As you have requested, I have written a short self-introduction and my family background. This is precisely my story of life in the past, now, and in the future.

I was born and raised in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. These words might sound strange and inconsequential to you, but memories of that place give me true energy and motivation. My mother, a native of Turkey, is a homemaker. My father, whose mother was also Turkish, lived all his life on the territory of Saudi Arabia. He used to work for Saudi Arabia Airlines. There are five children in our family: one boy and four girls. I know, it’s a rare case for an average American family – 5 children. And some people might think it was hard to grow up in such a populous family, but for Saudi Arabia – it’s normal. Each child got all the attention and love they needed, and, in general, it was fun having a big family. Sometimes I miss our crowded home much. Bet you also sometimes family backgrounds such things.

How Background Family Influenced My Interests

My hobbies include cooking, scuba diving and spearfishing. You might thing that all of my hobbies are somewhat interconnected Well, yes. Sometimes. Being underwater gives me an unbearable feeling of freedom, something similar to Alice’s Wonderland – the world there is completely different. Just image the coral riffs and all kinds of fish, shimmering with rainbow colors in the mysterious underwater sunlight. Don’t you think it’s amazing? When I graduated from high school, I got my scuba diving license and decided to enroll to Faculty of Marine Sciences. Unfortunately, my parents made me change my mind.

My Past and Current Achievements Thanks to Family Background

My background family has influenced my past achievements and future goals. My first achievement for now, I am a 3rd year student at University of Michigan, and my major is Healthcare Management. This phrase seems so easy, doesn’t it? Unfortunately, it cannot describe to you all the difficulties I went through to get to where I am now.

Secondly, the hardest part of my education in the U.S. were first two years of learning English in Eastern Washington University. I started studying Mechanical Engineering at first, but this major was hard for me, because of lots of math. And that’s why I’ve transferred to University of Michigan to study Healthcare.

Thirdly, I am truly proud of myself for leaving my country and finding my American Dream. I have heard people saying that there’s no American Dream anymore, but I still believe in this concept: there is an aim, and everything is achievable. American dream in action! Living and studying is also some kind of a Wonderland: everything is so different, especially people and relationships between them.

Fourthly, my university sent me a letter to congratulate me on my outstanding achievements of making the Dean's List for my first semester. This is truly exceptional, since English language is my third Language and it was hard for me to successfully finish that semester.

Fifthly, when I got my acceptance letter from Eastern Washington University to University of Michigan, I drove my car from Washington State to Michigan State on my own and I couldn't believe that everything was possible without any help.

Impacts of Family Backgrounds to My Life Goals

Thanks to my backgrounds family, I really enjoy life in the U.S. and my current life goals now is, first of all, graduating from University and finding a job here for gaining some experience. Then, I am planning to come back to my native country and continue practicing there. And, finally, when I make a career, I’ll get married and lead a happy life in Saudi Arabia. My mind is currently busy with my education. I want to become a good professional who will help people, ordinary men and women, lead their lives. I like my specialization and already have good life plan, which is the most important thing.

Sometimes during the weekends, we usually spend most of our time on the beach swimming, except on church days. As a family, our favorite food is deep-fried fish, rice, and vegetables. My mother is a housewife. It is our mother who takes care of our studies as our father is often busy with his official assignments and even travels for days together. We just miss him when he is not at home.

He never scolds us. But, our mother is just the opposite. She wants us to remain disciplined and we often get scolded by her. However, our father comes to our rescue most of the times. My brother, still in school is the one with whom I love to spend my time the most. Not because I love to play with him, but because, being the elder sister, I enjoy instructing him and showing him who is more powerful at home. He, at a time, seems so helpless when our mother says to obey his sister. I just love that moment. But not all days are the same. I hate having to study all along while he gets to play more than me.

