Planning ten years of my life seems like a kind of challenge now. We can’t predict what will happen to us after several months. However, I believe that great success is impossible without personal motivation and clearly defined goals. Thus, my life plan essay should start with a clear objective.

In ten years, I want to own an event company that can be the best in its field. I have always been fascinated with this idea. The following 10-year life plan essay will consist of three parts that can help me structure my future and achieve all my goals.

Therefore, I want to do some internship while studying. Perhaps, I will visit different countries to explore the modern tendencies of business start and its future development. I think that education is very important. The lack of knowledge can lead to the business’s incapacity and collapse. Today, the diploma plays a significant role. It gives an appropriate status and respect. A man with a diploma looks more confident and, of course, qualified.

Accreditation provides much more opportunities in life. Therefore, I am planning to study hard and get as much knowledge as possible. I am sure that the university I chose can help me achieve my goals. My education will give me the base for my future business.

It is the most important part of the life plan, which should clarify the goal and approaches to its achievement. Nowadays, the leaders of all companies know the value of settings achievable and understandable goals. Such issues are called smart goals, which need to get better results. Choosing the place location, I prefer my native city because it will be easier to find clients and partners. My lifestyle should accomplish my educational and professional background and skills. I am planning to do a huge social work and to promote equality among people. I want to help everyone that I can. But I have to learn more from the closest one.

My business will be closely related to people from different communities. Therefore, matching my wants, I should be ready to keep my mind open to different cultural issues and views. I plan to visit many countries to learn about cultural features. This will help in my work with clients.

According to Bukofsky, even my religious and spiritual conditions are very important for my business (34). Family relations also play a huge role in the business success achievement. Life planning is a process that may lead a person to take a more active role and to think about the future. Thinking about my future, I imagine a family that will support me and give me more motivation.

I totally agree with Carlson that “self-actualization is the key to self-help” (9). Although no one can control all life’s events, it is better to try being over random chance and fate.

There is a difference between the person who goes to one’s goal and the man who can easily be influenced by random events. I will structure my life according to the daily plan. This will allow me to follow the main idea, which will lead to success. The life plan is a perfect method to figure out what is really important in life.

I have so many ideas and interests in different fields. I am fascinated by people who can concentrate on the most important idea and follow the plan. However, I should follow my own life plan for the future result. I agree with the statement of Barnett that people should discipline themselves. Following the main idea of life, it is possible to get better results and to make it fast (Barnett).

I have always been a goal-setter. Thereby, my Ten Year Plan is focused on achieving my high ideals and realistic goals. From time to time, it seems that goals are something that we strive to achieve but fail due to personal reasons or social barriers.

If asked about your future goals , be honest but also answer in a way that shows you have actually thought about the relationship between college and your future. Here are a couple ways to approach the question:

• "I want to major in aeronautical engineering and work for NASA." If you know what you want to do, an interview question about your future is easy to answer. However, be sure to elaborate and explain why you want to pursue a certain career path. What got you interested in the field? What do you hope to accomplish in this career?
• "I don't know what I will be doing, but I know I want to help people with their problems. In college, I'm interested in taking classes in sociology and psychology to learn what some of the options are." Imagining the future, while exciting, can be an arduous task. Even just trying to look ten years ahead is challenging for me.

There seems to be a disconnect between reality and an imagined future. It almost feels like an out-of-body experience to look at ourselves in another season of life that we have yet to experience. Technologies and trends are different. Customs and attitudes are also different. Even physical appearances are different. Dreaming about life years from now feels like taking a trip to a country you’ve never visited. Everything is unfamiliar.

Despite this obvious departure from reality into wishful thinking, dreaming of the future sure is an exciting experience. To imagine me after a decade only provides a semblance of what the future holds for me. But what really matters is the countless possibilities the future holds. This is what I want to keep my eyes on. It should be where we anchor our goals so that we will work hard towards attaining them later on.

With that said, in ten years’ time, I see myself working at a company that offers an exciting environment to thrive in. I would be part of a brilliant creative team in the advertising industry, where my creativity will be allowed to flourish unhindered. I would be working as a productive member of the team, who is able to work well with others in translating drawings into the profitable design.

In a decade, I will have saved enough money to start my own business. I’m not sure about what I would be selling, but I am certain at this point that I would offer things that are practical and functional. Ultimately, my goal is to attain a certain level of wealth. The goal of shifting to entrepreneurship will be to sustain my family and guarantee a steady income that can make them happy and satisfied.

