry Potter. It is my favorite book.

Books are the True Guide

During the growing stage of a human baby, the parents and teachers are the guides to help the baby grow into a mature and obedient person in the future.

The process to make him or her into a recognizable person to this society takes many efforts, and without books, it can’t be done.

My teachers and parents taught me the importance of books. The inspiration from them led me to read several books. The book ‘Harry Potter’ will always be my favorite, as it gives me goosebumps every time I am reading it.

This book is one of the most intriguing reads of my life. I have finished reading all the books in this series. Every time I read them, I never get bored with it.

Interesting specifics that I admire about the book “Harry Potter”

The series of Harry Potter books were authored by one of the most eminent writers of our generation, J. K. Rowling.

She has been so successful at weaving a picture of this world, which seems so real. The Harry Potter book series comprises seven books. The Goblet of Fire is my favorite book among all series.

The time I began to read this book, it caught my attention instantly. It is one of the best moments to read all the previous parts; however, there are no other books that caught my attention as this one did.

This book has completely given me a thrilling experience and given me enough lessons. This book contributed a huge perspective into the wizarding world.

One most interesting part of this book is the introduction of the other wizard schools. This is the only thing that excites me the most and promotes my mind to read and imagine the total content.

In this book, it starts a concept as the Tri-wizard tournament. This book is one of many vivid pieces one can come across in the Harry Potter series. This book has also drawn my special attention and become my favorite book ,  as it contains some of my favorite characters.

There is this exact love moment when Viktor Krum showed up in this book. At this moment, I got so excited while reading it. J. K. Rowling has described the aura and personality of that character in a suspensive and thrilling way. Rowling has done a marvelous job with simplicity and brilliancy by allocating every character in the Harry Potter series.

A Lesson I Found from the Harry Potter Series

The Harry Potter series is completely based on the world of wizards and magic, but the books contain a lot of lessons for young people to learn. We can learn about the importance of friendship in these books. As per my idea, I have completed so many books but found nothing like these books.

The way of representation of friendship in this series is quite admirable. The friendship among Harry, Hermione, and Ron will give you the best idea of what are the roles of friends’ in our lives.

Harry, Hermione, and Ron love to stick together throughout the books and never gave up. Therefore, I choose the Harry Potter series as my favorite book.

Friendship has its importance. In our normal days, we meet with many people; some stay close to you, and some are just talking casually with you. However, you can find people who are always available to you with no hesitation.

This shows genuine friendship. That is why I admire the writer of this book as she explained the characters so deeply and mentioned the vitality of friendship.

Also, I learned from this book that no one is perfect. No matter how hard you try at some point, you may succeed, or you may fail. That’s what makes us human. Every person possesses a duality of nature , sometimes good and sometimes evil. Here, you can select any character you’d admire.

My favorite book, ‘Harry Potter,’ has shown me and helped me make better choices and become a better human being. The readers can see how the most flawed characters like Snape had goodness inside them.

Also, the series explains how the nicest ones, like Dumbledore, had some undesirable traits. The total scenario displayed in the book series has changed my perspective towards people and made me more considerate.

The series of Harry Potter also provides me with hope. A reader can manipulate the meaning of hope and how there is light at the end of the tunnel through these books. I got inspired the most by the character Harry, as his life is full of the strongest points to cling on to hope in the most desperate times.

10 Lines about My Favorite Book

  • The entire series of Harry Potter is a collection of novels based on fantasy authored by J. K. Rowling.
  • The chronicle of a young wizard’s life known as Harry is explained here.
  • The series also tells us about his friends Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley.
  • It bases the series upon the students of the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
  • I find this book more interesting, and the series turns out to be my favorite book.
  • This book displays everything that we deal with in our normal lives.
  • The books of Harry Potter tell us about his struggle against Lord Voldemort.
  • Lord Voldemort is a dark wizard who intends to become immortal.
  • Lord Voldemort is the anti-character in this series.
  • He takes over the wizard governing body known as the Ministry of Magic and subjugates all wizards and Muggles (non-magical people).

I found many movies and series that were made upon this series. However, nothing can overcome the essence and originality of the books.

As my favorite book, I would like to suggest every reader go through this series. The Harry Potter series will never dissatisfy you, and you can gain enough wonderful messages through these books.

Any form of movies, or comics, or series can’t substitute the specialty and inclusiveness of the books. As per my perspective, The Goblet of Fire will always be my favorite book.

Essay on My Favourite Book: My Favourite Book Essay for Class 3

Geronimo stilton – the hunt for the golden book.

I love reading and my favourite book is from the Geronimo Stilton series, written by the Italian author Elisabetta Dami. ‘Geronimo Stilton – The Hunt for the Golden Book’ is filled with adventures and is an exciting read. The story of the book starts with the central character, Geronimo Stilton, celebrating a successful stint of 10 years of writing. Grandfather Williams throws a party to celebrate, and Geronimo decides to write a book for this occasion. However, his laptop seems to be missing. So, Geronimo and his friends embark on a journey to find his computer and print the new book, just before the party starts. The book captures the interest of young readers and also provides them a bonus read at the end. There is an extra mini mystery at the end of the book, named ‘The Lake Monster’ that has an equally exciting storyline.

Essay on My Favourite Book: My Favourite Book Essay for Class 4

I am very fond of reading books and one of my recent favourites is ‘BFG’ by Roald Dahl. The story starts with a little girl named Sophie being kidnapped by a big friendly giant (BFG) from the orphanage where she stays. She had seen him blowing good dreams into the windows of children that night.

Although she thought she would be eaten by the giant, he was not like the other giants in Giant Country who gobbled up little children. The BFG was a nice and gentle giant who spent his life blowing happy dreams to little children. He spoke a funny language called gobblefunk that made me laugh out loud throughout the book! It’s not surprising that Sophie also loved the way he spoke.

Soon, BFG and Sophie become friends and he takes her to Dream Country where they catch and bottle dreams and nightmares. Sophie also has another adventure with some of the dangerous giants in Giant Country. While she was hiding in a snozzcumber (a cucumber-like vegetable that BFG loved to eat), she gets accidently eaten by an evil giant named Bloodbottler. This was followed by a hilarious description of how BFG saves her from the eyes of the evil giant.