The Atmosphere in my Family:

We largely have a peaceful atmosphere at home. After school, our time is spent on studying, playing and watching television, which of course our mother does not like. Unlike other couples, my mother and father seldom have a fight. In fact, as soon we see an argument brewing up, one of them just withdraws and it is just rare to see a heated conversation between them. This is what I like the most about them as I feel that my parents are so cool. It is only me and brother who love to fight with each other.

However, we know that behind those fights, it is actually our love for each other which binds us together. I just enjoy being at home spending time with my parents and my brother. I just feel how bad it would be when tomorrow I and my brother shall move on for our professional lives and we shall not be able to spend much time together. However, it is the memories of today which shall be with me forever and will bring a smile on my face anytime when I feel low.

The Importance of a Family:

A family is said to be the first school of a child. It is from here you start to learn how to speak, walk and interact with the world. It is important to value the importance of a family in one’s life. At times, people feel that they are grown-ups and that their parent’s advice does not matter anymore, but that is not true. It is the elders of the family who at any given of time would know the world better than us and we should all respect our family members and love our siblings as well. This is one of my family values that I cherish so much and I am proud that it is what my family hold in high esteem.

2. Kindness to Others:

This is not a common trait to all. My mom has this belief that if the world and everybody in it shows love and kindness to one another, there will be no hatred and wars will be eradicated. This is a family value that we cherish so much. I learnt to show love to everybody. Even when we did not have much, my parents will still give to those who are needy. My dad says that the world is like a river, we would eventually flow into one another later and you do not know the future, the person you helped today might eventually be of help to you tomorrow.

3. Education:

This is a value that has been passed from generation to generation in my family. My dad would say that education is the best legacy you can give to a child. My family does everything in their capacity for you to get a sound and benefitting education. The acquisition of knowledge is also quite important. All of us try to gain more and more knowledge because we all have a family slogan that says “knowledge is power and that power makes me a hero.”

4. Dress and Appearance:

This is a religious value we cherish in my family. My dad would say that you are addressed the way you dress. I do not want to be address wrongly and give out a wrong impression. So, our appearance really matter a lot to us and the way we dress.

He taught me to be contented with whatever I have. We did not have much when I was growing up; my dad lost his job and still did not allow anything of the pressure change how he behaved to us at home. He is caring, gentle, accommodating and disciplined.

My mum is the best cook in the world. I do not know where I would be today without my mum. I owe her a lot. She is a teacher by profession and this fascinates me a lot because not only is she inculcating knowledge in the young minds of tomorrow, she is also building the future of our society at large. I want to be like my mum. I remember those times when she had to sacrifice when the most precious of her things just to make me happy. She is loving, caring, understanding, accommodating. In fact, she is everything you can ever wish for in a mother.

My elder sisters are the best. Although they can be frustrating sometimes but that is mostly because of my stubbornness. They pretend they do not really care but deep inside they do. The things they do even subconsciously say otherwise. I remember a day in elementary school, I was being bullied a boy in class. On this particular day, he hit me. Unknowing to me, my sister heard about it and she beat the boy and made him apologise to me, I felt so happy that day because I had someone who had my back.

My brother is one of the best gifts I have received. He is the last child and this gives him an opportunity to be annoying if you know what I mean. He is joyful and always ready to heed correction. There was this day, I heard him bragging to his friends about how awesome I am, and I was the happiest that day.

We all have one reason or the other on why we love our family. I love mine because they are the best gift I could ever ask for and the fact that they have been there for me through the good, bad and funny times.

We have various things that can help our family bond to improve.

A few of them include:

1. Love: love is the most important thing we need for our bonds as a family to improve. When we love the members in our family, we will also be able to know all about privacy, intimacy, caring, belonging and sharing. When there is love in a family, the family will prosper.

2. Loyalty: loyalty is something that comes as a result of love. Family members should stay devoted to each other. It is important that we are able to count on our family to have our back anytime we are facing problems.

