Essay 1 (250 Words)

Introduction

Life is full of different types of experiences. Everyday passing in our life is not the same. Moreover, is not possible for us to remember every day of our life but there are days or moments of life that are memorable. It is not easy for us to forget that day or the event. The happening of any beautiful or sad event makes that day to be unforgettable from our memories.

The day could be a life-changing moment

There are special moments in everyone’s life. These moments make the day to be the one that we could never forget in our life. These moments could be a bad or good experience. These moments are life-changing moments in the life of many people. We have heard people saying that this incident changed my life totally. It could be something good like getting success, being awarded, finding love, marriage, or bad like death, accident, getting to know about some incurable disease, etc. The reason can be many but the effect of that incident is long-lasting and that day cannot be wiped out from our memory easily.

Complete lockdown due to the outbreak of covid-19 – A day that I could never forget

The days were passing and we were busy in the preparation of the festival of Holi in March 2020. Suddenly there was news shown on the television that state lockdown has been imposed for two days. Later this lockdown was converted into a nationwide lockdown on 25th March 2020. I never had experienced the lockdown before this happened. Everything was stopped in a moment and this kind of situation has never happened before. Therefore this day became an everlasting memory in the life of many people among us.

We cannot go back to the past and live any moment that we want. The memories of these days help us in remembering the same and making that moment alive for us.

I have provided the experience of the never forgetting day of my life in the form of a long essay below. I think it might give you an idea about writing an essay on this topic.

Essay 2 (950 Words) – Unforgettable Moment in My Life Essay

Days and times fly by so fast. Every day in our life is not alike. If we think about our past days it is not easy for us to remember every past day. There are some days that we cannot forget easily and it becomes an everlasting memory for us. We either get excited or depressed when we remind ourselves of the everlasting event of life. It depends upon our experience.

What is an Unforgettable Memory?

I hope nobody in this world has ever thought that any normal day will become an everlasting memory for them. This is such a moment of our life that remains in our memories till we are alive. It can be a good or bad memory. If it is a happy memory we want it to be continued throughout our life ever while if it is sad we never want it to happen again in our life. In both cases, the event becomes unforgettable for us. When we ever face the question about explaining a day that we can never forget, this is the event that first comes to our mind.

My Experiences: Unforgettable Days in My Life

I want to share with you the memories of a day that I can never forget in my life. I really wish this didn’t happen to anyone else in this world. I really become sad whenever I recall the incident. It was a normal day like other days in routine life. I woke up early in the morning and was ready to go to school. Everything went in an easy way as usual. My classes were over and after spending some time with my friends I returned back to my home. I did not go to the coaching classes on that day as I was a little tired and was not feeling well.

In the evening, I was having tea-time with my family. Suddenly someone knocked on my door. She was an aunt in my neighborhood. She told me that one of your school students has committed suicide and the case has come under my husband’s supervision for the postmortem. I was a little sad after hearing this news but continued my activities further.

The Shocking News – There was a phone call on my father’s mobile phone at that time as I was not having my personal mobile phone. I was shocked by what I heard. The student that had committed suicide was none other than my best friend. I really could not understand what to do at that time. Even I could never believe what I heard. Every time I remembered about the afternoon time that we spent together. I never thought that this was the last time I was meeting with her. I could not cry at that moment as I was shocked after hearing this news. I was not having the courage to visit her house or see the dead body. Since it was suicide it became a police case. We have been questioned two or three times in our school premises by the police officers in the investigation of the case.

Later it was confirmed that she was suffering from depression. I knew about this but never thought that she would take the decision of ending her life. She was a meritorious student in the school. There was one day holiday as condolence for her soul. Not only that day but the whole month has been very bad for me. I could not sleep peacefully for many nights.

My friend committed suicide just before one day of her birthday. I was very depressed and sad because I lost her and at the same time was very angry also. I never thought of her to be such a coward to commit suicide. Later I tried to console myself by the thought that it was destiny and could never be changed.

Effects of that Day in My Life – It is because of that day in my life I never tried to make anybody my best friend in my life. It is because everything happened suddenly and I was shocked from inside. Moreover, a fear of losing someone precious from my life has developed in my mind from that day. I think I cannot give her place to anyone in my life. She is still and always will be with me in my memories. I find it very hard to remove the memories of this day in my life.

Are Unforgettable Memories Special for Us?