In a decade, I would like to start a family. I want to have two kids and a house where they can grow up healthy and smart. It will not be a big house, but it shall be a simple place where we can eat together, have meaningful conversations, and lead happy normal lives. While my partner and I will be dedicated to the success of our jobs and businesses, we will prioritize our family above everything else. After all, the reason for our working hard is to provide our children with better education, good food, and a comfortable place where they are fully nurtured and cared for.

In ten years’ time, I will be pursuing the hobbies that I’ve liked since I was a child. I know for one thing that work can be hectic, stressful, and downright tiring. What better way to unwind than to do something I really love? And so in my spare time, I will be writing and developing a novel that will mirror my life, my aspirations, and my thoughts on the universe. It will be a book that will hopefully touch so many lives. It will also be a book that can give a lot of people optimism about what the future holds for them.

While I believe these are all great dreams and visions, I know that the future remains to be a very mysterious place. But the fact remains that a concrete and purposeful image of the future shall compel us to do more for ourselves and make an impact in our own lives.

Whatever your heart desires, put it on an intentional mental roadmap. While I looked at the next ten years of my life, you can start however small or big you want to. The important thing is to have a vision for yourself so that you are motivated to turn them into actionable goals you can pursue in the next few years.

In ten years, I will be twenty-eight years old. The year will be 2032, and I envision myself as being a master’s graduate of a biochemical engineering program by 2027. I cannot confirm if I will choose to get my master’s degree from the University of Georgia, but I’m currently considering it. In addition, I will not have a Ph.D. By 2032, I aspire to work in a research and development lab for biochemical research and design. I plan to receive a job offer after earning my master’s degree so I can strategically start paying for my student loans. At this hypothetical company I will be working for, I intend to be in a position of leadership, regardless of the size. After working at a company for five years, my credibility and prowess will become recognizable, and promotion will surely follow. Additionally, I want to be a role model for aspiring engineers in high school and college. I would like to be the beacon for their education ship who do not realize the potential careers and opportunities available to them. I want to encourage creativity and rigorous work, for in my eyes it will lead to success. I want to have given a motivational speech at a high school’s STEM program or host an engineering workshop for prospective engineering undergraduates. 

As for my personal life, I envision a grand future for myself at age 28. A critical financial goal I would like to have started by 2032 is to start savings accounts for my future children’s college education. My parents did this for me and I could not be more grateful for what they have done, so I intend to repeat their kind gesture for my kids as well. I also need to have want to have paid my parents back for the time and money they have spent on me to give me the life that I live now and in 10 years. I want to have taken them on trips to countries they always talk about going to. I want to have a retirement fund set up straight out of college when I secure a long-term job. In a similar fashion, I plan on opening a mutual fund to make my money work for me.  Furthermore, I see myself having a very strong credit score. I don’t think by 2032 I’ll have the wealth for a Tesla, and besides I believe a modest Sedan would be perfectly OK for someone like me. So, as I drive to my R&D job, I’ll be in my Honda Accord. In addition, I see myself newly married in ten years.  However, I do not want to have kids yet; they can come a few years later. I envision myself living in a nice apartment in the city with one bedroom, one bathroom, a medium sized living room, and a small kitchen.

During my studies, I will have to work on different biology projects. The experience of working on these projects will give me insight into science and help me in becoming a good doctor. In addition, I also have to develop patience and diligence. During the summer vacations, I will have to work under a good doctor as an assistant nurse. It will help me to get real-life experience of how doctors work. Moreover, the learning will help me to deal with patients, nurses, doctors and staff of the hospital. It will be the best kickstart for my career as a future medical student.

As for now, I am focusing on my studies and looking forward to completing my schooling. I do have a future plan for my family. But, before that, I would like to travel the world. I want to visit different countries like America, Finland and London and travel to all the continents. After finishing my education and going on a world trip, I would like to settle down in my life. So, I will get married and would love to have a small family. I would like to have a small home in a natural and calm place where I can live and enjoy myself with my family.

Despite facing disapproval from my family, I seriously contemplated following my dreams while working as a mechanic at my father’s dairy. While I initially thought that job granted me too much freedom, I eventually grew to appreciate it. Along the way, I obtained my first car and set educational goals for myself, aspiring to attend college. At that moment in time, my life appeared as clear and pristine as a freshly crafted window. A decade later, I successfully completed college and proved my pessimistic father wrong, which filled me with immense happiness. My mother, who always had high expectations for me, was overjoyed by my achievement.