Towards the end of the book, Sophie starts a fight among the evil giants and plots a plan to imprison them with the help of the queen. She goes to Buckingham Palace where she and the BFG meet the queen and inform her about the evil man-eating giants. They eventually capture the giants and imprison them in a deep pit in London.

The book also has impressive illustrations created by Quentin Blake. These pictures add to the charm of the story and make the book a Roald Dahl masterpiece enjoyed by generations of young readers.

2. Ramayana

I love reading books. I have read many books, and am never bored when I am in the company of books.

One book that has influenced me immensely and has become my favourite is the epic Ramayana in English, written by Valmiki (Author), Arshia Sattar (Translator).  The style is simple and the book is very interesting. Once I take up this book I can’t put it down.

The book presents Lord Rama as the embodiment of virtues. We also learn about the sufferings he underwent to uphold his principles. Devi Sita is a devoted wife, ready to undergo any hardship or suffering for her husband.

Bharata is a glorious example of a good brother. He is an embodiment of respect and sacrifice. His love for Rama has no parallel.

There are many other characters in the book and each one plays an important role in the development of the story. Jatayu is one such key character. Hanuman is another. Both were loyal and devoted to Lord Rama.

The Ramayana upholds basic human values such as devotion, loyalty and service, and condemns lowly qualities like avarice, selfishness, and greed for power. This is a book that can be read for a truly spiritual experience.

I have read and re-read it many times. It refreshes my mind and inspires my soul each time.

Essay on My Favourite Book: My Favourite Book Essay for Class 5

1. the magic of the lost temple.

I love reading and one of my favourite books is ‘The Magic of the Lost Temple’ by Sudha Murthy. The book tells the story of twelve-year old Nooni who goes to spend a summer vacation with her grandparents in a village. Nooni is a curious child and she has an urge to abstract information at all times. This sets the scene for a thrilling mystery at the beginning of the book.

Since Nooni stays in Bangalore with her parents, the shift to the village life is enchanting. She finds joy in playing with her cousins, savouring the food cooked by her grandmother, and living the carefree lifestyle led by the villagers. I particularly enjoyed the narration that makes you feel like you are listening to a story told by your grandmother.

Soon Nooni finds a mysterious ancient stepwell in the midst of a forest. She tries to find the secret behind the stepwell with her friends.

‘The Magic of the Lost Temple’ appeals to children and adults alike, as it weaves a story around the uncomplicated life in a rural village. The book also makes a point on issues of social relevance, such as the importance of toilets in villages, the need to give back to the community, and the respect one should have for heritage sites.

I also liked the illustrations in the book; these were in perfect harmony with the characters sketched out by the author. In a nutshell, this is a heartwarming tale of how Nooni experiences the real value of the simple things in life. This is what makes it a memorable read for me.

A good work of literature is the outcome of years of dedication from the author. I generally like books which have stood the test of time and to which succeeding generations provide their seal of approval. I have read a number of books and there are several which are my favourite. This includes the tragedies of Shakespeare, the novels of Charles Dickens and the plays of George Bernard Shaw.

But there is one book that I particularly enjoy reading and that is the great drama, ‘Macbeth’, by Shakespeare.

Macbeth is the story of an ambitious man and an equally ambitious woman, Macbeth and Lady Macbeth respectively. They commit the murder of King Duncan in their own castle, so that Macbeth could become the King.

Macbeth takes over as the King of Scotland and his wife, Lady Macbeth, becomes the queen. After the first murder, Macbeth plans the murder of his chieftain Banquo, Lady Macduff, and her son, because they are closely related to his enemy Macduff.

The characters of Macbeth and Lady Macbeth are very beautifully sketched by Shakespeare. The chief attraction lies in the character of Lady Macbeth.

The instincts that are usually associated with femininity, i.e., motherhood and compassion, are strikingly absent in Lady Macbeth. Instead, she appears to be an ambitious and ruthless person with an insatiable desire for power.

Macbeth teaches us the great moral lesson that the wage of sin is death. Those who take to wrong and immoral courses, like Macbeth and Lady Macbeth, will surely find grief in the course of life. Virtue will surely be rewarded.

3. My Experiments with Truth

We know that food is important for a healthy body. Similarly books are important for a healthy mind. Books are our true friends. They help us understand the world around us. Through books we are able to study the thoughts of different people.

Though I have read many books written by acclaimed authors, “My Experiments with Truth” is my favourite book. It was written by  Mahatma Gandhi , the Father of the Nation. I like the book because of several reasons.

It tells us about the life of the great man who got us freedom from the British. It has been written in a simple and easy-to-understand style. It is very interesting and keeps the reader gripped from beginning to end.

My Experiments with Truth is full of intriguing incidents and moral lessons. Gandhi narrates the stories of  King Harish Chandra  and  Shravan Kumar,  that have influenced him greatly. It is eye opening to read how this great man fought against untouchability and racial discrimination. My Experiments with Truth is a great book indeed!

Essay on My Favourite Book

Books are considered to be a man’s best friend. They are a powerhouse of knowledge and wisdom. It is rightly said that a book is like a garden carried in the pocket. Among the myriad of books I have read, one that stands out as my favourite is Harper Lee’s “To Kill a Mockingbird.” This timeless classic is not just a book but a profound narrative that intertwines moral growth, racism, and social injustice in a way that resonates with its readers across generations.

Why “To Kill a Mockingbird” is My Favourite Book

Unforgettable characters.

The characters of “To Kill a Mockingbird” are its strongest suit. Scout Finch, the narrator, is a character whose innocence and curiosity about the world around her make the complex themes of the book accessible to readers. Through her eyes, we see the growth and moral development of characters as they navigate through the social fabric of Maycomb, Alabama. Atticus Finch, Scout’s father, embodies integrity and wisdom. He is a moral beacon, not just for his children but for the community, as he defends a black man, Tom Robinson, accused of raping a white woman. The characters are not just figments of fiction but are etched in reality, making readers reflect on their moral compass.