Man is the most blessed form of the creation of god on this earth. It is because we have been provided with the brain that has a memorizing capacity. The event that we remember becomes happy or sad memories for us. The memories are always special either it is happy or sad because it makes us think about our past events of life. It may happen that some of them would cherish us with a smile and some may bring tears to our eyes. The most important thing is that it connects us with our past events and people that had lived in our previous life experiences and thus these memories are special for us.

The death day of my best friend is a never forgetting memory in my life to date. I cannot forget this because this happened suddenly. This is the day when I realized the value of a friend especially a best friend in my life. I hope that she would be happy wherever she is now and god may give a lot of courage to her parents to endure this loss and pain.

50 Words Essay on A Day I Will Never Forget In English

There are some days that remain in our minds forever, whether they are happy or sad. The day I left the city where I was born will always be etched in my memory. A new city was assigned to my father. The day I had to leave my house was a very sad day for me.

Leaving my friends for the last time was a very painful experience. It was very hard to say goodbye to everyone along the way. This was my last time seeing these surroundings, and I felt sad. My lunch was the only thing I ate that day. It was very hard for me to find words to describe how much I cried and begged my parents not to leave. I still feel sad when I remember that day.

250 Words Essay on A Day I Will Never Forget In English

Sunny and hot weather greeted us that day. My mother called me inside to eat something while I was lying on my back in the front yard. I heard my mother gently call out, “Come, take a bite of this sandwich or two,” as she gently beckoned me to take a bite.

In general, I was a bit of an uncontrollable child when I was growing up, or perhaps you could say naughty. My response was to pretend that I wasn’t aware of what she said. She just said: “Okay, then.” as she is a clever mother. You’ll need to buy bread, I think. The way she said it this time wasn’t so gentle. Due to my failure to respond when I was called, I received this punishment.

Thus, I hurriedly went inside. Unfortunately, it was too late. My mother already had the money in her hands. Her grin spread across her face as she said: “Better now than later when you get hungry…” I began to frown, saying: “Hayi, hayi, hayi, mama!” This means: “No, no, no, mama!”.

The wonderful grin on my mother’s face turned into a huge, horrible frown! Her voice was the most horrendous I’ve ever heard. The way she spoke to me sounded like a lion roaring at its prey: “Amanda, don’t test or I will…”.

In fact, I ran out of the door before she could finish her sentence. I was crossing the street in a hurry when a car slammed into me out of nowhere. The driver asked with concern. “Are you all right?” the driver asked concernedly. The car hit me like a bull tackling a matador in a bullfight, and I’m not sure if those were his exact words.

It had taken me a long time to realize what had happened because I had run like a horse all the way home. This incident has never been brought up with my mother. I found it strange that all my mother noticed was that I wasn’t hungry anymore. The only thing she said was: “Did you eat from this bread, little one? It made us both laugh. My memories of this day will last a lifetime.

400 Words Essay on A Day I Will Never Forget In English

It was a happy childhood for me, thanks to my loving parents and the big brown house my parents lived in. A big brown house and two loving parents made me a happy child. I used to spend hours playing hide-and-seek or tagging with my friends in my backyard during the summer. As children, we would pretend to be explorers searching for old treasures or knights battling evil dragons to save princesses.

A brown and white trim was also seen on the house next door. We felt like we were in an enchanted forest with its huge trees shading our backyard. The snow that accumulated at the edge of our yards in the winter would be used to make snowmen. In the end, we made angels by piling all our clothes on top of one another instead of making snowmen out of them.

Laughter echoed off the walls as I ran up and down the stairs. I used to play this game with my sister. Running up and down the stairs was a game we would take turns playing. It was a race between the bottom and top to see who could catch the other. Getting caught meant going up and down again.

During our daily activities, we never paid attention to how much energy we used or how it affected our hearts, lungs, and muscles. It just seemed like fun to us. When he was a boy, my dad used to tell me stories. Sitting there and listening to him tell me stories from his childhood, I would hear stories about my dad as a boy.

Whenever he talked about fishing with his friends, he’d tell me about it. At times, they caught something, but at other times, they had nothing to show for their efforts. Whenever he spoke too much at school, he got into trouble, and if the teacher saw him chewing gum in class, he got into even more trouble.

The stories he told always made me laugh. His life had never been better. One of the most memorable days of my life. His life was at its best during that time. It will always be a memorable day for me. Looking up at him from the front row, I was in the front row. When he said, “This is the best day of my whole life,” he looked directly at me.

Conclusion,

A moment cannot be relived in the past. Remembering these days helps us make those moments alive for us and keep them alive in our minds.