She was not only my mother, but also a cherished friend. Currently, I work as a specialized engineer in welding for dairy farmers and other employers who hire me. My expertise in welding has earned me a well-deserved high salary. During this time, I met the woman of my dreams – a stunning, honest, and affectionate individual with an enchanting personality.

We eventually married and had a child. As time passed, my bond with my son grew stronger, creating a friendship similar to the one I share with my mother.

However, shortly after that decision, I made the choice to join the military. Many people speculated about which branch I would choose; however, no one guessed correctly. Ultimately, I became an Apache pilot. The Apache helicopter is renowned for its power and agility in battle; just the thought of having control over such might is overwhelming.

Despite that overwhelming feeling, I embraced my role as an Apache pilot and soon learned that Austin served on the ground as his squad’s tough commander with significant responsibility , would be assigned to the same battalion as me.

Despite our shared experiences, we found ourselves in a situation where our survival relied on each other. Although I had to temporarily leave, my intention was to return and be reunited with my family. This way, we could continue embracing life together.

I hope that my family still owns our dairy farm—a place where I have cherished memories of fishing and working in the fields on weekends. It was also a venue for parties organized by me and my friends. Right now, I eagerly anticipate reuniting with my friends and continuing the activities that always brought us joy.

The dynamics of our group are quite amusing. One friend is compassionate and refrains from engaging in partying, drinking, or causing trouble. I fall somewhere in between, while my other friend possesses a completely distinct personality and frequently finds himself in troublesome predicaments. Despite this contrast, they are akin to brothers to me and I anticipate that remaining unchanged. The considerate friend achieved success as a game designer, whereas the other pursued a career as a tattoo artist. After six months of practicing his craft as a tattoo artist, I decided to get inked by him and have no regrets regarding that decision. Ultimately, my objective is to acquire a pet dog.

I have always been a dog lover and view dogs as constant companions, provided they are treated like younger siblings. While some interests may wane over time, there are certain activities, like playing the guitar, that I will continue to pursue until the end. Music has always been my passion and transforming the melodies in my mind into reality adds depth to my identity. Reflecting on this significant aspect of my life, I am determined to pursue these aspirations despite any possible setbacks. This is how I envision my future unfolding.

A total solar eclipse will cross North America on Monday , offering millions a rare opportunity to see afternoon skies temporarily darken as the moon blocks the face of the sun.

Tune into NBC News NOW as Lester Holt hosts a two-hour special at 2 p.m. ET Monday from Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

The eclipse's path fortuitously cuts across Mexico, 15 U.S. states and a small part of eastern Canada. In all other states in the continental U.S., viewers will be treated to a partial solar eclipse, with the moon appearing to take a bite out of the sun and obscuring part of its light.

Here’s everything you need to know about the rare celestial event.

What is a solar eclipse?

Solar eclipses occur when the sun, moon and Earth align. The moon passes between Earth and sun, temporarily blocking the sun’s light and casting a shadow on Earth.

A total solar eclipse is when the moon fully obscures the sun, whereas a partial solar eclipse means it blocks just a portion of the sun’s face.

Solar eclipses occur only with the new moon. Because the moon’s orbit around Earth is tilted, the three bodies don’t always line up in a way that creates an eclipse.

“Imagine if the moon’s orbit were in the plane of Earth’s orbit around the sun — if that were the case, then every new moon, you’d have a total solar eclipse and every full moon, you’d have a lunar eclipse,” Neil DeGrasse Tyson, director of the Hayden Planetarium at the American Museum of Natural History, told NBC News. “So, because things don’t always align, it lends to the rarity of the event and the specialness of the event.”

Where and when will the eclipse be visible?

This year’s eclipse will follow a slightly wider path over more populated areas of the continental U.S. than other total solar eclipses have in the recent past.

NASA estimates that 31.6 million people live within what’s known as the path of totality, where the total solar eclipse will be visible. An additional 150 million people live within 200 miles of the path, according to the agency.

The path travels through Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine. Tiny parts of Michigan and Tennessee will also be able to witness totality if conditions are clear.

After the eclipse crosses into Canada, it will pass over southern Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Cape Breton, at the eastern end of Nova Scotia.

Those outside the path of totality can still take part in the astronomical event by viewing a partial solar eclipse — visible throughout all 48 states of the contiguous U.S. — or a NASA livestream.

The timing, including how long totality lasts, depends on the location, but some spots will see the moon fully cover the sun for up to 4 minutes and 28 seconds.

Below is a list of timings for some cities along the path of totality, as  provided by NASA . A number of other resources, including NationalEclipse.com  and  TimeandDate.com , can also help people plan.