Themes of Moral Integrity and Social Injustice

The book delves deep into themes of racial injustice, moral integrity, and the loss of innocence. Through the trial of Tom Robinson, Harper Lee presents a stark portrayal of the racial inequalities that plagued the American South. But, more than that, the novel is a call to action, urging its readers to stand up against injustice and to strive for empathy and understanding. The character of Atticus Finch serves as a role model, teaching his children and the readers the importance of seeing the world from another’s perspective, emphasizing, “You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view… Until you climb inside of his skin and walk around in it.”

A Lesson in Empathy and Understanding

One of the most profound lessons “To Kill a Mockingbird” imparts is the importance of empathy. The novel encourages readers to look beyond the surface, to understand that every person has a story, and often, people act out of the pain and suffering that is not visible to the naked eye. The character of Boo Radley is a prime example. Initially portrayed as a figure of mystery and fear, Boo’s true nature is revealed towards the end, teaching Scout and the readers a valuable lesson about kindness, bravery, and the human capacity for goodness.

Impact and Relevance

“To Kill a Mockingbird” has not only won the Pulitzer Prize but has also become a staple in academic curriculums worldwide, testament to its impact and relevance. Its themes of racial injustice, moral courage, and empathy are as pertinent today as they were in the 1960s. The novel serves as a mirror to society, reflecting the biases and injustices that still exist while also illuminating the path towards understanding, acceptance, and equality.

Personal Reflection

For me, “To Kill a Mockingbird” is more than just a book; it is a journey into the heart of humanity. It has taught me the importance of standing up for what is right, even when the world seems against you. It has shown me the power of empathy, of the need to understand and accept others, regardless of our differences. Atticus Finch’s integrity, courage, and wisdom are qualities I aspire to embody in my own life.

In conclusion, “To Kill a Mockingbird” by Harper Lee is a book that transcends time and age. Its lessons on empathy, justice, and moral integrity are universal. It challenges readers to reflect on their values and prejudices, urging them towards a more compassionate and just world. This book holds a special place in my heart, not just as my favourite book but as a guide to navigating the complexities of the human condition. For anyone looking to understand the essence of humanity, to learn about courage and compassion, “To Kill a Mockingbird” is a must-read. It is a book that changes you, that makes you a better person, and that is why it remains my favourite book.

My Favourite Book

Books are friends who will never abandon you. This saying rings true for me because books have always been there for me. I like to read books. They have the ability to transport us through worlds without requiring us to leave our current location.  Books have the power to transport people all over the world without them having to leave their homes. My parents and teachers always encouraged me to read when I was younger.  Harry Potter, on the other hand, will always be my favourite book.

J.K. Rowling, one of our generation's most eminent writers, wrote the Harry Potter series. These books depict the wizarding world and its operations. J.K. Rowling has done such a good job of painting a picture of this world that it feels real. Despite the fact that the series consists of seven books, I have a personal favourite.  When I first started reading the book, it immediately piqued my interest. Despite having read all of the previous parts, none of the books piqued my interest as much as this one did.

The introduction of the other wizard schools is one of the things about this book that most excites me. The Triwizard Tournament concept is one of the most brilliant ideas I've seen in the Harry Potter series. In addition, some of my favourite characters appear in this book. Rowling's description of that character's aura and personality is simply brilliant. Furthermore, it made me a bigger fan of the series.Despite the fact that the books are set in the world of wizards and magic, the Harry Potter series contains many lessons for young people to learn.

For starters, it teaches us the value of friendship. I've read a lot of books, but I've never come across a friendship like Harry, Hermoine, and Ron's. Throughout the books, these three musketeers stayed together and never gave up. It taught me the importance of having a good friend.Furthermore, the Harry Potter series taught me that no one is perfect. Everyone carries both good and evil within them. This aided me in making better decisions and becoming a better person. We see how even the most flawed characters, such as Snape, had goodness within them. Similarly, even the nicest characters, such as Dumbledore, had flaws. This altered my attitude toward people and made me more considerate.

Finally, these books provided me with hope. They taught me what hope is and that there is light at the end of the tunnel. It gave me the courage to hold on to hope even in the darkest of times, just as Harry had done his entire life. These are some of the most important lessons I took away from Harry Potter. In conclusion, while many films have been made based on the books. Nothing beats the essence and uniqueness of the books. The details and inclusiveness of books cannot be replaced by any other form of media. As a result, The Goblet of Fire is still my favourite book.

250 Words Essay on My Favourite Book

Every book has its unique charm, but the one that has captivated my heart the most is George Orwell’s “1984”. This dystopian novel, published in 1949, is a profound exploration of totalitarianism and its effects on society.

Plot and Themes

“1984” is set in a future where society is under the control of the Party, led by Big Brother. The protagonist, Winston Smith, is a low-ranking member of the Party who begins questioning the regime’s oppressive rules. The book’s themes of surveillance, manipulation, and the eradication of individuality are as thought-provoking as they are chilling.

Impact and Relevance

Orwell’s “1984” is not just a book, but a mirror reflecting the potential consequences of absolute power. The concept of “Newspeak”, the language created by the Party to limit free thought, resonates with the manipulation of information in today’s digital age. The omnipresent surveillance reminds us of the growing concerns about privacy in our interconnected world.

Personal Reflection

“1984” is my favourite book because it challenges me to think critically about society and the power dynamics within it. It’s a stark reminder of the importance of freedom, truth, and individuality. Every time I read it, I find new layers of meaning, making it a timeless piece of literature.

500 Words Essay on My Favourite Book

Books are the repositories of knowledge, wisdom and a source of joy. They are our best companions that open up new dimensions of understanding, and among the multitude of books, ‘To Kill a Mockingbird’ by Harper Lee holds a special place in my heart.

Unveiling the Narrative

‘To Kill a Mockingbird’ is a masterpiece that elegantly intertwines the themes of innocence, morality, and racial inequality. Set in the backdrop of a small town in Alabama during the Great Depression, the narrative is a profound exploration of human behavior and the complexity of social norms.

Characters and Plot

The story is narrated by Scout Finch, a young girl living with her older brother Jem and their widowed father Atticus, a highly moral and principled lawyer. The plot thickens when Atticus is appointed to defend Tom Robinson, a black man falsely accused of raping a white woman. The trial and its aftermath expose the children to the harsh realities of prejudice and moral hypocrisy.