The Day I Will Never Forget Short Essay In 100 To 500 Words Words

The day that I will never forget is etched into the corridors of my memory like a timeless piece of art. It was a day of immense significance, a day that rewrote the script of my life in bold and vivid strokes. Allow me to take you on a journey to that unforgettable day.

Essay On The Day I Will Never Forget Essay In 100 To 500 Words Words

It was the 5th of May in the year 2009, a day when the sun beamed down with all its might, casting a warm and golden embrace upon my hometown of Elmwood Park, nestled snugly in the heart of New Jersey. This day, with its tranquil breeze carrying whispers of summer, held the promise of a joyful Memorial Day celebration, a time when families from every corner of the town would gather to honor the past and embrace the present. The streets were lined with anticipation as the Memorial Day Parade took center stage, boasting its vibrant procession of dancing spirits and resonant marching bands. A day for cheer and jubilation, or so I thought.

As I stood amid the boisterous crowd, allowing my senses to drink in the kaleidoscope of sights and sounds, an unexpected epiphany dawned upon me. It was as if the universe, in its infinite wisdom, gently tapped me on the shoulder, inviting me to peer through a different lens. In that unassuming moment, the world around me seemed to slow down, allowing me to reflect on the ephemeral nature of life itself. This epiphany, unassuming as it may be, carved a niche within my soul, urging me to embrace every moment as if it were a precious gem.

Life, I realized, was a delicate tapestry, woven with threads of uncertainty and beauty. Each day, each second, was a stroke on this canvas of existence, and I resolved then and there to paint it with hues of gratitude, love, and presence. The simplicity of that moment resonated deeply, a beacon of wisdom amidst the colorful chaos of the parade.

In the wake of that transformative realization, my outlook on life underwent a profound metamorphosis. The mundane assumed a new allure, and the ordinary became extraordinary. I found myself savoring the taste of my morning coffee, relishing the laughter of my friends, and basking in the warmth of the sun’s embrace. The pageantry of life’s grandest moments paled in comparison to the quiet beauty of the everyday. Gratitude flourished within me, a fragrant blossom that perfumed every facet of my being.

However, life is seldom a tranquil river; it is a tumultuous sea with tides that ebb and flow, sometimes with a ferocity that catches us off guard. As the years rolled on, I encountered my share of challenges – personal, professional, and emotional. Yet, armed with the lesson of that unforgettable day, I navigated these tempests with a newfound resilience. In the face of adversity, I clung to the simple yet profound truth: every storm eventually gives way to a calm horizon.

The day I will never forget wasn’t just a picturesque memory; it became a roadmap for navigating the labyrinth of life. It taught me that while we cannot control the winds that blow our way, we can adjust our sails and steer our course with unwavering determination. It beckoned me to find solace in the arms of gratitude during moments of despair and to seek joy even in the shadows of sorrow.

In conclusion, the day I will never forget stands as a beacon of light in the tapestry of my life, a day when a seemingly ordinary moment transformed into an extraordinary revelation. It was a day that whispered profound truths in the language of simplicity, reminding me to embrace life’s uncertainties and dance in its fleeting embrace. That day sculpted me into a person who understands the significance of cherishing every heartbeat and treasuring every breath. It is a day that I carry with me, a lodestar guiding me through life’s vast ocean, inspiring me to sail onward, undeterred by the tides of fate.

Narrative Essay on The Day I never forget

There are moments in life that leave an indelible mark on our hearts and minds, shaping us into who we are. These experiences, often unexpected, can change our perspective, teach us valuable lessons, or simply remind us of the beauty and fragility of life. One such day that I will never forget occurred during the summer before my final year of high school, a day that started like any other but ended up teaching me about courage, loss, and the power of community.

The Morning Calm

The day began with the usual tranquility of a summer morning. The sun’s golden rays gently pierced through my window, casting a warm glow across my room. Birds chirped harmoniously, creating a melody that signaled the start of a new day. I woke up feeling refreshed and eager to enjoy my day off from school and part-time job responsibilities. Little did I know, this day would be far from ordinary.

The Unexpected Call

As I was enjoying my breakfast, the phone rang, shattering the morning’s peace. It was my friend Alex, whose voice trembled with urgency. “There’s a huge fire at the community center!” he exclaimed. My heart skipped a beat. The community center was not just a building; it was the heart of our small town, a place where people of all ages came together for various activities and support. Without a second thought, I told Alex I would meet him there.