The importance of family can never be overstated even though we live in a different time now and our attitudes to relationships, marriage and what a family should be has changed. The family is something that we need to help share our problems and be there for us anytime we have issues. A lot of the things that were not acceptable in the past and we now see as normal. Even with all the changes that the society has effected on our family system, the family still remains the major foundation of our society and this will remain the same.

My family is the best gift I have got. A family can be simply said to mean a social group of different people in our society that includes one or more parents and also their children. In a family, every member of the family commits to other members of the family in a mutual relationship. A family is a very important unit and the smallest unit in the society. I am from a middle class and average family with six members (my father, my mother, my grandmother, my grandfather, my younger brother and me). My grandfather is the head of the family and we all respect and listen to him. He is really wise and tries to advise each and every one of us using his many life experiences. He has been involved in many interesting and adventurous activities that he tells me about all the time. Most of the time, he has the final say on all of our family issues and he does his best to make all his decisions impartial.

Any time we are eating today as a family, he sits at the top of the table; we all have designated seats at the dining table. When my brother and I are available, my grandfather teaches us about our traditions and cultures. My grandfather is very friendly and has a cool and great personality and tries to talk nicely and calmly to everyone passing across his message without being rude. He helps my brother and sometimes me with our assignments. He majorly teaches us about all of the tools we need to be successful in life including punctuality, discipline, moral, cleanliness, continuity, honesty, hard work and trustworthiness.

My lovely grandmother is one of the nicest people I know, she tells my brother and I lovely stories every night. My father is a civil engineer and he is very hardworking, sincere and punctual. He is the breadwinner of the family and does his best to provide for every member of the family even if that means he has to work extra hours. My mother is very sweet and takes care of every member of the family even though she works as an accountant at a firm. She wakes up very early in the morning to make preparations for the day. My brother is a funny and jovial person that enjoys sporting activities and I love him so much.

Sometimes I wish my cousins, uncles and aunts lived with us, I love having them around. There are a lot of advantages and disadvantages of having everyone around. I have highlighted some below.

Some advantages are:

1. It gives a better routine of living that can contribute to a proper growth.

2. Having a joint family helps in following the numerous principles of an equitable economy and helps teach discipline and respect. It also teaches us how to share the burden of other family members.

3. There is the understanding of having to adjust to the needs of other family members.

4. The children in a large family get to grow up in a happy environment because they have children of their age around that they can play with.

5. All the members of a joint family are usually very disciplined and responsible as everyone has to follow the instructions of the family head.

Some of the disadvantages include:

1. There is always the chance of a rift or fight between the family members because of the possible imbalance of feelings of oneness, brotherly love and feeling of generosity.

2. There is a chance of the members of the family that earn very high looking down on members of the family that do not.

Families influence the lives of individuals from childhood to adulthood especially in decisions concerning life milestones like marriage and career paths. The relationships in the family are strong such that cousins are considered siblings and aunts and uncles are considered parents. Family also means the unconditional love among the members of the family whereby there is support in terms of finances and emotions.

I come from a big family. My family has not moved to an urban area and so we still live as a wider circle together with the extended family. In my nuclear family, I am the first born of four children. I have one sister and two brothers who are still at school. I have three aunts and two uncles. My cousins are twelve in number and most of them are at school except for the youngest ones.

My grandparents are very old and they do not get out of the house much and are being taken care by my parents and aunts. Most of the children are always at school and the house gets quiet but during holiday, we all unite together as a full house. My family is of the middle class in terms of wealth. Our religion is Hindu and we all practice the Indian cultures and traditions. What I love about my family is that everyone is a good cook and the food is always amazing. Members of my family are kind and respectful and that is why we rarely have disputes. The family support is strong and we all love each other.

Why I love My Family:

Having a big family is interesting because the house always feels warm. As I had earlier mentioned, my family is made of good cooks, which makes me love them. There is always teamwork within the family and good relationships are maintained. I like the adventurous nature of my family because we always have fun whenever we go for holiday vacations or have a family event.