Symbolism and Themes

The title of the book itself is a metaphorical symbol. Atticus advises his children that it’s a sin to kill a mockingbird as they do nothing but make music for us to enjoy. This can be seen as an allegory for the unjust treatment of innocent individuals in society.

A Lesson in Empathy

One of the most impactful lessons from the book is Atticus’s advice to Scout about understanding others: “You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view…until you climb into his skin and walk around in it.” This message of empathy, understanding, and tolerance resonates deeply, making it not just a book, but a guide for life.

Impact and Influence

‘To Kill a Mockingbird’ has left an indelible mark on me. It taught me that standing up for what is right, even when the majority is against you, is the true mark of integrity. The courage and righteousness of Atticus Finch have greatly influenced my personal values and ethics.

In conclusion, ‘To Kill a Mockingbird’ is a timeless classic that delves into the depths of human nature, exploring themes of innocence, morality, and racial prejudice. Its profound impact and the lessons it imparts make it my favorite book. Reading it is not merely an act of leisure, but a journey into the complexities of society and the human mind. It has shaped my perspective towards life and continues to inspire me to stand against injustice and uphold morality, even in the face of adversity.

Essay About My Favourite Book

Reading my favourite book is like a magical journey into a world of exciting places and wonderful characters. I love my favourite book because it taught me the importance of friendship, adventures in life and some important life lessons. The protagonist in the story of my favourite book discovers special abilities while embarking on his journey of self-discovery. I aspire to do the same in my life. The story had lots of twists and turns and the protagonist had to show resilience and courage to sail through. I learnt about courage, loyalty, and friendship from this main character.

After reading my favourite book, my life changed a lot. I started seeing the world with a sense of wonder, and it influenced how I made my life choices. I became wiser at making important decisions in my everyday life. My favourite book and its main character served as an inspiration for me and turned me into someone who is now more open to welcoming life’s challenges and adventures.

My Favourite Book Essay in English for Class 10:

My favourite book is ‘Malgudi Days’ by R. K. Narayan. This literal masterpiece exhibits the simplistic rural life in India. Through the course of the 32 stories, it captures the essence of small-town life, where the ordinary becomes extraordinary through Narayan's keen observations. I find it wonderful that the stories, set against the backdrop of a fictional South Indian town, delve into the lives of its diverse inhabitants, showcasing the beauty found in the mundane.

The book iterates universal themes and is an absolute delight to read. It is like a reservoir of valuable life wisdom. The culture of India exhibited through the stories, and the complex characters with their mundane lives make this book worth reading. As I navigate through its stories, the beauty inherent in ordinary everyday life resonates with me deeply. The author, R. K. Narayan is adept at storytelling and emphasizes the profound lessons that could be learnt through the various characters of the story. The life’s intricacies are depicted through the rural lens and the diverse stories with different characters make it my all-time favourite book to read. Each time, when I want to get lost in the nuances of these beautiful fictional characters, the old societal dynamics, human relationships etc. I read this book.

In the present modern world, which is rapidly changing, my favourite book, ‘Malgudi Days’ serves as a poignant reminder of enduring human experiences which is the result of the simplistic life led by the characters. I believe his book will keep on resonating with its readers across generations. As modern society grapples with the challenges of complex lifestyles and fast-paced living, the narratives in ‘Malgudi Days’ encourage a pause to reflect on the significance of human connections, the value of simplicity, and the importance of embracing the ordinary joys of life.

My Favourite Book Essay Harry Potter:

My all-time favourite book to read is ‘Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone’ by J. K. Rowling. This book is considered one of the classics and captivates readers from all age groups around the globe. When I first read this enchanting book, I was lost in the intricate magical world of Hogwarts. The book stirs up my imagination and becomes like a timeless gateway into a world of wonder. I also love J. K. Rowling’s distinctive writing style. She weaves the themes of friendship, courage, and the battle between good and evil so effortlessly. My favourite character from the novel is ‘Harry Potter’ who is also the protagonist of the story. Whenever I sit alone to read this book, the transformative journey of Harry Potter gives me false hope of some magical world. I get completely absorbed in the world of wizards and magical creatures. In my opinion, the author has artistically fabricated the world of magic where everything is possible through the means of magical spells.

One of the most prominent themes that runs throughout the course of the book is the theme of friendship. I enjoyed reading about the friendship which is exhibited between Harry, Ron, and Hermione. These three characters share a genuine friendship and the importance of forming genuine connections is emphasized by the author. It is through means of genuine bonds, that we can hope to overcome difficulties in life.

There are several other themes which are highlighted in my favourite book. The theme of courage which is exhibited by my favourite character, ‘Harry’ instils confidence in my mind as well. When Harry fights the three-headed dog to save his friends. I learnt how controlling fear can help us triumph over anything. The book also teaches us that good always wins over evil. The protagonist Harry also has a face-to-face incident with Lord Voldemort who is projected as the lord of darkness and evil. The book traces the complexities of morality and also reiterates the fact that humans always stand on the winning side if they are able to make the right choices and decisions. I often related to this theme mentioned in the book strongly as I get reminded of how worthy it is to have a strong, resilient mind to make the right choices for oneself in everyday life. There is an intricate description of magical landscapes in my favourite book of Harry Potter. The author has elaborated on the rich details of Hogwarts Castle, Diagon Alley and the Forbidden Forest. The humour, mystery, wonder and suspense created throughout the book is enough to captivate the minds of the readers. The witty dialogues and clever wordplay contribute to the overall enjoyment of the book. Whenever I read this book, I instantly get engaged in the unfolding plot even though I have read this book many times. The charm and wit of the main characters can entertain the reader over and over again.

I love reading this book because it has taught me to love magic within the ordinary and to never stop believing in the extraordinary. In my opinion, the book, ‘Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone’ should be read by people who are deeply interested in learning core human values through the means of a magical world and its fictional characters.

My Favourite Book – ‘The Ministry of Utmost Happiness’ by Arundhati Roy.