• Dallas: Partial eclipse begins at 12:23 p.m. CT and totality at 1:40 p.m.
• Little Rock, Arkansas: Partial eclipse begins at 12:33 p.m. CT and totality at 1:51 p.m.
• Cleveland: Partial eclipse begins at 1:59 p.m. ET and totality at 3:13 p.m.
• Buffalo, New York: Partial eclipse begins at 2:04 p.m. ET and totality at 3:18 p.m.
• Lancaster, New Hampshire: Partial eclipse begins at 2:16 p.m. ET and totality at 3:27 p.m.

How to safely view a solar eclipse

It is never safe to gaze directly at the sun, even when it is partly or mostly covered by the moon. Special eclipse glasses or  pinhole projectors  are required to safely view solar eclipses and prevent eye damage. Failing to take the proper precautions can result in severe eye injury,  according to NASA .

Eclipse glasses are thousands of times darker than normal sunglasses and specially made to enable wearers to look at the sun during these kinds of celestial events.

Sky-watchers should also never view any part of the sun through binoculars, telescopes or camera lenses unless they have specific solar filters attached. Eclipse glasses should not be used with these devices, as they will not provide adequate protection.

However, during the few minutes of totality, when the moon is fully blocking the sun, it is safe to look with the naked eye.

Beware of fake eclipse glasses. On legitimate pairs, the lenses should have a silver appearance on the front and be black on the inside. The manufacturer’s name and address should be clearly labeled, and they should not be torn or punctured. Check, as well, for the ISO logo and the code “IS 12312-2” printed on the inside.

If you don’t have eclipse glasses, you can make a homemade pinhole projector, which lets sunlight in through a small hole, focuses it and projects it onto a piece of paper, wall or other surface to create an image of the sun that is safe to look at. 

All you need is two pieces of white cardboard or plain white paper, aluminum foil and a pin or thumbtack. Cut a 1- to 2-inch square or rectangle out of the center of a piece of white paper or cardboard. Tape aluminum foil over that cut-out shape, then use a pin or thumbtack to poke a tiny hole in the foil.

During the eclipse, place a second piece of white paper or cardboard on the ground as a screen and hold the projector with the foil facing up and your back to the sun. Adjusting how far you hold the projector from the second piece of paper will alter the size of the image on the makeshift screen.

What to look for while viewing the total solar eclipse

For people along the path of totality, there are some fun milestones to keep track of as the total solar eclipse unfolds.

As the eclipse progresses and the sun gets thinner in the sky, it will start to get eerily dark, according to Tyson.

When the last beams of sunlight are about to become obscured, look out for the “diamond ring effect”: The sun’s atmosphere will appear as an illuminated halo, and the last light still visible will look like the diamond of a giant ring.

As the sunlight decreases even further, an effect known as Baily’s beads will be created by the moon’s rugged terrain. Tiny “beads” of light will be visible for only a few seconds around the dark moon, as the last bits of sunlight peer through the moon’s mountains and valleys.

When the moon is fully blocking the sun, it is safe to remove eclipse glasses and look at the total solar eclipse with the naked eye.

Some lucky sky-watchers may even catch a glimpse of a comet .

Comet 12P/Pons-Brooks — nicknamed the “ devil comet ” because an eruption last year left it with two distinct trails of gas and ice in the shape of devil horns — is currently visible from the Northern Hemisphere as it swings through the inner solar system.

The comet can be seen in the early evenings by gazing toward the west-northwest horizon. During the eclipse, when skies darken during totality, it may be possible to see the comet near Jupiter, but its visibility will depend on whether it’s in the middle of an outburst and thus brighter than normal.

Most likely, all eyes will be on the alignment of the moon and sun.

“Most people won’t even notice,” Tyson said. “But if you know to look, it’s there.”

When is the next solar eclipse?

The next total solar eclipse will be in 2026, but it will mostly pass over the Arctic Ocean, with some visibility in Greenland, Iceland, Portugal and northern Spain. In 2027, a total solar eclipse will be visible in Spain and a swath of northern Africa.

The next total solar eclipse visible from North America will be in 2033, but only over Alaska. Then in 2044, a total solar eclipse will cross Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, parts of Canada and Greenland.

The next total solar eclipse to cross the continental U.S. coast-to-coast in will occur in 2045. The path of totality for that eclipse will cut through California, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Kansas, Texas, Arkansas, Missouri, Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama, Georgia and Florida.