The Scene at the Community Center

Arriving at the community center, I was met with a scene of chaos and desperation. Thick plumes of smoke billowed into the sky, and flames devoured the structure that had stood as a beacon of unity in our community. Firefighters battled the blaze, but the fire’s ferocity was overwhelming. Community members gathered, many in tears, as they watched decades of memories turn to ash.

Joining the Effort

Despite the despair that hung heavy in the air, there was a sense of unity among the onlookers. People started organizing, offering whatever help they could. I joined a group of volunteers helping to move equipment and salvageable items from the parts of the building not yet engulfed by flames. The heat was intense, and the smoke made it difficult to see and breathe, but the collective determination to save what we could, fueled our efforts.

A Lesson in Courage and Loss

As the day wore on, the reality of the situation sank in. The fire, sparked by an electrical fault, had consumed much of the community center. The loss was not just physical; it was emotional. Programs for children, support groups for the elderly, and spaces for community gatherings were gone. Yet, amid the loss, there was courage. The bravery of the firefighters, risking their lives to contain the fire, and the resilience of the community, coming together in the face of adversity, taught me about the strength of the human spirit.

The Power of Community

In the days that followed, the true power of community became evident. Fundraisers were organized, and plans were made to rebuild the community center. People from all walks of life contributed in whatever way they could, showing that the spirit of our community was not lost but strengthened by the tragedy. This collective effort highlighted the importance of community support and resilience.

The Best Day of My Life Essay

The best day of my life is my 16th birthday. It is a day I will never forget in my life. I consider it till now my best birthday. All my relatives and friends were present at my birthday party. The best part of the party was my grandmother was present there. For the last time, she prepared all the food items I loved eating. It is even more special as it was the last day that I spent with her, after which she passed away. I spent the most time with her and she also enjoyed herself a lot with me for the last time in her life. This birthday is even more special as it was my last birthday with my grandmother.

The best day of my life was when I went on a school outing with my friends. We ate delicious food and enjoyed the day to the fullest.

I woke up at 6 am and got ready for school. My mother dropped me to school. From there we went to a science park by bus. During the entire journey we danced, sang, played games, and did many more fun activities. We ate snacks and played games with our teacher also. When we arrived we visited the science city and enjoyed every bit of it.

Besides the science park, it was a water park, so we quickly changed our clothes and jumped into the pool. We enjoyed ourselves in the pool, and we kept on playing for an hour. After that, we took a bath and changed clothes. We had rice and chicken for our lunch. We loved the food. After the food, we returned by bus. During the whole bus journey, we sang and danced.

This day is memorable as I could spend it with my friends. The day was a day to be remembered. We had so much fun together. Everything is worth remembering from the beginning to the end of the journey.

Life is full of events - both good and bad. Some things will be forgotten over time, and some will stay in your heart forever. Life is full of surprises and shocks, good and bad news, and unexpected turns. Fortune can benefit some people in life, and help them to reach the pinnacle of glory and happiness.

The Best Day of My Life

Recently I received the best gift from my dad. Since childhood, I always wanted a dog, and recently he had brought me one. I was studying in my room, dad entered my room with a labrador in his hands. I jumped from my bed with happiness. I also started crying as I could not believe my eyes. My mom and dad were always against having a dog. But he brought it, and made it the best day of my life.

Significance of My Best Day

I still remember myself bursting into tears and happiness at the same time. That night I held Bruno the whole time. The next moment I saw myself buying stuff for the dog. I bought food, clothes, toys, and many more things which would make him happy. That night I held him tight and slept beside him. I could not sleep the whole night due to the excitement.

I looked at him throughout the entire night with utmost happiness and surprise. That day was the best day of my life as I got my best friend. A best friend who would never leave me. A best friend who will always be there for me whenever I need him.A best friend who will make me the happiest. A friend who will love me to the fullest. That dog gave me the ultimate happiness and, this is how the day became the best day of my life. I named the dog Bruno.

I am always looking for him whenever I come back from school. He always jumps, licks me, and wags his tail after seeing me. My friends come along with me to play with him. Bruno also became their friend.

What I Love about My Dog

The thing that I love about Bruno the most is that he can gel well with people. My sister was not that comfortable with dogs. But Bruno made her fall in love with him. They are now the best of friends. He would jump in happiness whenever he saw him. She would also run toward him and would pick him up. She feeds him food and always brings toys and treats for him. She loves her to the fullest and, at the same time he loves her to the fullest. This is how Bruno became everyone's favourite.