‘Published in 2017, this book marks the return of Arundhati Roy to the fictional world, after a long hiatus following her acclaimed debut novel, ‘The God of Small Things,’ which won the Man Booker Prize in 1997. ‘The Ministry of Utmost Happiness is a complex and sprawling narrative that weaves together multiple storylines and characters.’

‘This novel is notable for its rich prose and the vivid imaginary skills of the author where she has portrayed the complexities and diversities in Indian society. The main character, Anjum, is a transgender woman who creates a home for herself in a graveyard in Delhi.’

My Favourite Book – ‘The God of Small Things’ by Arundhati Roy.

‘The God of Small Things was the debut novel of Arundhati Roy, published in 1997 and won the Man Booker Prize for fiction. This novel is set in the Indian State of Kerala and weaves a complex narrative, where different themes such as family, love, social injustice and the consequences of societal norms are explored.’

‘This novel employs a non-linear narrative structure, adding to its complexities. This book alternates between two time periods: the main storyline of 1960 and a later period of 1993. This novel revolves around the lives of fraternal twins Rahel and Estha, who were separated after a traumatic incident when they were kids. Their relationship is central to the story, and the narrative explores their individual struggles and the enduring bond between them.’

I consider this novel my favourite because it delves into the rigid caste system and social norms that pervade Indian society, particularly in Kerala. It is set against the backdrop of significant political and historical events in India, such as the rise of communism and the influence of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) in Kerala. This is a beautifully written emotionally powerful novel that tackles themes of love, loss and social injustice.

My Favourite Book – Atomic Habits: An Easy & Proven Way to Build Good Habits & Break Bad Ones by James Clear

James Clear has resonated with readers all over the world with his book, offering profound insights into the art and science of habit formation. His words stand out not only for their clarity but also for their practicality, offering readers with actionable strategies to make lasting positive changes in their lives.’

‘This book talks about a psychological framework, the habit loop, which comprises of 4 components: cue, craving, response and reward. Each of these components tells you how habits are formed, maintained, and, ultimately, transformed. This book helps in understanding the mechanics of the habit loop, giving readers a gain to valuable tool to reshare their behaviours intentionally.’

‘One of the standout principles of this book is the ‘two-minute rule’ where the author wants us to build new habits so easily that they can be completed in under two minutes.  This approach paves the way for consistent and gradual progress. It doesn’t matter what your objectives are, but with his rule, you can transform what seems impossible and attain your daily goals and rituals.’

‘The other focus of this book is towards the environment and the crucial role it plays in shaping our behaviours. James Clear demonstrates that whether things are small or big, physical or social, they can have a profound impact on our habits. A personal can create an environment that supports their desired changes by distinguishing between the obvious and undesirable changes.’

‘The importance of continuous progress and improvement is the key message here. James introduces the concept of the ‘plateau of latent potential,’ where progress may be slow in the beginning but once there is consistency, it leads to remarkable growth with unwavering commitment.’

“The Alchemist”: A Journey of Dreams and Destiny

Books have the magical ability to transport us to different worlds and ignite our imagination. Among the many books I’ve had the pleasure of reading, “The Alchemist” by Paulo Coelho stands out as my favorite. This enchanting tale takes readers on a transformative journey, exploring the pursuit of dreams and the realization of destiny.

Set against the backdrop of the Andalusian region in Spain, “The Alchemist” follows the protagonist, Santiago, a shepherd boy with a recurring dream about finding treasure in the Egyptian pyramids. This dream sets him on a path of self-discovery, guiding him toward his Personal Legend – the fulfillment of his deepest desires.

One of the aspects that make “The Alchemist” my favorite is its timeless and universal themes. Coelho beautifully weaves together elements of spirituality, destiny, and the pursuit of one’s true calling. Santiago’s journey mirrors our own quests for meaning and purpose, making the narrative deeply relatable and inspiring.

The characters in the book are equally captivating. Santiago encounters a series of mentors, including the enigmatic Melchizedek, the crystal merchant, and the alchemist himself. Each character imparts wisdom and valuable life lessons, contributing to Santiago’s growth and understanding of the world. These characters have become not just fictional figures but mentors in my own literary journey.

Furthermore, the symbolic language used by Coelho adds layers of meaning to the narrative. The idea of turning base metals into gold serves as a metaphor for the transformative power of pursuing one’s dreams. The concept of the “Language of the World” emphasizes the interconnectedness of all things and the importance of listening to the signs and omens that guide us on our journeys.

“The Alchemist” also emphasizes the importance of perseverance and resilience in the face of challenges. Santiago encounters numerous obstacles on his quest, from thieves to the scorching desert, yet he persists with unwavering determination. This theme has served as a source of inspiration during my own moments of adversity.

The writing style of Paulo Coelho is simple yet profound. His words have a poetic quality that resonates with readers on a deep emotional level. The narrative flows seamlessly, capturing the essence of each moment and allowing readers to immerse themselves fully in Santiago’s odyssey.

On a personal note, “The Alchemist” has been a guiding light during times of uncertainty. Its central message – that our dreams are not only attainable but also essential to our fulfillment – has encouraged me to pursue my passions and embrace the unknown with open arms. The book has become a source of solace and motivation, urging me to listen to my heart and follow my own Personal Legend.

In conclusion, “The Alchemist” is not just a book; it is a profound journey that transcends the pages. Its themes of dreams, destiny, and the pursuit of one’s Personal Legend make it a timeless masterpiece. Paulo Coelho’s storytelling, combined with the universal lessons woven into the narrative, has left an indelible mark on my heart and mind. “The Alchemist” will forever hold a special place in my literary world, reminding me of the transformative power that lies within the pursuit of our dreams.

‘my favourite book – palace of illusions’.

I have read several books. However, none has captivated my interest as the Palace of Illusions. Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni writes the book. Born in 1956, Chitra is a well-known Indian American author and poet. An alumnus of the University of Calcutta and the Wright State University, United States, Chitra received a Ph.D. in English from California.

Her book, The Palace of Illusions, narrates the story of Panchali from the epic story of Mahabharat. Chitra has given a feminist interpretation of this epic saga through her narrator, Panchali. The novel focuses on the life of Panchali. It covers those aspects of her life that were missed in the other adaptations of Mahabharat. It gives a detailed account of Panchaali’s life from when she was born. Her birth was no less than a miracle. She was born magically in the fire.