Moral cultural and spiritual values are highly cared for in the society. My family is oriented in good moral values and believe we make a good role model for the society. Despite the influence of education, the family has been able to maintain the culture and traditions of Indian people. The love that exists in my family is precious and that is the most important value of all times because what family without love?

Our Weekend Outings and House Parties:

We do not have many of these in our family because of the different schedules among the members. We only have weekend outings and house parties during holidays. Birthday parties are and weddings are the parties that we frequently have as a family. I love parties at home because the food is usually exceptionally good. Also, the dancing and happy faces. Weekend outings are usually in form of picnics and they are usually full of games.

Cousins Visit during Summer:

My family is young and only three of my cousins are in college. The rest are in high school or elementary schools. Whenever my cousins come home from school, it is a happy moment for the whole family and we host parties to welcome them home. Whenever my older cousins are at home, I enjoy their company and I love to hear stories about college because that is where I will be in a few years’ time.

In the spirit of holidays, we have a vacation or two in a year. During these vacations, plans begin early and when the time comes, it is enjoyable and relaxing. Vacations for us as children tend to be more enjoyable because we have an environment away from home and with minimal parental supervision and we tend to explore and talk among ourselves. Team building during vacations strengthens the bond in families.

Family is a blessing to individuals because that is where they belong and it is what defines them. A good family is built through moral values and team effort. Having family events and parties or vacations re important is strengthening the relationships within a family. A happy individual is definitely from a happy family.

Charlie's Common Application Essay

I have two dads. They met in the early 80s, became partners soon after, and adopted me in 2000. I think I’ve always know that we were a little different from most families, but that’s never really bothered me. My story, that which defines me, is not that I have two dads. I’m not automatically a better person, or smarter, or more talented, or better looking because I am the child of a same-sex couple. I’m not defined by the number of fathers I have (or the lack of mothers). Having two dads is inherent to my person not because of the novelty; it’s inherent because it has afforded me a completely unique life perspective.

I’m very fortunate to have grown up in a loving and safe environment—with caring friends, family, and neighbors. I know for my dads, that was not always the case. Living on a farm in Kansas, my dad Jeff struggled internally with his identity for years. My dad Charley was luckier; born and raised in New York City, he was always supported by his parents and the community there. He only has a few stories of being harassed on the street or the subway. Dad Jeff, though, has a web of scarring on his right arm, from the time he was jumped leaving a bar; one of the men pulled a knife on him. When I was little, he used to make up stories about these scars; it wasn’t until I was fifteen that he told me the truth.

I know how to be afraid. My dads know how to be afraid—for me, for themselves, for the life they’ve created. When I was six, a man threw a brick through our front window. I don’t remember much about that night save for a few images: the police arriving, my aunt Joyce helping to clean up the glass, my dads hugging, how they let me sleep in their bed that night. This night wasn’t a turning point for me, a realization that the world is an ugly, nasty place. We carried on as usual, and nothing like that ever happened again. I guess, in retrospect, my dads were just used to living slightly afraid. But it never stopped them from going out in public, being seen together, being seen with me. Through their bravery, their unwillingness to give in, they taught me the virtue of courage more concretely and lasting than a thousand parables or Bible verses ever could.

I also know how to respect people. Growing up in a “different” family dynamic has led me to appreciate and understand others who are labeled as “different.” I know how they feel. I know where they’re coming from. My dads know what it is like to be spat on, looked down on, yelled at, and belittled. Not only do they want to keep me from being bullied; they want to keep me from bullying. They have taught me, through their actions, beliefs, and habits, always to strive to be the best person I can. And I know countless other people have learned the same things from their own parents. But my story is different.