Every person has some happy days and some bad days in their life. Both help people learn different things from these different experiences. But the happy days are worth remembering. They help you cheer on your days of sadness and bring back all the memories that are worth cherishing. The best day has a great impact on our life.

When you are assigned a descriptive essay, you’ll normally be given a specific prompt or choice of prompts. They will often ask you to describe something from your own experience.

  • Describe a place you love to spend time in.
  • Describe an object that has sentimental value for you.

You might also be asked to describe something outside your own experience, in which case you’ll have to use your imagination.

  • Describe the experience of a soldier in the trenches of World War I.
  • Describe what it might be like to live on another planet.

Sometimes you’ll be asked to describe something more abstract, like an emotion.

If you’re not given a specific prompt, try to think of something you feel confident describing in detail. Think of objects and places you know well, that provoke specific feelings or sensations, and that you can describe in an interesting way.

Prevent plagiarism. Run a free check.

The key to writing an effective descriptive essay is to find ways of bringing your subject to life for the reader. You’re not limited to providing a literal description as you would be in more formal essay types.

Make use of figurative language, sensory details, and strong word choices to create a memorable description.

Use figurative language

Figurative language consists of devices like metaphor and simile that use words in non-literal ways to create a memorable effect. This is essential in a descriptive essay; it’s what gives your writing its creative edge and makes your description unique.

Take the following description of a park.

This tells us something about the place, but it’s a bit too literal and not likely to be memorable.

If we want to make the description more likely to stick in the reader’s mind, we can use some figurative language.

Here we have used a simile to compare the park to a face and the trees to facial hair. This is memorable because it’s not what the reader expects; it makes them look at the park from a different angle.

You don’t have to fill every sentence with figurative language, but using these devices in an original way at various points throughout your essay will keep the reader engaged and convey your unique perspective on your subject.

Use your senses

Another key aspect of descriptive writing is the use of sensory details. This means referring not only to what something looks like, but also to smell, sound, touch, and taste.

Obviously not all senses will apply to every subject, but it’s always a good idea to explore what’s interesting about your subject beyond just what it looks like.

Even when your subject is more abstract, you might find a way to incorporate the senses more metaphorically, as in this descriptive essay about fear.

Choose the right words

Writing descriptively involves choosing your words carefully. The use of effective adjectives is important, but so is your choice of adverbs , verbs , and even nouns.

It’s easy to end up using clichéd phrases—“cold as ice,” “free as a bird”—but try to reflect further and make more precise, original word choices. Clichés provide conventional ways of describing things, but they don’t tell the reader anything about your unique perspective on what you’re describing.

Try looking over your sentences to find places where a different word would convey your impression more precisely or vividly. Using a thesaurus can help you find alternative word choices.

  • My cat runs across the garden quickly and jumps onto the fence to watch it from above.
  • My cat crosses the garden nimbly and leaps onto the fence to survey it from above.

However, exercise care in your choices; don’t just look for the most impressive-looking synonym you can find for every word. Overuse of a thesaurus can result in ridiculous sentences like this one:

  • My feline perambulates the allotment proficiently and capers atop the palisade to regard it from aloft.

An example of a short descriptive essay, written in response to the prompt “Describe a place you love to spend time in,” is shown below.

Hover over different parts of the text to see how a descriptive essay works.

On Sunday afternoons I like to spend my time in the garden behind my house. The garden is narrow but long, a corridor of green extending from the back of the house, and I sit on a lawn chair at the far end to read and relax. I am in my small peaceful paradise: the shade of the tree, the feel of the grass on my feet, the gentle activity of the fish in the pond beside me.

My cat crosses the garden nimbly and leaps onto the fence to survey it from above. From his perch he can watch over his little kingdom and keep an eye on the neighbours. He does this until the barking of next door’s dog scares him from his post and he bolts for the cat flap to govern from the safety of the kitchen.

With that, I am left alone with the fish, whose whole world is the pond by my feet. The fish explore the pond every day as if for the first time, prodding and inspecting every stone. I sometimes feel the same about sitting here in the garden; I know the place better than anyone, but whenever I return I still feel compelled to pay attention to all its details and novelties—a new bird perched in the tree, the growth of the grass, and the movement of the insects it shelters…

Sitting out in the garden, I feel serene. I feel at home. And yet I always feel there is more to discover. The bounds of my garden may be small, but there is a whole world contained within it, and it is one I will never get tired of inhabiting.