Panchali was the daughter of a wealthy king. She went on to marry the five Pandavas. After her marriage, her hardships have been written at length in the novel. The challenges of living in exile, her relationship with her husband and mother-in-law, and her equation with Lord Krishna have all been covered in the novel.

Panchali is a charismatic and daring character. I loved reading about her. Chitra has portrayed the character and also depicted the events very well.

My Favourite Book Paragraph For Students

Essay on My Favourite Book 400 words – Essay 3

‘my favourite book – a suitable boy.

One of my all-time favourite books is Vikram Seth’s A Suitable Boy. The story is lengthy but doesn’t get boring at any point. It is one of the longest Indian novels ever published in the English language in a single volume. It contains as many as 1349 pages. I love the theme as well as the characters of this story. It took me almost two months to finish reading this novel.

The Interesting Storyline

The story is set in India, which recently attained independence from British Rule. It narrates the story of four families. The story set in the fictional town of Brahmpur focuses on the character of Mrs. Rupa Mehra, who is eagerly looking for a match for her younger daughter, Lata. As I began reading the book, it reminded me of Pride and also Prejudice.

The character of Mrs. Rupa Mehra resembled that of Elizabeth’s mother in the novel. The central theme seemed similar too. However, I like A Suitable Boy more as it is set in India and is more relatable. Seth shares that this work has largely been inspired by the Chinese novel, The Story of the Stone, authored by Cao Xuegin.

I particularly loved Lata’s character. She is a young girl who is daring and likes to make her decisions on her own. She does not conform to the rules set by her mother and the opinion of her brother. The difficulties she faces in due course of the story and the way she tries to overcome them are interesting. Her character inspires me to stand for what I feel is right.

The caste and class tension and the post-partition politics form the novel’s backdrop, making it more interesting.

About the Author – Vikram Seth

Vikram Seth, born in Calcutta in 1952, is an Indian author and poet. He belongs to a well-educated and respectable Indian family. His mother, Leila Seth, became the first Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court. Seth has written several exciting novels and poems.

His writings have been immensely appreciated. He has won some prestigious awards for his work. These include the Padma Shri, WH Smith Literary Award, Sahitya Academy Award, Crossword Book Award, and also the Pravasi Bhartiya Samman.

I love Seth’s portrayal of the changing family values and relationships in independent India. Therefore the social and political issues that the country was gripped with post-independence have been interwoven appropriately to set the novel’s tone.

The story moves to and fro, depicting the events occurring in the life of the twins when they were seven years old and as they turned 31. The story is about a dysfunctional family. The relationship between the characters is quite complicated. It is something that passed from generation to generation. Pappachi, the grandfather of Rahel and also Estha, could not do well professionally, and he takes out all his anger and frustration on his wife. He beats her throughout his life. The life of their kids, Ammu and Chako, also screwed up.

The epic Ramayana depicts the story of Lord Rama. Ram was the son of King Dasharatha of Ayodhya. King Dasharatha had four sons from his three wives whose names were Ram, Lakshman, Bharat, Shatrughan. There was a lot of love and affection between these four brothers.

All four brothers completed their education and returned to Ayodhya. All were married. Lord Ram was married to Sita. Lord Rama had to go into exile for 14 years following the orders of his mother Kaikeyi.

During her exile, the demon king Ravana kidnapped Sita but Lord Rama defeated Ravana and brought his wife Sita back to Ayodhya. He was honored as the king of Ayodhya.

Ram was an ideal king for the people of his kingdom Ayodhya. He took care of his people. He listened to everyone in his kingdom and administered justice.

Lessons from the Lives of Various Characters of Ramayana

Lord Rama – He was an ideal son to his father, an ideal brother to his mother, an ideal husband to his wife Sita, and an ideal king to the people of his kingdom.

Sita – Lord Rama was married to Sita who was an ideal wife. She always stood by her husband in good or bad times of life.

Lakshman – He was an ideal brother of Lord Rama. All the brothers had great love and affection towards each other.

Bharat – He was an ideal brother of Lord Rama. He did not accept the throne as a king and also gave up the pleasures of the palace and lived in a small hut. These thoughts reflect the respect and love of a brother.

All the other characters were also great including Lord Ram’s biggest devotee Hanuman, the wives of the four brothers, all the mothers of Lord Ram, Jatayu, Shabari, etc.

Moral Education

We should be brave and courageous with high spirits whether there is happiness or sorrow in our life. This epic teaches us to respect and honor our elders and teachers. We should listen to our elders and follow them. Bad or wrong actions never give better results. To achieve success one should not take wrong and negative steps.

Ramayana is an epic full of wisdom, education, and principles of life. We need to learn good lessons from this book. I enjoy reading this book again and again. We should keep this book at our home, those who do not have this book must bring and read this book because it is full of knowledge, spiritual and moral teachings.

Essay on My Favourite Book for Students in English [500 Words]

January 3, 2021 by Sandeep

My Favourite Book Essay: Books are considered man’s best companions as they never tend to leave our side. Reading good books fills our minds with knowledge and take us to different places virtually by sitting in one place. It helps us to enhance our imagination and thinking skills and expands our perspective on things. Books can turn a gloomy day into a beautiful one by filling our minds with positive thoughts and motivational instances.

Essay on My Favourite Book 500 Words in English

Below we have My Favourite Book Essay in English, suitable for class 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 school students.

Books are considered to be objects of intellect and an excellent means of recording information through writing and images. Books can be of any genre and can be the home to many different types of content. The content in them can be the fictional work of someone’s imagination or even the hard-hitting, real-life stories of other people around the world. I’ve loved reading ever since I was a child. I truly believe that books are like an escape – they take you to other worlds and prompt you to look at your environment as well as yourself in another light.

Reading books activates the human imagination, allowing us to conjure up our own beautiful images from carefully crafted strings of sentences that decorate pages of stories you can read over and over. I never restrict myself to a single genre- books are a wonderful medium to explore the world, and I try to use that to the fullest.