I wish having same-sex parents wasn’t the novelty it is. I’m not a charity case, or a miracle, or a role model because I have two dads. But I am who I am because of them. Because of all they’ve lived through, dealt with, suffered, and tolerated. And from that, they’ve taught me how to help others, how to care about the world, how to make a difference—in a thousand small ways. I am not just the “boy with two dads;” I’m the boy with two dads who taught him how to be a decent, caring, courageous, and loving human being.

There are, of course, many strategies for writing a good essay title , but Charlie has done a good job on this front.  

The Essay Length

For the 2018-19 academic year, the Common Application essay has a word limit of 650 and a minimum length of 250 words. At 630 words, Charlie's essay is on the long side of the range. You'll see advice from many college counselors stating that you are better off keeping your essay short, but that advice is controversial. Sure, you don't want to have wordiness, fluff, digressions, vague language, or redundancy in your essay (Charlie is not guilty of any of these sins). But a well-crafted, tight, 650-word essay can provide the admissions folks with a more detailed portrait of you than a 300-word essay.

The fact that the college is asking for an essay means that it has  holistic admissions , and the admissions folks want to learn about you as an individual. Use the space you've been given to do so. Again, there are many theories about the ideal essay length , but you can obviously do a more thorough job introducing yourself to the college with an essay that takes advantage of the space you've been given.

The Essay Topic

Charlie steers clear of some of the obvious bad essay topics , and he has certainly focused on a topic that the admissions folks won't see very frequently. His topic is an excellent choice for Common Application option #1 for his domestic situation has clearly played a defining role in who he is. There are, of course, a few conservative colleges with religious affiliations that would not look favorably upon this essay, but that's not an issue here since those are schools that would not be a good match for Charlie.

The essay topic is also a good choice in that it illustrates how Charlie will contribute to the diversity of the college campus. Colleges want to enroll a diverse college class, for we all learn from interacting with people who are different than us. Charlie contributes to diversity not through race, ethnicity, or sexual orientation, but by having an upbringing that is different from the great majority of people. 

Weaknesses of the Essay

For the most part, Charlie has written an excellent essay. The prose in the essay is clear and fluid, and aside from an incorrect punctuation mark and a vague pronoun reference, the writing is pleasing free of errors.

Although Charlie's essay isn't likely to create any significant concerns from readers, the tone of the conclusion could use a little reworking. The last sentence, in which he calls himself "a decent, caring, courageous, and loving human being," comes across as a little strong with the self-praise. In fact, that last paragraph would be stronger if Charlie simply cut the final sentence. He's already made the point in that sentence without the problem of tone we encounter at the very end. This is a classic case of "show, don't tell." Charlie has shown that he is a decent person, so he doesn't need to spoon feed that information to his reader.

The Overall Impression

Charlie's essay has much that is excellent, and the admissions folks are likely to respond positively to how understated most of it is. For example, when Charlie narrates the scene of the brick flying through the window, he says, "this night wasn't a turning point for me." This is not an essay about sudden life-changing epiphanies; rather, it is about the life-long lessons in bravery, perseverance, and love that have made Charlie into the person that he is.

A couple simple questions you can ask when evaluating an essay are these: 1) Does the essay help us get to know the applicant better? 2) Does the applicant seem like someone who would contribute to a campus community in a positive way? With Charlie's essay, the answer to both questions is yes.

Family background is an essential aspect of an individual's life. Education may not equate to financial stability only in regions that are dominated by racism and national activities where the guarantee of getting a job is assured or absent based on one's skin colour. Contrary, the families where the parents are uneducated or have acquired very little education due to specific factors appear humble backgrounds. Low academic levels may characterise needy families except in instances where the families benefit from scholarships or wealthy families deemed to have low academic qualifications where individuals deliberately fail to go to school. Children raised in the hands of permissive parents have nothing to strive for in life. The parents do not give the children expectations or demands which they should achieve; this makes the children not to struggle for anything in their lives mainly because they do not see the need to work hard.