The key difference is that a narrative essay is designed to tell a complete story, while a descriptive essay is meant to convey an intense description of a particular place, object, or concept.

Narrative and descriptive essays both allow you to write more personally and creatively than other kinds of essays , and similar writing skills can apply to both.

If you’re not given a specific prompt for your descriptive essay , think about places and objects you know well, that you can think of interesting ways to describe, or that have strong personal significance for you.

The best kind of object for a descriptive essay is one specific enough that you can describe its particular features in detail—don’t choose something too vague or general.

Back to: English Language Primary 6

Welcome to today’s class!!

We are excited to have you join our class!!

In today’s English class, we will learning about Composition: A Day I Will Never Forget

Composition can mean two things. It can mean a piece of writing, or it can mean the art and process of writing.

Composition is not a specific type of writing like an essay . Instead, it’s a term that can refer to any written work that is true and how a piece is written.

As a result of this, sometimes you might be asked to write a composition for class.

In today’s class, we’ll be looking at an interesting topic to write about.

A Day I Will Never Forget

My name is Sarah Adebajo. A day I will never forget is the day I visited Ibadan With my family.

a day I will never forget

It was the first time my father had announced that we will be traveling out of Lagos for the first time. I was 9 years old and in primary 5, and we had just started our summer holidays.

Everyone in my family was happy. My mother had gone to the popular Lagos Island market in Balogun to buy clothes and the Oyingbo market in Yaba to buy foodstuffs. It was an exciting moment for us all!

My father drove my mother, my older brother and sister and myself to Ibadan two days after we returned from the market.

We had a wonderful time in Ibadan just as we expected as we visited friends and families who welcomed my family and gave my siblings and I plenty of money.

The composition tells the story of Sarah Adebajo, who talks about how interesting her trip was with her family and how it became a day she will never forget.

Explain why an essay is different from a composition.

Unforgettable Fishing Trip

I remember it like it was yesterday blood was everywhere; my pants leg was soaked and weighted down from the bleeding. The bottom of the truck had turned into a crimson sea of red. The throbbing in my thigh had been replaced with numbness and nausea. As everything started to fade, I remember my cousin Joe saying over and over in a nervous voice, "You will be okay, just hang in There..." Fishing is one of my favorite things to do but there is one fishing trip that I will never forget.

Earlier that day, my cousin Joe, called and talked me into a fishing trip. Normally, it did not take much coercing or twisting of my arm to get me on the water, but it was the hottest days we had in awhile. It was June of 2002 and I lived in Baltimore at the time.

Joe came up with the brilliant idea of night fishing, and assured me the monster bass were on the prowl in the cool evening. We gathered our back packs and tackle boxes and loaded them with our favorite fishing gear, filled the cooler with food and beer, and purchased enough bait to catch every fish in the reservoir. This had become a monthly ritual, which usually ended with a lake full of overfed fish and two over indulged fishermen walking through the woods at night.

Later that evening, we were at Loch Raven, and after a few hours of goofing off, we decided to feed our selves, instead of feeding the fish. Joe pulled some sandwiches out of the cooler. The only light we had were two lanterns used to attract bugs, which in-turn would attract fish, or so that was the theory. It seemed to only attract bug...

A day I'll never forget

The day was hot and sunny. I was lying in the front yard on my back when my mother called me inside to have something to eat.

“Come, my darling, and take a piece of a sandwich or two,” my mother gently called.

But, I was always a bit of an uncontrollable child – or might I say, a naughty child – when I was growing up. So I pretended that I didn’t hear her. As my mother is a clever mom, she just said: “Okay then. I think that you are going to have to go and buy bread. This time she didn’t say it so gently. This was punishment for not responding when I was called.

So, I quickly went inside. But, it was too little too late. The money was already in my mother’s hands. With a grin on her face, she said: “Better now than when you start to get hungry…”

I started to frown, saying, “Hayi, hayi, hayi, mama!” That is: “No, no, no, mama” in isiXhosa.

My mother’s wonderful grin turned to a frown – a big horrible frown! She spoke in the most horrible voice – I think she sounded like a lion roaring at its prey – letting me know clearly: “Amanda, don’t test or I will…”

Before she even finished her sentence, I ran out of the door, heading straight for the shop.

When I was crossing the road in a hurry, a car came out of the blue and knocked me out.

“Are you OK?” the driver asked with concern. I’m still not sure if those were his exact words because I was dizzy from the car hitting me like a bull tackling the matador in a bull fight.

