Wondering About the Change in the UPSC Exam Centre 2024? Here's What You Need to Know

img src="https://img.jagranjosh.com/images/2024/April/342024/Change-in-UPSC-Exam-Centre-2024.jpg" width="1200" height="675" />

UPSC Civil Services 2024: UPSC conducts one of the most prestigious examinations in India for which the preliminary exam is scheduled to be conducted on June 16, 2024. The UPSC has stopped accepting online applications from candidates. While filling out the applications, candidates were asked to select their examination centres, and UPSC does not allow changes in the exam centre.

As per the media reports, there are circumstances where candidates may need to change their exam centre location, and here's what you need to know about the process.

What is the Procedure to Change Exam Centre under Normal Circumstances?

The UPSC does not allow any changes in the exam centre once the application form is submitted. This means that candidates will not be able to change their exam centre once they have selected it and submitted it. This policy was put in place to guarantee the examination's efficiency and impartiality.

Guidelines under Special Circumstances

In special circumstances, such as natural disasters or political upheaval, the UPSC may entertain requests regarding changes in exam centres. Last year, during the Manipur instance, many candidates were allowed to change their exam centres after filing petitions with the High Court.

Who is allowed to change the exam centre for the 2024 examination?

How many of the above statements is/are correct?

Under the Nilgiri Tahr project, the government plans to develop a better understanding of the Nilgiri Tahr population through surveys and radio telemetry studies; reintroduce the Tahrs to their historical habitat; address proximate threats; and increase public awareness of the species. The project is to be implemented from 2022 to 2027.

According to the order, there are multiple references to the Nilgiri Tahr in Tamil Sangam literature dating back to 2,000 years. The late Mesolithic (10,000-4,000 BC) paintings highlight the significance of the Tahr in folklore, culture and life. It was designated as the State animal in recognition of its ecological and cultural significance.

The animal is endemic to the Western Ghats. It is protected under Schedule-I of the Wildlife (Protection) Act of India, 1972.

Notably, it’s not directly emitted into the air but rather produced when two primary pollutants react in sunlight and stagnant air . These two primary pollutants are nitrogen oxides (NOx) and volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Therefore, ground-level ozone is called a “secondary” pollutant.

Ground-level ozone is likely to breach safety standards on hot summer days in urban areas, but can also reach unhealthy levels during colder months. The pollutant can also travel long distances due to wind and affect rural areas also.