Poor decision-making is common in children raised by permissive parenting styles. Essential guidelines and regulations that enable persons to make wise choices lack in the children who went through permissive parenting. These children, many times make poor life decisions such as failing to go to school and indulgence in drugs that end up ruining their entire lives. Affect; is the first dimension that refers to the feelings that the parents and children experience emotional closeness. according to Bengston and Roberts (1991). The second dimension identified by the initial research involves the association which refers to the number of times the individuals involved interact as explained by Jones (2012). The interaction between individuals can base on several activities that occur regardless of where they take place as confirmed by Vanderven (2008). The third dimension is consensus; a consensus is the ideally the state of agreeing with the values and beliefs involved in the interactions. An agreement may not always take place in some instances where the children believe that it is their right.

Bengston and Roberts (1991) alongside Silverstein and Bengston (1997) added three more dimensions to the previous aspects to sum them up to six, they said function which basically meant the distribution of resources, structure that defined the proximity of the geographical locations as well as norms that refers to the obligations that are felt. The intergenerational theory mainly relates to the interactions between individuals of different ages in any setup. The interactions between the two groups of individuals, most probably the elderly and children involve several undertakings such as caregiving, care receiving, economic interactions, as well, as rational interactions.

The government subsidises the academic programs conducted in public schools where poor students attend to make it affordable for their parents.

Public schools are not considered a substantial investment in the lives of children because of several reasons. Many students enrol in the public schools from the extensive low-economic status backgrounds that occupy most parts of the region. The student to teacher ratio is quite significant that reduces the quality of teaching services offered in the public schools. The government does not collect enough resources that can guarantee all the students comfortable academic activities in their large numbers; this means that the public schools face inadequacies of essential amenities that are available in private schools where wealthy parents send their children according to Atkinson, Kivett and Campbell (1986). Employers prefer children who attended private schools compared to those who went to public schools because of the excellent academic experiences offered in the private schools.

Six dimensions involved in the Intergenerational Theory

The intergenerational theory focuses on several aspects of the society apart from the economic composition. The six sizes included in the argument are of great theoretical significance in explaining family organisations between the different families. Affect; the idea focuses on the emotional closeness that exists between parents and their childrentwo groups of individuals of a wide age gap according to Bengtson and Roberts (1991), this shows that the parents and their children are psychologically attached to each other through specific instants of disagreements may arise where it gives rise to another dimension, the consensus. Norms are also essential dimensions in the study of intergenerational theory. The standards highlight the obligations that are naturally existent between the parents and the children involved in any family. according to Atkinson, Kivett and Campbell (1986). As discussed above, the parent gives care to the child who later provides care to the parents at old age. A concern is both given and received from both ends it only depends on the giver and the time. During the period within which the caregiving and reception have involved the structure of the families affected is determined, regarding geographic closeness and other locative factors that interplay within the environments within which the families interact daily according to Moor and Komter (2018). Additionally, the function is also an essential dimension in the intergenerational theory. The function determines the sharing of resources; wealthy parents are the other who can share a lot of resources to their children while the poor hardly have anything to share with their children at the time of their demise.

Three parenting styles came in this study; the permissive parenting further divides into indulgent and negligent according to Maccoby and Martin (1983). The study also highlighted the effects of permissive parenting. The section also outlined authoritative parenting alongside its benefits on the life of any individual. Lastly, the article highlighted the authoritarian parenting style and went ahead to compare the authentic and the authoritarian parenting styles. This section focused on three theories that explained the idea of family sociology to great lengths. The background gave an elaborate idea of families while the parental control properly highlighted the parenting styles and thereafter, the intergenerational theory expounded on the dimensions involved within the families.

Finally, the section focussed on the intergenerational theory in its six different dimensions. The study also centred on the argument from an economic approach that gave a clear illustration of the case. Indeed, family theories are of great significance in the study of psychology and sociology.