By the time I realised what had happened, I had run so fast – like a horse in the Durban July – all the way home.

Until this day, I’ve never told my mother about this incident. How strange it is that all my mother noticed was that I was not hungry anymore.

She only said: “What, did you eat from this bread, little child?” I laughed, she laughed.

I will never forget this day.

The Day I Will Never Forget

Cassandra SmithOctober 13, 2011 EnglishFormal 2 The Day I Will Never Forget The hardest thing I had to face in my life when I was younger was when I was thirteen. That day would be July 14, 2005 and it is the day my grandmother passed away . My family and I went through so much about seven months prior to her passing. We got through the tragedy. She was eighty-two years old at the time. I will never forget her telling me the night before that she had to go to the doctors for a check-up meanwhile I was in school but when I got home, I would go right up to my grandmas.

We lived on the same property. That day I went up there I remember her telling me that she had cancer and the doctors gave her six months to live, maximum. I was devastated and I didn’t know what to think. I was so close with her so it was hard for me to handle. We moved into her house three months before she went and we took care of her while no one else. That summer morning on July 14, 2005, I remember my parents, my brother and I sitting on the porch. My cousin came over to see her around 8:30 and then she left because she had to head to work.

It was ten minutes to nine and I laid on the couch that was located on the porch. I remember how everything was set up. I remember the living room, the porch, just everything in that house. The couch was a sand tan color with a floral design and a table diagonal from where it sat. Nine o’clock rolled around, my father walked in to see if she was alright but when he came back to the porch he said, “She’s gone”. Those words hit me like a meteorite falling out of the sky hitting Earth. I immediately started crying because it just didn’t seem real to me.

The crazy thing is a few days before she passed I made a picture of a cross with the date and year of when she was going to die and my picture was right. It was just scary. That day and the next few weeks were chaos. My father had to call all the family, set up the obituary and the funeral services. The next few days I would cry myself to sleep, cry all day. I didn’t know how to cope with what was going on around me, I was only thirteen. My parents called the funeral home and told them what happened; the directors came and took her.

The family didn’t want my brother or I in the house so they sent us back to my house. Of course, I put up a fight because I didn’t want to leave, I didn’t want her dead. I wanted her here. The following week was hectic with the funeral arrangements, sitting down and talking about everything so it could go in the paper. I stayed in my room on the computer while the family gathered in my living room to talk about what they wanted to write for the piece. My cousin took my brother and I shopping in Kingston to get an outfit for the funeral; I didn’t know what to pick out but my brother found his right away.

The following year was the hardest because I knew she was gone. I knew I couldn’t just walk across the drive way to visit her like I normally would have, I can’t sit with her and watch television, I can’t sit and help her with her word search books. All I thought was why did she have to go so soon? I didn’t want to accept it but it was life and I had to accept it; it was reality that I had to face. I talked to my dad about how I felt and what was going on and both my parents supported me through the whole thing. My mom and my dad knew how close I was with her.

Two years later, my house burnt down while I was at school and when I arrived home I was just worried about my dad and the rest of my family. The one thing that was crazy in the house was there was one picture of my dad’s family on the wall and the fire never touched it; all my family had the instinct that my grandmother was in the house as the guardian angel. I know that she is looking down on me and my family because of the events that have taken place from when she passed up until now but I know she will be looking down on me all the way up until I die.

A Day I Will Never Forget: Happy Experience

hug photo

Suddenly, the telephone rang and I saw my mother pick it up. “Hello,” she said

Then there was a long moment of silence. Without saying another word, she clicked the receiver down. I looked at her through the window. There was confusion and excitement mixed in her face. I walked over quickly to her.

“Mom,” I said. “Are you OK?”

But she was as speechless as though she had seen a ghost. After about 60 seconds of deafening silence, she opened her mouth. “Get ready,” she said. Take a shower quickly! We’re going to the airport!

I had so many questions at that point, but my mother’s expression made me bottle them all up. I hurried to the shower.

By the time I was done dressing, a car pulled up. We locked the house and got in. We were headed to the airport.

On the way there, my mom told me all the exciting details of my older brother whom I  never knew I had.

He was adopted as a baby and taken to the USA. He was just one year older than I was. And his adopted parents were bringing him because he wanted to see me. As we waited on the corridor while the passengers disembarked, I wondered how I was going to recognize my brother whom I had never seen before.

Then, from among the crowd, my eyes glanced a lad who seemed just a few inches taller than I was. But his eyes were just like mine. His skin was just like mine. And so was his smile.