My Favourite Book – Things Fall Apart

I love too many books to pick a favourite, but I really loved reading Things Fall Apart by Nigerian author Chinua Achebe. It is a realistic historical fiction novel published in 1958, two years before Nigeria was free from British colonization. A major reason why I love the book is because of its narrative – it uses a unique narrative to tell the story of the main character Okonkwo and his life in the fictional village of Umuofia before and after being colonized by the British.

Chinua Achebe’s goal when writing the book was so that it would serve as a story from which young Nigerians could learn about their past, while at the same time embracing their new future after independence. Achebe wanted to convey the importance of duality- the concept of maintaining your core ideals while changing to accommodate a world which is also constantly changing.

The book tells Okonkwo’s story from his perspective, making him the main protagonist. It is divided into two halves – the first half explores Okonkwo’s present and past, helping readers understand his personality and inability to adjust to changing situations.  In the second half, we see this inflexibility manifest as he refuses to accept his authority being stripped away when the British take over Umuofia.

His inability to handle change takes a major toll on his mental health, leading to the complete deterioration of his psyche at the end of the novel. He serves as a symbol for some aspects of old Nigerian traditions and ways of living, which also gradually deteriorated due to the arrival of the British.  The main reason I really like this book is that upon reading it, I immediately understood the message that the author intended for his audience.

Okonkwo’s psychological deterioration as the novel approaches its end is a clear portrayal of the dangers that await us if we remain stoic and stubborn throughout our lives – we must accept how the world is constantly changing, and every corner of the globe is very different in terms of language, culture, and way of life. By understanding that we are not superior and understanding other people’s perspectives are important, we become more open-minded and accepting, hence allowing the world to become the melting pot of diversity it should be.

Essay 1 (250 Words) – My Favourite Book: Panchatantra

Introduction

Being our best friends, books provide us with knowledge about the whole world. I have read many books. Some of them are my course books and some are the storybooks which my parents have bought for me.

My Favourite Book

My favorite book is Panchatantra. It is written by Vishnu Sharma. The book contains a collection of many stories. The writer has tried to give the moral of life by the activity of animals. I am very fond of reading storybooks and this book provided me with different types of stories.

The story of stork and crab shows the presence of the mind and intelligence of the crab. The stork could not search for his food when he became old and therefore had made a plan. He stood sad and depressed near the pond and when fish and crab asked the reason for his sadness, he made a fake story that the pond will be inhabited by people to grow crops. All the fishes, frogs, and crabs were convinced by his story. Later when it was the chance of crab to be killed and eaten by the stork, the situation was reversed. Crab used his intelligence and could guess the real motive of the stork. He escaped by killing the stork.

The book contains several stories like Monkey and crocodile, Elephant and mice, loyal mongoose, etc. There are many stories in the book and they focus on the qualities like friendship, courage, intelligence, presence of mind, and unity.

The book Panchatantra is one of my favorite storybooks. I was very happy after reading this book for the first time. The stories are fascinating as well as teach us some morals of life.

There are hundreds of books we come through while reading. Every book provides us with knowledge and interesting facts. There are some books which inspire us and we feel it to be the best book we have ever read.

Elucidation of My Favourite Book

My favorite book is Mahabharata. I did not know anything about this epic before I read the book. I received this book as my birthday gift from my grandparents. At first, when I opened the book, it appeared to be a little boring. I kept the book as it is in my drawer. Later when the serial Mahabharata was casted on television, I started getting interested in the story. Since it was casted a little on one day and I wanted to know about the whole story soon. Therefore I started reading the book.

Mahabharata is one of the major epics of Hindus in Sanskrit. It has been written by Maharishi Ved Vyas. The epic contains 10000 shlokas. The main story depicted by this epic is based on the battle between Pandavas and Kauravas for getting the throne of Hastinapur. The battle was fought in Kurukshetra.

Story in Brief

The book mainly focuses on the story of Kauravas and Pandavas. Dhritarashtra and Pandu were two brothers. Since Dhritarashtra was blind so Pandu became the ruler. Duryodhana was the eldest of hundred sons (Kaurwas) of Dhritarashtra and Yudhistir, Bheem, Arjuna, Nakul, and Sehdev were five sons of Pandu. Duryodhana invited Pandavas to play the game with him. The Pandavas accepted the offer of their cousin’s brother and came to play. They lost the game and also Draupadi called “Panchali”.

As a result, they have to spend 13 years of exile period. After they completed the period of exile, they returned to Indraprastha. Duryodhana refused to hand over Hastinapur to Pandavas. This led them to fight the battle for justice and dharma. Later the Pandavas won the battle by defeating Kauravas.

Bhagavad Gita – Arjun was not ready to fight the battle against his close relatives. The Enlightenment and knowledge which Lord Krishna imparted during the battle to Arjun came to be known as Bhagavad Gita. It is the storehouse of knowledge. It is part of the Great Epic Mahabharata.

It consists of 18 chapters consisting of 700 shlokas. It teaches us spiritual lessons along with important lessons of life.

Lord Krishna says that it is the body only that dies not the soul. The soul leaves one body and occupies a new body. It has been explained in Gita that one should be hard working without thinking of the results. There is no substitute for hard work. The life of man is full of struggles and men should face all these with a firm determination.

I love the story of Mahabharata. This book helps us in solving the problems of our life. In the story of Mahabharata, every character has an important role and we can learn different things from their life.

Essay 3 (500 – 600 Words) – My Favourite Book: Ramayana

Reading books is a good habit. It inculcates knowledge and moral values in us. Every one of us should have a good reading habit. Books are like our companions. Books are the storehouse of knowledge and we can obtain the knowledge to develop a passion for reading us.

I have read many books. I am very fond of reading novels and storybooks. My favorite book is Ramayana. It is the greatest Epic after Mahabharata written by Rishi Valmiki. It is the holy book of Hindus.

Story of Ramayana

The great epic Ramayana illustrates the story of Lord Rama. He was the son of Ayodhya King Dasharatha. King Dasharatha had four sons from his three wives namely Ram, Lakshman, Bharata, Shatrughan. There was a lot of love and affection between the brothers.

All four of them left Ayodhya the first time to gain an education. They completed their education and returned to Ayodhya. Further, they all were married. Lord Ram was married to Sita. Lord Ram has to leave his family and go to exile for a period of 14 years, following the orders of his mother Kaikeyi. He left to spend his exile period with his wife Sita and brother Lakshman.