FAMILY INFLUENCES OF CAREER CHOICES TO ADOLESCENCE

An adolescent is a very challenging stage in an individual's life because it is the point of transition from childhood to adulthood. Adolescents come in various forms and with several responsibilities that the individuals face, one of which is the decision on what careers to land on in an attempt to work. Therefore, the families of an individual can either influence the career choice of an individual negatively or positively. The three family theories discussed above also enhance the understanding of the idea behind the family influence on the career choice of adolescents.

Exposure of a child to different fields by a parent is beneficial in helping the child to develop reasonable interests and make responsible decisions. Trautner (2017) explains that authoritarian parents can convince their children towards making certain decisions of great significance to their career. Parents can link their children to their colleagues in different fields and enable them to interact, by so doing, the children gain an interest in the particular area which may inform their career choice. By doing this, the parents allow the adolescents to venture into the career fields of their liking. In such instances where children have the opportunities of venturing into the careers of their tastelove, they end up victorious in their fields.

The influence that arises from the dynamic nature of any family is also of great significance. According to Baumrind (1971), authoritative parents instil desirable values in their children by their restrictions on certain undertakings within the family. According to Vargas-Benitez (2017), children can love the careers of their parents if they feel that it gives them happiness. For instance, where a parent is a teacher, and an adolescent can see the good that their parent is doing to the community by their providing their teaching services, they too are motivated to join their parents' career. This influence is positive in situations where the parents of an individual are practising legal and appropriate services to the community. Other instances where the parents of an adolescent practice unacceptable behaviour such as the sale of illegal substances can negatively affect the career choice of the children. Careers are classified differently depending on the respect that each comes with from time to time. At this point in identifying children's personality and identity, it is crucial for the parents to take their time and address the children based on their strengths. In instances where the parents leave the children to venture on careers on their own, some children may venture on jobs that do not favour their personalities making them lose hope in the process according to Vargas-Benitez (2017). Adolescents require appropriate advice which can be beneficial through the authoritarian parenting style.

Instances where parents take the keen interest in the events that their children involve themselves motivate the children to work much harder and invest most of their efforts in the circumstances.activities.

How parents behave depends on their interests against that of their children. Most parents have a negative response to the ideas that some children may want to involve themselves in entrepreneurial activities. Most parents want their children to engage themselves in formalinformal

employment. Parents are mainly interested in career titles, and very few cases assist the children through the challenges that the adolescents go through during their career life according to Palos and Drobot (2010). Most parents are interested in improving their image in front of other families that they relate with daily. Positive parental behaviours with regards to the career paths of their children encourages the adolescents to prosper in the chosen paths. Negative parental behaviours such as lack of support is able to discourage the career growth of an adolescent.

Different parenting roles and qualities are responsible for good career choice between the adolescents according to Bryant, Zvonkovic and Reynolds (2006). They believe that when adolescents acquire the knowledge, beliefs, as well as, values that are related to options of work are relevant for the choice of good careers by the adolescents. Different family perspectives such as the structure and social capital are relevant in determining the job of an adolescent. Adolescents are vulnerable to family influence where the families are either extended or straightforward. Adolescent'sAdolescents acquire motivation may arise from the need to develop their families economically for those who come from the humble background. Adolescents who come from humble origins are always attracted to well-paying careers other than passion-driven jobs.

Historical conditions and the roles within the family are of great significance in the choice of a career by any adolescent. Bryant, Zvonkovic and Reynolds (2006) propose that adolescents may want to maintain the legacy of their parents and continue with their history, for instance, in a situation where an adolescent's family is made of several priests now, and before their existence, they would not want to disappoint their families according to Hughes and Thomas (2003). Roles of adolescents within their families can also determine the nature of the careers that they indulge. Adolescents who double up as guardians to their siblings engage in fast-paying occupations to enable them to support themselves. According to this review, it is indeed evident that the choice of careers by the adolescent is highly dependent on their families as explained relative to the family theories.