Suddenly, his eyes caught mine and we froze for a while. Then we ran and hugged each other.

Narrative Essay: A Day I Will Never Forget?

Show More On July 19, 2010, was a day I will never forget. It was a bright sunny day as the sun began to rose in the city of Woodbridge. The day began early as I woke up and eat some cereal and I was thinking to hang out with my friends at the time. I have always hated how my parents don’t give me enough respect as they treated me like a little kid. When, they said no I went back to my room to play video games and they suggested I went to the backyard and chill. While growing up, I alway hated going outside exploring and adventuring the wilderness. I was young boy and didn’t know better than just playing video games. That one day, I my parents forced me to go outside and enjoy the outdoors or else they would have taken my video games. Evergreen Trees Creative Writing

The evergreen trees trapped under a pile of ashes, sweat, blood, guarded the aftermath of the winds, the fire, the storm, from them. It’s not easy to pick out what buildings were houses–that people once lived in–or where those thousands had gone. After a while, the excitement of the cameras and flashes faded into a wave of heat choking out the last bit of life, the thousands left to walk into the invisibility of the air. The strong, invincible forest, evaporated into its vulnerability. By this time, people had forgotten about the serenity that the trees once breathed out: disgusted by the uselessness of the uprooted stumps– pitifully clinging onto the earth.…

My Experience : Unforgettable day in my life

I want to share with you the memories of a day in my life, which I can never forget in my life. Actually what happened in my life I don't want this to happen to anyone else. Whenever I remember that incident in life, I get very sad. In my regular life, this day was also like a normal life.

That day I woke up early in the morning and got ready to go to school. Everything was as usual as usual. My class was over and I was back at my home after spending some time with my friends. That day I didn't go for my coaching class because I was tired and not feeling well.

It was evening and I was having tea with my family. Then suddenly someone knocked on my door, she was my neighbour's aunt. She told us that a student of my own school has committed suicide and her postmortem is being done under the supervision of her husband. I was very surprised to hear this news, I was also a little sad but I continued with what I was doing.

Shocking news - that day I got a call on my father's mobile as I didn't have any personal mobile phone with me in those days. Later I was shocked to hear whatever my father said. The student who committed suicide was none other than my best friend. Hearing all this, I really didn't know what to do or what to say. Whatever I heard, I could not believe it. I started remembering all the days that we used to spend together in the afternoon.

I never thought that this would be my last meeting when I met him in the afternoon. I was so shocked by this news that I could not speak and I could not even cry. I was not daring to go to his house and see his dead body. Since it was a case of suicide, it became a police case. To investigate the matter, the police had come to our school premises and interrogated us 2-3 times.

It was later revealed that he was in depression. I knew about his depression but I never thought he would decide to end his life like this. He was a very meritorious student of the school. A day off was also kept in the school for the peace of his soul. Not only that day of my life but that whole month of mine was bad. In those days I could not even sleep peacefully for many nights.

My friend committed suicide just a day before his birthday. I was very sad and sad because I had lost my true friend. Along with this, I was also very angry. I never thought that he would be so timid as to commit suicide. Later I consoled myself by explaining that this is a game of nature and destiny, no one can ever change it.

Impact of that day in my life - I have never tried to make anyone my best friend in my life because of the incident that happened on that day. All this happened so suddenly that I was very shocked from inside. After that day I started living a bit scared too. From that day I always think that this life has no confidence as to what will happen to it. From that day onwards, the fear of losing someone in my mind always remains in my mind.

I find it very difficult to remove the memories of that day in my life. I feel very sad remembering the moments spent with him and I feel like I will never be able to forgive myself for that.

Are unforgettable memories special to us ?

Man is the most important form of God's creation on this earth. Man is the only creature on this earth who has been given a brain by God, which stores the capacity of our memories. Whatever happens in our life is either happy or sad. Memories are always special in life, these memories make us feel happy and sometimes sad because it is about the past events of our life which are included in our memories.

It may happen that some of those memories are cherished with a smile and some make our eyes moist. Most importantly, it connects us to our past events and our past life experiences. In this way these memories are very special for us.

The day my best friend died is a memory I will never forget in my life. It all happened so suddenly that I will never forget it. It was a day when I understood the feeling of losing a good friend of mine in my life. I hope that wherever he is now, wherever he is, he will be happy in the world. I pray to God for the peace of his soul. May God give courage to his parents to bear the pain of his loss and bring them back from the loss of his son.