In the jungle, Sita was kidnapped by the Demon King Ravana. Lord Ram defeated Ravana and rescued his wife back to Ayodhya. Then only Ram was conferred as King of Ayodhya. He saved the lives of many saints by punishing the evil characters. He was the ideal king for his people of kingdom Ayodhya. He took care of his people and sometimes went into the public by changing his identity to know the real scenario. He would hear to everybody in his kingdom and did justice.

Lesson from the Life of Different Characters of Ramayana

  • Lord Ram – He was an ideal son for his father, mother, and country, ideal husband for his wife Sita, an Ideal brother, and Ideal king for the public of his kingdom.
  • Lakshman – He was an Ideal brother and took care of his elder brother Ram. All of the brothers had a lot of love and affection for each other.
  • Bharata – He was an ideal brother. It has been stated that when Lord Ram went to exile for 14 years, Bharata has kept the slippers of his elder brother on the throne and did not accept the throne as a king. He also had sacrificed the pleasures of the palace and resided in a small hut. These things represent the respect and love of a brother.
  • Sita – Lord Ram was married to Sita. She was an ideal wife. She went along with Lord Ram for the exile period. She stated that – How could a wife enjoy all pleasures of life when the husband has to go for exile period? She always stood with her husband in good or bad times of life.
  • Shabri – Her character is also an important character as a great Devotee of Ram. She spread the flowers and selected berries daily to welcome Lord Ram and finally her wish was fulfilled. In the same way, we should not lose hope till the end and try our best.
  • All other characters were also great like Hanuman the greatest devotee of Lord Ram, all the mothers of Lord Ram, wife of all four brothers, Jatayu, etc.

Moral Derived after Reading the Book

  • We must be brave and courageous in our life with a high spirit.
  • Life has both phases i.e. happiness and grief. We must be readily accepting both phases of life.
  • This epic teaches us to respect our elders and teachers. We should listen and follow what they say.
  • We learn that evil or wrong deeds never give a better result. We should use our energy in a positive direction to achieve success. As the demon Ravana took away Maa Sita by betrayal, therefore, was punished. Instead of being a person with intellect, he did not use his mind and energy in a positive direction.

Ramayana is an epic with immense knowledge and principles of life. This book can be found in every house. I love reading this book again and again. People who do not have this book must bring and read the book as it is filled with spiritual and moral lessons.

“My Favourite Book” Essay

Books are very important in life as they provide us with knowledge and educate us. My favourite book is, “ Wings of Fire ” by Dr APJ Abdul Kalam . The book is the autobiography of the 11th President of India who is also known as the Missile Man, Dr APJ Abdul Kalam. The book has been published in 13 languages and is one of the best autobiographical books I have read so far.

APJ Abdul Kalam was a Tamilian boy who was born into a poverty-stricken family and the book explains how he rose from the economically backward strata of society to the most esteemed position in the Indian Government. Kalam’s autobiography has been named, “Wings of Fire” because he was the man behind ballistic missile and launch vehicle technology in India. The book begins with his childhood and takes the readers for a highly motivational ride through the inspirational life of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam. Wings of Fire was published in 1999 by the Universities Press and co-authored by Arun Tiwari. It also focuses on India’s sustainability and independence in the world of Technology.

My Parents Essay for Students and Children in English

Wings of Fire happens to be my favourite because it is extremely inspirational. The life of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam happens to be a game changer for India in terms of science and technology. Further, he was a simple man and his humility and simplicity are appreciated by nearly everyone in the world. Reading about him has been intensely motivating and the book presents the reality of life and how hard work can overcome every obstacle in life. The experience of reading “Wings of Fire” was exactly like Rene Descartes describes, “The reading of all good books is like a conversation with the finest minds of past centuries”.

Essay on my favourite book, 500+ words essay on my favourite book.

My favourite book is “The Story of My Life” by Helen Keller. I have gone through some other books in English, but I have been mostly impressed by the autobiography of Helen Keller. She writes with a natural case and power, especially on her hard life, hardly even equalled by any other writer of that category.

We come to know that Helen Keller was born on June 27 in 1880 in a little town called Tuscumbia in the southern state of Alabama in the USA. She became seriously ill when she was just beginning to speak in her childhood. She recovered from illness after some days, but it made her blind and deaf. Only for the first nineteen months of her life, Miss Keller was like any other normal and physically perfect child. Thereafter she entered a world where there is no light, no sound. As Miss Keller grew, her desire to express herself went on increasing. She became more and more angry as she found that she could not make herself understood to others.

However, the day when Miss Anne Mansfield Sullivan came to her as her teacher was the most memorable day in her life. It turned the chapter of her life into a new horizon. From now on her days became meaningful and joyous. She entered the interesting world of the new relationship between words and the things they signify. Children who have the hearing ability can learn their language quickly and easily. They imitate what they listen from people speaking all around them and these newly learned words open up before them a vast world of knowledge and wonder. But a deaf child does not have this natural privilege. Yet from the beginning, Miss Sullivan spoke to Miss Keller, as if, she (Miss Keller) were a normal child. The only difference was that instead of speaking, she would write down the words into Miss Keller’s hand.

List of 500+ Essay Writing Topics and Ideas

It was in 1890 that Helen Keller learnt somehow to speak. Even before actually speaking, she found great amusement in making different noises. While doing so, she kept one hand over the throat and with the other she felt the movement of her own lips. After a long hard process when she learnt to read, in raised letters in Braille’s methods, books on different subjects became an unending source of Helen’s happiness and joy. She also learnt to write also in a special type of typewriter. In the book The Story of My Life an account of the first twenty-two years of Helen Keller’s life has been given. During this time she came into contact with many noble and affectionate persons. All of them had made some contributions to make her life less painful than it would otherwise have been.

In her autobiography, Helen describes her experiences with such ease and sincerity in such a lucid style that it cannot but arouse love and wonder for her. But the most striking feature of this book is her strong will and iron determination to cross all the hurdles of a challenged person in her own life. And, therefore, it has a universal appeal to all the readers throughout the world.
